New thread for all of us.

Thank you for allowing me to rant, share our ups and downs. Our group blows my mind of how we are so supportive of each other.

I've jabbed this morning - 45 clicks of a 5mg pen. I was doing 40 clicks the past couple of weeks so very slowly going up! I think I will go to 5mg eventually but I prefer to go slow. Didn't really have any side effects on 2.5mg but when I went up I started getting headaches.

I've definitely been losing weight steadily so maybe it's a bad idea to go up in dosage at all? I feel like I have no suppression and not enough satiety. But possibly I could address that in terms of what I'm eating - probably too much sugar. It might be that it makes more sense to stay on a low dose but tweak my diet. I don't want to cut sugar completely because I think it is not realistic to say I'll never eat cake or chocolate again. But maybe I haven't got the balance right yet.

It's surprisingly hard to know how to dose yourself on MJ! Maybe that's part of the learning curve of getting to know your body.

I did two pens of 2.5 but loss stalled in week 7 so I used the golden dose to double dose in week 8 and I’m back losing again. Just about to do my first jab from a 5 pen in the morning.
Glad the 2.5 is working for many of you but I needed to go up. If tomorrow’s weigh in is as I expect I’ll have lost 6kg in 8 weeks which is very steady compared to many others but hopefully sustainable.

6kg in 8 weeks is decent I'd say, but can see why you'd need to go up if you're stalling. It's different to if you had reliable 3kg a month steady loss. Hopefully it helps and you don't experience side effects.

Beinthepresent · 08/05/2025 09:23

Weigh in day for me! End of week 7. Another 0.9 kilos lost this week.
Starting weight when I applied for Mounjaro was 104.9 kilos
Today 95.7 kilos
Total loss of 9.2 kilos in just over 7 weeks.
I never could have done this consistently on slimming world. I'm so pleased.

Q: Would you jab 2 days early or 1 day late? I’m not sure about what to do as going away and don’t want to take pen with me…

Q: Would you jab 2 days early or 1 day late? I’m not sure about what to do as going away and don’t want to take pen with me…

It depends I have jabbed one day late as suppression remained strong over Easter weekend (2nd 5mg) , jabbing one day early this week as want to go back to Sundays (6th 5mg) and suppression not as strong.

TheBossOfMe · 08/05/2025 10:04

@Fuelledbylatte I jabbed 2 days early and it was a bit of a shocker with SEs - I'd have had to jab 3 days late otherwise, so probably would have been better to go later. If you're only going to be 1 day late, I'd do that.

Feeling much better today though - in spite the awful nausea, I ate a decent dinner yesterday, went to bed early and slept really, really well. The weight gain from last week's long weekend away is coming back off again, which is good. Not felt up for exercise, I was going to walk home from work but felt too sick.

About to fly - but unusually for me, I didn't load up on a full English in the airport lounge, just had a small croissant and an apple. Fly days are danger days for me (I do the London/NY trip a lot) - its very easy to eat 5 meals if you do both plane meals and then eat again when you get to NY. So I'm going to have the first meal they serve and have that as lunch, and then eat dinner in NY, skipping the pre-landing meal (which is a shame because it's like a cream tea!).

I've already looked at the menu for where we're eating tonight, and chosen what looks like a nice mixed leaf and globe artichoke salad for my starter (will ask them to leave the dressing off and just give me a lemon to squeeze over it instead), and then moules mariniere for my main, without the fries or any bread. So I won't panic when we sit down and menus arrive!

Bloody freezing though, and airplanes are always on the cold side for me, so I've got a really thick jumper on and will get the duvet over me as soon as I can!

I've jabbed 1 day late when away. Rather that than feel ropey while away.

FrozenFractal · 08/05/2025 10:07

Someone please help me decide if I should go up to 7.5!! Weight loss slowed down so much over the last 3 weeks, I keep losing and gaining the same pound, or just stalling. Both kids have been ill recently and I know not getting enough sleep affects me a lot. My diet hasn’t been as clean as it could be either. I thought I’d do another round of 5mg but I’m not so sure anymore. I don’t feel massive suppression but dont suffer with side effects either.

