I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Well done new joiners and those with new losses fab to hear great news. This is my toughest day so far. Not been sick and have managed to eat small amounts but nauseous most of the time since waking up and a bit of a dull headache. According to the app the levels are peaking in my system this evening so hoping I will feel better tomorrow.

Edited

Can you remind me what app is this please? I’ve seen mention of it further up the thread but there’s too many posts to trawl through!

Since my second jab I feel like I've been needing a 30 min nap in the afternoons....well actually I don't need to even sleep, just lie quietly for a bit really as I have like a rush of fatigue hit me. I'm fine after though. Could also be the heat mind 🤔 Anyhoo I'm having a some water with electrolytes in now. Had a protein shake for lunch and some grapes. It's home made burgers in a crusty roll with salad and and some oven chips for tea. Also I bought a case off etsy to keep my pen etc in, I'm looking forward to it arriving and I can stop having it all rolling around in my bedside drawer 😊

Well done doing your first jab @PoisonIvy89 ❤️

Good idea about a case to keep everything together!

Ha! I just made a right hash of jab number 2 - doing it in my belly as per number 1, but just too much getting in the way - boobs, necklace, top, etc, and it nearly came out at one point as I was finding it tricky to push to dial in. I now have a yellow lump just under my skin, presumably of pooled medication 🙄. Google reassures me it’ll be fine and I felt the metallic taste I got last time so I know it’s gone into me. I think I’ll sit down and do thigh next time so I can see properly to steady my hand and have a bit more control over it. 🤞for more effect this time and a little bit more than a 1lb loss over the week!

Sunshineandpool · 01/05/2025 16:11

Did you inject where you had a stretch mark at all?

Possibly, would that make a difference? They are very old and faded stretchmarks, pregnancy was a looong time ago, so they are not very visible, I'd probably have to shine my phone torch on my skin when injecting to make sure I don't hit directly on one.
Gotta go search for the needle mark now and see if I did...

Sunshineandpool · 01/05/2025 16:29

Just came back from a walk in the sunshine. I think the energy boost has faded...but I'm due my next jab tomorrow evening. I think the waking early side effect is actually helping me to wake when I need to without feeling completely fatigued so not sure if it is just that making me think I have more energy anyway!

I'm boiling so had a mini milk ice lolly 😋 Going to make some ice water now. I'm making chicken enchiladas for dinner tonight. Oh and before I forget I'll add some more of the high protein breakfasts.

So nice to hear how everyone is doing. Sorry I can’t keep up with all the messages but for those who are struggling with not getting as much suppression early on, it is hard to keep motivated. But today was the first day I’ve felt anything, (second jab last night). I had a couple of iced coffees with skimmed milk in the morning and plenty of water, and then it got to 4.15 pm and I realised I really hadn’t thought about eating. I made a smoothie with banana, ice, skimmed milk, almond butter (not too much!) and some chocolate protein powder (the Freja bone broth one as I’m not a fan of the more artificial ones) and that has filled me right up. I’ll then have family dinner later. I am actually wondering if this is the way to go for me. I have a tendency to eat for the sake of it, and I’m wondering if I stick to a smoothie once a day and lots of water and the odd coffee then have a normal family meal (albeit maybe a smaller portion than I would otherwise) that might help…

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 16:56

@Sunshineandpool yes I do agree- I think it might be useful for some to know that suppression doesn’t always come as some ‘undefinable internal sensation that you’ve never experienced before ’ - it can simply be ‘ok with less’ - and yes plenty are still able to eat decent amounts- not just the few mouthfuls. In which case it’s 100% about eating the right things , albeit slightly smaller quantities , rather than relying on a bit of a ‘taster menu’ experience of a few mouthfuls

BonnieClydeSW15 · 01/05/2025 16:57

Can I ask whether having higher levels in your system is supposed to make you feel better or worse? W2D1 and have felt much more nauseous today but also hungry. Not sure if it’s just my body wanting more calories as I’ve dropped right down because couldn’t face eating. Shotsy says I’m heading for peak levels tomorrow but that my current level is higher than last week so am a bit confused!!! 🙈

alligatorshmalligator · 01/05/2025 17:31

Hi everyone. I took my first Mounjaro 2.5 jab on Tuesday evening and have frankly felt horrific ever since. Nauseous, exhausted, headache, barely even have the energy to walk around but also really unsettled at night so not sleeping well. I’ve already decided it isn’t for me, I haven’t been able to eat a thing. Yesterday was half a sandwich and some Greek yoghurt and fruit (which I forced down). Today I had a protein smoothie this morning and tried to eat some soup for lunch but felt like I was going to throw up. I was gagging whilst eating it! And haven’t been able to eat since. I know I’ll feel better if I do but I just can’t stomach it.

what do you guys eat when the suppression is really high?

