Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

That's interesting info., thanks. I might review what I'd planned now! I've still got time to decide, would prefer to stay at 2.5mg, just didn't want to be stuck with it for 4 weeks if stopped working as well as now.

You could do what a few people do, and get a 5mg pen anyway - that's what I do, and I only use half a dose. It's very easy, instead of clicking it round to the full dose, you turn it for 30. Then you have the option to go up without needing another pen. Of course it depends on price/supplier etc, if the 5 pen is a lot more expensive that might change your mind - mine was the same as the 2.5 so it made sense! I feel reassured having it.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 28/05/2025 13:36

I did 4 weeks on 2.5, 4 weeks on 5 and am now on week 12 of 7.5 and have just received my next 7.5 pen. This feels like the right dose for me, I’m getting good suppression, no side effects and losing 3lbs a week so don’t feel like I need to go up a dose yet.

I just did my measurements! Totes NSV-tastic!!

Pre-March 2025
HB 44”
FB 50-51”
UB 44”
W 47”
H 57”

27/05/25
HB 40.5-41”
FB 48”
UB 40.5-41”
W 41.5-42”
H 51.5-52”

I’m so pleased! Some of my smaller bras which I put away a long time ago will soon be back in the undies drawer. Ditto pants!!

HB = high bust
FB = full bust
UB = under bust
W = waist
H = hip

Edited

Excellent new measurements! Also good to see a sewists range!

TragicMuse · 28/05/2025 17:22

@Hearditonapodcast I did 4 weeks of 2.5mg, then 2 pens of 5mg. I’m doing the extra dose tonight and am going to take the 0.8-0.9ml left in my 5mg pen which should be close to or on 7.5mg and then I have a new 7.5 to start next week!

I am doing well - 34lbs in 14 weeks. But my suppression has really gone down so I want to keep it at bay for now. I only go up if I really need to, I will want to stay at 7.5 for as long as possible…

FourSeasonsTotalLandscaping · 28/05/2025 17:24

My second jab is due tomorrow evening. Any suppression effects from 2.5mg are definitely wearing off now - I’m starving today!

From what I've read and seen, everybody reacts very differently to MJ - it's very individual. You'll find your groove, and it won't be quite like anyone else's! I'm still on 2.5, but others have found the sweet spot at higher doses. That's why the higher doses exist I suppose - good luck, hope the starvation feeling passes soon!

This was me! Starving hungry in last 2 days of my first week but can happily report the 2nd jab has seemed to last me all week through to my 3rd dose 🎊🎊🎊

Lds1 · 28/05/2025 19:48

I officially weigh tomorrow but from today's weight it seems like it's going to be a disappointing week! Never going to make it to my next goal 😔

TragicMuse · 28/05/2025 22:04

Oh bum. That’s a blow @Lds1 I hope it goes ok for you.

I got 0.8ml from my pen so that’s 6.66mg. A good step-up towards 7.5mg next week.

Iwouldratherbesinging · 28/05/2025 22:18

Fingers crossed for you @Lds1 🤞🏼

Weigh in and jab day.

SW 137kg BMI 53.5
CW 112.2kg BMI 43.8
GW 60kg BMI 23.4

That's 800g down, 1.75lbs. Total loss so far 3 stone 12lbs. I'm now 17 stone 9lbs, I am properly in the 17 stone range which means that the 16 stone range is only a few weeks away.

Excitingly, I am now on the NHS BMI chart. In the morbidly obese section but I'm on the chart!

I dont know what the NHS call the section which isnt even on their chart. I think they think of it as here be monsters. What do you call people who are beyond morbidly obese? And here in lies the problem with the NHS BMI fixation. The morbidly obese section was supposed to frighten us: you're all going to die! It was overly dramatic because here we all are. Perhaps it gave HCPs an excuse to not really help us, 'what's the point, you're going to die'.

Or perhaps I am reading too much into the chart. It conveniently fits onto an A4 piece of paper so can be printed out and pinned on the wall above the scales in a medical room.

I am cynical about medical guidance which conveniently 'fits' something administrative.

Ever wondered why the original recommended alcohol limits are conveniently divisible by 7 (ie drinks per night)? Apparently the committee tasked with coming up with guidance were faced with an awful lot of evidence which was totally contradictory. In the end they talked about what they themselves drank and came to the conclusion that 2-3 drinks per night was probably okay. A tablet of stone was born.

WafflingDreamer · 29/05/2025 06:28

Weigh in number 34
SW 21st 9lb (BMI 44.7)
CW 16st 10lb (BMI 34.6)
GW 11st 9lb (BMI 24.1)

0lb down this week

Losses so far; 4, 1, 5, 1, 3, 4, 2, 2, 2, 4, 1, +3, 5, 1, 3, 2, 4, 3, 1, 1, 3, 1, 1, 3, 3, 1, 1, 0, 2, 3, 1, 2, 2, 0
Total loss 69lbs / 4st 13lb

So close to 5st and yet... I'm genuinely sad and annoyed which is absolutely crazy because if you told me in October when I started that I'd have lost 4st 13lb in 35 weeks I'd have obviously been beyond thrilled. Its been a tough week with the kids off school, I'm not drinking as much and we are eating out more.

