I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Erm… I can’t seem to delete it 🫠

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 21:24

Cosmic the needle is absolutely tiny (you probably understand guage size better than me). I usually feel sick even thinking about injections but I just took a deep breath and didn't look too closely. I read the instructions and then was dreading it because you have to hold it in for 5 seconds, but I genuinely couldn't feel it. If someone else had done it for me, I'd be asking if it was in yet 😉

Thank you for your replies about the 5th dose. I was planning to use medical grade syringes, absolutely not off Amazon!! My understanding is that the solution that is supplied has a concentration of 2.5mg and that each time we inject approx 0.6ml of solution. When we move up to 5mg, we are still only injecting 0.6ml of solution. I work with nurses and paramedics, quite a few of whom are taking WLI, so I plan to talk to them about it as well, but appreciate where you're coming from!

Ooos sorry everyone. I’m brand new to MN. I didn’t know. I will delete that post with the code in. Then try and work out how to direct message people 🤣🤣🤣
thanks for letting me know xx

Got it thanks ;)

I’d like to order this soon. Has anyone got a discount code?

I’ve tried absolutely everything and been sick with asthma for 6 weeks and I’ve just had enough of feeling unhealthy

Hi, you are probably already sorted by now, but I went with ZAVA and am very impressed so far. They are the online pharmacy who also supply ASDA pharmacies so I felt safe going for a link with a well known name.
I have a code for 25% (£40) off, and in return I get 25% off too.
Happy to pm you (or anyone who would like to try ZAVA) the code.

Erm… I can’t seem to delete it 🫠

I've reported it for you, hopefully admin will see and remove it.

I'm not sure it's officially prohibited to share referral codes on chat threads, but it is against MN etiquette and therefore warrants the firing squad 😉

Plus, it's easier to find referral codes on a dedicated thread and more likely that different peoples's codes will be used as opposed to one person getting all the discounts.

yes I’m keen to keep to the expected behaviour (and avoid the firing squad ! ) x

OMG the approval photos! I was gutted I couldn’t blur my face for shame.

I wore awful old pyjamas as they are the only light coloured fitted things I have, and was concentrating so much to try and get my whole self in the picture .

I looked ludicrous and deeply cross.

i kept thinking I hope this isn’t an elaborate internet scam to blackmail me for untold riches just to get this picture back 💀

Lmao I had this exact same thought! Imagine someone keeping those photos and black mailing us 😱 😂
I need to do some measurements tomorrow. Hopefully they will then be something to look back on. I swear if I lose the weight this time I am NOT gaining it back. Done that far too many times now. I'm so heavy and my knees hate me. Hopefully tomorrow is the day I get to start. I will probably be here tomorrow for some moral support and hand holding for my first jab 😂

TheNinthLock · 22/04/2025 21:53

My photos were awful - it just so happened I was going swimming that morning, so took photos in my knee-length swimsuit.
Ye gods - I am so going to get blackmailed in the future. Awful. Skinny legs (never thought I had skinny legs, I thought i was fat all over), with a saggy arse and a rotund lumpy bumpy belly.

Actually, I don't think I have skinny legs - it is just my belly is so fat.....

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 22:01

I definitely do not have skinny legs 😂. MsRicoletti was saying up thread about getting back into her skinny jeans and I just thought, I've never been able to wear them. I have very defined calf muscles, I can't even get skinny jeans up to my knees 🤣🤣

Chunky we can set up a maintenance support thread when we get to that stage. Maintaining can be just as hard as losing it in the first place!

TheNinthLock · 22/04/2025 22:03

To be honest - I don't think I do either. It just looked like that as my belly was so round.
And my boobs - positively matronly!! Awful!

I can’t wait to experience this!
I often dont eat until later in the day , mainly though work and disorganisation… but then I crave really delicious and calorific things and tend to overindulge into the night…

I dream of eating a sensible dinner and not thinking about food again until the next day!

Its quite bizzare. I kind of knew today that i would avoid my usual downfalls. I usually eat about 4 slices of bread a day, ive had none since my first jab on Saturday night. I used to eat cakes a couple of times a week which ive managed to quit but i still sometimes feel tempted (and now and again cave), not even thought about it or biscuits or chocolate.
I had porridge for breakfast and a subway salad for tea. Had a small chicken breast later on as my wife insisted i needed to eat.

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 22:15

@TheNinthLock matronly boobs! 😂 That made me laugh!

