New thread for all of us.
Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

Some of us are now hitting the 12 week mark, some of us are nearly at their goal, some halfway and some still have a way to go, but we are all losing even if it’s half a pound a week. We have all come so far and are making a difference to our health.

Also. I know I’m a lot bigger than most in here. But this week my bmi has come below 40 for the first time in forever. So now the NHS classes me as being ‘obese’ instead of ‘morbidly obese’ so yay!

Congratulations for the new milestone and well done!

mine gone from 37.6-34 in 2 months /10 weeks, aiming to be under 30 by August

Hi all! Checking in on the new thread, congratulations everyone on your fantastic losses and all the healthy choices made along the way.

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine so sorry to hear about your periods! Hope they get a little better or go away if that is what you want. It’s really fascinating how many people experience period-related changes on WLIs (and quite enraging that there’s no proper research into it, given the prevalence of these side effects).

As for me, I’ve been away for my sisters wedding and then off to visit my in laws, I’ve totally fallen off the healthy food wagon this week :/ i did OK at the wedding, but the rest of the week involved A LOT of snacks and homemade comfort food. My SIL also bakes ridiculously well, and MIL always makes sure to have everyone’s favourite snacks.

Stepping on the scales was a bit scary at the end of it all, but it looks like I’ve only gained 0.66lbs, which I find really hard to believe tbh. I might be at my set weight right now, since it’s the number I struggle to loose below and frequently not gain over for long-ish periods of time in the past.

I’ve been having some digestive issues, but honestly less than I feel I “deserve” for how rubbish my diet has been. Overall it’s my first gain week, but not nearly as much as I expected, and I learned that I really struggle with keeping to healthy eating still if I’m outside of my routine, so next time we’re visiting, I’ll have a better plan.

Morning lovely people, hope you're all looking forward to a lovely weekend.

@soupforbrains Same here re maintaining - if I look at MFP, all of my weight went on between Dec 22 and Nov 23. Since then, I've just bounced up and down 2 or 3 pounds until starting MJ, so I'm really confident that I know how to maintain once I get to goal. I'm going to pop a couple of pounds in the bank to allow for a small gain as I taper down, but that's OK.

Daily weighing needs to be another behavioural change - I stopped doing it in Dec 22, because I knew I was gaining (denial is easy when you don't see the numbers in front of you). And didn't start again until Nov 23 - that was a shock when I stood on the scales and realised just how much I'd put on in a little under a year. I need to make sure I don't hide from the truth again - some people think it's a little disordered to track weight obsessively, but I know that for me it's another important tool in the toolbox.

@Illbefinejustbloodyfine Long and very expensive divorce here as well! And ridiculous periods on MJ. Last one was weeks long, and I've just ovulated again, ahead of schedule. Grr.

I've realised that 7.5 is probably too high a dose for me. SEs are still minimal, but I feel uncomfortably full on it for a lot of the week, which isn't the goal for me, I want to still feel able to eat decent balanced meals, and to enjoy them. Today I feel like I feel after a huge blowout meal - I know that will taper off towards the end of the week, but it feels like I'm going to have to force food in for a bit, which isn't good. Plus doing exercise with this feeling is hard - like running on a full stomach, which I hate doing. So I think for my next jab I'm going to count clicks and go down to 6.25. Over suppression isn't what I want.

I'm away again tonight and tomorrow night - hotel stay this time, so again lots of eating out, but I'll be walking a lot as well, and I've looked at menus so think I'll be ok. It won't be the blowout of the last bank holiday weekend, so hopefully not another 1.5lb gain, especially since I've got a decent loss so far this week in the bank to mitigate some of this weekend. Maybe I should eat at Hakkasan more often, because it seems to have kickstarted weightloss again!

