Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

I’m due my third dose of pen 1 on Thursday and I’m wondering what to do about the next pen.

I am worried about side effects going up to 5mg, especially as the first dose would be the day before I have to host a nine year old’s birthday party!

Doses 3 and 4 of the second pen will be due when I’m on holiday (on a cruise so there will be constant food available!) and I’m worried that if I DON’T move up a dose then by then the 2.5mg won’t be enough to do the trick and I’ll struggle.

just not sure what is the best thing to do really!

I'm by no means an expert, I'm still on 2.5mg, but you could possibly get a 5mg pen but take a smaller dose and see how you get on? Someone here will correct me if I'm wrong, but I think you can count clicks and do something like 3.75? A cruise will be a challenge, I get it - but if the suppression works it might be quite liberating!

eibbed999 · 04/06/2025 09:35

12th jab today (still miraculously 2.5, no idea why it's still working but it is!), weigh in No 11. Moved the day forward twice in the last fortnight because of not wanting to take it with me on my hols in July. Really pleased with the progress, but still a little overwhelmed by how far there is to go - close to leaving class 3 obese, and I know that will be a victory but it still makes me go 'FFS!' But I've lost 38lbs, which is great, and also snuck into the 260s, and each time you go down into the ten below it feels good doesn't it? Plus, I can now cut my toe nails with ease, which is a joy we all share when we get there!

Bumped into a neighbour yesterday who is a very slim and very fit lady in her early 60s - she runs, cycles, not an ounce of extra weight on her. She asked about my weight loss, and I told her honestly I was on MJ, and she went all misty eyed and said she wished she could get hold of some. She'd read about its potential effect on decreasing chances of dementia, which both her parents suffered with - interesting how each time a report like that comes out, we become a tiny bit more socially acceptable! Also, if all this stuff is true, we'll end up ironically as the healthiest people on the planet!

SW: 307lbs
CW: 269lbs
TW: ???

PinkArt · 04/06/2025 10:35

NSV - I fit back in the seats at the O2 without the fear I'll get wedged stuck 🥳

@FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping I went up to 3.75 when I first moved up a pen. It was coming up to Christmas and I didn't want to risk bad side effects while staying at my sibling's house. It's 45 clicks on the 5 pen if I'm remembering correctly. I never really had bad side effects on 5 as it turned out though.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden Just keep on keeping on and watch the numbers meander downwards. I started with a BMI of 43 and it's 34 now. That starting figure feels a hundred years ago now and it was only in November. Keep celebrating all the wins along the journey though.

TragicMuse · 04/06/2025 13:30

WI: Week 15, will be jabbing 7.5mg tonight.

SW 19st 4lbs (Jan 2025, pre-MJ)
SW on MJ 18st 8lbs (1 Mar 2025)
CW 16st 10.25lbs
Loss this week 1.25lb!!
Total loss 35.75lbs

Interim GW (set by Nutracheck!) 15st 8lbs

it is going but has slowed in the last couple of weeks. And today I am hungry!

Onwards, losers!

GnomeDePlume · 05/06/2025 05:56

Weigh in and jab day.
SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 112.5kg BMI 43.9
GW 60kg BMI 23.4

A small gain on the week, probably not helped by the fact I am carrying a week's worth of food inside me. Need to take more psyllium husk.

I have put in a request (again) to the diabetes nurse for my dosage to be put up to 12.5. Knowing my doctor's surgery this new request will be filed alongside my previous requests. They are probably being used to prop up a wobbly desk in the office.

My lack of food focus still fascinates me. It is likely I will be on mounjaro (or its successors) for life. Is this how normal people feel about food? I dont feel my appetite being suppressed. It feels re-focused away from carbs.

It is good to see all the weight loss on this thread.

WafflingDreamer · 05/06/2025 06:01

Weigh in number 35
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 16st 9lb (BMI 34.4)
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)
1lb down this week
Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0, 1
Total loss 70lbs / 5st 0lb

Finally hit 5st, still feel like my losses are so slow. I moved up to 12.5mg and the suppression has been great but the scales still seem slow to move. I'm hitting an average of 10000 steps every day, I'm doing a 30-45 min home work out 5 days a week combining weights and HIIT and I drink bucket loads as I'm always thirsty.

Still less chance of too much saggy skin I guess

GnomeDePlume · 05/06/2025 06:45

@WafflingDreamer wow! Five stone, that is an amazing achievement.

How do you feel about it?

@WafflingDreamer wow! Five stone, that is an amazing achievement.

