Can I join please?😊
I’m currently waiting for dispatch from Medexpress having ordered on the 14th, I’m desperate to get started!

My starting weight is 13st 2 ( I’m 5ft 2)
Target weight 10st

Inspired by @Zireael 's post I thought I'd share my plans:

  • Eat a whole food, plant-based diet with low UPF.
  • Only drink water now I've managed to quit my beloved Pepsi Max. Might try cordial if necessary.
  • Keep the dose as low as possible for as long as possible due to horrible side effects in week 1. I'm currently on jab 2 @ 1mg. Might try every 6 days. (I got a lot of grief on another thread for suggesting I would do anything other than 2.5 every 7 days).
  • I do TRE out of habit nowadays, TMAD but might swap to 16:8 and three meals if it helps with side effects.
  • I track my food on Nutracheck due to working on my protein and fibre, but I don't calorie-count. Too persuaded by all of the "calorie-counting doesn't work" podcasts I listen to.
  • I'm not worried about being hungry, I just need a bit of help with my willpower around sugar.
  • Want to eat now as I intend to in maintenance.
  • Continue with my strength-training and walking. Start a bit of cardio with a gym class.

Hi everyone, I’m new to mumsnet but did my first injection yesterday. I’m absolutely freezing today! Hoping this helps as I need to lose about half of my body weight 😬

SausageRoll90 · 18/04/2025 07:46

Good morning gang
So while today is day 7, it's my 1at official weigh day as did my start weight last Friday morning and jabbed Friday evening.

End of Week 1 (2.5mg)
SW: 16st 9.5lb
CW: 16st 5.5lb
Loss: -4lb

I'm really pleased with that 😊 I've definitely noticed less suppression as the weeks gone on particularly in the afternoons/evenings and while I've been able to manage those hunger pangs/food noise so much better than I would have pre-MJ, the food noise has definitely been more at these times and it's been an effort to stay away from the kitchen cupboard... so I am looking forward to having my 2nd jab later today 👍🏻

lovelylight · 18/04/2025 07:47

@Mounraine I'm sorry you got grief just for trying to find a dosing schedule that suits you! I think people forget that pharma companies have to find a dose that most people can tolerate and most people will remember to take on time, but every body is different and if a smaller dose works for you then why not use it? When I was deciding whether or not to go for MJ I found lots of people online who do smaller doses or split their doses into two jabs across the week, and it gave me the confidence to know that I could adapt the dosing if it didn't agree with me. I'm actually considering split dosing for my next pen to hopefully avoid side effects and get a more consistent amount of the drug in my system across the week!

Mounraine · 18/04/2025 07:51

Welcome @SummerDancer , I too have found my hands and feet going really cold. How did you come across mumsnet? I read the Mounjaro UK sub on reddit and find it veeeery different in tone.

Thank you @lovelylight I really appreciate that message.

You get 30 sachets.

Morning! Took my second injection last night. There seemed to be liquid on top of my leg so slightly worried I somehow did it wrong.
Weighed myself and lost 4lbs in the first week. Considering I have not eaten much at all (multiple days of 900 cals) it is less than i would have hoped. But it has turned off the food noise, so that was quite amazing.

W1D3
Amazed at how a much smaller than usual portion size yesterday did the job
Perhaps finally I am finding the way to use food as fuel rather than worrying about where my next feed is coming from!!!

Thanks for reply 😊

God they’re awkward 😂 I’ll eat pretty much anything other than onions or grapefruit! Dp is also a meat and cheese (and carbs) person, very limited with veg he’ll eat. Dc1 is very very picky about food, but due to their incredible pickiness we’ve now come to an agreement that I make sure some of the weeks meals are their safe foods and if it’s not one of those meals then we have plain chicken and rice available/ramen noodles which they’ll always eat. Dc2 and 3 are younger so have that toddler pickiness, but I always try to feed them whatever we’re having regardless! Dc3 almost exclusively eats meat 😆 and pasta, and isn’t keen on much fruit or veg (likes peppers)!

some examples of meals I often make - pesto pasta, fajitas/tacos/burritos, (various flavouring) chicken and rice, paella, chilli, spaghetti Bol, chicken curry, sausage and mash, salmon and rice/potatoes and green veg, things and chips

Well that’s kids for you! My child is 4 months so not quite ready for solids yet 😆 I dread the day… Sounds like you’ve got a good amount of meals stored up, I’ll write a few of mine down and see if any would suit:

