Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

@CosmicCuppa sometimes it works like that. I was fed up if being good last week and had a burger and fries on Friday night, weighed Saturday and was down a pound. You need to eat like you will when maintaining, so you can fit a KFC in if you jiggle calories around.

LordJohnGrey · 07/05/2025 09:52

Well 1nd injection taken, 5.8lb down so on my way. Finding it really easy to stay off the snacks. My big thing was bread, and havnt had any at all, use to have some with most meals and toast for breakfast.

Now I'm having porridge for breakfast and calorie counted lunch and supper.

TheFunkyDuckling · 07/05/2025 10:40

Hi all, posting in here as well as the April group, so apologies if you're seeing this twice of your in the same group.

I'm W5D5 took my first 5mg at the weekend.
Just wondered if any one of those who have suffered from feeling cold felt the same.

Covered in sensitive goosebumps. Arms and legs.
Feeling slightly nauseous
Burps taste like last night's meal.
Feeling headachey and generally achey all over.
I don't have a temperature.

Could these flu like symptoms be the MJ?

I work in NHS, think I might take a covid / flu test while I'm here just to rule it out.

Hello everyone, this is only my second ever post on mumsnet (I posted on thread 2 rather than 3 by accident).
I have just had an email tO say my order from medexpress has been prescribed, so hoping to recieve it in the next few days.
Been overweight my entire life, have around 10 stone to lose.
I was on the waiting list to see the consultant for this for over a year, but recieved a letter to say no funding, so have made some sacrifices to fund it myself.
Feeling very apprehensive...

52soon · 07/05/2025 10:51

SW (pre MJ) 2022 19st 7lbs
SW MJ 17st 12lbs 16/4/25
W1 -2lbs
W2 -1lbs
W3 -2lbs
CW 17st 7lbs

last jab of 2.5 mg today, scales dropping slowly but downwards, I have 5mg ready for next week but a bit scared of doubling dose and getting side effects as I’ve generally been ok, so might do 3.75 mg as a start. Have anyone jumped straight to 5 mg with no side effects?

Kay2000 · 07/05/2025 11:01

@Weightlossprincess I was same, very apprehensive but it’s been the best decision I’ve made in a long time. Good luck.

@52soon I went up gradually thinking it’s the only time the dose is doubled.

GnomeDePlume · 07/05/2025 11:54

@TheFunkyDuckling mild gastric issues, definitely had those. Fortunately as I drink a lot of spiced black tea that is what my burps tend to taste of!

The other symptoms I haven't had. It is quite possible you do have some sort of virus.

Sleephelpneeded · 07/05/2025 12:02

Has anyone got any tips on what to eat and how to speed up weight loss?

Also, any suggestions for stopping blood sugar dropping too low in the night? Have woken up more than once feeling shaky at 4/5am and needed an apple juice to feel okay again.

SilenceInside · 07/05/2025 12:10

@Sleephelpneeded for the night time low blood sugar, you could try having a small snack in the evening of something that’s going to release energy slowly. So protein and wholemeal complex carbs maybe.

But, are you type 2 diabetic? In which case I would check about the overnight low blood sugar with whoever manages your diabetes.

Regarding eating in general, focus on unprocessed protein, non-starchy veg and fruit, complex carbs and healthy fats. How much weight are you losing per week at the moment?

My hands and feet have really felt the cold! That’s a major symptom for me.

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 07/05/2025 12:47

@TheFunkyDuckling

Oh the coldness! It's just awful.

I keep my electric blanket on all night. DH says it's using a lot of leccy but I don't care. I can't bear being cold.

It's especially bad the day I inject and the day after.

mamabeeboo · 07/05/2025 12:50

I have a lot of weight to lose and was feeling quite nervous climbing the doses every month that I'd have no where to go and loads to lose.

I'm very happy to report I have found my dose at 10mg. I don't feel very hungry even by the end of the week or I feel manageable hunger - which I'm trying to get used to as being normal.

This is my 6th week of 10mg and the weight is well and truly flying off. I've lost 6kg in 4 weeks and can't imagine what life will be like this time next year.

CosmicCuppa · 07/05/2025 13:46

Has anyone had any menstrual changes? I’ve been on my period for 3 weeks now. Daily, constant light bleeding ranging from red to brown with stringy mucus. Enough to need to wear pads but not enough to be concerned. Mounjaro isn’t said to have any menstrual changes but there are lots of us on Reddit and TikTok experiencing it.

eibbed999 · 07/05/2025 14:23

Hello there new thread, and new people! I swapped provider this week. Was a bit daunting, the first one was happy just with a photo of me, but the new one (Medino) wanted a video of me on the scales, and proof of my height too - which was fun, using one of those terrifying retractable metal tape measures that always feel like they're going to lop your fingers off! After all the faff though it was approved immediately and landed this afternoon, so much better packaged than I'm used to. I don't think I'll have the energy to change frequently to chase the deals, but my existing provider was £40 more expensive a month, so it was worth doing. I keep thinking about maintenance and which pharmacies are good with that, then reminding myself that I still have over eight stone to lose so that really isn't something I need to worry about just yet...

WeAllHaveWings · 07/05/2025 15:27

I don't know about menstrual changes @CosmicCuppa , but either Mounjaro, the rapid weight loss, effects on metabolism, or significant change of diet (or a combination) has messed about with my hormones.