I went to dig out my 'fat jeans' the other day only to discover they are now my skinny jeans 😭🤣 literally like a sausage in a skin, so tight! Mortified!

@YippeeAbsentmindedly definitely will need a maintenance thread when we get there, I know I'll need all the support I can get!

Scousebloke · 22/04/2025 22:17

ymemanresu · 22/04/2025 20:24

That’s great, mine worked really quickly.

Excellent

TheSilentSister · 22/04/2025 23:54

I joined another group on here but I think this one is more appropriate, as a beginner.
Ordered today and awaiting 'approval'.
Post menopause and pre-diabetic.
I honestly thought I'd never go down this route but am so fed up. I'm not enjoying life. I haven't got a great deal of weight to lose but given my age and health, I need to do it.
Interesting what some pp's said about drinking alcohol and vaping, which I do too much of. I remember years ago I took pills to stop smoking and it was weird how it worked, totally didn't fancy it. Hoping M works the same way.

Louie1968 · 23/04/2025 00:48

Hi. I’m looking to order at end of week, need to do this for health & self esteem. When you go upto 5mg do you pay full price or change company to get a discount code? Just wondering

catchingzzzeds · 23/04/2025 05:28

@Louie1968I plan on changing supplier with each pen if it means I can make a good saving, a bit of a faff but paying for this is a big stretch for me

SparklyGlitterballs · 23/04/2025 06:57

Hi, I'll join in too if that's ok. I've had my pen in the fridge for ages but wanted to get a health concern out of the way first. I took my first jab on Monday this week (21st). By the evening I was already noticing I didn't feel my usual hunger and on day two the food noise had diminished a lot.

I'm 5'7" and SW is 16st4oz. I wear size 18-20 as my weight is mostly on my waist, bottom and thighs. No particular figure in mind for TW, just want to lose the flab and reduce my dress size. Would be happy to be a 12-14. Hopefully less weight will also mean less joint pains.

My only hindrance is I'm on the list for a knee replacement, so my ability to exercise is low due to the pain I have, even when walking.

Good luck to all of you starting around now.

PeachSnail · 23/04/2025 07:27

Hi everyone 👋
First time Mumsnetter here. Very pleased to have found so much support and advice on here.
I decided to start MJ after my weight slowly crept up over the years (especially since perimenopause). I feel guilty about spending so much money on my weight loss, but as my partner pointed out, being overweight has had a shocking impact on my confidence and self esteem, making me miserable. Plus, I'm concerned about the potential of diabetes, joint pain and early onset Alzheimer's (which my mum died of).
I did my first jab yesterday morning and started feeling some effects within an hour or two. Nothing major - just some slight nausea. I had a normal sized dinner and then felt quite nauseous afterwards. So I guess it's better to adjust to smaller portion sizes to help prevent this?
I've also woken up with a bit of a headache - I think it's related to dehydration, so I'm going to try to keep sipping water regularly throughout the day. If you're eating less, you're also consuming less water so it stands to reason.

Anyway, good luck everyone! Here's to a healthier, happier future 💪

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 23/04/2025 07:29

Welcome everyone.

Louie it seems that you can change supplier once you have started, so if you can save a bit of money I'd say it's worth the faff!

Day 2 for me. I've woken up feeling groggy and queasy, a bit like early pregnancy. I can feel I'm hungry, but not so much I'm motivated to do anything about it.

Chunkysewist · 23/04/2025 07:34

Welcome everyone! Glad to have you here!
I'm stalking my delivery app this morning 😁 Although I had an awful dream last night and I'm trying not to convince myself that it's a sign I'm not meant to do this 😔 I think I need to stop reading comments on social media and just stick with this group as some people say such awful tbjngs.

MsRicoletti · 23/04/2025 07:43

I’ve woken up today with no hunger or desire for breakfast, which is astounding given I also woke up with my period.

so… my task today is… how much porridge can I force down to allow me to take the pain meds I’m gonna need to get though a work day with these cramps 😵

I got my period this morning too. I could only face some protein yoghurt.

Oh yoghurt is a good idea. I’ve got some nice thick Greek yoghurt. I’ll try and get a few spoons down. I can’t do a first day of period with no pain killers, not if I have to go to work and stand up and talk to people and be pleasant 😵‍💫

I was doing the stalking of the Royal Mail delivery guy on Sunday, put a note on the front door, window and left gate open so i couldn’t miss it. It’s exciting isn’t it. Everyone is different re side effects. I had a powerful reaction so might take a little less next time. Feeling fine now though
