Just starting up a new thread!

OP posts:

Hi you lovely lot! Nearly 1 year in and I have lost 2lbs shy of 5 stone - not as much as a lot of you and have a way to go but I am quite frankly amazed

Staying on 7.5mg for financial reasons as they price gets unattainable for me at any more

SW 19.10
CW 14.12
GW - initially 13.7 (to be able to ride a horse!) but see where next year takes me

I reckon I will be a lifer this has completely changed my life for the better and even though i am still obese I feel so much better in loads of ways!

Lindy0070 · 24/11/2025 16:15

@Julesni77 That was one of my targets too!!! To get back on a horse 😂😂

shrinkingfi · 24/11/2025 17:13

Thursday is my 52nd jab. 4 stone gone and 25% of my body weight. More work to do but I wouldn’t believe this progress was possible. Thank you to everyone on the group for the unending support. Has anyone noticed how much more spacious toilet cubicles are these days?

TrinityWaves · 25/11/2025 09:00

Quick Tuesday check-in! Almost at 1 year on MJ now (bonkers!!)

Loss this week: -0.8 lb
SW: 263.4 lb
CW: 150 lb
TL: 113.4 lb
TW: 143 lb - so exactly half a stone to go

I really would've love to have hit target by the end of this year but unlikely.

Yes! And seats on tubes, trains and airplanes too!

Julesni77 · 26/11/2025 12:17

@Goinghome25 I am really hoping so by spring :)

Thanks for your support really means so much😍

OrangeDonald · 26/11/2025 15:33

You're all doing so well, its lovely to read the updates.

Im very close to target weight now. My bmi is currently 25.3 and ive lost 20.8% of my starting weight.

7.5 made me feel ick, so ive dropped back down to 5mg - it means the scales are only dropping about 0.5lbs a week but slow and steady losses is still overall a downward graph.

JunoRoma · 26/11/2025 18:54

I tried to wear my (fake) oodie for the first time since last winter.

Last winter the fit was just right, like a very generous / oversized hoodie.
It is now next to useless. 😆 It is so big on me that it gets in the way of doing things but doesn't actually insulate much, as there's too much of a gap between the fabric and my body. You could literally fit two of me inside it.

I've had to rescue a normal fleece hoodie from the 'two sizes too big' bag I had kept in the loft, to wear instead.

TrinityWaves · 02/12/2025 08:14

Just over 1 year on MJ!

Loss this week: -1.8 lb
SW: 263.4 lb
CW: 148.2 lb
TL: 115.2 lb
TW: 143 lb

Slimwannabe · 03/12/2025 00:04

Also just had my Mounjaversary! Only 1lb off so didn't quite get to the 13s, but almost there!

SW: 273lb
CW: 196.5lb
TL: 76.5lb
TW: Still not sure!

I think I have still another 6 months at least to go, maybe more depending on how I feel. A year ago I didn't anticipate that this journey would be so long - but losing 70+lbs also felt like an impossibility! I'm really pleased with my progress, especially as I have been so lucky so far with minimal side effects, no hair thinning/loss, and no loose skin (yet).

Definitely feeling the hunger much (much) more so might be time to consider moving up to 10mg in 2026, but also interested in seeing how well I can manage on assisted willpower.

Hello all! Long time no see. Life has been crazy last few months - but today is also my Mounjaversery so I thought I would check in on you all and update. So pleased to see all the losses and NSVs. Who would have thought so many of us would be here a year later having lost the equivalent of so many people in weight! And it’s also amazing to see the range of losses and experiences. I’ve been lurking and this group has really helped me so thank you all.

week 52
SW 15 stone
CW 11 stone 4
TW 9 stone
total loss 3 stone 10, exactly 52 lbs or a pound a week. 25% of my start weight gone and a BMI from morbidly obese to merely overweight!

I’ve had whooshes, plateaus and ups and downs, but looking at it over the year really helps me see how far I’ve come. Still a way to go- I think I’ll be on some variant of the drug for at least another year, cost permitting, and possibly after that too. But for me it already feels like a miracle. I’ve been fat my whole life, to a greater or lesser extent and seriously fat the last few years, and never sustained a meaningful weight loss. Now clothes from normal shops fit. I think I look nice. I fit in the world a lot easier (especially plane and train seats!). I’m more active and happier. Hurrah for Mounjaro!

Dose wise I’d been on 12.5 for a while but noticed slower weight loss and more hunger so moved up to 15 last week to kick start my second year. Big mistake. Huge. Puking and unable to eat for 2 days. This week have counted clicks to take 12.5 from my 15 pen which seems better. Suppression still high and if I stick go this with golden dose should be able to get 6 jabs out of a pen which will help with cost management as well.

Well done again all, those that like me still have a way to go as well as those of you in the sunlit uplands of maintenance and a healthy BMI!

mjjourney · 03/12/2025 14:33

Hi all! I had my one year anniversary on 30th November

SW - 14st 11lbs
CW - 10st 4lbs
TW - 9st 7lbs

4st 7lbs lost - and I feel amazing! I am the lowest weight since 2016 and just an extra push required to get to target but the last few months have been sloooooowwwww

i went up to 12.5 but back down to 10mg due to cost. I plan on using my next 10mg pen to get a 5mg dose to last longer and see how I go!

well done everyone on their journey!

LoopieLoo17 · 03/12/2025 15:11

Hi all!

