Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Thread 3

Just starting up a new thread!

OP posts:
JunoRoma · 05/05/2025 10:55

@Goinghome25 I've also been buying identical clothes in gradually smaller sizes.

stillshrinkingthisspring · 05/05/2025 12:37

I’m trying to get the same clothes smaller too! Although now I’m starting to realize that I could probably branch out a bit, because I no longer need things that hide or just hint at my figure.

I actually ordered a jumpsuit yesterday so will see if that works when it arrives. I’m very long in the body so they’ve always been too short before, but I’m hoping that a more moderate bottom will help. I irrationally ordered a 16 despite being well within the measurements for the 14 - I obviously don’t really believe it could fit.

OrangeDonald · 05/05/2025 16:03

Just checking in to thread 3.

Spent ages wondering why all the other mounjaro starter threads were on higher numbered threads (January starters have nearly filled up 7 threads, feb are on thread 5). Then i realised that most people dont start their diet in December and it all made sense again.

I went to the pub at the weekend. Had a Sunday roast, which was delicious but i could only manage around half of it - was busy sneaking roasties off my plate and feeding them to bottomless pit teenagers.

I haven't ordered many new clothes yet, instead I'm swimming around in breezy dresses that are now becoming noticeably too large.

stillshrinkingthisspring · 05/05/2025 16:10

I was thinking about that too! But yes, we were presumably relatively few in Dec. Also it seems likely that the numbers of people taking WLI are increasing exponentially at the moment. April even has two separate threads for early and late in the month! If you look at earlier last year, there aren’t nearly as many on the threads, and the average starting BMI seems a lot higher. A year later there seem to be quite a lot of people who are starting right at the bottom of the eligibility range. Would be interesting to see stats from the providers.

Youre right!
I hadnt thought of that!

We are an elite group here on December starters!

i am so glad I started then as I started 2025 nearly a stone lighter! Unbelievable really!

I think more people are seeing friends and family becoming healthier on MJ and there are so many more adverts on SM. Unless thats the algorithms seeking me out via this thread!

JunoRoma · 05/05/2025 17:45

I actually started at the end of November, but the November thread already seemed well established and really busy, and it felt too much like trying to join a new class at school after everyone else had started four weeks ago.

Goinghome25 · 05/05/2025 18:57

Im glad youre with us @JunoRoma your posts are always helpful

JunoRoma · 05/05/2025 19:22

That's very kind @Goinghome25 - I really value this group, especially as I've only told half a dozen people IRL.

In my fourth week on 5mg I developed unpleasant gastric side effects so I reduced the dose to 4.4mg, which resolved the issue.
In the fourth and fifth week on the reduced dose of 4.4mg I was finding it less effective (less satiety, getting hungry sooner after meals) so this evening I've increased to 5mg again. I'm really hoping the side effects don't return. 🤞🏻

Goinghome25 · 05/05/2025 21:10

Ive only told one friend.who is also taking MJ.

Told dh but he wasnt listening. Told him again and he hasnt mentioned it since. But he is happy to eat all the food I dont want anymore!

OrangeDonald · 05/05/2025 21:38

My weirdest side effect is probably that i now hate going to the supermarket. Because food still doesnt massively interest me, so it just feels like a chore - i used to swan round and fill my trolley up with all the yummy things. But now im more focused on buying plenty of veg and protein, and just find no joy in it.

My dh & dc have definitely noticed that there are no delicious random treats in the fridge anymore. That is their main complaint, today they moaned about the lack of magnum icecreams that used to always be hiding somewhere in the freezer.

stillshrinkingthisspring · 05/05/2025 21:57

Hope the dose works for you this time, Juno!

JunoRoma · 06/05/2025 07:18

SW 107 kg (BMI 39.3)
CW 81 kg (BMI 29.8)
GW 75 kg (BMI 27.5)

Loss this week: 1 kg
Now just overweight rather than obese! 🥳

Lindy0070 · 06/05/2025 08:13

Hi all, just checking in with all the December starters. I haven’t posted in a while as I’ve either stayed the same, lost a pound or gained a pound. Like some of you have commented already, I’ve been on 7.5mg for a few weeks and seem to be stuck. I’ve stayed around 191-2 lbs for the last 5 weeks.
On jab day last Saturday, I decided to up my dosage to 8.25mg as per someone’s post. See how this week goes. I’ve got terrible sore throat from yesterday so not feeling great anyway.
On a positive note, I tried on some white tops in Next yesterday and they were all size 14. Definitely a NSV and I’ve definitely lost some of my back fat!!
I must take some measurements this week too to motivate me and recognise that slow progress is better than none. I’m 22 pounds down and can feel the benefits.
Great to see everyone is doing well and it seems we’re all having similar blips along the way.