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 0.1blb/126.1lb BMI 22.3 - 18.5lb down, 81.9% of target achieved.
GW 8st 10lb/122lb (22.6lb total target loss, 4.1lb to go) BMI 21.6

Loss by week:
W1 (2.5) 5.5lb
W2 (2.5) 1.3lb
W3 (2.5) 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 (5) 3.3lb
W5 (5) 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 (5) 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 (5) 2.6lb
W8 (5) 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 (7.5) 1.1lb
W10 (7.5) 2.2 lb so far

Edited

I didn’t go up to 7.5 as 5mg was still giving good suppression and fullness , but ordered a 7.5 mg pen as was worried same like 2.5 gonna happen where it stops working

did 40 klicks then 46 clicks (roughly 6mg) and will go up to 50 clicks (6.25) next jab , working myself up to 7.5 (my next pen will be 7.5 pen too but 4 full doses) . I don’t want to move up doses too quickly , even if they don’t suggest counting clicks but you get more doses of the pen and as I read many that been on it a year that eventually even higher doses stops working and I still have around 4st to loose before I start tapering downwards

That's amazing, well done!! It's such a motivator isn't it

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 17/05/2025 10:28

I've just checked my BMI. I'm still obese. But diwn from 37.6 to 32.9 since 16th March. This is AMAZING.

GiveMeWordGames · 17/05/2025 10:44

@soupforbrains well done! That's an excellent milestone. and @Aboutmeabouttime I'm also just over 5lb away from a 2 stone loss, having weighed this morning at 15st 9.75lb

My BMI is now 33.3, down from 36.8.

TheBossOfMe · 17/05/2025 11:35

Oh wow - so many amazing milestones! Well done everyone, so pleased that there are so many positive journeys.

Another NSV. The hotel I’m staying at this weekend has a rather lovely swimming pool. I just fished the swimsuit from last summer out. Gigantic on me. So am packing a swimsuit I last wore in 2022 for my 50th birthday holiday :)

RuthEvershedforPM · 17/05/2025 12:11

Really enjoying reading all of these milestones and NSVs. Everyone doing so brilliantly:)

Amjam2025 · 17/05/2025 20:36

So many successes and positive messages on this thread, everyone is smashing it!

I thought that crap post i shared yesterday was so negative and awful, but what you guys responded with (on here and on the post itself) made me realise, we can do this, we will do this, we will maintain a healthy weight and lifestyle.....we've not just changed habits, we've changed our whole outlook and mindset 💪

Yoghurt update....after I threw up I felt awful all night but went to bed, slept it off and felt much better this morning once I took a windeze tablet...thank you for all the advice and words of wisdom as usual !❤

Fatmumslim01 · 17/05/2025 20:43

NSV today....I bought a dress off vinted a few days ago and it arrived today. It's shirt style so not stretchy and I bought an 18 hoping it would fit in a few months as I'm a solid size 20.....well it fits now! Obviously this isn't me saying I'm a size 18 yet as I think the dress may be quite forgiving tbh...but it still fits and looks good I think!

GiveMeWordGames · 17/05/2025 20:56

@Fatmumslim01 fantastic NSV, and all the BMI milestones are excellent.

Also @TheBossOfMe with the 2022 swimming costumes. I'm off on a week's holiday on Tuesday and I'm actually looking forward to going through my swimming stuff and summery dresses etc and seeing how things look.

Glad you're feeling more positive @Amjam2025 !

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 17/05/2025 21:12

More NSV today - had to tighten bra straps as they were constantly sliding off my shoulders! Also had a vinted purchase that I didn't expect to fit yet, but does. Also believe the sizing is generous but even so!

Flamethrowers · 17/05/2025 22:46

Following on from the maintenance hoo/ha yesterday, my friend sent me this article in the guardian from today, which is a sobering read. The main take away is that weight regain is inevitable for all but a small number - but that tapering may help as might long term use of the injections. I fear the roar of food desire returning and long for my younger days when I just eat when I was hungry and didn't when I wasn't. For now I'm going to continue to try and build muscle and get into a realistic excercise routine as my main goal is to be fit and healthy as I approach sixty. https://www.theguardian.com/news/ng-interactive/2025/may/17/weight-loss-drugs-altering-views-how-body-brain-work?
im not sure where I read yesterday a scientist somewhere saying that even when gastric bands are fitted weight can pile on - and that a successful diet is one where you end up less than where you started - not necessarily where you settled at your lowest weight. There is also a correlation between rapid weight loss and rapid weight regain.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 18/05/2025 06:59

It is a worry @Flamethrowers . People ADO lose weight abd keep it off though (not specifically talking about WLI here) so there is hope for us all.

I lost 3st doing juice plus a few years ago and regained that and more, because not only did I stop JP, I stopped considering what I was eating. Went straight back to being a pig, in reality

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 18/05/2025 07:00

Weigh in 9 - 2lbs off. Would have been more but had an odd weekend with no cooker so gmfoid has not been optimal, but also not terrible

TheSpoonyNavyReader · 18/05/2025 07:29

I started TOTM yesterday which was completely unexpected which may explain the small loss this week.