It's taken a bit longer to lose this last stone, it will have been 10 weeks assuming I get there next week. Most of the others came off within 7 weeks, I know it's still a decent loss and still works out as just under 1.5lb a week. I guess its just frustrating when I still have so far to go!

Motnight · 29/05/2025 07:01

@WafflingDreamer well done! Completely get why you are feeling the way you are (started at a very, very similar weight to you but my BMI was much higher) and have lost 5 1/2 stone. Sometimes the overwhelming feeling I have is not one of achievement but more of annoyance of how much I still have to lose. Which takes away from what I have managed so far and is just rubbish.

We just need to keep plodding on and being kind to ourselves I think. It's a bizarre feeling because when I read on here about large weight loses from people who still have a long way to go I always think how well they have done. But can't see that really for myself 🤔

GnomeDePlume · 29/05/2025 07:02

@WafflingDreamer I understand that frustration. So much of dieting is around arbitrary goals.

As you lose weight it will get harder to lose weight, you are moving much less weight about. You have used up the easily available fat stores, now your body is having to go further back into the stores.

Motnight · 29/05/2025 07:03

And well done @GnomeDePlume.

Finally a loss ,4 lbs off this week
Taking me to over a 6 stone loss
Tomorrow is the first day of 15 mg
And ideally I'd like to loose another 6 stone ,but I'd settle for 4.
Sometimes I do get urges to absolutely stuff my face ,but I've managed to not give in.so that's 8 months of eating relatively normally.
I have lost a lot of weight before, and never managed to keep it of
So I am concerned about how I will manage to keep it of this time
Still got to actually get to a normal BMI before I worry about that

@Veganpug that's a brilliant loss. I am starting 15 mg pension next week. Feeling a bit unsure about it and had hoped not to ever get to 15 mg but have decided that is what I need.

And the 10,000 steps a day was from a marketing campaign and chosen because the Japanese symbol for 10,000 looks like a person walking. It's fascinating how quickly we all take things as fact. Walking more is obviously good for us all, drinking less is too, but the magic numbers that get quoted everywhere aren't actually so magical.

Weigh in 1 on jab day 2:

SW (the day I ordered the Mounjaro): 134.8kg

Weight at 1st jab: 131kg

CW: 130.1kg.

So a total loss of 4.9kg but only 0.9kg attributable to the MJ! A good start, but I did secretly hope for a bit more (don’t we all?)

eibbed999 · 29/05/2025 08:32

10th weigh-in day, 11th jab day (moved forward from Fri to Thursday), and pretty good - another 4lb down. So I have now lost 35lbs, or 2.5 stone, and I feel like I will eventually get there. But I'm wondering if there's something in the air at the moment, because like a few of you I can't find the joy in it - just a slight weariness about how far there is to go! The lightest I have been since I had my kids many years ago was 249lbs, which I reached during lockdown - I had a lighter starting point, and all the pubs and restaurants were shut and I did a lot more proper cooking because we were all at home. That plus Yoga with Adriene, really worked for me. I'm still a way off that, and obviously I piled it all back on with interest . So today when I weighed in and had a good loss, I looked at photos of myself from back then, and decided I still looked gross and disgusting and awful. Why do we do these things to ourselves? I suppose most of us have had decades if not whole lifetimes of the world telling us that we are gross and disgusting and awful, and that seeps in and takes hold. Also the self-loathing leads to the over-eating, at least in my experience. It's a complicated thing, and I am very grateful to MJ for finally offering me a sustainable way out - but I guess it's going to be a long and winding road, with a lot of work to do outside the weight loss.

SW: 307lbs
CW: 272 lbs
TW: ??

Hasn’t done anything for my arithmetic skills - total loss of 4.7kg not 4.9kg!

GnomeDePlume · 29/05/2025 08:45

@PinkArt thank you for that 'fact' about 10,000 steps.

Another is the 5 different pieces of fruit/veg per day especially when it is joined with 'eat seasonally'.

Obviously not thought up by someone who grows their own. We grow a lot but the best I can manage right now is cabbage, lettuce and a few forced carrots and strawberries.

We aren't stupid but are constantly fed soundbite 'facts'. It all comes with a strong whiff of 'and if you don't follow these rules you have failed'.

I didn’t realise so many of us weigh and jab on a Thursday! I’m 4lbs down this week, taking my total to 6st 3lbs, and I’m into the 18s! (Both on the scales and in clothes sizes)! Can’t actually believe I’ve lost over 6 stone! Still a long way to go but I’m well on my way 🙌

Well done that's so fabulous! I'm 16st 10lb and I still can't get into 18 bottoms. I seem to have lost almost all of my 5st from my chest and face, my arse and thighs really need to catch up!! 🤣 I have got into 18 tops and my size 20 coat that I bought last month is getting roomy!!

Hi all!

I used to be on this thread end of last year but had horrid side effects so took a break.
I'm back!

CW 19st 11lb (back on 2.5mg since 1st May).
interim goal 18st (Sept 25 fingers crossed!)

hope you are all doing well and numbers going down!
