So we were away this weekend with friends who were taking us out for a meal. They both immediately noticed how much weight I’d lost, and said how good I looked which was lovely of them.
I did really limit the drinking, because I’m just not feeling the love for it, rather than because I was trying to be good. So I had wine and soda, then later in the evening I just asked for soda and kept topping my wine glass up. My friend got very drunk so I don’t think she noticed!
we had a shared starter which was great because I could just pick at it. Then for main I had a Caesar salad because I was already full 😬. Fortunately everyone’s meal portions were HUGE (ridiculous really) so none of us ate it all. Plus everyone else had eaten crisps and snacks in the house beforehand, plus a garlic bread and nachos starter. Makes you realise how much normal people (as in not taking Mounjaro) can actually put away! 😵‍💫😂
The next day we went for a long walk and she went on and on about how much weight I’d lost (in a nice way) and I couldn’t tell her the truth! In fact, people are definitely noticing now, you can see them looking a bit more closely. That article that someone kindly shared has made me even more determined to keep my Mounjaro journey to myself!
I had my adult sons home on Friday and even THEY noticed my weight loss. I’ve just started running again (very tentatively) so they put it down to that. The pen was safely tucked in the salad drawer in the fridge! Where they would never dream of looking 😂
Gosh this has ended up being a longer update than I planned. Have a great week everyone 🥰

What did someone post about not telling people? I must have missed it. There are very few people who I have told, my husband of course and my daughter who is now in week 1 on wegovy . And a close friend. At the moment I don’t want to tell anyone else. I’m just wondering what the post you refer to said!

3 pound lost this week!
sw 16.1
cw 14.13

i only started to feel well on Friday evening. Due to take next jab now. No idea what to do as have an hour to decide before work. I can either take 2.5 from the 5mg which I was ok on previously. Risk the 3.75 again (but don’t really want to try that this week). Or I can leave it until I’ve worked away Thursday and take a later dose Thursday night when I get back. I am toying with the 2.5 idea but I don’t want to spend 3 days in bed again this week as can’t risk it financially - what would others do? Husband thinks risk the 2.5 as I was ok on that for first four weeks. X

I have stayed in 2.5 (my second month), so I would agree with your husband

I checked back through my log and despite having nasty side effects on w1 of 3.75mg I didn't have any side effects on w2 at 3.75mg

I stayed on 3.75 for 5 weeks before moving to 5mg. I didn't get any side effects when I went up to 5mg. I only went up because I forgot to count when prepping the pen so went screw it and went up to the full dose. I panicked that I'd get an upset stomach like with the first 3.75mg but it was ok

I've always found my strongest symptoms and side effects were 3 or 4 days after the dose. Eg Thursday night jab resulted in Monday/tuesday. My only upset tums were on 2.5 and wk1 3.75, after that it was pretty smooth apart from some constipation

Apologies if this has already been posted but did anyone see the article in the Guardian today about secret jabbers?

Having a down day today with my weight loss journey

i took a picture to compare to my starting picture and while it is clear the shape is changing, it still doesn’t seem that dramatic.

Bit disappointed as I was feeling like I had huge movements as my clothes were getting looser etc.

think it’s silly as I know I have made big gains but sad it’s not showing dramatically on photos

Squiffy01 · 12/05/2025 12:45

@MissCreative it was an article about lots of people on weight loss jabs keeping it a secret.
One persons husband thought she was really ill cause she had lost so much weight.
Another had who is now on it and not told her husband had previously flown to turkey for surgery (telling her husband she had work in London).

I understand for me it does feel like a bit of a dirty secret and that I’m cheating. But my husband knows as does 1 close friend. As does my family back home but I don’t count them in the telling of people as my two sisters are also on it so knew they wouldn’t judge.

I understand. My friend told me about it - she said she wanted to tell me because I am not a judgemental person. how can anyone judge us for wanting to be more healthy and not use nhs resources? For me, there were other factors about it which helped me decide. Mounjaro and wegovy reduce inflammation which is said to be very helpful for joint pain. my knees are quite bad - and a lot less pain in the 6 weeks I’ve been on mj.
also reducing inflammation I believe will help reduce my headaches as migraine is caused by swelling around the brain. I believe I am/was on the verge of diabetes given the last eye test I had. It is also good for memory and therefore helping dementia. Also, helps with addiction. I believe there is research going on in all of these areas. Nevertheless, I am still keeping quiet!!!!

Try not to be too down, it seems to take a while to really show. Each clothe size change takes a different amount of lbs but they get much closer together as you get smaller.

If you e not already taken measurements then do, as these can show a change even if you're not seeing it in the mirror. Plus our brains struggle to process our size changes easily.

My husband held up some trousers to show me on Saturday, I laughed and said no way those are for a Barbie. But I put them on and they were actually a bit roomy.

