Protein drinks work well for me. I've been using The protein Works diet meal replacement shakes once a day anyway for a couple of years because the fibre helps keep me regular(!) and theyre high protein-low sugar. But since I've been having some nausea this week after upping my dose to 3.75mg, they've been very good for getting some nutrients and protein into me without making me feel sick.

I just bought from here. What do you mix the powder with? Milk?

I use protein works powder too. You can mix it with water but I think it tastes awful with water! So I use it for a smoothie (but you can just mix it with milk). Ingredients vary for smoothie, but always a base of milk (usually oat, but sometimes normal cows milk if I’m out of oat), some porridge oats, flaxseed, fruit and protein powder. If I have a banana one I usually have a spoonful of nut butter in it. Sometimes also my collagen powder, if I haven’t already had it in a coffee.

Pandimoanymum · 28/04/2025 16:57

@Minuethippo No, I mix with water and sometimes I add some frozen fruit (I buy the ready frozen bags of fruit) or a banana. You can do milk, though but i find water fine.

Hmm, I wonder if I’d find it more palatable with water if I added some frozen fruit 🤔 there are times when I could do without the extra calories of the milk!

Oh good! I’m lactose intolerant and hate milk substitutes so water it is
thanks for the recommendation

Pandimoanymum · 28/04/2025 17:06

@fox919 I've never tried it with milk tbh, I've just always done water as lowest calorie option. And I use the vegan ones because I like the slightly oatier texture. I'm sure milk probably does taste nicer, I think I'm unusual in that I actually like them fine with just water!
I just buy bags of frozen fruit mixes, I think sainsbury's call them 'smoothie mix', and chuck in about 80g (1 portion) then blend. I haven't done that since I've been on mounjaro as I usually only did it to make them more filling, but find I don't need to now.

chainsinnalice · 28/04/2025 18:01

@Incognitoburrito88 - thank you for your reply x

fox919 · 28/04/2025 18:07

@Pandimoanymumi did try it with water once because I was trying to keep it as low as possible in calories, but yeah I just really didn’t like it. Maybe I would’ve felt different if I’d tried it with water before milk!

I’ve got a vegan one and a whey one that I got recently. I was dairy free while breastfeeding for about a year so used the vegan ones then and I think having tried the whey one now I also prefer the vegan one 😊 but yeah, I’ll definitely try it with water and some frozen fruit. I tend to use it as a meal anyway so making sure it’s a bit more filling works 👍

saxonyv · 28/04/2025 18:15

I do half water half milk for a protein shake, less cals but I also can’t always stomach the milk so the watered down version sits better

ZigZagJigsaw · 28/04/2025 18:38

Could someone explain the golden dose to me please?

fox919 · 28/04/2025 19:19

W3d4 and I’ve struggled a bit today (shame after yesterday positivity!). I’ve made mostly good food choices, but just had more food noise and more food overall. Possibly because yesterday I had a fairly low calorie intake and my body’s trying to make up for it? I’m still
within my calories, but late afternoon and evening are the times I generally eat the most so not certain I won’t go over.. may have to have an early night and hope tomorrow’s better, otherwise I think I’ll be tempted to dose early and I’d prefer not to do that.

Each pen gives 4 doses of the prescribed amount (2.5, 5, 7.5 etc) but there’s extra leftover after those 4 doses that can be extracted and taken as a 5th dose. Is there a specific question about it that you have? Or are you just looking for a general understanding of what it is?

Checking in!
I'm down 10lbs now after 3 weeks, had jab 4 on Fri night!
Week 1 I was really ill, week 2 jabbed thigh and was fine. Last week went back to tummy and I had diarrhea for a good 24 hours (bank holiday so didn't impact work!). Went back to thigh this week but had the same reaction, I actually took some diarrhea relief tablets as I'm a teacher and was worried about needing to go when I couldn't leave a class!
I've decided to move the day a day earlier as it seems to be Sunday into Monday so hopefully it'll only affect weekends. Anyone else have a week of no symptoms then they return? I genuinely thought it was due to the location of the jab but this week has thrown that idea out the window!

Newmum110 · 28/04/2025 20:32

I'm going to take 5mg from my 2.5 pen this week, just want to double check I'm correct. Doing my jab as normal then taking 6ml of my golden dose. That makes 5mg is that correct?? Don't want to OD!!!!

Foreheadthing · 28/04/2025 21:09

Hello! Newbie here, hope it's ok to join?
I have not ordered yet but I have just done the eligibility today, and was surprised to see it's gone through when I wasn't really expecting it to (BMI 28, but PCOS).
I struggle so much with my sweet tooth and life is so hard at the moment, young kids busy job, and lots of comfort eating.
I've been wanting to try mounjaro, as my sweet tooth and lack of consistency (I also have ADHD which makes it harder to not just impulsively give in) but now it seems like an actual option, I'm terrified!
Should I just give it a go for a month and see how I feel?
Will it curb my cravings and sweet tooth?

I'm worried about coping with my rather active and stressful job and kids if I get side effects. Hopefully this is a good place for some advice and reassurance as I'm just on the very edge of ordering it tonight!

Thanks for any help in advance :-)

0.6 ml not 6!! You won’t get 6ml out anyway. But yes if you take your normal jab then 0.6 ml from the pen that will make 5 mg! Good luck :)

I would got for it. I have four kids aged 3 - 15 and a busy job. I took my 4th jab on Friday and am down 10 lbs (started at BMI30) I have felt a little bit tired over the last couple of weeks but not sure if that’s just life and the bad cold I’ve had. I’ve still been able to manage home and work and a bit of exercise so it’s been manageable. Had some very mild nausea the first couple of weeks and been a wee bit constipated.

I am a massive emotional and boredom eater. My meals are healthy but my snacking was out of control. MJ has almost completely eradicated the urge to snack. Every time I’ve dieted in the past I’ve constantly been thinking about when I can break my diet - when I can have a ‘day off’ or when I can have a treat. That’s totally gone. I haven’t counted calories at all and although I have worried about food and it not working I haven’t really felt hungry at all.

You can try one pen and see what happens. There’s no obligation to continue if you don’t like the effects or it isn’t working for you.

Thanks a million @incognitoburrito88 I meant to type .6 I think 6ml may push me over the edge alright!!!!!

Thank you so much. I'm going to just order and give it a try! I can relate to what you say about my meals being healthy, but snacking and emotional eating are ruining me. Good to know it's helped on that front! I don't do well with nausea so hoping it's not too bad...

KitKat791 · 28/04/2025 22:59

Hi everyone can I join? I’m Week 2 Day1. Lost 5lbs in the first week which I’m delighted with. I had a baby 5 months ago and really desperate to lose the baby weight (and pre baby weight!)
So far managing the side effects okay. I feel I still have the urge to snack out of habit even though I don’t feel hungry but really hoping that goes away soon.

KitKat791 · 28/04/2025 23:04

Ps is anyone else really cold??

Yes, really a lot. I seem to remember having that in the past though, whenever I lost weight (before WLI) 🤔

Day 1 of the 5mg was fine - no side effects or anything unpleasant. Ate just under 800 calories too, because I just wasn't hungry 🤷‍♀️ So far so good.

Week 5 for me and down a total of 12lbs. Slow and steady.
