@Randomusernameforcode I'm a group fitness instructor in my free time, but I don't do a lot, regularly just 2 classes per week, occasionally more. In addition to that, I try to go to gym to lift weights a little bit once per week, and I also have dumbbells and kettlebells at home, so will squeeze in a half an hour whenever I have the time and energy. I go for an occasional run, but I hate running.

Seaitoverthere · 10/04/2025 12:01

@MummyInTheNecropolis that is a tremendous loss so far, a huge well done!
I will need to count calories forever which is fine and I’ve been using Nutracheck for around 8 years on and off and it now just part of my day.

Picked up new meds from hospital and decided I didn’t want to pay for parking but that walking from here a bit too far for today so compromised and parked 15 mins walk away which left enough energy to come back and cut the grass.

millenialmolly · 10/04/2025 12:23

@MummyInTheNecropolisThat’s an incredible weight loss, congrats 🥳 and seems quite a few of us are in the 5”8 club!

Really going to try with the exercise, those of you who don’t go to the gym are you doing strength based stuff at home? I used to love going to spinning and strength/tone classes but have zero motivation to do anything off my own back 😂

HeavyHeidi · 10/04/2025 06:42

Hm, another unexpected side effect - not sure if mj itself or just eating less. I've always had extremely oily skin and greasy hair, have to wash it every single morning, otherwise it looks like I poured a bottle of oil on it. But this morning, it's perfectly fine, not even any dry shampoo needed. Anybody else noticed the same?

Yes! Not all the time but a couple of times in the last month I've gone about 6 days before it felt like it needed a wash!

MJalltheway · 10/04/2025 12:52

I'm tallest I think, at 5'10". Start weight was 15st 12 (101kg) and was squeezed into a size 18. Currently 14st 2 (90kg) and just edging into a 16.
I have big boobs (GG) which never go with weight loss! All my weight goes on my stomach, so I just look permanently pregnant.
Before having a chronic illness and going through menopause, I'd generally be between 11-11.5 stone and be a very comfortable size 14 there.

RosaBaby2 · 10/04/2025 13:05

I just had a nap on the sofa, woke up and ate 600 calories of mini eggs FFS!!

Aimingdown · 10/04/2025 14:41

157cm, SW in mid Jan was 80kg (somehow up from 78 before Christmas).
CW 70kg
GW not sure yet, working in 5kgs so next target is 65. In earlier adult life I was around 55, but I’m pretty sure I’m more muscular now so I’ll take a view nearer 60.

Right now I feel great, still in same sizes (12/14) but everything fits so much better. Jawline is so defined I keep admiring it, everything else is gradually shrinking and I just look much less lumpy. Would really like to lose the bingo wings. I’m quietly horrified that I feel great now but am still a good 10kg overweight - it’s all relative!

discov · 10/04/2025 15:00

Isn’t it funny how we can be the same height and weight but completely different sizes!

I am 5ft 3 and currently 10st 4lbs. I’m in a small size 12 and have been fitting in some 10’s too so not sure if I’m more of a 10 now. I am very hourglass so small waist and bigger hips/arse. My waist is currently 28 and hips 38.

herinthehill · 10/04/2025 15:05

Love catching up on the messages here.

I'm in the just under 5ft 8 club too. I've always been big apart from a few years in my 20s when I lost 4stone through weight watchers. I managed to keep it off for a few years with a very strict regime but it crept back up during stressful periods. Moving house, having kids, lockdown etc.

I've always done a fair bit of exercise so have managed to feel OK in a big body. I have a bad knee though and I'm hoping it will function a bit better with some weight gone.

I liked myself before, but can definitely feel how much easier it is to move.

I've still got a while to go, probably another 3 stone. I'm happy doing it slowly and not depriving myself or giving my body too much of a shock (which I understand can cause gall bladder issues etc). I think my body copes better at a slower pace and I'm hoping it means I maintain things more easily.

