Mounjaro DECEMBER Starters Thread 3

Just starting up a new thread!

OP posts:
JunoRoma · 05/08/2025 16:49

The maintenance consultation was very straightforward. We agreed that I'll stay on 5mg for the time being.

When I started Mounjaro, I began logging my food on MyFitnessPal, partly to make sure I was getting enough protein and fibre and also to make me more aware of portion sizes and sugar intake. The weight loss went really well, and I wasn't sure whether part of that success was due to the food logging, so I continued doing it. Until a couple of weeks ago I was logging everything I ate on most days.

I'd rather not have to log everything I eat for the rest of my life. So I want to find out if I'm capable of eating without the aid of food logging and not gain weight, ideally with the dietary habits I've worked on over the past eight months (high protein, high fibre, minimal added sugar, plenty of fruit and veg). I realise that it's normal for weight to fluctuate a bit, so I've set myself an upper threshold of 75 kg - if I reach that then it's back to daily logging on MyFitnessPal.

Goinghome25 · 05/08/2025 20:09

Glad to hear it went well and you can stay on 5mg indefinately.

I have found that when I do not log I can lose track and think I am eating less than I am. Like you though I dont want to have to track forever!

Think the weekly weigh in will have to stay as iin the past when I stopped that the weight crept back on...

Maybr even when we are all at target we could stay on this thread posting our weigh ins... keep each other on track!

LC4life · 06/08/2025 06:55

I'm glad all went well with the consultation too @JunoRoma ! Definitely would love everyone to stay on this thread even if you're maintaining 💜

TrinityWaves · 06/08/2025 08:01

I've been on holiday (the holiday part was great!) but being unable to properly track cals was hard (as we ate out so much, so massive amounts of guess work and also having 3 meals a day. I mostly ordered off the kids menu lol!)
I'm actually down -0.6lb vs last Tuesday somehow though!
SW: 263.4 lb
CW: 176.6 lb
TL: 86.8 lb
TW: 11st

TrinityWaves · 06/08/2025 08:05

@LC4life - yes you can't measure it at all so I measured out one entire pen and got exactly 3.2 ml in there, so I know the max dose I get with these hacks. The removing just the dose knob is definitely easier but having a 3d printer is cool. If you do open the pen in the middle it's very hard and you might get a shard of plastic flying if it snaps suddenly. I do understand most people would read this and think just buy the darn syringes Trinity 😂

Goinghome25 · 07/08/2025 12:13

@TrinityWaves that is a cool use for a 3d printer! yep, I am in the "just buy the darn syringes" camp! I find them easier than using the pen

Wk35d6: I am a day early but we are away this weekend.

Sw 13.7
Cw 10.8
Gw 10.0

Another 1lb off this week. Woohoo! that stall lasted a looooong time, but, now I am slowly moving forward to goal again. Fingers crossed for another 1lb off next week to give me my 3 stone total loss.

Had maintenance consultation this morning, agreed to stay on same dose until I hit target then the plan is to taper down doses slowly.

TrinityWaves · 07/08/2025 19:07

@Goinghome25 I find the syringes really fiddly, even pumping in some air first to the MJ pen and then drawing it out. The methods I shared do look super complicated but the 'allen key' method takes me less than a minute but I don't think anyone else is with me 🤣

Well done on the 1 lb - you are edging closer and closer to your goal!!

JunoRoma · 07/08/2025 19:48

@Goinghome25 wow, you are so close to goal!

CountryVic · 08/08/2025 08:45

I’ve missed a dose, I had enough golden dose for .4 not my usual .6 of the 5ml. I should have taken it last Friday, got a new one and ready to take, I just hate the fatigue part, ruins my weekend 🙁 Is anyone struggling with the cost? I hate paying it, but know it’s needed to help with inflammation.

Other than that, still going well, love reading all the posts.

Slimwannabe · 11/08/2025 22:46

Been a while as had a run of birthdays (including mine) so didn't weigh for a couple of weeks to give things time to even back out. Not lost a lot, but lost a little, and back on plan now.

SW: 273lbs
CW: 215lbs

Really feel in the slow, slog place at the moment, sometimes it feels like these little losses take an eternity to add up! Getting there bit by bit though. I'm resigned to the fact that I'm probably not even halfway through this journey, but looking forward to seeing how you all go with maintenance and - eventually - joining you!

Hope you had a great birthday Slimwannabe. 🙂

Good news that you lost a little and are back on plan. What dose are you on now?

It has just taken me 16 weeks to lose 6lbs!