How do you feel about it?

Its really weird I have some brilliant photos in the same outfit but without looking at them I feel like I look the same I feel a million times better. Very rarely get out of breath, can walk further for longer and I'm much less likely to offer to drop the kids in the car.

I'm much less likely to stop at McDonald's, embarrassingly a McD breakfast used to be my post night shift treat at least once, sometimes twice a week. I couldn't tell you the last time I ate a breakfast in McDonald's and now if we go my go to is a grilled chicken and bacon salad 🤣

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 05/06/2025 07:16

Wow 5 stone is fantastic! And so great to hear all the positives :). I've noticed how much happier I am to walk to the shop - literally 5mins walk away but I used to avoid it/send the kids...

I weighed this morning (don't check in till tomorrow officially) and am getting closer to my 4 stone mark.. Hopefully 2 more weeks but you never know!

In my shower today (!) I was very aware that my stomach fat just seems... Different. It all seems to have shifted somehow. Whereas I was a giant ball shape with fat sort of sticking out like a shelf from under my boobs (kind of pregnant like but it was all over round!) Now it feels like the top bit which is still fatty had lost a lot and it's all dropped to the lower half. A bit like gravity I guess! I know I've lost a lot but it seems like it's "hanging" more and I'm more aware of the overhang.

Bit hard to think of the words to describe it. I'm 18st so still very very larger so it isn't just "loss" more that it's like it's sunk and mostly hanging around at the lower half of my stomach.

Anyone else relate or am I talking gibberish??

Doggymummar · 05/06/2025 08:06

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I get what you mean. I started at 18 stone 2 and I was a round ball too. I couldn't see my feet in the shower and could only just squeeze through the shower door to be frank. The fat seems to liquify and move to other areas and it did form a weird roll low down. That's gone now, at 12 stone and it's my thighs stubbornly holding on. I noticed my bum has gone flat and my boobs have gone from enormous 36 JJ to a 33 F. I don't know if you follow Lawrence90 on FB? He's had a bypass last year and has gone from 30 stone to 17 and you can see where he has a overhang over his penis/front bum area now. But if you watch his journey you can see how the weight moves around his body. I've not seen any women who have lost that sort of weight and documented it daily so I can't refer to them.

For me the weird shift have gone now and although I've still got a few stone to go, I think it's three still to be in a healthy range on the whole it's better than being round and heavy, it's just a stage to get through and shape wear was really good for compression on the way down.

GnomeDePlume · 05/06/2025 08:08

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden not talking gibberish at all! I am finding the same thing. On me I think it is because my skin is less 'full'.

Having lost a similar amount of weight I am slightly less barrel shaped.

FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping · 05/06/2025 08:48

Jab 3 due this evening so official weekly weigh in this morning: exactly 1kg down.

So that’s 1.9kg down in two weeks - not bad at all given how little effort it has required on my part!

start weight and BMI: 131kg (46.6)
current weight and BMI: 129.1kg (46)

I have ordered a 5mg pen for the next pen - I think maybe I will try 3.75mg to start with though.

eibbed999 · 05/06/2025 09:08

I know exactly what you mean @FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden. My boobs now overshadow my belly, which was previously like you said round and very firm actually, almost like I was pregnant. Now the fat seems to have moved downwards and it's softer, more malleable, like one of those squishy stress balls you squeeze in your hand - my skin is the outside and the low-hanging belly fat is the squishy bit! I'm finding it makes my clothes look a bit yuck, starting to fit into a size 18 in some dresses now, but that low wobble overhang is not awesome to look at.

@Doggymummar - good to hear it moves, maybe it will eventually all be in your big toe! I think shapewear might be my friend for the next few months, even though I hate it. I have a posh event in London coming up and I'm quite excited about fitting into new clothes, but the last few I've tried on the belly droop has spoiled the look, so I think I might need a bit of assistance smoothing my silhouette! Still, if someone had told me I'd be in an 18 this time last year, I'd have been overjoyed, so I'll take the rough with the smooth!

Weightlossprincess · 05/06/2025 09:48

End of week 4 weigh in today.
I think I'm going to be a slow loser, but I'm okay with that now.
Start weight 21 stone 2.5 pounds bmi 49.5
Current 20 stone 6.5 pounds bmi 47.8
So exactly 10 pounds in 4 weeks.
I've lost 2cm off my waist and 1cm off my hips.
I'm thrilled with progress in bmi.

