Day 2 for me and feeling terrible, really bad nausea and diarrhoea! supposed to be hosting family, is going to be a long day!

Oh no,Hope it eases off

fox919 · 21/04/2025 18:14

Thanks @Crikeyalmightyand @Bigfatsunandcloudsi did wonder if it could be the housework on top of not having eaten (was quite ‘active’ housework). Hoping it passes, can easily deal with headaches and bad bellies, but I really really hate being lightheaded!! I used to have low blood pressure when I was younger, but it’s been just right for about 10 years now!

W2d4 here. Has anyone had any symptoms of low blood pressure at all?! Was fine this morning, and was doing housework from midday. At about half 2 I started feeling off, a bit lightheaded and unbalanced. I hadn’t eaten anything so had a small chocolate egg and 2 pork pies and sat down for a bit. Doesn’t seem to be a problem when I’m laying/sitting down, just when upright and moving around. I had a nap and I’m still feeling like it after sleeping.. making me a little anxious (I do struggle with health anxiety) so thought I’d post and ask. I’m not sure whether it’s low blood pressure, but it’s not low blood sugar (which was my first thought) otherwise it should have gone after eating. Any advice much appreciated 🙏 thanks

I had bad dizzy spells in the gym last week, I thought I was going to have to stop. I’m going to have electrolytes if it happens again and hope that sorts it out.
ive always had low blood pressure (family trait, most of us get dizzy when getting up quickly) but my bp has been raised to normal levels with HRT. I dread to think where I’d be if I came off that! (On the floor!)😵‍💫😂

fox919 · 21/04/2025 18:21

Thanks @Pepperwaggytailrelieving to know it’s not just me!

Hope your day hasn’t been too bad. I had an awful first week especially on days 3-4 but it settled again and my week 2 is going much better - just a slightly unsettled tummy and some burps - if that gives you hope!

Peppermint tea and sticking to plain foods in small quantities has been the best thing for me, although I still had a few Easter treats.

Tenfoot · 21/04/2025 18:52

@Uninvitedleaf Have you been ok with spicy food? I love homemade curries etc but haven’t risked having them since I started the injections (coming to the end of week 2)

Uninvitedleaf · 21/04/2025 19:25

@Tenfoot that hadn’t crossed my mind, quite glad it didn’t as I love spicy food and I think it might be a deal breaker if I couldn’t have it!

I’m at start of W2 and no issues for me with home made curries or adding chilli to dishes so far. Tonight’s was relatively mild as DH can’t handle a lot of heat but I am a big fan of adding a bit of crispy chilli to my plate when anything’s a bit bland for me. I’ve been fine with my usual amounts of that.

Haven’t tried any takeaway curry but that sometimes gives me acid reflux anyway so will be interested to see how that goes by comparison to homemade if/when I do.

I’m out for dinner tomorrow night for the first time since I started and am more worried about whether I’ll be OK to have a glass of wine. I’m not a big drinker so this will be the only alcohol I’ve had since my first jab.

fox919 · 21/04/2025 19:42

Lightheaded has now gone thankfully! Though got a bit of an upset stomach now. I thought I was being a bit lucky with lack of side effects 😂

ymemanresu · 21/04/2025 20:02

Hi all, looking for some advice. Only started yesterday afternoon but my appetite is completely gone, i’m struggling to eat anything other some protein yogurt

Raffles134 · 21/04/2025 20:24

@Samilaa99 Good luck with your calorie counting & shakes! I really hope it works out for you 🥰

Tenfoot · 21/04/2025 20:24

@Uninvitedleaf oh brilliant, I am missing spicy food so I think I’ll have a try and see how it goes 😁

SweetChilliGirl · 21/04/2025 20:31

Hi, can I join you please?

I took my first jab after a light dinner yesterday and haven't really had any side effects other than a bit of lightheadedness (like a couple of previous posters, I usually have quite low blood pressure).

I've felt hungry today but haven't thought about food constantly, checking the fridge and snacking - I've just had three healthy meals. I had some muesli, yoghurt and berries for breakfast, salads with wholemeal bread for lunch and lamb soup with carrots and potatoes for dinner.

My starting weight is 12.6
Target weight is 9.7
I'm 51 and 5'4"

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 21/04/2025 21:04

Oooof W3 D3 and I’m paying the price for eating too many Easter eggs and not enough protein and fibre yesterday. Very nauseous, tired and headache. Going to bed early with a paracetamol and hoping I can get back on healthy eating track tomorrow.

@HateThese4Leggedbeasts after listening to the Zoe Nutrition podcast I slowly changed from the cooking of my Gen X childhood to a new diet high in fibre, protein and plants. I use recipes from the Zoe website and The Doctor's Kitchen. Have recently bought a couple of their recipe books but not sure I'm getting much more from them.

Most in my house are veggie or vegan - we use these Grubby meal kits and they are wonderful. We only ever order for 2 people and sling in an extra tin of chick peas or Tofu and we manage to feed a family of 5. They are vegan - so use lots of plant based protein and no dairy so automatically high protein and low fat. Think there is a 40% discount on the link for first food orders:

They are so good we never get take aways now as they just dont match up.

Had my first flass of wine today since starting Mounjaro - I had planned for a 250ml glass of wine within my calories. Within a few hours, a massive headache. And yet I didn't feel any of the nice effects of having a drink that i would slightly feel after a large glas of wine? Interesting. Took lots of water, lying down, loads of watermelon, a coffee and a few hours to sort me right out😂😂 didn't feel nauseated at least with the alcohol, but yes the headache felt like a hangover in 2 hours after 1 glass of wine! Very interesting! Certainly won't be trying that again if I've got any plans after.

