I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Pops into room. Looks round nervously. Then asks are men allowed in here ?
No problem if im not welcome, i get it. Women need and deserve women only spaces so if any tells me to do one i will go.
On the other hand, if its not a problem, i took my first jab on Saturday night. 6ft Bloke, 18 stone 6lb. Type 2 diabetes after being pre diabetes for a decade. Chose Mounjaro instead of the Metformin offered by my gp.
Big suppression so far, mild side effects.

SkibidiSigma · 22/04/2025 18:34

I have had the pen in my fridge since 19th but med express didn't include the needles and gave me double amount of swabs instead so I'm waiting for delivery of the needles. Hopefully this will be tomorrow. I am 160cm (5'3) and 94kg. I also drink far too much and have ADHD (unmedicated due to hypertension and a heart problem) and have a small hope mounjaro might also help with these issues.

I'm desperate to lose weight and see losing weight as the starting point of turning my life around. I realise it will also take effort from me but as this is costing a considerable amount of money (that I really can't afford tbh) I WILL make it work. 🤞 for success for us all with minimal side effects.

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 18:51

Chunky I've already been calorie counting, so planning to just continue.

ScouseBloke just keep your appendages to yourself and you'll be fine 😉 What side effects are you experiencing?

Skibidi hope you get your needles tomorrow. It's becoming a common refrain, but I've read a lot of threads and lots of people have commented on it helping reduce their alcohol intake.

Scousebloke · 22/04/2025 18:54

Yippeeabsentmindedly - Thanks. Side effects mainly mild nausea. And burping (lots of burping) which i never do.
But no food noise. At all. Loving it so far to be honest.

Thankyou chunkysewist

I'm in! Ordered tonight, feeling a bit nervous but relieved to have taken the plunge. 5'6", 4 stone or so to go. Don't eat badly, just too much. And too heavy for impact exercise at the moment

StartingApril2025 · 22/04/2025 19:00

Hi everyone , I’ll join you please! I have just made an appointment to start through a private GP on Saturday so hoping I will start then. Have deliberated over this for months and finally spoke to my husband and he is fine with me starting it, obviously worried about safety as we all are. The cost to do via the GP was not much more than online so I have decided to do that as means I have someone to go see if any issues etc and a physical check in and they do all bloods etc too. A relative has been on Wegovy 10 months and lost 3 stone and absolutely thinks it’s life changing. Zero side effects.
ive decided mourjano as I have more to lose. Hoping it helps with my pcos symptoms and my pre diabetes blood sugar highs and lows I have.
anyone got any good Instagram pages to follow etc for advice?
SW for me 15.6( I think- scales are rubbish so will know for sure on Saturday)
My ideal target would be 11:7 which would have me at a healthy BMI.

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:00

@SkibidiSigma i feel the same. I'm wasting years waiting to lose weight so I can get on with my life. I'm 43 now and enough is enough. It's alot of money and I'm scared of what may happen long term but if I do nothing I'll not have my health for much longer anyway.
I'm really looking forward to not having the food noise.

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:02

Welcome @ellieinfrance and @StartingApril2025

SerenelySmiling · 22/04/2025 19:13

What's everyone doing if their appetite is fully suppressed? I've only eaten 490 calories today (day 5) and I'm not hungry at all. Tbh I only ate those foods because it was meal times and 'I should'. Don't really want to have snacks or unnecessary meals as that's what I'm trying hard to train myself out of doing!

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:23

@SerenelySmiling could you have some nuts? They pack protein and calories without being too filling?
I can't imagine having no appetite, did it start quickly after your first jab?

Scousebloke · 22/04/2025 19:31

Serenelysmiling/chunkysewist - im astounded at the suppression. Today, at about 1pm i started thinking im a bit peckish now, i will eat soon. Im a taxi driver and usually need to stop and eat within an hour of that initial thought. Finished work at 5 without having stopped to eat and felt no more hungry than i did at 1. Normally id think of nothing but food but i had just forgotten about it.