So good to hear about everyone's progress so far. It's really motivating.

tinyemmy · 10/04/2025 20:03

I'm 5'1.5 / 156cm I weighed in at 9st 3.2pbs this week and a BMI of 24 1. In my 20s and 30s I thought I was 5'2 or maybe I always rounded up and lied to myself and always had 8st 12 as my goal weight as a middle of BMI (22.5). I tried to get to 8st 7 but wasn't very successful and stayed around 8st 12 to 9st for a number of years. With mj I feel like I can get to any weight I desire so almost even tempted to get to my early 20s weight of 8st 4. I don't know. I'm also hyper aware that I've lost a lot of weight very quickly and I think people will think I've lost too much if I go that low, but then who cares what other people think. I don't know whether I will try and get off of mj but I doubt I can maintain a lower weight on my own... Anyway I'm very short, then benefit of which is that I was able to reduce my BMI quite quickly, but the opposite is also true!

Lovetoridemybicycle · 10/04/2025 21:29

@MJalltheway
Nearly,
I'll give you 5'10.5". (Obviously rounding up to 5'11 for BMI purposes!)
I'm back to a size 24 at 138kg. Been stretching clothes but probably started at a size 26 and 148kg

DGonMJ · 10/04/2025 21:57

I’m 165.5cm or 5ft 5.5 but I round down for BMI.
Started at 79.6kg; BMI 29.2; and a size 16 squeezing into stretchy 14 clothes.
I’m now 65.9kg; BMI 24.2; and probably a 12 top and 14 bottom. Pear shaped so have a short torso with high wide hips.
From late teens through to 30 I couldn’t get into trousers smaller than a 12 because of my hips. Size 10 tops and baby doll dresses.

Interested what size I’d be at 62.5kg. Which is top end of my healthy BMI of 22.96. Possibly still a large 12. I can already feel my hip bones when I lie on my side, can’t imagine getting much smaller. Would be v happy at a size 12.

Polkadotdash · 10/04/2025 22:22

Checking in (belatedly) to the new thread.

I’ve hit a plateau. Feeling very meh about MJ at the moment. Just fed up of reading all these online articles about people who have lost 5 stone in 4 months and I’m still plodding on with my 1 stone loss.
Big family get together is now three weeks away. Panicking about what to wear as my planned dress is still too tight. And got to get through Easter as well. Easter egg chocolate is my absolute favourite. So thin and snappy and tasty. Aaaargh.

Polkadotdash · 10/04/2025 22:42

And as we are doing our vital stats
I’m 5’ 7”
SW 14st 7lbs
CW 13st 6lbs
GW Dunno! Ideally I should be under 11st 9lbs but that feels unachievable at 1lb a bloody week! To be honest, getting under 13st will feel like a party.

At my skinniest I was an 8 stone something teen. When I got married I was 9 stone 6lbs. After babies, lockdown, gynae problems and depression meds, I’ve ballooned. I hate exercise. Hate it. There is nothing I enjoy doing. I don’t like to sweat. I get no endorphins from it. I can’t run. I’ve got massive boobs. No arm muscles and weak hands. I’m a lost cause!!! 😂

Lilausaurusrex · 10/04/2025 23:51

Hi 👋👋 just checking in!

I am 5’8 also! It is so interesting to see all the different sizes of clothes people wear in relation to their height and weight! I have such broad shoulders but small bust and I find tops hard to fit as they always end up loose around my stomach. Currently oversize t- shirts for the win lol

BlueLimes · 11/04/2025 06:17

Sorry you’re feeling down @Polkadotdash
Do you like walking? Could listen to an audiobook?

I’m 5f3. My lowest weight was 8.12 when I was about 18. In 20s was around 11 stone then just fluctuated for years never really getting below 10. I’ve always had a chubby stomach, another apple here, think my waist was around 38, legs always ok. Tummy still large, hoping the next stone might shift it.
SW 12.2 and size 14/16. CW 10.9 and 12/14

So interesting to hear people’s stories.

Seaitoverthere · 11/04/2025 06:46

I am 5ft 6 inches and have struggled with my weight all my life. When I was 21 I got down to 8 stone 10 which had people freaking out that I was too thin. That hugely annoyed me when a friend said it was too low for me as she was the same weight but she said we are different builds and she probably had a point.

