I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Evening, I'm waiting for my order to be delivered on Wed and will inject Thursday.
I'm 5'9 and weigh 14st, goal is 11.7. Nervous but just want this last 2.5st off!

muser123 · 21/04/2025 22:39

Has anyone done the first dose on the back of a very indulgent weekend/day? Got mine delivered last Thursday but decided to have one last hurrah over the long Easter weekend with copious amounts of alcohol and takeaway + snacks and now I am worried if I inject tonight I might be sick. Other threads I've read have implied the side effects are easier if you start on an empty stomach or at least sensible food choices. Perhaps I should wait to inject tomorrow evening?

Oh I would probably wait a couple of days until it's out of your system, I'd be scared of being sick otherwise.

ratsmagic · 21/04/2025 22:53

I did although not on the same day - just waited till the afternoon the next day after drinking plenty of water then waited 2 hours after eating lunch. Was totally fine but I made sure i was feeling ok when I did the jab or would have held off till the next day

muser123 · 21/04/2025 22:54

@Caddycat Thanks! I think you're right, I just feel so excited and ready to start now! Guess I should have thought of that yesterdaySmile

muser123 · 21/04/2025 22:57

@ratsmagicthat's a good idea I will try to restrain myself till tomorrow, and have a good amount of water in the day and if all is fine I can inject in the afternoon/evening

Hello, im an MN newbie. I’m expecting my first Mounjaro pen delivery tomorrow. After weeks and weeks of deliberating I’ve decided to just go for it and see what happens.

Im perimenopause and my weight has crept up and up, especially in the last year.

my weight has always fluctuated and my wardrobe is full of clothes from size 10-16… but even the bigger end of the wardrobe is a struggle now and I’m fed up!

I'm a bit worried about hair loss, as I’ve had this happen in the past when I was taking migraine medication, so Ive stocked up on multi vitamins and biotin supplements.

im also a bit worried about my face drawn and getting the dreaded ‘ozempic face’….is that still a thing with Mounjaro?

but i’m mainly exited!

I joined for some support and community with others on this journey too x

SW 15st 10lbs
Height 5’ 9”
I think I’d be really happy at 14st, but 13 would be healthier. I’m late 50s, so concerned about flabby skin!

Pinkapron I’m worried about what my skin will do too! I’ve gained quite a bit of weight in recent years and in the past when I’ve lost weight I was a bit (ahem!) younger than I am now and no doubt more springy.

Last time I lost significant weight, I was a good bit younger too!

I’ve just taken my first jab this evening, whilst feeling full, after a bit of a blow out evening, eating the things I love, whilst I can still enjoy them! Such an unhealthy attitude, and the one that has lead me to this position in the first place! 😩🙄
Tomorrow will be a new day and a new beginning 😊☀️☘️

Hi, I'm new to MN although have followed lots of threads through FB for the past year. I took my first jab on Friday and was so nervous I got my DH to actually inject me. I don't know why I felt so overwhelmed. He's the only person who knows I'm doing MJ but if it works well for me I'm sure I'll share the reason for my success with people closest to me. I've had a great weekend with zero hunger or side effects other than a bit of heartburn ... not what I expected! I've ended up setting up a MyFitnessPal account to log my food because I'm rubbish at knowing things like protein values. I'm also doing it because it's making me eat something healthy 3 times a day. Without the tracking I don't even know if I'd have eaten today or yesterday! Good luck everyone. Looking forward to following your journeys 🥰

MrsCob888 · 22/04/2025 06:36

One thing I will add is that I take electrolytes the ones I use are called tonic (small dissolvable tablet you add to water) I was advised when I started by loads of people to take an electrolyte as it helps with side effects. I also drink a flask of water a day 900ml and I make sure I get plenty of protein. I haven’t had any side effects except for very mild constipation and a bit of heart burn when I don’t eat but honestly nothing has bothered me enough to moan about. I have just took my first dose of 5mg last night. Ooh thatts. Another thing I was told - I take my injection about 6pm at night so if I get side effects they are in my sleep and that’s defo worked for me as like I said I’ve had nothing but very mild. I’m new to all this too but just wanted to share a few tips Good luck everyone!!

Yousay55 · 22/04/2025 07:23

I took my first dose last Friday and I haven’t felt any difference at all, except for being thirsty. I’m hoping it will start working soon! I’m eating in a calorie deficit, so I expect I’ll be losing weight, but I’m still very hungry!

Ooh good shout about the electrolytes.
I’ve used cheap ones from home bargains before, but was never sure if they worked or just made the water taste fruity 🤣 might invest in some proper ones x

Can I join?

I did my first injection this evening. No side effects as yet.

