I took my first dose today, unpacked the kit, read the instructions and just did it!

The needle is so fine that I didn't really feel it, there was no need to use any force/pressure, no resistance at all. I couldn't feel the solution going in either.

Not sure what others are doing, but this is my plan:
Take my body measurements once a month
Weigh on Thursday mornings at work
Inject on Thursdays when I get home from work - I'm thinking that if hunger suppression wears off after six/seven days, I don't want that to coincide with the weekends. So if I inject on Thursdays, I am distracted by my very busy job, and should then be good for the weekends.

I'm not intending to calorie count; its not something I have ever done and don't want to become obsessed to that level.

TheFunkyDuckling · 17/04/2025 20:55

When do you think I should order my next pen?
I'm dose 3 this weekend, so was going to order after the BH, giving them nearly 2 weeks to get it to me (I'm switching supplier so don't know how long they'll take plus the approval process).
Do you think they'll dispense then as even though I'll have had 3 doses I'll only have been on it 2 weeks x x x

I’ve always found my fitness pal pretty decent 👍

Better day today for me. Have spent the day at home which is usually ‘dangerous’ for me food wise. But actually all I’ve eaten is my protein smoothie at 12:30 (wasn’t hungry until about 12) and a packet of crisps that I shared with 2 of my dc.

Dinner is toad in the hole, mash and broccoli (dp and all dc are very carb loving so really hard to make meals they’ll eat that are low carb). Planning to have a very small portion of mash and lots of broccoli. Need to do shopping tomorrow/saturday so any meal suggestions would be much appreciated 😊

Is there a free version of this app , I’ve tried about 3 and they all want subscription

I've used it on and off for years.
It works more than adequately for calorie counting x x x

I did my second weigh in this morning.. 7lb lost last week and 5lb this week! I'm fully expecting this rate of weight loss to slow down but I'm chuffed at 12lb in the first couple of weeks, it's a good start 😃

I’m taking my 3rd dose tomorrow. I ordered my next jab day after my second dose with a new provider.

Tinkpod · 17/04/2025 21:15

@TheHappyBug same here, w1 D3 and I have felt hungrier today, not had the sulphur burps tho. All my other symptoms such as sore fat/skin have gone completely. Weighed myself tonight, no change on the scales at all… zero movement with any of my measurements.

What kind of food do you and your family like? Do you have any dietary requirements? I make a list of meals and have enough for a month so far. I’m pescatarian and don’t eat dairy, very picky and tend to eat veggie/vegan. My husband will eat anything, but loves meat and cheese, so finding meals for both of us is a challenge, so I have to note down as I go otherwise I’d go blank!

MJafterWLS · 17/04/2025 21:20

Took my third dose a day early today, as off to stay with family tomorrow for the Easter weekend. Lost another pound since Monday, so now down 10lb!

Interested to see if anyone this weekend a) notices any weight loss on me (probably not at this stage) and b) notices a change in my eating… I’ll report back! Really thirsty today so absolutely guzzling down my water and a few cups of tea

TheDutchHouse · 17/04/2025 22:00

I understand you can swap suppliers , but can you change your actual medication. Such as move from Wegovey to MJ ?

You can... but I'm not sure how, as in if you need to break off wegovy for so long before staying mounjaro x x

Thanks for reply 😊

God they’re awkward 😂 I’ll eat pretty much anything other than onions or grapefruit! Dp is also a meat and cheese (and carbs) person, very limited with veg he’ll eat. Dc1 is very very picky about food, but due to their incredible pickiness we’ve now come to an agreement that I make sure some of the weeks meals are their safe foods and if it’s not one of those meals then we have plain chicken and rice available/ramen noodles which they’ll always eat. Dc2 and 3 are younger so have that toddler pickiness, but I always try to feed them whatever we’re having regardless! Dc3 almost exclusively eats meat 😆 and pasta, and isn’t keen on much fruit or veg (likes peppers)!

some examples of meals I often make - pesto pasta, fajitas/tacos/burritos, (various flavouring) chicken and rice, paella, chilli, spaghetti Bol, chicken curry, sausage and mash, salmon and rice/potatoes and green veg, things and chips

fox919 · 17/04/2025 22:11

I do use an app that I ask for meal
suggestions sometimes, and have previously asked for some recipe ideas that are easily modified to become low carb, so for example once when everyone else had tacos I had the mince mix and cheese, but on lettuce leaves instead of taco shells. But it’s hard to think of ideas while trying to cater to the other food preferences!