  • Roast dinner (easily adapted)
  • Massaman/red Thai/laksa curry I just have either veg or boiled eggs or prawns in mine and husband has meat
  • Burritos - I make veggie chilli as the base and load them up with microwave rice (lime and coriander is my favourite), lettuce, chilli, red onion, herbs, salsa, with corn ribs, husband has cheese - I love this and one medium wrap is enough for me!
  • Sweet potato and black bean quesadillas
  • homemade soup with vegan dumplings or bread
  • Sweet potato fajita tray bake
  • Breaded shiitake mushroom burgers, or in baobuns, with gyozas I buy frozen
  • Stir fry - adapted easily
  • Risotto (usually mushroom, I take mine out before the Parmesan)
  • Aubergine Katsu curry (bread the aubergine, husband has chicken)
  • Veggie sausage traybake
  • shakshuka
  • Dhal
  • Garlic king prawns with rice and salad
  • Homemade pizzas (if you want low carb there’s loads of keto recipes for the base online)
  • If I’m feeling fancy I’ll have monkfish or scallops with baby potatoes and salad

I make my husband hot meals for lunch which I don’t like:

  • moussaka
  • cottage pie
  • lasagne
  • pasta bake
  • meatballs
  • corned beef pie

Hope this helps!

TheNinthLock · 18/04/2025 08:57

Morning all. No issues post first jab, woke up with a bit of a headache but I did have some wine with dinner last night so that will be the culprit I’m sure.
Felt very cold yesterday afternoon but this wore off after a few hours (and could be due to tiredness, I’d got up at 6am for an open water swim) so don’t want to blame the MJ.
Slightly weird ‘pulling’ sensation at the site of the jab but that must be psychosomatic as with a needle that small it couldn’t have caused any damage.
Hope you’re all ok. It’s good to have people to share this adventure with!

Just done my 3rd injection!

Wk 1 -10lbs
Wk 2 -4lbs

SW 15stone 10lbs
CW 14stone 10lbs

Had no side effects in Wk 2. Still good suppression but also was really full quickly on days 1 & 2.

I’ve also just ordered my 2nd pen. Went for the 5mg but I will continue using 2.5 as long as it is still working for me. Ordered with MedExpress again as I got a £40 credit from my referral code! 😳
Just in case anyone didn’t know (I didn’t) they also price match. Might be useful rather than having to switch providers 🤷‍♀️

Thanks for suggestions of Collagen. I have ordered Willpowders, so will let you know how I get on!

Have a great Easter weekend everyone & here’s to avoiding the Easter Eggs! 😆 🐰 ❤️

The information leaflet in the box says that this is normal and not to worry - I got the same thing with my first injection yesterday.

fox919 · 18/04/2025 09:21

Thanks @Potato1234some great suggestions 😊 I’d eat every single one of them, fingers crossed I can get the rest of my family to give some new recipes a go!

@TheNinthLockI felt very cold all afternoon after my first injection but haven’t had it again since.

I’m going to take my 2nd dose 1 day early (today) so today will now be w2d1. In part as we have plans on Sunday so would like a little time in case of SEs

I think I did notice feeling fuller quicker and for longer on a few occasions, and did not have the constant urge to snack yesterday. Interesting that most people seem to find these things soon after the jab and it tails off towards the end of the week, whereas I had nothing initially and noticed it a little towards the end of the week. But was subtle for me as opposed to how it seems to have been for others.

Scales still saying 13.9 so I guess I’ll say that’s a loss of 2lbs in the first week (though as I said previously I’ve been fluctuating a lot so
will only consider it a true mj loss if it stays off!)

GRCP · 18/04/2025 09:24

How is everyone feeling? I am on day 3 (injected Tuesday night) and haven’t been feeling well. Awful diarrhoea that has passed, severe wind which is better, but today I feel very tired. Appetite is suppressed and I’ve lost 3lbs. Hoping week 2 is better but won’t be sustainable if not…

Welcome! My goal weight is the same as yours and I’m the same height, I’m currently around 10st 11lb and wondering if I will need to go as low as 10st? I do a fair amount of weight training and I’m trying to make sure I don’t lose strength while losing fat.
I still have a fair amount of back fat and bra rolls, so I’m using that as a guide for the fat loss rather than the scales. I am losing weight at a slower rate than lots of people here, but that’s fine 😊

fox919 · 18/04/2025 09:35

Hmm, injection actually hurt a bit today, I wonder why 🤔 also when I primed there was a lot more liquid that came out than the first time I did it (was a single drop on the end of the needle first time). Did I do it wrong the first time, or this time?!