I had a hen night last night and managed to have a few glasses of wine and boy do I feel like 💩 today.

A weigh in and a question:

Question
I have my next syringe in the fridge wrapped in tin foil and it got pushed against the back wall by the kids rummaging. The pen looked a bit cloudy to me and shook when I rattled it which I thought was ice (actually I think all pens rattle when shaken!). I rewrapped it and put it back in the fridge and now it looks ok. I’m not sure if it partially froze and defrosted or if it was always more or less ok. Any advice.

Weigh in:
11 weeks on 2.5 Today’s weigh in is 2.2 lost in the last week (and that includes a day eating at maintenance).

SW: 73.8 kg, BMI 28
CW: 64.4 kg (10 stone 2), BMI 24.4
GW: 61 kg/135 pounds, BMI 23

I recently discovered that my weight loss had made my thyroid medication too effective and I had become mildly hypothyroid - I’ve dropped back a dose, but as this affects metabolism (it will slow) I have to drop daily calories back down as well over the next month.

NSV: I have finished week four of couch to five k. I held a plank for incrementally longer. My friend said I was looking good (my biggest win is that my face is no longer puffy). Just measured my waist and it’s another inch off. All my clothes fit (but some of them no longer suit me as they are too young, and also my body shape has changed a bit, and I am more and more like a Centaur, with a slender top and a prancing massive back end).

NSL: My booms, my poor heading south boobs!

I am laying in the lounge with the windows open because for the first time since being on MJ I am hot.

Thank you to whoever suggested Pillsorted as a provider I have paid £129 for a 7.5 pen and the process was so easy. Bye Medexpress

@TheSpoonyNavyReader I am switching supplier every month at the moment for the best deals. I used Asda the first two months but they were one of tb more expensive although there prices for the lower doses have recently come down. Then I used medexpress with a code and for next month I'm going to go with "we prescribe" as they have (almost) price matched "pillsorted" who won't take me as Im on thyroid medication and "we prescribe" have said they will do a 5mg for £105 not sure on price for 7.5 so they may be worth a look. Do you know about the "monj" comparison site? I'm thinking of oushk for maintenance when I get there but not sure

MJMabel · 18/05/2025 09:03

I’m about to start my third pen, staying on 2.5mg. I’ve been on mounjaro just over two months now and have lost over 10kg, BMI is now 26.5. I’m holding off buying new clothes as I don’t want to have clothes that I can only wear for a matter of weeks, but am really looking forward to going clothes shopping in a month or so.

I did use the Monj website my BMI is now 26.1 I am getting worried that I will be stopped so I am also checking providers policy on where they will cut off.

I will look at we prescribe next month.

anecdotally (from whist I've seen on the weight loss boards) it seems that those with lower start bmis achieve good results on lower doses of weight loss medications.
I just did a google search and the emerging evidence is that those with lower starting bmis may not need to go high on these drugs and in one study could even achieve good results on a prescriptoo. lower than the starting dose.
That would require more personalised prescriptions from prescribers eg I don't think I should be offered 5 if I'm loosing well on 2.5 (at the moment it's at my discretion).
I'm also interested in finding out if there is any correlation between sustainable weight loss and lower doses but that research hasn't yet been carried out.

Meanwhile I eat a bad egg this morning and I'm convinced I'm going to die (this is what happens if you were around during the egg listeria fear of the last century)

ps lower start included obese but not morbidly obese

Fatmumslim01 · 18/05/2025 09:15

@TheSpoonyNavyReader and @MJMabel wow you are both so close to a healthy weight and here's me pleased that my BMI is now 37 😱 this feels like a very long term thing, it was very sobering to realise that although Ive lost a stone so far on MJ which is wonderful, I can lose another 3 stone and still have a BMI of 30 and therefore eligible for the injections. Still, Rome wasn't built in a day as they say!

Are you going to switch to maintenance soon @TheSpoonyNavyReader @MJMabel

lilymty · 18/05/2025 09:19

Anyone know which providers are really quick to receive atm. I forgot to order my next 5 pen. I usually use medexpress but they are staying an extra 7 days atm.
I go away on friday so I need it here before then if im going to order it
