Has anyone else just thought they’d be fat all their life? I’m in my thirties with PCOS and have never had control of my weight. I buy myself a new wardrobe in a bigger size pretty much every year to make me feel better. I’m really, really hoping that MJ works for me long term, I’m starting to feel quite positive about my weight and future and haven’t felt like this probably since the age of 7/8. I’m 13 days in, 13 pounds down. I’ve reached the 17’s now so still a long way to go, but I no longer feel in despair and out of control anymore. It’s really improving my mental health (so far). I’m sure many of us on here can relate

Yes I absolutely had no hope of ever being different. This is the first time in my adult life I can see things being different.
I’m thinking and behaving as if it will happen and am excited.
I've even made a list of things I can do and wear when I’m not obese. It’s very motivating.

I saw a reel yesterday about adults who have been fat all their lives not really knowing what their goal looks like. If you’re a couple of stone overweight after being slimmer previously you can visualise and remember that but I can’t. I vaguely recall being a size 18 (a very long time ago) and thinking I was enormous. Of course I actually wasn’t. Overweight yes but not massively so for my height.

jabmethin · 18/04/2025 10:49

2lbs down this week. 7 in total and jab 4 tonight.
Not loads but ok.

Yes you’re right, thank you. 😊

I guess I’m used to those quick losses at the start of strict diets but that’s not what I’m doing, I’m changing my lifestyle.

Raffles134 · 18/04/2025 11:25

No I didn’t ask for extra needles. I also got 6 needles with my first order so I’m hoping I’ll get the same with 2nd pen then I’ll have 4 spare.

I have also ordered some needles & syringes that were recommended on another thread so I can try & extract the 5th dose and I’ve seen you can also buy the pen needles too so if I need to I will just buy some more.

xx

Yes I always do that! I was stuck at 15 stone size 16 a while ago and I thought I was HUGE. Look back on photos and wish I’d look like that now! I thankfully put on weight everywhere so if I gain 3/4 stone it’s only one dress size, but still depressing. I actually can’t even visualise wearing “normal” sized clothes, I shop in the curves section and have done for years, will be very strange when I get to shop in the regular section. Making a list is a good idea, I’m thinking things like being comfortable on a plane, going on rides without worrying if I’m too heavy, wearing a swimming costume and genuinely feeling good in my own skin. These are just a few things I’d never even dreamt of. I’ve turned down holidays because of my weight. You don’t realise how bad things have gotten until you change your perspective

TheCaloricDecline · 18/04/2025 11:50

On W2 D7 today, definitely feeling some hunger but not food noise. Going to use this day to bring my average calories up a bit as I have been low a few days this week, I'm trying to average at 1500 - 1600 cals per day. Will be jabbing again tonight. I've ordered another 2.5mg pen. Hoping this will keep on working for me although, I think for my next pen after that, I may get a 5mg so if I do find suppression waining, I can try 3.75mg.

fourapples · 18/04/2025 12:01

Took my 3rd dose this morning.
definitely eating less but still feel hungry and some food noise most days. I’m prioritising protein and eating 2 meals a day but just feeling like maybe the 2,5mg dose isn’t quite enough for me so I’m looking forward to moving onto the next pen. I still find myself thinking about food or eating multiple times throughout the day.
I feel like it’s a bummer to lose the golden dose though because I want to move up. Anyone else thinking about this?

I'm the same. I've been buying from the plus size/curve section for years in an 18/20 and the idea that I might one day be able to buy from a normal shop again sounds lovely. I've been looking at things in Vinted from Nobody's Child which is a brand I love but hasn't fitted me even though technically they have my size it's not really my size so I'm really really hoping I might be able to wear a gorgeous Nobody's Child dress to a wedding in September 🤞🏻

I'm not going to bother with the golden dose in my 2.5mg pen and just move up to the 5mg. I'm keen to just stick with the step wise increase for the time being. And maybe will explore the golden dose in the 5mg pen if that dose is working ok for me.

Newmum110 · 18/04/2025 12:11

@fourapples I'm the same as you, don't think the 2.5 is working for me so will definitely moving to the 5 once this pen is done. I'm accepting that this month is training my body to accept MJ & am happy that I haven't gotten any side effects. I'm going to extract the extra dose, I think it will be more than 2.5 so will be a stepping stone to the 5. No way am I wasting it, too expensive for that!!!!

