I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

OMG the approval photos! I was gutted I couldn’t blur my face for shame.

I wore awful old pyjamas as they are the only light coloured fitted things I have, and was concentrating so much to try and get my whole self in the picture .

I looked ludicrous and deeply cross.

i kept thinking I hope this isn’t an elaborate internet scam to blackmail me for untold riches just to get this picture back 💀

Is anyone planning to do the 5th dose thing I keep hearing about? The "golden dose"?

I’m not, I’m a pharmacist so would always advise against using medication in this way. I do understand why people do this though

ymemanresu · 22/04/2025 20:14

Hi all, i had a bad night last night. Took first dose Sunday at 3pm, went out and had way too much to drink fgs. So annoyed with myself. I think 2.5 may be a bit too strong or my body went into shock as couldn’t
eat a thing Sunday or Monday but had to force myself.

Im hoping it was mainly alcohol related but barely slept last night, heart was racing and felt a bad panic attack coming on. ( i suffer anxiety anyway)

So, lesson learned, i wont be doing that again. I don’t recommend drinking on this. Empty calories anyway. Feeling fine now and been able to eat more but still good suppression.

ymemanresu · 22/04/2025 20:16

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 17:54

Apparently, after you do the 4th dose, there is still enough solution left in the pen for a further dose. Some people can get it out with the pen, others use insulin needles. It's often slightly more than the 0.6ml dose of 2.5mg, so a stepping stone as such before you go up to 5mg.

I will be trying it!

Me too, there is a lot of information on previous threads about how to do it.

ymemanresu · 22/04/2025 20:17

Scousebloke · 22/04/2025 18:26

Pops into room. Looks round nervously. Then asks are men allowed in here ?
No problem if im not welcome, i get it. Women need and deserve women only spaces so if any tells me to do one i will go.
On the other hand, if its not a problem, i took my first jab on Saturday night. 6ft Bloke, 18 stone 6lb. Type 2 diabetes after being pre diabetes for a decade. Chose Mounjaro instead of the Metformin offered by my gp.
Big suppression so far, mild side effects.

Welcome

Thought I'd post to encourage anyone still thinking about starting as I'm just a bit ahead of you all.

I will be taking my 4th dose of 2.5mg on Friday. It's working brilliantly for me so far. The injections are painless, I've had zero side effects, the suppression kicked in almost instantly, I don't think about food all the time and best of all I've lost a stone already. In less than three weeks!

This is the best thing I've ever done, tbh. I'm going to order another 2.5mg pen this week rather than going up to 5mg as the suppression is so good for me and I'd like to keep the dose as low as possible. Sometimes I actually have to make myself eat as I'm just not hungry.

Honestly, if you're hesitating give this a go. It's working like a miracle for me. I'm on holiday at the moment and today went from breakfast at 9am to dinner at 6pm without any hunger pangs, or any desire to eat. Just had a coffee at lunchtime. This is unheard of for me, I'm a greedy thing usually. My husband thinks I've been kidnapped and replaced with an imposter Grin
Best of luck to all of you just starting your journey.

Blossombeanie · 22/04/2025 20:20

I’d like to order this soon. Has anyone got a discount code?

I’ve tried absolutely everything and been sick with asthma for 6 weeks and I’ve just had enough of feeling unhealthy

ymemanresu · 22/04/2025 20:24

Scousebloke · 22/04/2025 19:31

Serenelysmiling/chunkysewist - im astounded at the suppression. Today, at about 1pm i started thinking im a bit peckish now, i will eat soon. Im a taxi driver and usually need to stop and eat within an hour of that initial thought. Finished work at 5 without having stopped to eat and felt no more hungry than i did at 1. Normally id think of nothing but food but i had just forgotten about it.

Edited

That’s great, mine worked really quickly.

So nice to see so many people joining and sharing their stories.

i had my first Jab this afternoon. I hadn’t eaten anything, just loads of coffee (stupid busy job) so was feeling pretty floppy with hunger by 6pm. Ive just eaten some chicken and roast veg. I’m worried it’s going to sit in my stomach like a stone, but maybe it’s too soon for it to have kicked in yet? I didn’t eat much and I do feel quite full 😳

I wondered if anyone here is a smoker/vaper, and is secretly hoping to develop superhuman willpower against that addiction alongside losing food noises?

Im a vaper, it definitely has put me off quite a lot. Dirty habit i’m desperate to stop.

Wow a stone in 3 weeks, that’s amazing, what was your starting weight?

That's interesting Cosmic. What are your concerns as a pharmacist?

My thinking was, the medicine will still be within the 30 days that it needs to be used by, so no different to injecting the other doses.

I didn't need to send photos, thankfully, but took some 'before' ones just for me in front of the mirror which were pretty depressing. I also took measurements and my stomach and bust are the same size. I used to have a 24 inch waist back before I had the DC, sigh...

I’ve got a £40 off code.

I got an email saying £40 for a friend and £40 off my next order if they use the code.

im happy to share 🙂

I used med express. I’ve just started my first dose today so not much of a reference to go on yet , but the postage was quick and conjugation was good . I paid about £130 for my first pen (no code). So I expect you might get the first one for £90 if you use a code?

I really understand that feeling you describe … I’ve hit the deck with my health and just feel so fed up of feeling tired and heavy and achey!

Oh cool that would be great thanks.

yes- heavy and achey sounds right.

I lost about 13kg last year through IF then put it all back on when I stopped fasting. I can’t find the will power to fast anymore- I’m desperate

@Blossombeaniei ordered my first dose from Numan and they gave me a £100 off code to share. Full disclosure, I also get the recommend a friend discount of £100 off my next pen as well. I can give you a link if you want it x

SerenelySmiling · 22/04/2025 20:52

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:23

@SerenelySmiling could you have some nuts? They pack protein and calories without being too filling?
I can't imagine having no appetite, did it start quickly after your first jab?

@chunkysewistnuts are a good idea, thanks! Just like @Scouseblokethis is really unlike me to to have no appetite. It's weird. Good, but weird!

Thanks that’d be great if you could- I’ve been offered a 40 pounds discount code from another lovely poster too so will have a look at numan as well to see how they compare.

Hope mine is as pain free tomorrow 🫣❤️

It will be..... the needles are tiny! (I tried wegovy for a month but the side effects were pretty bad)
It's the thought of injecting yourself that makes it worse. You'll wonder what you were worried about once you've done the first one 😀

CosmicRed · 22/04/2025 21:10

@YippeeAbsentmindedly purely from a meds safety perspective. While I’m sure it can be done safely there are risks involved - I’ve seen comments on here where people have been buying needles from Amazon (not medical grade) and there’s the potential to muddle up mls and mg. I’m sure some people understand exactly what they are doing and have no issues but I’m not confident everyone does so it would be irresponsible of me to suggest/recommend it.

I’m very nervous about injecting - I’m super squeamish.

CosmicRed · 22/04/2025 21:15

@MsRicoletti I think you are only allowed to share codes on the sharing codes (forgot its name) board, not here I believe

I felt this way too. I had tears in my eyes and was properly psyching myself up… like 1..2..3 …nope! ok 1…2..3….

I can honestly say I didn’t feel anything other than the end of the pen pushing into my squishy little bit of tummy I chose.

No sharp scratch. Just slid in and I didn’t feel it 🤷🏻‍♀️

Ooos sorry everyone. I’m brand new to MN. I didn’t know. I will delete that post with the code in. Then try and work out how to direct message people 🤣🤣🤣
thanks for letting me know xx
