Hi everyone

Hope you’ve had a fab Easter. I’ve just ordered my second pen. I changed supplier to the cheapest one on the Monj list. Bit of an initial hassle but it’ll be worth it for the savings, I think.
I’m also on a Mounjaro FB group and I keep reading bad things about the transition from 2.5 to 5. Many seem to have struggled with it, from a feeling grotty point of view.
How did everyone else find this change?

JMSA · 21/04/2025 12:55

Onoriafox · 21/04/2025 12:32

I’m the same - had a bit of food noise yesterday but when I had a packet of crisps (all I had in) that was all I went off on - mainly cos I couldn’t be bothered to go to the shops to get chocolate. I’m finding I’m satisfied with less and it’s not the battle to “get back on it”
it would be previously.

im also now wondering about whether to go for the 5mg for next month

is yours only your second pen?

and how did the food satisfy you yesterday? Did it feel different?

Edited

I have one bag of crisps per day, something relatively low in calories like Wotsits or Proper Chips.
They're the only treat I have.

wlinewbie0425 · 21/04/2025 13:21

My first pen arrives tomorrow, after reading lots of advice on the threads I am thinking to hold off injecting until Thursday evening to maximise weekend suppression and also as I wfh Fridays so can manage any side effects more easily. Good to see a few other very recent starts here - this thread is so busy and feel very far behind most of you.

SW 14st
GW 11st initially, hoping for 10.5 as that looks good on me. (I am 5’6”)

Djfjrjc2022 · 21/04/2025 13:25

I bought my first pen through medexpress. I went onto zava last night as I had a code- but they have cancelled my order as they say I don't meet their criteria even for continuing treatment and quOte BMI between 18 and 25 being classed as healthy. My BMI is now at 28. Are they just really strict? I uploaded photos 🤷

Tinkpod · 21/04/2025 13:28

Week one completed, I take my second jab in three hours today, I’m only 1lb down, but other than the aching sensation in my fatty areas in the first couple days I’ve not really felt any difference, my appetite is similar, I’m not really feeling any appetite suppression, no nausea or upset tummy. Is this normal for anyone else’s first week or two?

Mounraine · 21/04/2025 13:32

@wlinewbie0425 I hope you consider posting here, but in your shoes I'd start up a Late April 2025 Starters group too to 'meet' women at a similar stage as you.

TC4 · 21/04/2025 14:15

I’m not sure if many of us have gone to 5mg just yet, I think a few of us have now done our 4th jab so preparing for either staying on the same or 5mg or using the extra dose in our pens - I’m going to use the extra dose but hoping to get a bit more than 2.5mg

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 21/04/2025 14:46

Did my second injection today…. I’ve had suppression from day one so been mindful to make sure I’m eating. Lowest day was 870 cal and highest was around 1300.

Only had one upset stomach (after 2 slices of dominoes) during the week but felt bloated pretty much all the time.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/04/2025 14:55

@CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease I haven’t had any upset stomaches at all or any constipation either- I have felt waves of nausea for a few hours every day 2 and 3 of the three weeks so far and that’s only on 2.5 and 1 week of 1.25 !! Also a nasty bit of acid reflux in the night on the few occasions I’ve had wine,so I am now going to skip that for a few weeks

Raffles134 · 21/04/2025 15:53

@GreenSalon2
Im also with MedExpress and have been very happy with them. Easy & fast postage.
They will also price match to save switching suppliers.

Pepperwaggytail · 21/04/2025 16:00

So I messed up with the golden dose today! I opened my diabetic syringes this morning only to realise that there weren’t any needles with them! So I tried to break the pen, I managed to wiggle the twisty bit back a bit but not enough to get a full dose, then I accidentally squirted a load into the air 🤦‍♀️
Luckily I had my 5mg pen ready for next week, so I’ve done 30 clicks with that to get the 2.5mg dose I wanted to take. I’ve also ordered some needles to go with the syringes. I’ve never tried to put a needle and syringe together so im hoping I can see how to do that on YouTube for next Monday! There’s still plenty in the pen so im not too worried.
I tried a glass of wine yesterday lunch time, it was nice, but I’d usually happily have a couple more, I wasn’t bothered at all. Also had a similar disinterest in chocolate. Hubby gave me a cream egg, which tasted lovely but I really only ate it because he’d bought it for me. It’s as though the dopamine effect isn’t there any more.
I’ve still got great suppression after a week between doses, so I’m going to stay on 2.5 until that goes.

I haven’t gone up yet (I’m only on W2), but after my four 2.5 shots, I intend to inject 3.75 if I can get that out of what’s left, in order to help that transition. Going up to 5 is doubling our dose, so it’s bound to be a bit brutal I think.

TheDutchHouse · 21/04/2025 16:37

Is it possible to get 5mg pen and in theory use that for 8 weeks at 2.5 each week?

