I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

I definitely think the challenge with MJ is to eat healthily despite eating much less. It makes sense that our bodies may get very hungry day 5/6 with effects wearing off and especially if we have not had enough nutrition in the first 4 days. Like you I am definitely going to focus on protein. My health coach has just given me a document of 14 high protein breakfasts. I could put some on here if anyone is interested? I thought I would start with breakfast and go from there.

I'm having overnight oats this morning with plenty of greek yogurt and nuts.

Oh yes pls, I hate breakfast and am struggling to protein goals! I’ve resorted to a sludgey protein shake today 🫣

Chunkysewist · 01/05/2025 09:55

@MsRicoletti what you are planning to do is what I pretty much did in week 1 and I didn't have a massive drop off in suppression at the end of the week. I hit my protein goals, ate 3 meals a day (even if just a protein shake) and lots of water and fibre. I averaged 1300-1450 calories. Nuts helped! Weigh day tomorrow to see how things are going ❤️

Good tip on the nuts… I’ve got some Brazil nuts in the cupboard to will try and nibble on these today x

Crunchymum · 01/05/2025 12:47

Gosh I'm very jealous of everyone who has felt suppression so quickly?

I'm W1 D6 and although I've felt a bit less hungry than usual, I haven't lost my desire to eat. I get hungry before meal times as usual and I've still been having an afternoon snack when I'm hungry. I've been eating and snacking healthily / mindfully though.

Hoping for some suppression when I take the next jab tomorrow.

I didn't fare well on Wegovy (zero suppression and very minimal loss over 8 weeks so I moved to MJ) and someone mentioned on another thread that maybe as I didn't get any suppression with Wegovy that it's going to take a while with MJ and I'll have to work my way through the doses.

Anyone else not really had any suppression in week one / two?

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 13:03

@Crunchymum I think everyone is different - I don’t think I have suppression particularly - I’m on W5 - I can still eat perfectly ok just somewhat smaller portions- however as I’m only eating 1100 cals a day by choice I don’t want to eat less - I can do that level of cals just on willpower and eating more protein which naturally fills you quicker. it isn’t because 3 mouthfuls and I’m full -

in my case I’m using MJ because I love cooking and have eaten far too big evening meals for far too long and banged on weight - I was pre diabetic too and think this will put me back under again and pep my insulin up . It’s not because I need to be nibbling crap all day every day - so I think the idea of suppression will vary depending if you can stick at1100 or 1200 cals without needing to be only able to eat a few mouthfuls - we are all different and have put on weight for differing reasons.

Sallycinnamum · 01/05/2025 13:05

Heading towards the end of my first week and I've lost 5lbs, which I'm thrilled with.

The suppression for me is very subtle. I do get peckish at meal times but really can't eat very much, well not compared to what i used to eat anyway.

No side effects so far but am expecting this may well change over the next few weeks.

I'm hoping in the next month I might reach the heady heights of being 10 stone something which I haven't seen for years.

YourQuickBee · 01/05/2025 13:07

Hi, for anyone facing delays, I found TribElle, an online pharmacy that supplies Mounjaro and Wegovy. They were really efficient and got my pen out to me the next day.

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 13:13

@Sallycinnamum yes that’s probably how I would describe it - ‘subtle’ I don’t have this feeling of ‘oh I’m suppressed’ if that’s what everyone expects and I can certainly eat more than a few mouthfuls - I just am perfectly satisfied on somewhat less.

Crunchymum · 01/05/2025 13:50

Subtle is interesting. I'm definitely not eating like I was last week (no refined sugar, less snacking, better food choices overall, feeling full after a meal and not seeking out something sweet)

Maybe I'm just expecting too much.

This is a long game and of course I need to play my part. I can't just expect to never feel hungry again (and nor would I want that). I also don't want a sudden / massive loss. I want to do it the right way!