I've measured waist, hips, under boobs, boobs, thigh and arm
All now show significant changes

Good luck and keep your chin up 😊

Thank you guys for the advice and sharing experiences - really helpful :) hope everyone’s day is going reasonably! X

So far so good after my 5mg jab on Thursday. No side effects and hunger suppression is a bit higher which is good as I felt the last week on 2.5mg I was starting to think more about food / snacking.

Had a weekend away with friends and was nervous with all the food and drink, but was fine. We just had 'party' food so I was able to pick without it being obvious that I was eating a lot less than normal. Managed some alcoholic drinks, but I feel like they just sit in my stomach now and make me feel full to burst!

Anyone else feel like this with booze? I wonder if there are any particular drinks I could have that wouldn't make me feel so meh! I have really gone off it, but I have a few events coming up so even just to have a couple of sociables 😂

On the plus side, my weight loss stall seems to have kick started again, and have lost 3lb this week 🤩 maybe the glass of wine helped 😂😂

I agree about the anti inflammatory properties. I've had a strained knee ligament for over 2 years (squats and lunges at the gym 😂) and have had steroid injections and physio. MJ is the 1st thing to take away the pain and I can now go for walks again. .. When I told the GP he agreed this can help.

Strangely enough - about half an hour after I replied to you, there was a report in the news saying something about positive effects in cancer!!! I can’t remember exactly but it said there is further research being done! I’m so pleased about the effect it is having on your knee!!

MissCreative · 12/05/2025 16:56

Squiffy01 · 12/05/2025 17:59

@QS90 i can’t read that. What is the general gist?

NotsosunnyShropshire · 12/05/2025 17:59

I’ve done similar. Bought some jeans in the next size down in readiness. Tried them on and they’re already a little loose. I’ll order another size Down on vinted or ebay.

eta: sorry, was replying to @HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow

Research shows that WLI reduce the risk of cancer!

Fairly obviously, obesity-related cancers, but not just those. The anti-inflammatory effects are protective against cancers, in their own right. There is more research planned on the back of it!

MsJJones · 12/05/2025 19:11

Like others I’ve done 3.75 from my 5mg pen this week. After the SE I got in the first week of 2.5, I couldn’t risk it.

Had a very unsettled tummy yesterday and felt like diarrhoea was coming but it was mostly just wind! I took some Rennies and had peppermint tea and today I’ve been fine. I haven’t had anything like the SE I had in the first week which were truly awful. However I haven’t lost much since then either so I guess I am going to have to make more of an eating plan.

I am planning to take 3.75 again next week and then move up to 5mg as it’s half term so I can manage any side effects more easily. I am definitely going to try and get the golden dose from this pen though as there should be plenty left. Am I correct that I need two sets of syringes to extract and then inject?

Potato1234 · 12/05/2025 20:17

Ughhh. Today has not been good. I’ve eaten lots of different food but in small amounts. Then vommed it all back up a few hours ago. I can confirm that MJ definitely causes delayed gastric emptying.. as I saw the strawberries I had this morning. Now it’s coming out the other end. It is the third day of this jab so I’m sure I’ve read somewhere this is where it peaks in your blood?

Uninvitedleaf · 12/05/2025 20:19

@MsJJonesi just used the same needle to draw out the extra and then to inject. It was fine.

I’d already bought them before I saw some helpful suggestions on here about how to use two so thought I might as well give it a go with what I had!

Squiffy01 · 12/05/2025 20:33

Oh wow @Potato1234 sorry you are unwell I hope it passes soon!

@QS90 that is really interesting. One of the reasons I’m on MJ is to be a healthy weight to try and lower my risk of cancer returning as didn’t like the idea of two marks against me being obese obviously bigger risk and having already had it. So I’m excited for more research to happen on it and hope it is positive!

wordywitch · 12/05/2025 21:22

I’m W6D6 and am still experiencing pretty significant appetite suppression. Only side effect has been constipation which was becoming a bit of a problem but some Senna tablets and a fibre drink this morning helped a little. I’m not sure if it’s down to my body getting used to the 5mg dose or because I’m not eating enough. Drinking loads of water and having protein and fibre where I can but it’s a struggle with having such little appetite.

Ofcoursehesthefkingfarmer · 12/05/2025 21:35

@vl888 ive been the same with booze, it’s just filling me up which is a new concept but tbf so is the water!

I am a wine drinker but can no longer touch rose because of the acid it gives me since being on MJ. I had some gins this weekend but it felt forced and meh if my body is telling me I’d rather not drink booze then I’m trying to listen to it.

It’s been my favourite part of this journey tbh. I’m a real social drinker and I’m massively affected by the weather so ordinarily I’d have been out in the sun drinking.

My mind is so quiet which is something I’ve always wanted. No niggling voice trying to organise cheeky socials and thoughts of food and drink whizzing around my head. I’m sleeping so much better and I feel like I’ve got more time mentally to put into the kids and my work.
