Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

No, they send you the letter, and it's up to you to decide whether to forward it on to your GP

Thank you. Where can I get a discount code, now that the thread has been deleted.

I have one if you want to DM me (hope that's allowed 🙂)

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne I am using Zava at the moment and they do automatically forward the letter on to my GP, as well as providing it electronically to me. I wasn’t given an option to say no to that. I can see the letters uploaded onto my NHS app by the admin team at my GP surgery.

Oh really? My apologies then, I stand corrected, it must have changed. They sent me the letter, but not my GP

Hello new thread!

I’m back from holiday, waiting for my coach at the airport. We walked masses and I didn’t go ‘blow the diet’ - I couldn’t, I got full
too quickly and wasn’t hungry most of the time!

But I did need the seatbelt extender for the return journey so y’know. Swings and roundabouts, ups and downs! I’m ok with it, I know I’ve done everything as I should have and was in a calorie deficit every day so it’s either constipation or lunch!!

Back to tracking tomorrow!

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/05/2025 21:58

Does anyone know which suppliers don't tell your GP?

PotatoBreadForTheWin · 05/05/2025 23:14

Mine didn’t, I’m with second nature. They asked me for permission to tell them but never did it

Are you sure?
They've just taken my money and then insisted on knowing my doctor's name.

Yes definitely. Like a PP I can see the letters on my file. Second nature haven’t told my GP, although I was happy for them to do so. I suspect it was a mistake and will let my GP know next time I need to see them

Kay2000 · 06/05/2025 07:44

@TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne Why don’t you want yours to know? I personally think all GPs should be told, as they might need to know if you get side effects or MJ interacts with a drug you’re prescribed or a condition you have. Mine literally logs the letter and that’s it. Even when I attended the GP for something else they never even mentioned it.

Welcome back @TragicMuse, glad you had a wonderful time! Did you know that the airline seatbelts are trimmed for repair, so your seatbelt on the return journey was probably shorter than average!

@WeAllHaveWings wow! That’s an amazing loss, I bet you feel fantastic and only 40lbs away from a whole 10 stone off. I can’t wait to be where you are, truly inspiring ✨

Iwouldratherbesinging · 06/05/2025 07:51

Tuesday weigh in for me, another 1.8 lbs down 😇

SW (pre MJ) 21+ stone
MJ starting weight 19 stone 2lbs (9/10/2024)
CW - 14 stone 8.8 lbs
next goal 13 stone 7 lbs

TragicMuse · 06/05/2025 09:54

Thanks you @Iwouldratherbesinging! That helps and I didn’t know! It was close but not happening!

I have assessed the impact and at the moment it’s +3.5lbs but that should be quickly resolved with a few days of being back to normal and counting on Nutracheck! And I enjoyed every bite!!

Kay2000 · 05/05/2025 20:19

That’s amazing, I’ve seen you on the other thread too. I want to lose at least 100lb (147 to my target goal of 11 and half stone 😱) which seems massive but looking at your numbers, you’re very much losing steadily of 0-3lb a week, which goes to show slow and steady works. Can I ask what sort of eating plan you follow? All I’ve had to do so far to lose 31lb is to cut out snacks and eat a bit less. But my losses have slowed down/stopped for a fortnight and I’m wondering if now I need to either count calories (which I really don’t want to do, memories of diet clubs..) or intermittent fasting or I’m not sure what.

I don't really have a meal plan as such - maybe a bit high protein, a bit low carb (or a lot lower than I used to eat!), a bit calorie cycling, a bit of mindful eating and of course lots of water (when I remember!) The big difference is, a bit like you, what I don't eat anymore, what I enjoy eating has changed.

The best buy (after Mounjaro itself!) I have made in the last year is an air fryer. I'll have a chicken breast/steak with some seasonings/marinade instead of a heavy sauce that I had before and lots of veg or salad, sometimes a few (just 5-6) small hash brown potato bites or a couple of small potatoes, a pitta bread or a wrap if fajitas or kebab, or fish such as salmon/mackerel/baked cod. I'll still enjoy a weekly Chinese takeaway with everyone else (but much less than I used to have!) I don't track calories anymore, but would guess some days it might be 900-1000 calories others much more but it all averages out over the week to a healthy deficit. I wouldn't hesitate to track for a couple of weeks if weight loss stalled to see where it was going off track.