I've already decided it isn’t for me. I don’t like the feeling and even if it goes away soon, I’d be terrified to take another jab in case I feel like this again. It’s not worth it for me. How long in your experiences does it stay like this and if I don’t ever jab again when will I start feeling “normal” again?

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 17:39

@alligatorshmalligator I must admit I was like you although I could eat ok - indigestion, nausea, tummy ache - I’ve just done week 5 and it has improved week on week - I’m still unsure whether to carry on because I’ve got good willpower anyway and can easily do 1100 a day without MJ I just get bored to be honest - I’m not losing any quicker than I would if I actually stuck to the1100 and more excercise persistently and yet paying for the privilege - however you may not be me, so if it comes down to side effects I will be honest and say it significantly improved for me on week 3 - days 2/3/4 we’re always dreadful on first 2 weeks of it

MsRicoletti · 01/05/2025 17:45

@alligatorshmalligator are you drinking plenty ? I felt awful before I discovered electrolytes and realised I needed to drink about 4 litres a day to feel ok.

my first few days appetite suppression was wild, I could barely eat and didn’t… which made me feel worse!

im week 2 day 3 and my appetite suppression isn’t as strong this time round , with me able to eat enough to feel ok all day. And I drink drink drink fluids all day…. Which means I feel better overall though I also have to pee every half an hour 🤣

I hope you feel better soon xxx

MsRicoletti · 01/05/2025 17:46

I also sipped on a few slimfast shakes that I had in the cupboard on the days I wasn’t able to face food x

alligatorshmalligator · 01/05/2025 18:16

Thanks both so much for your opinions

@MsRicoletti- I have always drunk a ton of water but probably closer to 2-3 litres rather than 4. I keep saying I need to get electrolytes too so I’m going to do that now and hope it helps, any recommendations?

@Crikeyalmighty- I’m honestly exactly the same. I can do it on my own and regularly fast all morning anyway, I just quite liked the idea of not having to think about it and let MJ do the hard work but it definitely isn’t working for me. I don’t like feeling like this and it doesn’t feel worth it, I just had an extra stubborn 10lb that I wanted to lose and thought this would help, but in hindsight I wish I’d just persevered and done it myself. I go away on a girls trip next weekend and I’m terrified I’m going to feel like this while I’m there!

Yes, that is a very good point. It is good for different people to comment here how they are feeling on the medication so we can see the different ways people experience it all as 'normal'. And yes 100 percent, I think as we are eating less it is even more important to make it the right food!

Are you just feeling hungry because you feel sick? Maybe you need something to line your stomach?

PumpKim · 01/05/2025 19:16

Today was my first full day after jabbing last night. Slept as well as I ever do (I'm a terrible sleeper). Have felt absolutely fine today. I think someone about 30 pages ago mentioned tender skin? I've got that at the bottom of my neck and shoulders. Feels tender when I touch, bit of a weird SE if it is down to MJ, and I wouldn't have linked it all if I hadn't seen someone else say it.
I've eaten my meals today but no snacking. Finished my lunch but was thinking, I don't actually need this. Didn't finish tea but DH had given me a huge portion. Feels silly to think it's the MJ already, but maybe 🤷‍♀️

Feeling apprehensive about day 2 as seems quite a few have had worse symptoms on day 2. Got a big night out tomorrow so don't want to feel unwell.

I think it may have been me with the weird tender skin sensation. It went the following day (I also jabbed on a weds, had it on the Thurs and it went away on the fri).

I did do a bit of digging about on other threads and saw someone had said the same, and said the name although I don't recall what it was and that it is being investigated as being a side effect.

I have had second jab last night and I haven't had that same sensation today so was maybe a one off.