Just took the bonus dose in my 2.5 mg pen, got 0.7ml which is a 2.9mg dose.
Planning to take 3.75 next week

Well done everyone of this week's results x

Iwouldratherbesinging · 05/06/2025 10:26

That’s brilliant @WafflingDreamer! I also hit the 5 stone off this week, doesn’t it feel like a huge achievement and a little bit surreal.
I think mentally i’m still the same as I was when I started, physically I feel different, I’m doing so much more, it’s just the mental side of things. I look at people on TikTok who are the same height and weight as me and I am so much bigger/wider than them 😳

That's exactly how I feel, I'm genuinely thrilled and so happy that there will be less to lose now than I've lost.

I was stupidly reading a thread about dress sizes and plenty of people on that thread weighed the same as me, were shorter and yet in smaller clothes!! I thought my body would change and in reality it has stayed exactly the same but shrunk. I still have a B belly, wide hips and massive thighs 🤣 a lot of times I just think how mental it is that I am still fat, not just fat but obese and yet I have lost 5 bloody stone.

Crikeyalmighty · 05/06/2025 10:40

@Iwouldratherbesinging I doubt they are , I think it might be a mental thing of how you perceive yourself but also your build too - I’m 13 stone 12 at moment and5ft 4 - my H doesn’t even think I’m fat at all - just curvy with big boobs ( and he’sthe same weight but much taller)

TheBroonOneAndTheWhiteOne · 05/06/2025 10:57

@WafflingDreamer my weightloss is also very slow now, but it's definitely still going down.

@FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden I also relate to your experiences in the shower with regard to redistribution of fat. My tummy fat looks very different nowadays. My favourite NSV in my shower though, is getting in and out without squashing through the door.

GnomeDePlume · 05/06/2025 11:21

@eibbed999 have you tried dresses with a fitted bodice and A line skirt? A rigid fabric rather than one with any sort of stretch to it will skim belly fat rather than cupping it.

TheZingyFish · 05/06/2025 11:44

It is really interesting hearing about how people are finding their body changes as they lose weight. I know I must have lost some weight as I can feel some clothes are a but looser, trousers/jeans are sitting a little lower on my hips rather than around my waist, and are getting a bit baggier around my bum and thighs. The thing I have noticed is that the fat on my stomach, bum
and thighs feels looser. Whereas before it felt quite solid, it is softening up so in some ways is more flabby as the skin empties out.

I am under no illusion that I will be left with lots of loose skin as a result of this, as a 50 year old woman there is only so much elasticity left but I do feel the health benefits will out weigh (no pun intended) this, and some surgery could be a possibility at sometime in the future.

In the past, I’ve been confident enough to wear a bikini on holidays, as found them more flattering than a swimsuit, as everything (ridiculously large bust) was held in the right places, but I do worry how I might feel in 10 stone time.

Hearditonapodcast · 05/06/2025 11:45

NSV- I am no longer morbidly obese, I am simply obese 🙌🏼
Jab 6 today, 2.5mg still and I've lost exactly 1.5 stone.

I've been feeling really hungry all week, but not responding to the hunger in the same way as I would previously. I'm still making good choices, although it is slightly harder I'll admit, but I'm still losing and my blood glucose is still controlled. I know the jabs work in 2 ways, they work on your brain and they delay gastric emptying, so I'm guessing the 2.5 is still working on my brain, but maybe not on my stomach? Which is why I'm feeling hungry, but not responding to it. I'll ask to move up once I'm done with this pen. I was really hoping to stay on the 2.5 a little longer, but I know when to admit defeat.

SilenceInside · 05/06/2025 11:46

@Weightlossprincess I wouldn't describe 10 pounds in 4 weeks as a slow loss, as it's higher than the expected rate of 1 to 2 pounds a week, and 2.5mg isn't even intended to produce significant weight loss for the majority. So you're doing really well.

eibbed999 · 05/06/2025 12:47

GnomeDePlume · 05/06/2025 11:21

I'm currently experimenting via Vinted, so I will have a look, thanks!

Weightlossprincess · 05/06/2025 12:59

@SilenceInside thabks i guess im just comparing myself to peopl3 who have lost a stone in 3 weeks and so in, but im happy with this rate, as it seems more sustainable.

Weightlossprincess · 05/06/2025 13:01

Guys, what do you use the track the bmi and work out what level of obesity you are and what weights you need to be to reach each milestone.
The one I use on the nhs site just says obese, no levels...and you can't see what weights take ypu away from there