I'm a bit nervous of doing the same thing. I have got my syringes ready but also my 5 mg pen is ordered in case I mess it up. I've only taken the 3rd dose though so I've got a week to plan it or learn how to do it on YouTube.

I'm nervous for the increase. I've only had v minor side effects from 2.5. 3.5 kgs down in a couple of weeks feels helpful though.

I'm actually getting to the point where my past diets go off the rails though. I'm bored of eating "well" and don't know how to vary it up. I don't think I know what healthy good food really looks like in practice for me. Anyone have any sites with good recipe ideas ?

Crikeyalmighty · 21/04/2025 16:50

@HateThese4Leggedbeasts I like the hairy bikers diet cookbook

Uninvitedleaf · 21/04/2025 16:54

@HateThese4LeggedbeastsI love cooking so I’ve also struggled in the past with diets going off track because of struggling to come up with interesting meals! I use the Delicious Magazine website a lot (I’m a subscriber but you don’t need to be). Can search by things like low fat, high fibre if necessary or just ingredients. We’re having this tonight as an example. I might have some rice with it, I might not bother depending on how I feel. DH will get a larger portion than me and anything left over will freeze:

https://www.deliciousmagazine.co.uk/recipes/red-lentil-and-chicken-curry/amp/

i’d say I am still eating as I would normally, just less of it 😊.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/04/2025 17:01

@Uninvitedleaf me too -

W2d4 here. Has anyone had any symptoms of low blood pressure at all?! Was fine this morning, and was doing housework from midday. At about half 2 I started feeling off, a bit lightheaded and unbalanced. I hadn’t eaten anything so had a small chocolate egg and 2 pork pies and sat down for a bit. Doesn’t seem to be a problem when I’m laying/sitting down, just when upright and moving around. I had a nap and I’m still feeling like it after sleeping.. making me a little anxious (I do struggle with health anxiety) so thought I’d post and ask. I’m not sure whether it’s low blood pressure, but it’s not low blood sugar (which was my first thought) otherwise it should have gone after eating. Any advice much appreciated 🙏 thanks

SugaCane · 21/04/2025 10:08

Even though everyone keeps telling me that it’s a tiny needle and not as bad as we think, it’s still scary for me but I’ve bitten the bullet (and paid quite a bit for it!) so there’s no going back now 😅

Please let me know how you get on. This past year I've tried so many "diets" starting the milkshake replacement tmw 🤦‍♀️

Mounraine · 21/04/2025 17:48

@HateThese4Leggedbeasts after listening to the Zoe Nutrition podcast I slowly changed from the cooking of my Gen X childhood to a new diet high in fibre, protein and plants. I use recipes from the Zoe website and The Doctor's Kitchen. Have recently bought a couple of their recipe books but not sure I'm getting much more from them.

Crikeyalmighty · 21/04/2025 17:51

@fox919 well it’s sent my slightly high BP. (136/87 ) Back to a very good 123/77 - so I can imagine if your BP is normally bang on it could send it lower.

Raffles134 · 21/04/2025 10:17

I am on Mounjaro. I’ve been really lucky and only on the first day I had a bit of nausea, headache & felt cold.
It instantly stopped the food noise for me and I found I didn’t crave any unhealthy foods.
It is so freeing! I have eaten really healthy whole foods and I don’t know if this has helped me avoid side effects or if I am just lucky!

My start weight was 15stone 11lbs and my goal weight is 12 stone. I am also peri-menopausal and just haven’t been able to lose the weight. 😩
I am on WK3 D4 and have lost 12lbs.
Im still getting suppression and if I still feel the same on WK4 I might stay on 2.5mg a bit longer.

Provider wise I went with MedExpress who I’ve been very happy with. I’m sure you have seen you can get a code for £40 off your first order but after that they also price match if you don’t want to keep switching providers. I have a code if you want one.

Feel free to message me if you want to ask anything!

@Raffles134 please feel free to forward me the code, that's really good info, thank you, I'm going to try one last calorie counting/milkshake meal replacement diet and then bite the bullet if that doesn't work 🙈

Bigfatsunandclouds · 21/04/2025 17:51

W3D1
SW - 80kg
CW - 76kg
GW - 60kg

I had a bit of dopamine seeking yesterday (due to jab today) and had some chocolate and crisps but not loads like I used to crave. Felt a bit disappointed in myself but haven't beaten myself up like I used to do so that's positive.

Still no real SE other than a bit sick and not being hungry at all. I think I'm going to stick at 2.5 for my next pen and only go up to 5 if I really need it. I've had great suppression and don't want SE so I'll see how things go.

I did whilst exercising but I'd forgotten to eat. I have to keep reminding myself to eat so just make sure you drink and eat enough - small and often.

I was wondering this! I think they say 30 days for each pen but I’m not sure how critical that is.