Hello
Good to hear all going well, nsv are ace!

Remember too we are all losing internal fat around our organs which might not show on the scales but has such a positive impact on long term health goals.

I did a cheeky weigh this morning and I have put in 2lbs over the weekend
Fah! Did go over my cals by 200÷300 but only to fuel loads of exercise 😪

Goinghome25 · 06/05/2025 19:01

Ps hope the sore throat goes and going up to 8.25mg helps. I may do the same this Thursday now.

MerryChristmasYaFilthyAnimals · 06/05/2025 20:26

Hey hey! Found you all.

So after my stall, I've been dropping again now. I'm still on 3.75 and the suppression is mad.

I'm now 12s 4.8lbs. That is mental. That's 32lb weight loss.
My issue is my clothes are now looking awful. My work trousers are an 18 and hanging off me, not even I can hide it anymore. I need to go shopping.
I also tried on a top that's forever been too small and it fits (and is a bit loose!). It's blowing my mind.

@OrangeDonald I'd also wondered about that, regarding how many other threads were around for other months, but yes that makes loads of sense. People thought I was mad starting dieting the week before Xmas. But it was absolutely the right time for me.

@Lindy0070 I'm slow and steady too and had weeks and week were I held the same weight, you're already 22lb down so that's amazing.

TrinityWaves · 07/05/2025 09:54

First WoW day (weigh on Wednesday) on the new thread :-)

Loss this week: -3.6
SW: 263.4 (BMI43.3)
CW: 200.2 (BMI32.9)
TL: 63.2
TW: <200 lb, 13 st (BMI30), 12 st (BMI27.7), 11 st (BMI25.3)

Current dose: 10mg (stops the constant cravings and hunger even when I had just eaten - this was life before MJ but equally not really strong suppression but a good balance that keeps me on the diet with a sprinkle of will power)
Bad side effects: none at 2.5, mild constipation started at 5, got worse at 7.5 although it is now better than before but still present.

Fedupdoc · 04/05/2025 00:45

I’ve been stagnant for a few weeks now. I lost 18kg and feel so much better but have another 10 to go and nothing budging. I’m on 10mg. I must admit to having lost motivation a lot and old habits have crept in despite the mounjaro. I haven’t gained just not lost.

however I have awful gas. Trapped wind most of the time which is horrible. So I really don’t think I can increase. If anything I wonder if I should reduce to 7.5? Has anyone else experienced this? It’s weird because I have been on 10 for quite a long time but the gas has only been the last couple of weeks

I am exactly the same - up and down like a yo yo but no real scale progress, BUT i am feeling much fitter and feel like my clothes are getting better fitting!

I found charcoal tablets amazing for trapped wind!

OrangeDonald · 07/05/2025 11:21

@TrinityWaves that's a phenomenal loss, congratulations!

JunoRoma · 07/05/2025 16:53

@TrinityWaves you are making great progress!

As well as the weight loss, one of my personal targets is to get my waist below 100cm / 40". My waist size has stayed pretty much the same for the last couple of months, despite steadily losing weight.
Today I felt like maybe my work trousers were a smidgen looser, but it might just have been wishful thinking.

Goinghome25 · 08/05/2025 09:44

Okay no loss this week and maybe even small gain so time to go up to 10mg I think.

Ive have just injected the full 7.5mg dose this morning and have no more clicks left. I still have "bonus dose" in pen. How much would I draw out using a syringe to top up to 8.25mg or 10mg?

I think will take the plunge and try either 8.25mg or 10mg this week before I start my new 10mg pen next week.

NotMeNoNo · 08/05/2025 09:59

Anybody an expert on Thai food?

I'm going out for a meal at Zaap Thai at lunchtime. The last couple of times I've eaten a rich meal out, I have been really nauseous later. Is anyone familiar with Thai food that could suggest something off the menu that's not too heavy or fatty? https://zaapthai.co.uk/food/

I'm on 7.5mg at the moment and just about managing day to day so I don't want to upset it all!

JunoRoma · 08/05/2025 11:35

@Goinghome25 according to my calculations, from a 7.5mg pen:
0.6ml contains 7.5mg
0.7ml contains 8.75mg
0.8ml contains 10mg

JunoRoma · 08/05/2025 11:39

I realise you had asked about 8.25mg, but in order to get 8.25mg from a 7.5mg pen you'd need to measure 0.66ml, and 1ml insulin syringes aren't designed or calibrated for that degree of accuracy.