It’s also my one year anniversary today!
I honestly can’t believe it has been a whole year. Last December I was feeling so miserable, I had tried and tried to lose weight with not much success. I have been a yo-yo dieter most of my adult life, but I was the heaviest I had ever been this time last year. I didn’t want another year to pass by without addressing how being so overweight was making me feel. I was nervous about using the jab, how the side effects might be, how my family and friends might react.
After much deliberation I decided to give it a go, and I can honestly say it’s the best thing I’ve done! I decided early on that I wouldn’t tell anyone about being on it, not even my husband!! He still doesn’t know, he just thinks I’m being very disciplined with my portion sizes ha,ha. I think my daughter has twigged, although she hasn’t said anything to me.
I’m happy with where I am at the moment, although I’m nowhere near ideal BMI, my weight loss has been slow and steady but I’m happy with that.
Due to the cost I’m now buying 15mg pens and clicking 12.5mg and making them last longer than usual, I’m happy doing this even though it’s going against the manufacturers instructions.

I would like to thank you all for your support throughout the past year, there are many a time I’ve read through your comments for inspiration and I have appreciated the banter between you all and although I don’t post very often I really do love this fantastic group of likeminded people 😁

SW 16s 2lbs
CW 12s 8lbs
TW I haven’t decided yet!

My BMI is still in the obese range so ideally I need to lose another 2 stone or more, I’m taking it a day at a time.
Wishing you all a merry festive season and hope to keep hearing from you all into the New Year! x

JunoRoma · 03/12/2025 18:41

Loving the anniversary updates 🎉

Slimwannabe · 03/12/2025 19:40

Congratulations to everyone hitting their anniversaries - haven't we done amazingly?!

OP posts:
Lindy0070 · 03/12/2025 20:01

It’s my mounjaversary today too!!! Took my 52nd jab this morning 🙌🏻🙌🏻

SW 213 pounds
CW 170 pounds
TW 161 pounds (11 stone 7 pounds) but may revise this down a bit more if I can!!

3 stone off with 9 pounds to go!!

Congratulations to everyone on this thread!!! I think reading all the posts it’s clear that everyone has found comfort and support from the highs and lows that people have gone through.
Like some of you I haven’t told anyone that I’m on the jab. I’ve had a few passive aggressive comments that I’ve just batted away. I’m sure people wouldn’t say such things to your face if you’d put in a load of weight!! Anyway, I’ve got one 15mg pen which I’ve yet to start and I’m going to stretch it out for as long as the new year hopefully!!
Have a great week everyone 🎉🙌🏻👍🏻

Goinghome25 · 04/12/2025 06:31

Hello everyone and HAPPY MJ Aniversary to us all this month.🙂🥳🩷

.... and to anyone reading this thread wondering whether to start.. DO IT!
but only tell people who will support you!

Irs been so uplifting to read everyones postivie updates, and realising what an amazing impact this medication has had on all of our lives, and what fantastic support this group continues to be.

This time last year I was feeling very low about my uncontrollable menopausal weight gain, knee and hip pain and feeling really helpless in the face of it.

An old school friend posted on SM about her 5st loss on MJ and her courage and openness about it sparked something...... respect for her ... and so I came on here and read the MN threads.
Then took the leap and with all your support havent looked back!

Losing this amount of weight is life changing - its not an understatement. I think I understand some of the fear and anger surrounding this medication.

I have my health, mobility, strength and power back!

Keeping it off is next. I have accepted that I need this medication to do that, its not a flaw in me its just biology! I need to make peace with that and am working more hours to afford it long term. I hope that MJ has given me the good health to keep doing that.

Congratulations to all of us!
Im really feeling quite emotional now 🩷

OrangeDonald · 05/12/2025 13:48

Im a few days off my MJ anniversary, but this morning i stood on the scales and my target weight flashed up at me.

Reaching my pre covid, pre perimenopasual weight gain seemed like an impossible target for me this time last year. I'd spent ages unhappy with my weight gain, it had slowly crept up on me inch by inch, year by year. In fact even with what i thought was a relatively good diet and exercise i was still expanding round the middle.

Much like @Goinghome25 I've realised I'll need to stay on this medication long term. Its not only helped control my weight, but it's done magical things for my random menopausal knee and shoulder inflammation too.

The MJ has helped overhaul my diet and mindset towards food. Ive really focused on cutting out UPF. I have regular butter instead of low fat spread, i now bake my own bread, i read the back of food packets no longer focusing on calories instead searching for dreaded emulsifiers and preservatives. I now find a bowl of natural yoghurt with seeds, nuts and chopped up fruit more delicious than a pack of crisps and a chocolate bar. I have developed a weird crush on Prof Tim Spector from listening to him on podcasts.

I need to speak with my provider and see what they suggest for maintenence. Titrating down, spacing jabs to 10+ days, etc.

But i want to thank you all for sharing your experiences over the past 12 months - its certainly helped to read about other peoples side effects, dose increases, shotsy app recommendation, click counting, plateaus, panics about price increases, etc.

@OrangeDonald congratulations on reaching your target!

Great news and well done @OrangeDonald!

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 07/12/2025 13:17

One week until my anniversary, the stall has been broken - finally and I'm now 10st 6lb. So a total of 4st 3lb lost.
Im targeting 9 stone9lb for that 5 stone loss.

I went shopping yesterday. I'm in size 12 clothes, my legs look amazing and my knee high boots that have never zipped past my ankles fit really well.

i still sometimes see big me in the mirror; but I found my original pic in bra and pants I took for MedExpress. I look completely different.

I'm still on 4mg, so a pens lasting 6 weeks and really happy with the suppression at that dose.

Great to see everyone's news :)!

frogpigdonkey · 09/12/2025 08:59

Great news @MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals!

i struggle to see the new me sometimes too. I can objectively see it- smaller clothes, taking up less of a seat etc. I bought a new full length mirror to help and ironically it’s a bit warped and makes me look both taller and thinner than I actually am so doesn’t help at all! Photos are good, as is the look on the faces of people I haven’t seen for ages!