I'm just being a bit of a brat 😂

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 13:58

@Crunchymum ha- no I think you are expecting an ‘overwhelming feeling of ‘im never hungry at all and i can’t eat more than 3 mouthfuls ‘ I’ve not had it and on week 5 - maybe people on higher doses get it far more- I’m not sure I want that because on 1100 cals I’m losing weight gradually and still can eat just fine , just naturally somewhat less and no snacking. Now this overwhelming suppression may suit some who have not much willpower at all and would still constantly graze if they literally ‘couldn’t eat much at all’ - but personally it wouldn’t suit me and I think may well be unsustainable too unless they never come off it and that’s a really expensive way to keep your weight down long term -

PoisonIvy89 · 01/05/2025 14:21

I did it ! 😁

I did my first dose of mounjaro this morning. It's been four hours and I haven't died yet so that's a good sign. About five minutes after doing it I felt a warm patch speading out from the injection site. About twenty minutes after I suddenly got very cold all over except for the warm patch on my stomach. So that felt a bit weird, but both the warm and the cold have now gone and all feels normal.

Day 1 Mounjaro:
F 45yrs
5ft 6in
277lbs / 19st 11
bmi 44.7

That's a bit odd isn't it? How are you feeling now.

catchingzzzeds · 01/05/2025 14:31

Congrats @PoisonIvy89 it’s almost a relief when you get the first one over with isn’t it?

SkibidiSigma · 01/05/2025 14:41

Well done @PoisonIvy89 . Have to say I've been cold generally since starting and keep getting random shivers, but the heat at the injection site is weird. As long as it's gone now, hopefully all is well. And if it hasn't killed you in 4 hours it probably won't! 😂

violetmondays · 01/05/2025 14:50

@PoisonIvy89 I had heat at the injection site on my first injection and then it swelled up and ended up being a bruise which I still have - but I did my second slightly differently this morning and there was no reaction at all.

SassyLimeHelper · 01/05/2025 14:57

I took my first dose on Saturday afternoon, so currently on W1D5. The only side effects I've had were a migraine and nausea on day 2, but I haven't felt particularly different overall. I still want to eat at mealtimes and am snacking on fruit, protein shakes and protein yoghurts in between, keeping as close to 1200 calories and 110g protein as possible. I weighed this morning and I'm 5.5lbs down - would love to get to 7lbs by Saturday but my hopes aren't too high!
I'm 5'6 and had a starting BMI of 30.

PoisonIvy89 · 01/05/2025 14:59

thanks@catchingzzzeds I don't know I think I panicked a bit after, it's not like taking one tablet that will be out of your system the next day if you change your mind or don't like how it feels. It's done and there's no going back for at least a week. Yes I do have commitment issues lol.

thanks @SkibidiSigma, it wasn't like a worrysome heat, more of a faint warmth.

@Brunocatmon well I'm not skinny yet so a bit disappointed, but other than that all feels normal.

@violetmondays I do bruise easily so will probably get one too, good to hear you had no reaction to your jab today. Well done on your 4lbs loss, that's a great first week!

5.5lbs in 5 days wow!!

wlinewbie0425 · 01/05/2025 15:30

Well done new joiners and those with new losses fab to hear great news. This is my toughest day so far. Not been sick and have managed to eat small amounts but nauseous most of the time since waking up and a bit of a dull headache. According to the app the levels are peaking in my system this evening so hoping I will feel better tomorrow.

Since my second jab I feel like I've been needing a 30 min nap in the afternoons....well actually I don't need to even sleep, just lie quietly for a bit really as I have like a rush of fatigue hit me. I'm fine after though. Could also be the heat mind 🤔 Anyhoo I'm having a some water with electrolytes in now. Had a protein shake for lunch and some grapes. It's home made burgers in a crusty roll with salad and and some oven chips for tea. Also I bought a case off etsy to keep my pen etc in, I'm looking forward to it arriving and I can stop having it all rolling around in my bedside drawer 😊

Well done doing your first jab @PoisonIvy89 ❤️

@Sunshineandpool fab, thank you! They look great, would never have thought of cottage cheese for breakfast!!

I thought exactly the same!

I thought the reason my suppression was so strong was because I'm used to eating normal healthy food during the day. I'm not only eating a few mouthfuls, though. I'm aiming to eat a healthy amount. But my brain is not showing any interest in food until I take my night meds!

I think you are expecting too much, tbh! 2.5mg isn't a therapeutic dose. Most people titrate up to 10mg, some even higher to find the therapeutic dose.

I imagine it can feel like you are the only one not feeling suppression straight away but from reading lots of people's experiences you are far from alone. And it does sound as if you are experiencing some mild suppression already too!

I think being satisfied on less is suppression. I guess it's a bit about semantics! 😂
