I will be starting Mounjaro at the end of this week. The current April thread are mostly discussing the move onto their second 4 weeks so thought I would start a thread for those of us right at the beginning.

Just done the end of week one - feel really motivated and for once looking forward to wearing my summer clothes which should fit better this year.
I've been lucky so far with no symptoms apart from a bit of constipation, but just taking fibroget drinks for that. I started dieting 2 weeks before the jab so really ate clean with plenty of water - not sure if that helped with the lack of symptoms some people seem to have.
I am not weighing this week - just trying on my summer dresses which won't zip up the side - I am going to weigh monthly.
Starting weight 13.7
Goal weight 10.5 stone
height 5 2
My second jab is due tonight.

Can I just say that this thread is really motivating and will keep us on the track to the body confidence we aspire to - and to keep treats and bad food to a minimum.

I’m sure it’s more of a ‘in my head’ as it’s only about 15/16 hours since taking my first dose but it took me about 40 mins to drink my 2nd cup of coffee this morning- as someone who can normally have my morning 2 in about 20 minutes it felt weird. I didn’t feel sick or anything just a bit ‘oh yeah it’s here so I’ll finish it’ type feeling. And yes I know that drinking a 40 min old cold coffee shows that I now have no appreciation of coffee because the me before a child would never dream of drinking a coffee even warm never mind cold 🤣.

@SelttanIf it helps at all, I had to check the needle was actually in as I didn’t feel it 🤦🏼‍♀️ Good luck!!

A lot of us have found we felt an effect very quickly. I found the suppression built over the first day and was highest on the second day.

AbundanceofKatherines · 01/05/2025 09:44

@Sunshineandpool- great news about the cigarettes! I am a massive wine drinker - no off switch at all, frequently carry on drinking on my own after DH has gone to bed (raiding the crisps/munchies/anything edible). Last week - one very small glass of wine with dinner on 3 evenings. Absolutely no desire for a second one. This would be a life changer for me (and very possibly a life saver).

Amusingly, following my late night guilt message to my Juniper coach I received an out of office (for 2 weeks) message! That lets me off the hook for a while. I’m not very good at keeping in contact with people.

Thanks for the good wishes - I’m really looking forward to this holiday! Full of healthy choices and hope for the future.

That's interesting about the wine. I took my first jab on Tuesday and haven't had any wine since but normally I too over indulge especially at the weekend. It would be fantastic to have one watered down wine on Friday night and not be tempted by any more.

Chunkysewist · 01/05/2025 09:55

@MsRicoletti what you are planning to do is what I pretty much did in week 1 and I didn't have a massive drop off in suppression at the end of the week. I hit my protein goals, ate 3 meals a day (even if just a protein shake) and lots of water and fibre. I averaged 1300-1450 calories. Nuts helped! Weigh day tomorrow to see how things are going ❤️

Paranta · 01/05/2025 09:12

Has anyone felt much more thirsty on WLI? I never was a big drinker, but now I seem to be wanting water much more often. Don't know if now that my hunger is a bit suppressed (still in week 1) my body is recognising thirst, which it never seemed to do before.

I always struggled to drink water but since on mounjaro I've had no issues at all, I'm chugging it back 😂

Exactly the same as me with wine, no off switch. I cannot believe the effect on my cravings it has had. As @wlinewbie0425 said I drunk less in the entire week last week than I usually would in a day. I took my 2nd injection a day early as last night I was craving wine again so it was either bring forward the injection or crack open a bottle 😵‍💫.

If this continues it will literally be life changing for me too

Catherhino · 01/05/2025 10:07

wlinewbie0425 · 01/05/2025 09:21

@Catherhino I did exactly the same with the sharps box as have never used a needle before and had no idea. I’ve put my used needles wrapped in the wrapper from the wipe in a zip lock back too so far but ordered a new sharps bin from UKmedi with my extra syringes for golden dose.

They really need to put that in big letters in the instruction email at least for newbies! Must be so many wasted locked empty sharps bins!

Thanks! I’m glad it’s not just me 😂 I’ll order a new one now.
Oh I forgot to add my stats:
SW: 193.6lb
CW: 191.1lb
GW: 160 ish…

I’ve been wondering and musing about day 5 /6 / 7 appetite increase …

I barely ate in my first week until about day 6 and 7… so my body was in quite severe calorie deficit for about 5 days. and I did get hungry day 6 and 7, with low energy and general feelings of floppiness and meh.

im wondering if I am more able to get loads of protein in and eat more calories spread over this week before I get to the few days before my next jab, if that will be different?

So, im experimenting this week, having protein shakes and focusing on protein goals , to see if this helps with hunger in final few days of week 2.

im thinking about how calories and protein consumed over a week might affect my general hunger levels and feelings of low blood sugar/ floppiness / energy levels toward the end of the week as opposed to what I eat daily.

its not a very controlled experiment obvs, as my levels of the drug are higher given the build unit MJ and half life… but I wondered if anyone has any thoughts on this?

