Thought I'd kick start a new thread for this oh so supportive little group, as the last thread was reaching it's limit.

That all sounds very familiar @UsernameShmusername2024 - I love pubs as well as loving a pint! I love the sense of community and the warmth of people being together (when it's good, that is!). And yes, all my friends are still big drinkers. It's caused a few raised eyebrows. One of them said - totally without ANY malice, just an observation! - that she was confused now, because her old drinking plan was always to drink half as much as me! The other night I nursed 2 G&Ts for a whole quiz night, whereas I used to easily put away a nice 6 pints of lager. Part of me misses that version of myself, but enough was enough. Just because I CAN drink a lot doesn't mean I should! Plus the beer often led to late night take-aways.

I love cocktails too @TragicMuse but so many of them are made with super-sugary syrup mixes, and of course it's those my taste buds want - multiple frozen Margs please!

I've sold masses of stuff on Vinted now @Onenotsosmallstep - I'd never even considered it til I joined this thread! It started with clothes but recently I decided to get rid of a load of my Doc Martens (I had over 20 pairs, which no human being actually needs!) which has been quite lucrative. Like you though I have bought as well - some nice dresses in an 18, which is a way off but not so distant I can't imagine it, depending on the fabric and style. Aspirational purchases!

I have some white DM sandals to list how much so you reckon ? Size 4 worn outside twice and indoors lots trying to brake them in.

eibbed999 · 16/05/2025 18:14

I've been selling mine relatively cheaply @Doggymummar, because they've been sitting around my house for years. Mine have ranged in price from £70 to £25. Have a little look at similar ones and see what you think. They are buggers to break in, and the sandals are definitely not as comfy as they used to be - in previous decades I've lived in my Docs sandals all summer, but these days I think they look better than they feel! Mine have all been shoes and boots, was surprised they went in this weather - sandals might fare better!

Doggymummar · 16/05/2025 18:15

I'll have to get the blood off first. Lil, so painful 😣

Well done everyone on your losses 🥳 I weighed this morning and it said 16 stone 13.9 lbs! So I’m officially in the 16’s! One of my goals is to weigh less than my husband - it’s always made me self-conscious that I weigh more than him for some reason. Does anyone else feel like this? To whoever posted about the diarrhoea - I too have IBS and have found I get these symptoms too. It’s more apparent if I don’t eat, hopefully it’s temporary

I had a mini celebration when I weighed less than my husband, for the first time in our 38 years of marriage!! I’m now a stone less than him 🤩

Suppliers won’t let you increase unless you’ve been on a dose for 4 weeks. I got my 2.5 from Asda as I wanted to pick it up. They have a message system where you can ask questions but take a couple of days to reply - I assume you can just ask in person too. I got the 5 from MedExpress because I got a good discount. I’ve just ordered 7.5 from Cloud Pharmacy. All three have been approved within hours and had no problems with any of them. They all seem on par with each other so far

Of course, I don't know why but in my sleep deprived brain I was thinking 4 months... makes perfect sense now!

Haha, yes I can relate. Who you gonna go with, have you decided?

Welcome @Quitepossibly! No-one will prescribe in a way that moves you up quicker than a dose level every 4 weeks. 2.5 is designed to get your body used to the medication - going higher faster is the quickest route to horrific side effects.
I went with medexpress because of the discount codes and haven't switched yet. I'm planning to for the next pen though now I'm on 7.5 as the savings are bigger than when I was on 5. I wasn't fussed about the support any of them claim to offer - for me the real life user help on these threads has been the level of support I needed.

Thanks for the welcome. Yes, I'm quite happy to swap suppliers as I progress. As you say, support can be found on here from those who have first-hand experience.

TragicMuse · 16/05/2025 20:07

I also want to weigh less than himself!

He’s 6’ 4” and has long bones. It’s ridiculous that I weigh more than him!

But soon I won’t.

Quitepossibly · 16/05/2025 20:09

@Potato1234 yep, took the plunge this afternoon and placed an order with IQ Doctor. Slightly annoyed at the £4.99 p&p charge which was unexpected, so not sure how long I'll stay with them. Took photos for the consultation and I'm mortified. So used to wearing clothes that hide my weight... seeing photos of myself in tighter fitting clothes was not pretty!

Onenotsosmallstep · 16/05/2025 20:09

I had the thought about weighing less than my OH too just today! This sounds really mean but he also has issues around food, nowhere near my weight issues but could probably do with losing a good 3-4 stone. Now sometimes when I see him eating significantly to excess (4 breaded chicken fillets in bread the other night) I find it a bit of an ick. I still find him physically attractive so it’s not his weight but something to do with the large portions of food. I feel terribly mean typing that though because he’s always been lovely about my weight/eating.