ShrankLastWinter · 12/08/2025 06:42

Belated happy birthday, @Slimwannabe! Hope you had a nice time.

You’ve lost a lot of weight! I realize it’s still a way to where you want to be, but you’ve already achieved important health improvements and are keeping it going!

JunoRoma · 12/08/2025 07:12

SW 107 kg
CW 70.5 kg

Loss this week: 1 kg

Total loss so far: 36.5 kg (80 lb) which is over a third of my starting weight!

My waist measurement has finally reduced a bit too, which makes me very happy.

CatRash · 12/08/2025 08:11

Holiday over and no weight gained or lost which I'm taking as a win. I'm exactly 10st today.... looking forward to finally seeing a 9st on the scales.... hopefully this week 🤞

@Slimwannabe Happy belated birthday!
I hear you! The last stone has taken me 4 months to lose!!!!

CatRash · 12/08/2025 08:12

Well done @JunoRoma ...a third of your starting weight is crazy! Well done!

I'm still on 7.5mg as seems to work well for me - reasonable suppression (although less so by the weekend) and no side effects. I've got roughly another 8 week's worth of 7.5, so plenty of time to think about whether it's worth moving up to 10mg.

16 weeks for 6lb?! 😱 I know every loss is a loss, going in the right direction etc etc, but the slow is so painful! Just once in a while a 3lb or 4lb loss in a week or two would be delightful! 🤣

Thanks, I needed to hear that! I've already lost more than I thought would be possible - I need to remember that!

Goinghome25 · 12/08/2025 11:13

I read something recently that really helped me with my stall/very slow losses.

It was about visceral fat.

" Visceral Fat
Visceral fat is belly fat found deep within your abdominal cavity. It surrounds important organs, including your stomach, liver and intestines. It’s different than subcutaneous fat, which is fat just below your skin. Visceral fat is actually more dangerous to your health. Diet and exercise are the best ways to prevent the buildup of visceral fat."

So we are losing this as well as the visible fat. Maybe we wont see the loss of this on the scales or measuring tape but losing it is giving us a massively increased chance of a healthy future.

So when the scales arent moving I try to remember this.

Goinghome25 · 12/08/2025 11:18

Well done on your loss @JunoRoma 80lbs off is amazing!!!!

Also @TrinityWaves if my maths is correct youre heading towards 90lbs off!!! Thats incredible!

OrangeDonald · 12/08/2025 12:53

Lots of you seem to be in a bit of a stall, which makes me feel better about my pesky last 5kg which are stubbornly refusing to come off. Some weeks I'll lose 1lb, the next ive gained it back again.

Im so close to goal weight, my BMI is down to 27 but i just can't shift the final 10lbs. I've decided not to stress about it, and once the dc go back to school in September i can dedicate more time to the gym and hopefully kick start the scales going down again. By Christmas I'll be at goal if my current micro mini losses continue.

My wins for today are that I am wearing a new dress (well, its vinted, but new for me). And its a size 12, and it fits beautifully. As i was walking through town i saw my reflection in shop windows and my legs looked awesome. And even though its hot my legs aren't chafing and sore. And my biggest win is that my teenage dd glanced at me when she finally rolled out of bed half an hour ago, and told me i looked nice.

shrinkingfi · 12/08/2025 19:39

Hmmmppphhh. Just fell out with VOY over their messing up my prescription and extended mess ups. Long story but their AI isn’t offering the standard the premium price commands. So looking for ideas of a replacement supplier who will take me on with a bmi of 32 and a decent plan for maintenance which might involve continuing on a low dose for maintenance if necessary. Can anyone make any suggestions? Feel quite panicky without my next dose in hand!

JunoRoma · 12/08/2025 20:20

That's a good point about the visceral fat @Goinghome25

@OrangeDonald a size 12 dress is definitely something to celebrate.

Apart from underwear, I haven't bought anything new since I started this process; at each decrease in size I've replenished my wardrobe from Vinted / eBay. If I reach the point where I feel confident that I can keep my weight stable, I might invest in some new clothes.

I use Juniper, which I think is similar to Voy in terms of provision of coaching support. It is a high price point though, but I really appreciate my lovely, supportive health coach (and her motivational voice messages) and they have back-up AI for out of hours support. They have a referral scheme and a FB community as well, if that's something that you like in a provider. I've been with them since the beginning and never had an issue, and it's pretty easy to initiate a prescription review to stick at a dose or move up, or adjust the delivery of your next pen.