vl888 · 18/04/2025 09:44

Lostfirsttimebuyer · 17/04/2025 23:03

Just injected my second injection this evening, so have been on Mounjaro 1 week now. Weighed myself today and have lost a ridiculous amount of water weight and am significantly less bloated than one weight okay - I have lost 10lbs (in what I imagine is mostly water weight but hopefully a little bit of fat?) and 2cm in bloat off my waist!
I was still feeling good appetite suppression on Day 7 today, so I was not quite sure about injecting today as planned, as I'd be happy to stay exactly as I am feeling today and I'm a bit nervous about nausea as a side effect, but then I did not want to mess with the 7 day timetable so I have just injected as planned tonight and we shall see how we go in the morning. I really do not think I have felt hungry at any point in the week, so have instead been choosing to eat and what I eat being focussed on protein and vegetables, so that is really good and just a really big change to the usual meal who will eat a packet of 4 croissants, a sharing pack of crisps and a burger and chips before I was focussed on calorie counting. I can't believe how little I knew or understood about what foods had what protein and what calories before.
I would eat all the croissants and turn down the latte because I thought the latte being full of milk was full of calories. What was wrong with me? Even whole milk is really not that high in calories if you're having it in a latte, and does have a good amount of much-needed protein!
Found injecting much easier this time as I knew what I was doing - did it in the other arm.

I started MJ on the very same day as you and everything you have said I can relate to! 😂 I still felt like my hunger was suppressed yesterday but injected as normal to avoid messing up the cycle!

CreakyandSneaky · 18/04/2025 09:46

Just checking in. Great to see everyone's progress!
I did my 2nd jab yesterday, and weighed. I was down 8lbs (sure it's all water) but a good confidence boost. Definitely noticed suppression back up
Went out last night with girlfriends and didn't drink (unheard of!) just didn't fancy it and was quite happy on the fizzy water. Has anyone else noticed they're less interested in alcohol?

Has anyone else just thought they’d be fat all their life? I’m in my thirties with PCOS and have never had control of my weight. I buy myself a new wardrobe in a bigger size pretty much every year to make me feel better. I’m really, really hoping that MJ works for me long term, I’m starting to feel quite positive about my weight and future and haven’t felt like this probably since the age of 7/8. I’m 13 days in, 13 pounds down. I’ve reached the 17’s now so still a long way to go, but I no longer feel in despair and out of control anymore. It’s really improving my mental health (so far). I’m sure many of us on here can relate

GRCP · 18/04/2025 10:21

@CreakyandSneakyyeah I opened a bottle of lager last night and left it after 3 sips. I’m not a big drinker but often have a drink or two while cooking at the weekend.

Hi!
Please may I join? I’m not quite sure how forums work but it would be nice to have some company on this journey as I don’t feel able to tell my family and friends. I have a horrible c-section overhang and generally am way way bigger than I’d like and than is right for me.
Hopefully this is the April 2025 starters?
I’m hoping to lose 10-15kg (ideally 15kg). On day 5 of my first injection. Days 2-4 my appetite was beautifully suppressed. I had never realised how much food noise I was experiencing before. It was still there but the best way to describe it was dull rather than the usual sharp and acute, so it was easily ignored. Yippee. Day 5 and wearing off. Also very tired and sleeping badly but my job (self-employed) is very stressful and financially scary at the mo. But I need to invest in me too.
Weight loss has been impossible since having my baby 3yrs ago. I have hypothyroidism (on levothyroxine but not sure if it does much good!!) and due to allergies (little one’s and mine) am vegan plus eggs. I walk on average 12-25,000 steps per day and have for years, I also do weights 2-3 times a week and swim when I can (single mum so childcare limits it a bit but that’s fine). I don’t binge exactly, but I do snack on toddler leftovers etc and my meals arent huge but I tend to eat the same 2-3 meals on repeat. It helps keep costs down & there’s not much enjoyment cooking an adult meal for one after bedtime. I’ve found it so upsetting to be my size, plus diastasis after delivery, arthritis (that was a surprise) and my boobs (sorry TMI) have always been so huge and I hate it. Praying mounjaro works but I know I have to put in the work too. How is everyone doing?

@Raffles134 well done on the amazing loss in 2 weeks! 🎉 I’m a few days behind you (3rd jab due Tuesday) and like
you, plan to order the 5mg jab and do 8 x 2.5mg jabs from it. Can I ask, did you ask MedExpress to send you more needles with this order? I got 6 with my first pen so have 2 spare, but wondered if they question what you are doing if you ask for more?! 😬