Illbefinejustbloodyfine · 08/05/2025 10:16

When do you need to order @FrozenFractal? Can you do a week of really knuckling down with the clean eating and see if it helps? Your graph still has a downwards trend but I can understand it being frustrating.

I'd probably order the higher dose so I have the option!

Amjam2025 · 08/05/2025 10:17

@FrozenFractal I've been deliberating over the same question. I feel I'm still getting reasonable suppression on 5mg but also had a few days of SE (think it was because I had a Chinese takeaway!) So I've decided to buy the 7.5mg pen but I'm going to count clicks and give myself 6mg as my first, and then plan the rest of the doses once i see how I get on with the 6mg. Somebody else mentioned that you can get 5 (or more)doses out of a pen as long as you don't go over the maximum clicks, not including golden dose - i didn't realise this!!

@IllbefinejustbloodyfineI’ve got the golden dose left to do tomorrow, was debating doing more than 0.6ml if there’s more left. Should really be sorting out the order today or tomorrow so there’s enough time to process.

It’s a good suggestion though, to see what happens if I work at it properly.

PoundsLost · 08/05/2025 10:31

On Shotsy, it says my weight loss is averaged out at 1.6lbs a week. It feels slower than that so it is quite reassuring to see the numbers in black and white.

going up to 7.5mg next week - pen ordered and hoping for more suppression and a continuation of the no side effects! Other than having a cold nose.

Fatmumslim01 · 08/05/2025 10:57

Weigh day for me and another pound off even though I was away last weekend and basically ate all weekend 😂 mounjaro is definitely witchcraft there's no other explanation 😂

Getting so close to that stone now, total loss so far of 12 pounds in just under 7 weeks I think it is now I started 21st march.

I feel like I'm sticking at a pound a week now, which I know is sustainable etc but it seems so slow!

I'm currently on 3.75 but considering trying 5 tomorrow as I feel on days 5-6 the hunger and food noise is creeping back in like it did on 2.5 so maybe it's time to try 5. I was hoping to stay on the lower doses as long as possible to save money though 🙄

Height 5 foot
SW 14-7 BMI 39.8
CW 13-9 BMI 37.7
GW 11-7 (BMI 31) then will review.

I'm def feeling colder at the extremities than usual! Suppose that must be a side effect, with being in calorie deficit.

VED80 · 08/05/2025 11:34

Can I join please? Started in March - I'm now on 5mg & feeling good on it, so staying on this for a little while.

Total loss 23lbs thus far, which I am very pleased about & no side effects, which I'm even happier about! 😁

I'm trying hard not to be evangelical about it all. I am under no illusions, it's the jab doing the work, not me. As has been pointed out to me, anyone can lose on these jabs.

Bipaloss · 08/05/2025 11:38

I’m on my 5th week of 5mg and no SE other getting colder by the day , absolutely freezing my socks off today (started about 10 days ago as was only cold at the start of 2.5 before that)

MJMabel · 08/05/2025 12:16

Jab 9 for me today, so at the end of eight weeks…
SW 70kg
CW 60.85kg
GW 50kg

Am on 2.5mg, will do my golden dose next week and then onto my third 2.5mg pen.

Amjam2025 · 08/05/2025 12:22

Welcome @VED80 this is an amazing group for support, I wouldn't have been able to do it without all the lovely people on here!

Fabulous loss well done, but don't sell yourself short, I think it does still require hard work, determination, and willpower to lose the weight, even when using WLI. Especially for those with bad SE, shame that someone made that comment towards you. IMO I think you should be proud of your progress and what you've achieved!

VED80 · 08/05/2025 12:46

Thanks @Amjam2025 it was my brother - what does he know anyway?! Actually he's a GP, so maybe he does! 🤣

I've told everyone I'm doing it, I don't mind who knows. Several people have been interested in how it's working. The rest haven't said much.