SunnySpellsAhead · 21/04/2025 21:37

Hi everyone, first post here but have been following you all with great interest. Here's a bit about my experience over the month in case it's helpful for the newbies etc.

W4 D3
Start wt: 16st 8 @ 5'2 (hi gang!)
Current weight: 15st 12.6
Loss: 9.4lb (5lb, then 2lb, then 2.4lb).
Goal: Not sure yet but no desire at all to be skinny, just healthy.

Side effects: Seem to get me on the 2nd(3rd?) day - I jab Fri afternoon and Sunday is my affected day, but nothing I can't handle so far. 1st week, churning tummy all day as if diarrhoea but nil, 2nd week diarrhoea once in night after spicy curry, then yesterday, just super tired.

I'm using Nutracheck (a revelation as so easy to use and love the educational side of seeing exactly what nutrients I'm getting). TDEE is around 1350 cals a day (I'm quite sedentary sadly, hoping this will change) and my average so far has been 1276 - bit lower as I'm quite motivated to get rid of the 15's, will go slower after that as will be in it for the long haul.

Provider is Oushk, happy so far and will use the bonus dose as they can't deliver in time (hoping this was just an Easter hols thing, otherwise will have to order really early in future).

Plan to stay on 2.5mg for as long as it works, and suppression has been pretty good all week but do feel hungry by Thursday - think this is good, as need to not completely rely on it, better to learn some good coping strategies early on. Still finding it a shock to have space where food used to dominate, need to think of other ways to treat myself though, every Friday night, holidays etc. What do you do when food has been a crux for so long?

So, it's everything I'd hoped it would be so far, a tool primarily to get me started, but an incredible helping hand. Good luck everyone, new to Mumsnet but so glad to have found you all!

QS90 · 21/04/2025 21:42

@samilaa99 I promise you a milkshake diet, will be more painful than the needle!

So update side effects wise from stepping up from 2.5mg to 3.75mg on my 4th dose (my own informed decision not to influence anyone else) I’ve been ok, not overly hungry apart from a very slight feeling at the normal times so all good. I have a slightly achy feeling in and around my ribs but that could well be from exercise. And I keep thinking am I going to have a bad stomach or feel sick but I think I’m paranoid as my little girl was unwell overnight last night so now I’m thinking I will get it too!! But other than that and a few times I’ve been quite a bit colder than others around me I’m all good. Il be nervous to step up to 5mg just incase this is all very minor side effects which could feel worse on a higher dose but I expect I will step up il probably try to do another 3.75 this week if I can but have to see what I get as the extra dose as I did borrow a tiny bit of it last week so we will see

weight wise slow and steady
SW 99.3kg
CW 94.3kg
loss 5kg in 4 weeks (around about 11lb)

You absolutely will be able to tomorrow. And me too!! Two days off, doesn't undo all the progress.

Are you feeling bad / weak? If not, I wouldn't worry. A few days of eating very little, is unlikely to hurt you, if you don't have any underlying health issues. More likely it will be beneficial, if you're still feeling good.

Most people seem to find that suppression is stronger the first days following a jab, then the it starts to wane a few days in. So if you do hate it, it isn't forever x

Edited to say, the free version of the "Shotsy" app, estimates the concentration of medicine in your blood. So might be helpful to see when it starts to come down.

Is it possible to get 5mg pen and in theory use that for 8 weeks at 2.5 each week?

Theoretically - yes. But the medicine safety data sheet that comes with the medication suggests stability over 30 days - 8 doses would span more than that. Once you breach the seal of the pen the first time, there is potential for bacteria etc to enter the previously sterile vial , and again and again, every time you inject . If you decide to go ahead - I would suggest storing the pen in the fridge throughout the entire period and checking for any signs of cloudiness or discolouration before use. I am saying this as a pharmaceutically trained person but am not suggesting that you go ahead as this against the manufacturer’s licence. It’s your decision.

SquishyGloopyBum · 21/04/2025 09:06

W2D5.

drank alcohol yesterday and my god I’m paying for it today! I don’t know if it’s the jab or the fact it’s my first drink in a while. The headache and sickness is enough to put me off though.

I was hoping that the jabs would mean I limit my consumption but once I’d had a taste I was my usual self. 😩😩😩

sorry for the self pitying rant. I’m just annoyed at myself.

Don't be annoyed at yourself! You're still in really early days, and learning how your body reacts to the medication. Sounds like you were unlucky to boot - I've had a few glasses of wine on MJ, with no ill effect. Everyone's different, so how could you know?

And one day "off", won't ruin the progress you've made. So chin up! Half the country will be "back on" their various diets, starting tomorrow x

Is it possible to get 5mg pen and in theory use that for 8 weeks at 2.5 each week?

@TheDutchHouse This is just my plan, and don’t post this to influence anyone else’s choice, but I’m intending to buy a 5mg pen on my next order (which will be my second pen), but only use it for 2.5mg doses by counting the clicks. I’m getting good suppression on 2.5, but appreciate that can change so want the option to either increase to 3.75 or 5 if I choose. I’ve read the patient leaflet and note it says the pen can be unrefrigerated for 30 days, but I’m taking that to mean that it could last longer if stored in the fridge. It also states to not use the pen after the expiry date - the date on my pen is January 2026, and I’m pretty sure I’d use it all before then!

🚨shameless plug alert 🚨 I also have a MedExpress code for £40 off first orders if anyone would like it. Feel free to PM for the code. Thank you 😊

Had a really emotional day today. Whilst crying and feeling sorry for myself I thought, fuck it I’m getting a takeaway, never realised how bad my emotional eating was. I cried, had a glass of water and feel better for not caving in. I wasn’t even hungry but my brain tells me that I should eat junk food when I’m emotional/stressed. It was definitely will power today but I’m pleased I’m being more self aware of my eating habits