SW: 12'7
GW: 10'4

I'm 5'2 and just turned 41 today (🥳)

I started the month at 13 stone, and have manage to lose half a stone by calorie counting and drinking protein shakes. I'm hoping the pen will help keep up the momentum.

I'm setting small goals to start with, and my hope is by the time I finish this pen I will be below 12 stone.

Looking for a friendly support group, as last time I lost 1.5 stone I did it with the help of a MN group and their help and support were invaluable!

Hey, we are twins!

Im 41, 5ft 2 and weight 12,7 as my starting weight.

im also looking for some pals to do this with, for motivation and advice etc.

im hoping my first pen arrives to day and will be using it as soon as it comes.

im a bit scared of injecting so im not going to put it off.

happy birthday for yesterday 🥳

@Yousay55 the first pen 2.5 is not a therapeutic dose so this is just to let your body get used to the medication as you titrate up. Luckily for some people 2.5 stops the food noise but don’t be disheartened because like I said this is a sub therapeutic dose x

CosmicCuppa · 22/04/2025 09:46

Official one week weigh in and I’ve lost 8lb. That’s a good amount of water weight too so I’m pleased with that.

HW: 24st 6lb
SW: 22st 1lb
CW: 21st 7lb

I’m 5ft9 and had a baby with a c-section about a year ago. First big goal is 20 stone (my lowest weight in about seven years).

I was happiest at 16 stone so while I’d like to one day be down to a healthy BMI (around 12.5 stone) my big official ‘YAY’ goal is 16 stone. Hoping to do it by July next year for a wedding so I can fit into a beautiful dress for my friend’s wedding.

wlinewbie0425 · 22/04/2025 12:53

Hi everyone - great to have so many of us starting around the same time. My delivery arrived this morning, but still going to wait until Thursday tempting as it is just to start.

interesting tips on the electrolytes thanks.

After a year of dithering my first pen is being delivered this week.

I have PCOS and at 5ft4 I'm nudging 12 stone so ideally I'd like to get to 10 stone. I know it's not masses of weight compared to others and I wasn't even sure I'd qualify but I went with Voy in the end who have PCOS as a determined condition if your BMI is under 30.

I'm a bit worried about side effects, which has put me off starting the treatment in the past but I'll just have to deal with it if and when it happens.

what a cracking start !

i like the idea of having smaller targets then bigger targets.. I’m going to have a think of what my milestone targets will be.

I absolutely love your goal of wearing a special dress for a special occasion. You will get there .. and look amazing in that dress !

CosmicCuppa · 22/04/2025 14:00

For those worried about side effects, so far I’ve had none. Potentially a bit more thirsty but that’s it on 2.5mg.

And for those who are much bigger like me hoping to see instant results, please don’t get in your head about it. I’ve lost 40lb since June last year naturally and all of my clothes still fit! I haven’t even gone down a size yet. I think it’ll take another two stone loss before I need to consider one size down.

The pounds may be fast to come off but that doesn’t mean we’ll see massive non scale victories for a while. I’m always jealous of those who have a significant visual change after a stone or so but for us bigger ladies that’s not always the case so stick to it!

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 14:05

Hi, can I join you? I ordered my mounjaro yesterday and it's arriving tomorrow. I plan to start right away before I talk myself out of it. Only my husband knows I'm trying it. Everyone else seems to disapprove 😔

I'm 14st 6lbs at 5' 5" BMI 33

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 14:39

Thanks MsRicoletti I had a lovely day and managed to have treats without massively overindulging.

I really don't like needles, but I genuinely couldn't even feel it, fingers crossed it's the same for you.

I'm counting today as D1 as I took mine yesterday evening. I've not had any symptoms apart from needing the loo more often, but no loose stools. I've had hunger pangs, but they seem easier to ignore. Not sure whether this is because I've been ignoring them for weeks already or due to MJ. No headache/nausea/indigestion so far.

Milestone targets are a good idea. It can be a bit daunting to set a target for 3 stone and then it takes aaaages. Little targets that you can meet on the way down feel very satisfying! They can be non-scale targets, too, like get back into a certain pair of jeans!

I put on 2 stone within 6 months 3 years ago, after being relatively consistent for years (apart from pregnancy). I want to see 11 on the scales so badly, for the first time since May 2022!

MsRicoletti · 22/04/2025 15:01

I’ve just taken my first dose!

it just came in the post so I did it straight away before I got too scared.

Yippee, you are right I didn’t feel a thing!

I injected into my soft chubby little belly, and didn’t feel the needle at all. I was worried it would feel weird going in as it was cold to the touch (cold packs in packaging) but absolutely nothing at all.

Im so ready for this weight loss journey, bring on the skinny jeans! 🥳🥳🥳

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 16:12

Hope mine is as pain free tomorrow 🫣❤️