However.. I also seem more sensitive to smell since I have had MJ ( no idea if that is related at all.. just seems like senses are heightened which was how that skin thing felt). As in smells like the blossom on the trees etc. Odd one and may not be related at all.

Hopefully you will be the same and that tender skin feeling will pass quickly. I thought it may have been the start of the aches but it didnt develop into anything else.

Good luck for your first week!

thanks@catchingzzzeds I don't know I think I panicked a bit after, it's not like taking one tablet that will be out of your system the next day if you change your mind or don't like how it feels. It's done and there's no going back for at least a week. Yes I do have commitment issues lol.

thanks @SkibidiSigma, it wasn't like a worrysome heat, more of a faint warmth.

@Brunocatmon well I'm not skinny yet so a bit disappointed, but other than that all feels normal.

@violetmondays I do bruise easily so will probably get one too, good to hear you had no reaction to your jab today. Well done on your 4lbs loss, that's a great first week!

Same. I'm on wk 1 day 4 and I'm so over this not being skinny yet lark 😁

Brunocatmon · 01/05/2025 19:48

Good evening all.

It's so hard to keep up with this thread. I'm wk 1 day 4. I had my first dose on Sunday night so counted Monday as day 1.

Literally no interest in food, ive eaten way too few calories, I'm finding it really hard to even hit a thousand a day at the moment but I'm about to have a piece of steak and some avocado. I'm not hungry but I know i have to eat.

I've had no side effects yet although we know that can change at any time.

I'm making sure to carry on with current exercise which is my very physical job and extra walking at the moment. I plan on adding to that next week.

Hope everyone is having a good evening.

Mounraine · 01/05/2025 20:16

@alligatorshmalligator I just wanted to show you some sympathy. I started with projectile vomit on W1D4, almost five days to the minute of injecting for the first time. I ended up really sick and felt very lonely and a failure. I hope you don't feel even half that bad. If I was you I'd treat the symptoms (e.g. fibre supplements or Senna tablets to keep things moving and not "backing up", pepto bismol for the nausea etc.) and see how you feel when it's time to take the second jab.

SparklyGlitterballs · 01/05/2025 20:27

Hi all, I haven't been on for a few days and it's moved on 15 pages! I haven't had time yet to read everyone's comments, sorry.

I'm W2D4. Suppression is still good. I'm able to eat, just not constantly clock watching for the next meal and I'm eating much smaller portions. This afternoon I've found the food noise creeping back slightly though. I've had to use my willpower to not snack (even though I'm not even hungry, just old habits). I'm hoping when I move up to 5mg the noise will stop.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 20:28

@alligatorshmalligator I’ve actually got some berberin based appetite suppressants lined up to move too and see how I go -I did lose 2stone 4 18 months ago in 8 months using them -they also have a similar GLP1 type feel - but the thing in hindsight I prefer is you take 2 before a meal and then kind of feel full quite quickly - but can take as and when -so wouldn’t take if going out or going on hols etc - and apart from feeling slightly sick for 15 minutes and a bit full that was the worse of the side effects. I have lost 9lbs in just over4 weeks with MJ and that’s on 1100 cal a day - but I would lose similar without if I’m careful -and without unpleasant side effects- mine have improved but I’m now thinking as I’m in the right mental space I would rather not run the gamut of how shit I might feel each week depending if I had upped doses etc

Thank you for the reassurance that has really helped. I know some people don’t feel any side effects and it feels a bit unfair that I seem to have all of them at once 😂

Great shout re treating the “symptoms” and I’m going to get some anti sickness meds in me tomorrow and hope that might allow me
to at least eat something. The exhaustion is really nasty, made worse I’m sure by the fact I’m barely eating, so if I can get some proper food down me maybe I’ll start to feel a bit better.

I honestly thought I’d love not feeling hungry, but in reality it’s actually just a little depressing!

Concur entirely with what you’ve said. MJ clearly works fantastically well, and if you’re one of the lucky ones who doesn’t have any major side effects (or any that really affect your quality of life) then that’s amazing. Clearly though that isn’t me, the last few days have been miserable! I can lose the weight by myself I just thought I’d give it a go - lots of friends on it and very few with really heavy symptoms so honestly just wasn’t expecting it. An expensive mistake but at least now I know it just isn’t for
me.