I think what has also made a big difference is no urge to snack or for sweet treats, even with sweeteners - my pepsi max addiction was killed in the first week, chocolates lie in the fridge untouched. I have no desire for snacks or anything sweet and Mounjaro means I have no feelings I am depriving myself. I will still have a cake/dessert when out - but will probably share it as I have learned even if I enjoy it, the sugar rush makes me feel sluggish later so I just enjoy a small portion rather than a huge slice that some cafes serve. If I do snack it is a small portion of mixed nuts (which isn't often as I need to take my HRT at night now on an empty stomach which means I shouldn't really eat after dinnertime).

There is no way I would have stuck to this for so long without Mounjaro.

PhoebesGuitar · 06/05/2025 10:55

Hello everyone! I started Mounjaro 3 weeks ago, have 100+lbs to lose so glad i found this chat! I’ve had 2 doses of 2.5MG and due 3rd dose tonight, I haven’t had any appetite suppression and food noise still there - is this normal as 2.5 is not considered a therapeutic dose? I’ve been eating healthily and reduced cals etc but just wondering will I get more effect on 5?

GnomeDePlume · 06/05/2025 11:30

@WeAllHaveWings from talking with DD (lost around 8 stone so far) you are right that there are challenges around losing a large amount of weight.

DD finds that some comments she is receiving from HCPs are overly focused on her weightloss as though that was the only thing which mattered.

As DD says, it is great she has lost weight but it hasn't cured her of diabetes or PCOS.

SilenceInside · 06/05/2025 11:34

@PhoebesGuitar you might get more effect from your next dose of 2.5mg, as the levels in your system build each time you do an injection, as it won't have all left your system after 7 days. It's very normal for people to not get much effect on the starting dose, which is sometimes lost in the midst of posts about people getting suppression straight away and losing a lot of weight quickly. That does happen, but it isn't the norm and isn't the expected experience.

FIFIBEBE · 06/05/2025 13:21

This is such an encouraging thread to read, well done to everybody whatever stage you’ve reached.

I began a year ago and have lost five stones, so quite slow, but I’m quite old. Losing another five would equate to my BMI being 23 and that is unimaginable but I’d like to see if I can reach that target.

I’m currently on holiday wearing size 18 clothing which has mostly been stored in boxes (nearly all with tags still on for years). A year ago my clothing was size 24, I spent too much money on it and I just acquired more and more trying to find flattering pieces. Twenty three pairs of size 22/24 navy trousers were found in various wardrobes which fills me with shame. I’m determined to create a capsule wardrobe when I shop again but it won’t be for sometime.

I’m using the 12.5mg dose and trying to stay on that for as long as I can. The suppression has certainly reduced and it feels very different to the early months of struggling to eat sufficient amounts of decent food. I’m trying to embrace this as the new normal and train myself to eat normally and not as if food could be rationed at any moment.
Mounjaro is a wonderful thing and I’m grateful for it but I’ve learnt it’s only a tool. I’m very interested in the NHS rollout possibility and the long term plans for that, we shall see.

Lovely to read these posts.

Yeu new thread

CosmicCuppa · 06/05/2025 15:12

Just received my 5mg pen ready to start on Saturday. 2.5mg has been great so far but suppression has gone down now so I’m ready for 5mg.

BagQueenBee · 06/05/2025 18:31

I am loving 5mg, just ordered my 5th 5mg pen, suppression good but am able to eat enough, loosing well, 4 stone total this week after 22 weeks…. Feel better than I have in years too.

WeAllHaveWings · 06/05/2025 18:40

Well done @BagQueenBee ! 🎉

What I love about this journey with Mounjaro is, as I tick off each stone lost, I have never felt like I am done or I have had enough of this even after 10 months. I just pat myself on the back, set my sights on the next one and keep going!

Motnight · 07/05/2025 07:28

Hi all. Thank you for starting this new thread. Lovely to read people's stories and NSVs. I have lost just under 5 1/2 stone so far. BMI now 39 instead of 52. Will keep going!

GnomeDePlume · 07/05/2025 08:51

Well done everyone on losses so far.🚀

The thing I am enjoying is how my tastes are changing. Salmon, broccoli and rice for dinner last night. One salmon fillet, a mountain of broccoli and three dessert spoons of rice.

Previously I would have had 2 fillets, a 2 person portion of rice and half the quantity of broccoli.

No more carb cravings. I have been taken over by healthy eating aliens.

CosmicCuppa · 07/05/2025 09:29

I’ve been stalling for the last week and a half but I woke up after a KFC (not even ashamed of myself) and I’ve lost 2lb finally. Bringing my total loss to 10.5lb since 17th April.

It’s not a major loss but I am over the moon. 4.5lb until the next stone bracket!