I definitely think the challenge with MJ is to eat healthily despite eating much less. It makes sense that our bodies may get very hungry day 5/6 with effects wearing off and especially if we have not had enough nutrition in the first 4 days. Like you I am definitely going to focus on protein. My health coach has just given me a document of 14 high protein breakfasts. I could put some on here if anyone is interested? I thought I would start with breakfast and go from there.

I'm having overnight oats this morning with plenty of greek yogurt and nuts.

I'm much more thirsty too, although a bit less so today (W1D6)

BudgieMom · 01/05/2025 10:20

Took my 1st jab last night before bed was so nervous! Up early for work so had a satchet of protein porridge and a coffee at half 6. So far no side effects! Got multi vitamins and collagen supplements so will take those and keep hydrated. Hope everyone has a great day 😊

That's great you are feeling motivated. I am too. I'll still be obese this summer but I'm looking forward to my clothes feeling more comfortable.

Yes please, if you could post them that would be great. I struggle to eat in the mornings anyway and used to eat loads at night. Part of my aim is to reverse that and make sure I eat well in the morning

Thank you for solidarity on side effect front. This is the first time I’ve had a not so nice side effect but am pleased to report it seems to have passed now. Not that I have eaten yet today nor does the thought of food sound appealing.

I have found thirst to be a major thing for me on days 1-3 post jab and so I really try and up the water intake on those days. I’ve been taking electrolytes as well which seem to really help the dehydration headaches.

I’m off to Holland and Barrett after work for some supplements. Definitely collagen but does anyone else have any other recommendations of things to take?

violetmondays · 01/05/2025 10:58

Week 2 day 1 here! A nice 4lb lost in first week, which is not a huge amount but I am happy with that.

SW: 13.3 stone
CW: 12.13 stone
GW: 10 stone

Jabbed this morning. Much easier (and less panicky) than the first time and it looks like I jabbed better as no swelling and bruising yet. Definitely felt more hungry the last couple of days so hope it curbs the cravings again. Remains to be seen whether headaches and grogginess will kick in later. Just hope the weight loss continues, those 4lb do tend to come off and go back on again quite often so if I can get a few more off this week then I think it will really improve my motivation - I would love to be able to fit into some of my summer clothes this year, I can't bare to have to buy bigger sizes again.
Good luck to all those starting this week!

Coventree · 01/05/2025 11:00

Just to add on the locked sharps bins…I did exactly the same! But you can open it with a flathead screwdriver in the middle bit then work it around each side to pop it back open 😊

verity888 · 01/05/2025 11:17

Hi, loving the chat 💓 what electrolytes and collagen are you all taking, scared about hair loss.

I'm 83kg, would love to get back down to 63kg where I was pre kids.

Also hoping my evening glass of wine craving is diminished xx

Hi verity888, I am using Willpowders collagen and Humantra electrolytes. The electrolytes are expensive so will be looking at others longer term, but these had a lower amount of salt and potassium which I needed because I have hypertention. But the lychee ones are very tasty....

SkibidiSigma · 01/05/2025 11:43

@Sunshineandpool fab, thank you! They look great, would never have thought of cottage cheese for breakfast!!

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 11:44

@verity888 my ‘wanting’ for Friday/Saturday night wine hasn’t diminished if I’m honest - but I do stick to half a bottle each night - so 2 average glasses. Maybe those for whom it has diminished were drinking more than this - like most days etc! I do know some though say they can’t take it at all - it certainly gives me a bit of acid reflux the next day whilst on MJ

Crikeyalmighty · 01/05/2025 11:46

@SkibidiSigma I’ve just literally had a whole tub of Longley farm with chives (25g protein) plus a banana- as brunch - It’s very filling and 350 cals in total

violetmondays · 01/05/2025 11:49

As far as alcohol goes, I had a couple of glasses of wine last Friday night and had an awful night so it really put me off. I tried again last night, wasn't as bad but after one glass I felt like I'd had at least 3 - but I was really tired beforehand, so the jury is out on whether I'm going to be able to continue having the odd drink or not...I don't really mind if I have to give up for a while anyway and it will probably help with the weight loss too I guess. Have others been managing to have a drink still?

Thanks! I did try to lever it up with a spoon handle but no joy 😂 Maybe I’ll have real look using a proper tool 😂

AdotHam · 01/05/2025 09:15

Thanks so much @MsRicoletti . I'll definitely try this, are there any particular electrolytes that you would suggest? In the meantime, more water it is!

I’ve posted a message somewhere on here about a vidrate free trial offer (a brand helpfully recommended from someone else on here) . I just went to the vidrate website and saw the trial offer.

Ive ordered a free trial box of 30 and paid £3:99 postage. If I really like them I might keep ordering , they will be £16 for 30 with no postage x

im currently just using some cheapies i got in a Tube from home bargains, and they are working fine… so unless vidrate are absolutely amazing I probs wont keep up the subscription as £16 is a lot compared to the few quid I spent on these ones 🤷🏻‍♀️