TheBossOfMe · 08/05/2025 13:14

Hi VED80, this is such a lovely supportive group, cheering people on and picking people up, welcome! I don't agree that it's all MJ doing it, there are plenty of people on other threads in this board who aren't really losing because they're not adjusting their eating habits - it takes willpower and hard work. Even if suppression is really strong, it takes effort to eat a balanced diet with enough protein, it's very easy to eat almost nothing on high suppression days. Look at the many people who have had bariatric surgery but are still overweight - plenty of stories of people who just liquidise super high cal foods and then don't lose weight. It's as much about making mindful choices as it is about relying on suppression - so you should be so proud of your weight loss.

Plenty of GPs know very little about WLIs - my own GP admitted that, because the NHS are only prescribing for diabetes treatment, not weight loss.

Amjam2025 · 08/05/2025 13:17

@VED80 Oops sorry, hope i didn't cause offence!
Well I think you've done amazingly well 😁

I've lost 17lb since mid March, some days have been easy, some days I've had to sit on my hands to stop myself from picking at food! Twice today in work I've walked past a box of Freddos and I've not had one!!

Justformounjaro · 08/05/2025 13:20

I’ve weighed myself for the first time since getting back from a week’s Italian holiday. Pizza, pasta, gelato, a few alcoholic drinks coupled with not enough water and I wasn’t expecting great things. I’ve put on nearly 2lbs - however, my scales tell me that I’ve lost a pound of fat and my thighs are measuring nearly an inch less due to the amount of walking we were doing, especially staying in a 3rd floor apartment and avoiding the lift. I’m pleased with that.

I’d taken a half dose 4 days before the flight, and a full dose (2.5mg) the night before. There were definitely meals I couldn’t finish for the first few days, but even by the end, although I was eating more, I wasn’t desperately hungry.

It will be interesting to see what happens to those extra 2lbs over the next couple of days.

Will be water retention due to the travel and change of climate etc as well I’m sure you will be back on track in no time

I didn’t loose or gain last weigh in when back from a long weekend of indulging(plus TOM the day I got back) but 3 days later I’m down about 1lb so far for the week

I think that’s the lesson to learn in the future that it’s ok to enjoy a bit of the good on holidays but then focus on the rebound when back , something I haven’t learned in the past where the LB stayed and increased, instead of controlling it after a small gain

Bipaloss · 08/05/2025 13:35

Welcome @VED80 , completely agree with others although MJ is magical it also take work and mindful eating and mind control end of the weeks when suppression is not as strong . Give yourself credit too !

according to DH im loosing without effort 😂 but my portions and contents have completely changed. I also drink 2-3 l water every day where as before I barely had a glass

TheBossOfMe · 08/05/2025 13:42

Completely agree @Bipaloss - the focus on the rebound is really important, I've been guilty in the past of "fuck it" attitudes when I've gained, and just put even more on.

@Justformounjaro That sounds like a great NSV - I think that's why it's so important to track those as well as tracking weight. I'd rather be a bit heavier than the bottom of BMI target my doctor is pushing for, but fit and muscular. And those 2lb will go fast if you focus on the rebound.

I didn't have time to post my stats before leaving today - wanted to weigh before my biz trip so I know exactly what the change is when I get back.

SW 10st 4.6lb/144.6lb BMI 25.7 (prescribed MJ because of diabetes risk and hideous waist measurement)
CW 9st 2.3lb/128.3lb BMI 22.7 - 16.3lb down, 61.3% of target achieved.
GW 8st 6lb/118lb (26.6lb total target loss, 10.3lb to go) BMI 20.9 (low BMI advised as target by doctor)

Loss by week:
W1 5.5lb
W2 1.3lb
W3 0.7lb (ate out loads)
W4 3.3lb
W5 0.5lb gain (ate out loads)
W6 3.8lb (Post Easter weekend plus period)
W7 2.6lb
W8 1.5lb gain (BH weekend away, ate out loads)
W9 1.1lb so far.