I was 2 year post menopause and meno symptoms returned (much worse than the first time around 😖) so started HRT in January. I've had a couple of periods/spotting since then but GP says that is normal until it settles down and they get the estrogen / progesterone balance right.

I read fat stores estrogen so rapid/continued weight loss will disrupt the balance of hormones. Hopefully it will settle down but if it lasts much longer it might be worth a chat with your provider or GP.

Hello @eibbed999 I'm also with Medino.

I really like the pharmacist there, Alessandro.

Hello @eibbed999 I'm also with Medino.

I really like the pharmacist there, Alessandro.

Yes he seems lovely - it's a nice personal feel!

Potato1234 · 07/05/2025 17:48

Just found this thread thanks to @TheFunkyDuckling

Started 5th April so I’m 4.5 weeks in.

SW 18 11
CW 17.3
GW healthy BMI for me is 8-9 stone, but current goal is to get to 12 stone and go from there. Seems so unrealistic and out of reach right now.

But I’ve lost 22lbs which is crazy and I still don’t believe it!

ConfusedMiddleAger83 · 07/05/2025 18:08

Hi, also jumping on the thread. My first 2.5g dose is en route and I plan to start at the weekend. Really apprehensive about potential side effects and if I’m doing the right thing but I’ve tried everything else barring bariatric surgery and my health situation has spiralled the last couple of years so I am going to give this a good go!

CW 22 St, height 5’7”, heaviest I’ve ever been
GW no idea, I think getting my BMI under 40 (currently 48) would be a good first target and I will think again after that. Being a healthy weight seems out of reach but I know even a couple of stone will be transformative.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 07/05/2025 21:08

Hello everyone. Just catching up so a quick post to say hi!

I was properly diagnosed with fatty liver disease today which wasn't really a 9surprise but seeing it in print after the ultrasound scared me. I know I'm doing all the right things (upf free, mounjaro) but it's scary.

I've asked my husband to "make me" go for a 30min walk each day (in practice well try for after dinner together each night) . I just know I lose enthusiasm and am do tired after work. We did today and I so didn't wamt to but it was okay. I did reflect halfway round that in Jan pre mounjaro I was only managing 8-10mins and it's amazing really!!

GnomeDePlume · 08/05/2025 06:47

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 114kg BMI 44.5
GW 60kg BMI 23.4

So that's 1kg down in the week. I am now under 18 stone - 17 stone 13.5 pounds. 3 stone 9 pounds down. Step by step it is coming down.

Had to order a cushion for my office chair yesterday. I originally chose my office chair as being suitable for people up to 150kg. It was wonderfully comfortable when I first got it but now my backside seems to be where I have lost a fair amount of padding and my chair was becoming agonisingly painful.

Starting a dress for DD this weekend. I fitted the toile on her a month or so ago but been finishing a quilt so didnt get to it. I suspect there will need to be another fitting as she has lost more weight since toile stage. This is the problem with making clothes for her. I love doing it but work f/t so there is a lead time.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/05/2025 07:49

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden, sorry to hear that, scary indeed but you are taking all the right steps to reverse it x I’ve been toying with the idea of a walking pad, I usually have good intentions and start something with enthusiasm but it soon wears off, plus I live across the road from a 70 acre country park so why buy a walking pad - I’m crazy!
when are they going to scan/test you again?
hugs x

Iwouldratherbesinging · 08/05/2025 08:01

@eibbed999 I changed providers for my last pen, was a lot easier than I thought, they just wanted a dated photo and a photo of my last MJ box and id. Those retractable metal tape measures are terrifying, you did make me chuckle 🤭

@Potato1234 👋 how tall are you? BMI is crazy, healthy for me is between 7.5 and 10 stone - I imagine that at 7.5 stone I’d just be a bag of loose skin and bones! I’ve set my ultimate goal at 11.5 stone. When I first started it seemed unreachable so I broke it down into smaller goals, that ultimate goal no longer feels unreachable, it’s a bizarre feeling. I’m just over a stone away from my next goal, then I’ll be aiming for that elusive 11.5 stone ✨

WafflingDreamer · 08/05/2025 08:05

Weigh in number 31

SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 17st 0lb (BMI 35.1 )
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)
1lb down this week

Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1
Total loss 65lbs / 4st 9lb

The 16s are still evading me this week, could do with a few more 2 or 3lb weeks to get me back on track. I was averaging 1 stone every 5-7 weeks but this last stone feels like it's taking forever in reality I've lost 9lb in 7 weeks. I was expecting my weight loss to slow down but not quite this early on.

Lds1 · 08/05/2025 08:06

Morning everyone, weigh in day today!

Well done everyone on your losses, nice to see we're all making progress 🙂 I got told again this week that I 'look well', I take that to mean I look thinner and was a mess before 😁

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden well done on starting to walk, I downloaded the couch to 5k app but haven't started it yet, I feel too self conscious by myself. I've signed up to a body pump class so I'll see how that goes, I used to like it.

This week I lost 1.4kg / 0 stone, 3 lb and 1.38 oz, so much better than the last 3 weeks, and I'm in the 14st!

Stats so far:
SW: 142.8kg / 22 stone, 6 lb and 13.12 oz
CW: 94.2kg / 14 stone, 11 lb and 10.81 oz
Total loss: 48.6kg / 7 stone, 9 lb and 2.31 oz
To go: 34.2kg / 5 stone, 5 lb and 6.37 oz
BMI: 50.8 to 33.5