Chicken fajitas are a favourite here too and I will have lettuce rather than a wrap as well.
Other options I use are cauliflower rice for chilli’s, curries etc (Just for myself, Hubbie and kids would gag 🤣)
And in place of pasta for spaghetti bolognaise I like either carrot or courgette ribbons.
And Swede or sweet potato in place of mash.
Or just avoid the mash and have extra veggies.
I never feel like I’m missing out with these options.

Just to add I don’t make my own cauliflower rice. You can buy it frozen or even in microwaveable pouches so nice & easy!

Just injected my second injection this evening, so have been on Mounjaro 1 week now. Weighed myself today and have lost a ridiculous amount of water weight and am significantly less bloated than one weight okay - I have lost 10lbs (in what I imagine is mostly water weight but hopefully a little bit of fat?) and 2cm in bloat off my waist!
I was still feeling good appetite suppression on Day 7 today, so I was not quite sure about injecting today as planned, as I'd be happy to stay exactly as I am feeling today and I'm a bit nervous about nausea as a side effect, but then I did not want to mess with the 7 day timetable so I have just injected as planned tonight and we shall see how we go in the morning. I really do not think I have felt hungry at any point in the week, so have instead been choosing to eat and what I eat being focussed on protein and vegetables, so that is really good and just a really big change to the usual meal who will eat a packet of 4 croissants, a sharing pack of crisps and a burger and chips before I was focussed on calorie counting. I can't believe how little I knew or understood about what foods had what protein and what calories before.
I would eat all the croissants and turn down the latte because I thought the latte being full of milk was full of calories. What was wrong with me? Even whole milk is really not that high in calories if you're having it in a latte, and does have a good amount of much-needed protein!
Found injecting much easier this time as I knew what I was doing - did it in the other arm.

fox919 · 17/04/2025 23:05

Thanks @Raffles134really great suggestions 😊 I do actually have frozen cauliflower rice as an alternative to normal rice, it’s so easy to make normal rice for everyone else and just a bag of the cauliflower for me 👍 do you know of anywhere’s that sells courgetti spaghetti/the butternut squash one? I’m sure Tesco used to sell them but haven’t seen them for years and I’m too lazy a cook to make it myself!

Very pleased to have had a 27 day menstrual cycle this month! Last few months all 23 or 24 days (prior to this they were around 25), so this is a real bonus! Cramps were still uncomfortable, verging on painful, but not debilitating as they sometimes are ❤️. The only other times my endo symptoms improved, was when I was doing keto, so am attributing to the MJ. I hope this becomes a trend 🤞🤞🤞

Protein and good fat - much better than sugar!! But you weren't alone in worrying about the wrong foodstuff - there has been so much misinformation. It's a really odd feeling, to learn almost everything I ever thought I knew about food, was wrong! But quite a relief in a way.

I don’t sadly. Like you said I know Tesco used to sell it but I haven’t seen it for a long time.
i have a spiralizer and do my own courgetti. Very easy. Carrot I just use a peeler so doesn’t take long.
Buuternut squash/Swede as a mash is a bit more of a faff. Sweet potato is easier. I just microwave it like doing a JP and then scoop it out.

Hi everyone 👋
I would love to join you all for hopefully some moral support.

I started with my first jab of 5mg last Saturday.
I spent my entire life since I was about 13 trying, not always successfully, to lose weight.

I am now 59 with severe osteoarthritis in both my hips, in constant pain and unable to work. I have to use a wheelchair when out and can only walk a very short distance with crutches.

I need both my hips replaced but the surgeon won’t do it as my BMI is too high.
I have to lose at least 2.5 stone for him to even consider it.
After 4 months of negotiations my surgery have agreed to prescribe me Mounjaro.

I have a big appetite and am constantly hungry, even when I’ve eaten a good meal, I’m very much hoping the drug will suppress this.
I have also had terrible diarrhoea for the last 4 days and wonder if other people have had this side effect?

Hi, really sorry to hear this, must be so tough for you. Wishing you the best of luck to get the weight off so you can go on the list for hip replacement x

jabmethin · 18/04/2025 05:12

I overate/ ate the wrong things yesterday and am now up with nausea, dodgy tummy and terrible burps. Lesson learned!