MsRicoletti · 22/04/2025 19:32

So nice to see so many people joining and sharing their stories.

i had my first Jab this afternoon. I hadn’t eaten anything, just loads of coffee (stupid busy job) so was feeling pretty floppy with hunger by 6pm. Ive just eaten some chicken and roast veg. I’m worried it’s going to sit in my stomach like a stone, but maybe it’s too soon for it to have kicked in yet? I didn’t eat much and I do feel quite full 😳

I wondered if anyone here is a smoker/vaper, and is secretly hoping to develop superhuman willpower against that addiction alongside losing food noises?

I can’t wait to experience this!
I often dont eat until later in the day , mainly though work and disorganisation… but then I crave really delicious and calorific things and tend to overindulge into the night…

I dream of eating a sensible dinner and not thinking about food again until the next day!

Caddycat · 22/04/2025 17:21

How is it so far?

All good so far. I started with a 1.25mg dose as I have a tendency to react badly to meds. But all good so will do a proper dose of 2.5mg this Thursday. Not much in the way of side effects (probably as such a small starter dose) apart from some mild constipation and I felt quite cold the first afternoon (but I had been open water swimming that morning at 6am so was probably cold and tired from that)

YippeeAbsentmindedly · 22/04/2025 19:45

I seemed to be doing okay this morning, felt a bit hungry but like ScouseBloke said, I was busy so kept forgetting. Then I had a protein shake and high protein salad for lunch, was still hungry so had some cereal, had dinner 3.5 hours later and have been eyeing up the DC Easter eggs when I haven't been bothered for chocolate in nearly two weeks after I finally managed to crack my evening sugar addiction.

I don't think I'm having the immediate suppression some people have experienced 😂 It's still only day 1, though, and this is technically not a therapeutic dose, so I'm not giving up yet!

Anyway, I resisted the eggs and am going to brush my teeth when I finish getting the DC to bed, so that'll be the end of that.

TheNinthLock · 22/04/2025 19:47

MsRicoletti · 22/04/2025 17:17

Honestly, it doesn’t even look/feel like a proper needle. It’s really short and very thin. I expected a little sting at the very least, but I honestly couldn’t feel it. I think it helps that you have to inject it into a squishy area 🤣

I agree. I am a bit squeamish when it comes to needles (despite forcing myself to donate blood every 16 weeks) but this was not noticeable. So small and thin that I did not feel it go in. Super easy!

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:49

I'm getting nervous and excited! Really hope my pen gets delivered tomorrow 🤞I go away on a short break in 5 weeks, hoping I can make a good start, I'm not expecting miracles but I'd like to at least feel in control of my eating by then.

Shrinkingsali · 22/04/2025 19:52

Hi,

im joining in. Signed up with juniper and waiting for my photos to be approved, that was a humbling experience.

im 5ft 8, size 18

SW 17st
GW 11st

ive been debating this all year as so scared of side effects. But being this overweight has its own set of side effects so it’s time to give it a try!

good luck everyone

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:52

@YippeeAbsentmindedly well done resisting the Easter egg!
I've had my snout firmly in the trough this evening 🙈 I need this mounjaro to work, I'm a monster for food!

StartingApril2025 · 22/04/2025 19:53

@MsRicoletti yes me! Surely this can help the nicotine addiction too?!

Chunkysewist · 22/04/2025 19:55

Welcome @Shrinkingsali glad to have you here.
The dreaded photos, I looked so awful in mine and like you said it was very humbling. I wore white cycling shorts for mine with a tight white tshirt, I looked like a marshmallow! 😂

StartingApril2025 · 22/04/2025 19:53

ah not just me then! I’m really hoping it does. I often find myself vaping to avoid snacking, or equally snacking to avoid vaping 🤣🤣🤣

I’m hoping this will nip both of those tendencies in the bud!

let’s keep eachother updated of any progress in the nicotine department…

Cravingpotatoes · 22/04/2025 20:01

Hey 👋
Jumping in as placed my first order today. Just waiting for script to be approved. Heaviest I’ve ever been and feeling rubbish, just need a kickstart as pretty sure I’m pre menopausal and NOTHING is working right now.

H - 5’ 2”
SW - 91kg
GW - 68kg (but I’d settle with 70)