Schoolsec · 18/04/2025 13:40

So first jab today. I’m crap at instructions so DH set it all up for me and injected me as I suddenly felt nervous 😬 interesting that some of you go off booze and wine. I wouldn’t mind that as a side effect. Wine is my down fall 😳

@Raffles134 @NewJoolz
hi, just wondering if you’re planning on getting 8 2.5ml doses out of the 5ml pen are you assuming the pen will be ok if it’s open for more than 30 days? In theory this sounds like a good idea in case you want to increase your dose mid month but just wondering if this is ok? Thanks

I think it is down to personal choice.
I will see how it goes. There’s a chance I might want to increase my dose anyway.
I have read a lot about people using it past the 30 days and that there is a chance the efficacy may reduce.
I am happy to try and see.

Sorry, I was trying to attach a screenshot but can’t see how!
Someone on another thread said that their doctor prescribes a pen for 8 weeks use and just said the same. There is a small chance it might not be as effective but that they have not found that with their patients.

@Summerbay23 yep, I did wonder about the efficacy of making a pen last for 8 jabs, but I think it’s a case of I won’t know if I don’t try it, plus as you say, it gives me the opportunity of increasing to 3.75 or 5 if suppression weakens. I was reading the patient leaflet today and unless I missed it, it does only say to not use the pen after the expiry date. I checked my pen and the expiry is Jan 2026.

How is everyone feeling? I am on day 3 (injected Tuesday night) and haven’t been feeling well. Awful diarrhoea that has passed, severe wind which is better, but today I feel very tired. Appetite is suppressed and I’ve lost 3lbs. Hoping week 2 is better but won’t be sustainable if not…

I started last Saturday and had the same side effects as you on Mon/Tue and exhausted Weds. The next day I felt completely fine and today too. I am nervous about 2nd dose tomorrow but will eat very carefully and hopefully my body will have adjusted a bit.

I will let you know how I get on!

Ethela · 18/04/2025 14:46

Is anyone thinking about using the 5th dose alongside the 4th so that you ar getting 5mg on week 4?

SusanSometimes · 18/04/2025 15:21

Just a very brief post to say I'll be doing my third dose of 2.5mg later, and that after two weeks on MJ I've lost exactly 5kg/11 lbs and 7cm off my waist. I'm so pleased.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 18/04/2025 16:06

W1 D5…. I haven’t felt unwell at all but my stomach has felt very full and bloated almost all the time.
I’ve been eating 900-1200 calories a day, would struggle to eat more. I’ll be intrigued to see my weight after a week.
First time ever I think that’s it’s Easter and I’m not at all craving Easter eggs!

Djfjrjc2022 · 18/04/2025 16:16

Second weigh in, will do third jab tonight- and I'm minus 8lbs! 4 last week and 4 this, so super happy!
I also am planning on staying on 2.5 as although I'm hungry still, a lot of willpower is at play and that feels more sustainable to me!
I was looking at getting the 5mg also and only taking 2.5 so interesting to see others thoughts! I did a Google earlier and people said 0.3ml of 5mg didn't equate 0.6ml of 2.5g, does anyone know if that is/isn't true? Was going to buy some insulin syringes if I were to go down that path!

Dobbysdad · 18/04/2025 16:32

Hi all, we've come away for the Easter weekend. My weight in is tomorrow morning with shemed. The plan for supper tonight is fish and chips which I'd never normally have the night before a weigh in. My body holds onto water a lot with salty foods. Now I'm in two minds. I know that in the grand scale of things if I eat fish and chips tonight any water gain will be temporary but it's also my first weigh in and I'm so so eager for the numbers to show well.
So jabbers, what would you do? I've got about 800 cals left today and no food suppression...I'm hungry!

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 18/04/2025 16:45

Can you order grilled fish instead of the battered fried fish? I think I’d feel sick if I ate fish & chips, though I love them!

The golden dose in a 2.5mg pen is often 0.9ml (so 3.75mg). It might be worth using it as a step-up dose. I am from the July chat and many people who stepped straight up got terrible side effects like days of diarrhoea. This dose is also worth £30!

I will try, if not I could take the batter off and have a few chips and see!