I know what you mean. 1.5 stone and I’ll be lighter than him 😁. We will get there!

Potato1234 · 16/05/2025 20:12

@Quitepossibly yeah I think they justify the p&p because it’s a refrigerated item! Hope it arrives soon for you and good luck

Potato1234 · 16/05/2025 20:17

@Onenotsosmallstep its sounds like you’re more concerned about his health as opposed to how he looks. If he feels that he wants to lose weight then he has all of your knowledge and experience to go off. I’ve said previously that my husband wants to lose weight, but refuses to pay for both of us to be on MJ. Saying that, he can lose weight very easily… unlike me!

You'll appreciate those photos (Photos Of Doom) as you progress. My first ones are fucking awful but hugely helpful to see the progress I've made since then. I take side and front on pics plus a non flattering selfie when I start a new pen.

Oushk charge £7.99 postage. I was with Chequp before and theirs is free/included.

Lds1 · 16/05/2025 21:09

Glad to see there are other chair haters! I avoided restaurants/bars where chairs have arms.

I probably should take more photos at some point to see if I can see the change on photos yet.

My husband and I are similar heights so there wouldn't be much difference in weight at the end of this.

Fffreeeeezing · 16/05/2025 21:42

Week 9 weigh in today on my second 5mg pen and another 3lb taking me to a 2st4lb loss.

It’s the 6TH week in a row I’ve lost 3lb, ALMOST tempted to eat more this week just so I get a different loss next week, It’s getting a bit monotonous 🤣

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/05/2025 22:36

Restaurant booths terrify me, it was either my boobs or stomach that would get wedged in. I haven’t tried one in a long while so I could be pleasantly surprised now.
Driving is also feeling like a different experience, there is now so much room between my stomach and the steering wheel, I was also convinced that the seat had been lowered today but it hadn’t, trying to figure out why I feel ‘lower’, weight loss from bum and thighs maybe? It’s an odd one!

Iwouldratherbesinging · 16/05/2025 22:45

I have loads of photos of doom, all in a ‘hidden’ folder, can only open with Face ID. I use an app called procreate on my iPad for art stuff and regularly add before and after photos onto ‘canvases’ so I can properly compare those first photos with the latest ones, it’s quite shocking but good to see the difference. I doubt l’ll ever be happy with how I look but it is good to see the progress.

Can I admit to the fact that my husband has very rarely seen me naked… or even with just underwear on, I just cannot do it, I recoil at the thought. He has always loved me at any size, I know that this is a ‘me’ problem and I’m working on it.

jennieflower · 16/05/2025 22:48

Is it ok if I join you ladies? I started Mounjaro on 24th April at 20st 13 3/4lbs, as I started on the 2.5mg dose I wanted to dose up quickly so I’ve been injecting on day 6 rather than 7, and I’ve pushed the pen to get the magic dose. So far, I’m 18lbs down and about to start on 5mg.

Last weekend I wore jeans for the first time in 2-3 years and I’m so happy!

Billybingbong · 17/05/2025 00:29

Hello @jennieflower and welcome to the most supportive thread on MN 🙂. It looks like you've made a great start, it's a super feeling watching to scales drop every week isn't it.

We all felt the same @Quitepossibly - just view it as the last time you will ever be as heavy as that!

I always remember an episode of This Is Us where Kate was taken to a restaurant and they wanted to sit the group at a booth. She just flat-out said no, I can't fit there, and as with so many things that happened to her, my heart bled and I had a little cry! If they made that show now, Kate would deffo be on Mounjaro!

NSV from yesterday, I walked up to our allotment which is about a 15 minute walk away. I would normally drive.

But it wasn't just the walk. I felt totally different about it. I didn't need to psych myself up to it. I just grabbed my gardening bag and left. Then had a lovely morning pottering around planting and sowing. I even suggested to DH that we went back in the late afternoon to do some watering in the orchard.

I seem to have been abducted by aliens!

One for you @TragicMuse , yesterday I sewed a concealed zip into a dress I have now just finished for DD. Zips have always been my nemesis but I have discovered zip tape which for me is a game changer, no pinning or basting required.

FatsiaJaponicaInTheGarden · 17/05/2025 06:53

This Is Us is the best series I have ever watched. And yes so many of the storylines around Kates weight I so related to.
