Question: if you get a tummy bug on MJ are the effects worse because of gastric sluggishness? I.e. the virus or bacteria stay in your gut much longer?

Crikeyalmighty · 18/04/2025 17:37

@Dobbysdad take the batter off and eat about 10 chips - do they know you are using wli? If not I would just say you are ‘watching your weight’ -which is of course true

So first jab today. I’m crap at instructions so DH set it all up for me and injected me as I suddenly felt nervous 😬 interesting that some of you go off booze and wine. I wouldn’t mind that as a side effect. Wine is my down fall 😳

Alcohol is my downfall after stressful work days and I have definitely found it easier to resist. Although the one night I had one glass it did reduce my weight loss as I think I then retained water. Hope it does the same for you!

Im now on day 15 of my period. It’s been the only side effect so I’m grateful in some ways but want it to go now..

Hi all, we've come away for the Easter weekend. My weight in is tomorrow morning with shemed. The plan for supper tonight is fish and chips which I'd never normally have the night before a weigh in. My body holds onto water a lot with salty foods. Now I'm in two minds. I know that in the grand scale of things if I eat fish and chips tonight any water gain will be temporary but it's also my first weigh in and I'm so so eager for the numbers to show well.
So jabbers, what would you do? I've got about 800 cals left today and no food suppression...I'm hungry!

I’d say have the fish and chips if you want them, if the number on the scale is a bit higher because of water retention it doesn’t really matter, we’re presumably all in it for the long run, not for a one off weigh in.

RhaenysRocks · 18/04/2025 18:04

I've been really surprised by my lack of interest in alcohol. Usually I love a glass or three whenever, but right from the first week I just didn't. Went to the pub with old friends with whom I always drink beer and had to be quite insistent. Eventually I caved and got a half but I didn't even finish that. I don't feel like I'm missing out or being "good", I just don't want it. That's the biggest difference I've found with this and I'm only in week 3.

Crikeyalmighty · 18/04/2025 19:07

@Schoolsec I am still drinking 2 glasses on a Friday and Saturday ( one has to have some pleasures) but am just very tight on calories for rest of those days and don’t drink any other day

Mounraine · 18/04/2025 19:19

I agree with the disinterest. It’s like chocolate and biscuits just don’t really exist.

I am having terrible ailments, but not sure if they’re Mounjaro related, or other new ailments and their medications.

Mummytig · 18/04/2025 19:35

I am starting Monday. Tried wegovey before but side effects became too much. Hoping for less issues this time 🤞🏻

NotsosunnyShropshire · 18/04/2025 19:46

I’m not currently feeling as much appetite depression as I was this time last week. Still disinterested and trying to eat more wisely, but feeling more hungry.

On the plus side, I slept around 9 hours last night (woke up once) which is unheard of for me.

Potato1234 · 18/04/2025 20:05

Reeeally struggling since about 2pm, I think the injection has worn off (it’s due tomorrow night). All I can think about are fries and an Easter egg I have hidden away. They would usually repulse or disinterest me when the MJ worked. It’s like a switch!

I was exactly the same yesterday. Kept going back and forth to the kitchen cupboard mooching and I'd not been like that since my jab last week. I'm due my 2nd injection this evening and I did think about giving it earlier today but I chose bedtime on purpose to help me remember as usually I'd be in work on a Friday.

Today willpower has been at play and what I've done is just eat bigger portions of protein and not worried so much about calorie deficit but more on making filling healthy choices to honour my hunger and not end up restricting and then bingeing (which I would have on normal diets before) but it's only knowing I'm doing another jab later that's keeping me focused lol.

I'm glad I'm doing my jab before the Easter weekend so I can avoid going overboard when we're with everyone on Sunday 😂🙈

I think we are twins!!! Could have written this myself. Never thought that I had such obvious food noise but wow, I’m watching tv and day dreaming about food and realise I don’t even know what I’m watching 😆 this is a miracle drug but I do wish it had a longer life span. Will be moving up on the next dose for sure

Schoolsec · 18/04/2025 20:28

Agree there deffo has to be some fun, I just can’t imagine not wanting wine though… 🤞 it would be a welcome side effect for me 😊

Yeah same here with moving up to 5mg after this pen... Although I did ask in the march starts thread if the suppression builds over time and lasts longer when you've been taking it longer OR if it pretty much always tails off and, while everyone's different, the replies suggested it does build up 🤞🏻 hopefully that will happen for us lol

Crikeyalmighty · 18/04/2025 20:51

@Schoolsec I’m far more likely to stick to it to with the odd vino - unlike others I haven’t gone off it but just restrict myself

SausageRoll90 · 18/04/2025 20:58

So side note - found a great high protein snack for picking on. Edemame beans. I got a bag of frozen edemame from Waitrose and for 75g it's 118cals and 10g protein. I've found them great for these more hungry days in the evening or tonight when I was prepping and cooking dinner I just had them on the side to pick on.

I don't follow the cooking instructions because they're already cooked and I like them cold. So I weigh out the 75g (frozen) into a little bowl and then cover them with boiling water. I just wait then as by the time the water is cold you can just drain the water and eat 👍🏻 perfect picky snack.

You can also buy them fresh from M&S! They’re in the sandwich section. I pour chilli flakes over them as I find them a bit bland

Hmm, injection actually hurt a bit today, I wonder why 🤔 also when I primed there was a lot more liquid that came out than the first time I did it (was a single drop on the end of the needle first time). Did I do it wrong the first time, or this time?!

Neither is wrong - it doesn't really matter - priming is just making sure there is medication all the way through the channel of the needle, rather than there being air. So the first time you only pushed out a little bit of medication and the second time you pushed out a bit more, but both will have primed the needle. Sometimes it might be that the pen is a bit easier to push after you have already used it once so you might have just pushed it a bit more this time, or you are more used to used the pen so pushed it more. Likelihood is that the location that you injected it just happened to hurt a little more - perhaps you happened to be a little bit closer to a nerve this time.

big fan also, I get a frozen bag from Sainsbury’s and prepare them exactly the way you do! Nice in a salad too.

Hi all I’ve been missing a bit from here but had a quick flick through, just been busy with a toddler and my neice on Easter holidays.

I’ve just done my 4th jab this evening, I don’t feel like I’ve had a great week last week as was my period week so I had a lot of bloating and water retention but I feel like I’m coming back down to normal now, the scales didn’t particularly budge much for me last week but that also includes no big increases either so that’s ok!! I’m hoping as my body normalises again I will see a little drop on the scale again soon!! But I’m not getting disheartened as i definitely feel like my clothes are getting looser or fitting more comfortably and I feel like I can move around and enjoy movement more than I could before so all positives!!

we took the kids on an Easter hunt the other day, was designed for children but we somehow ended up walking 20,000+ steps haha

TC4 · 19/04/2025 00:29

Oh and this is my overall weight loss on a graph over the month so I can’t complain at all really as all looks positive

Oh god, I am seriously regretting the 2 slices of pizza for dinner!! At the time it felt fine, just enough and tasty (and felt very sensible portion wise as usually I could easily eat a whole pizza!).

woke up at 00:30 and have been stuck in the bathroom since 😭

Mounraine · 19/04/2025 01:44

I also ate (just) two slices of pizza for tea. After being stuck in the loo for hours yesterday with constipation I really hope you’re talking about the opposite problem.
What day did you inject last? I read to avoid fatty foods on day 1 and 2.

CoffeeCakeAndALattePlease · 19/04/2025 01:59

Yes, the opposite problem!
I'm W1 D5.

I love pizza, it’s one of my favourite foods….. not any more!