My weight gradually went up in a series of diets where I would lose a couple of stone then gain again. 9 years ago I reached 122.7kg and then managed to turn things round and lost 107lbs which stayed off for 2 years and I thought I had cracked it. I needed medication pre hysterectomy to induce menopause and shrink size of uterus and gained 33lbs in 11 weeks then post op took HRT, gained a further 1.5 stone quickly and couldn’t move which later was diagnosed as psoriatic arthritis, had to go private for diagnosis as NHS wouldn’t refer me to rheumatology which I clearly needed. More weight went on as I couldn’t move and needed a hip replacement as it was found I had hip dysplasia.

November 2023 when first seen at current rheumatology department (weight 117.1 kg, BMI 42.5 )rheumatologist wrote to GP to say he thought I might be a candidate for WLIs, GP ignored that .I needed to lose weight and get to BMI 35 for hip replacement so managed to start losing again. I lost 2.5 stone, had hip done last summer then started Mounjaro end of December.

Current loss since Nov 2023 is 25kg with periods of gaining when I started new meds and then having to lose it again and a few months of maintaining after op whilst I recovered. BMI is 32.7, I have 22kg to go and about to start a new medication so am prepared for a gain as generally seems to happen when I start something new but hoping for the best. If I reach goal weight of 70kg by next summer I will be very happy. Think I will be staying on Mounjaro for life.

Zempy · 11/04/2025 07:25

@Polkadotdash it really is tough but you are losing weight. I have been stuck at the same weight for a week now, and I’m bloody furious, but I’m trusting in the process and the scale will move.

Do you feel like you need a higher dosage? What are you on now? Is your suppression good?

I can avoid the Easter chocolate ok but those bastarding hot cross buns are calling me!!!

MJalltheway · 11/04/2025 08:07

Weigh in today
SW 101kg
CW 90.2kg (0.6kg loss this week)
GW 70kg

Lower loss than usual this week, I was really hoping I'd get down into the 80s. We're off on holiday today as well so it'll be a bit of a challenge for the upcoming week! Self catering though (apart from this weekend at my DMs house).

I normally buy ALLL the Easter goodies from Lidl - butter biscuits and marzipan eggs and anything praline! Not bought a single thing this year and have told everyone I don't want any chocolate. In theory I know that an occasional treat is fine, but I find it much easier to totally avoid rather than try and have just one of something.

Grecianrainbow · 11/04/2025 08:08

SW 14st 7.5lb
CW 13st 2.25 lb +1.5 (- 1st 5.25 lb total)
GW 9st 4lb

I’m 5’6 started at probably 18-20 fitting into stretchy leggings and dresses, also feeling the pain of slow losses compared to a stone in a month kind of crew. Now my 18s are feeling loose and needing belts but 16s are still not quite right either. The belly is just too big.

My first week of seeing a gain but I’ve not had a bowel movement for a couple of days so I’m really hoping that it’s just that and it will clear soon.

at my slimmest I was around 10st and a size 12, without DH or DC to look after and loads of free time for the gym! That was through ww though as I was always a bigger child.

MananaPenelope · 11/04/2025 08:45

Morning, really interesting to hear everyone’s journey. I’ve never been overweight, ETA but I am now 😂, it’s all post cancer, chemo, hormone therapy. I was one of those people who would lose too much weight in stressful times. I’m just telling myself to trust the process and keep putting 👣 in front of the other.

I’m still in bed! Not sure I’ll be very productive today, still exhausted. I’ve got a couple of errands to run later, solicitor appt, ultrasound, nothing exciting.

I haven’t weighed myself daily this week, had coffee x 2 in bed this morning courtesy of DC so I won’t weigh this morning. I am really constipated though.

Not sure if this new level of tiredness is just my working week or 3.75mg. Not sure what dose I’ll have on Sunday. I’ve struggled with acid reflux this week. I’ve woken up in a sweat with acid in my mouth. Not sure if the sweat is physiological or because it is like a ghost from chemo past. I’d really struggle with those symptoms increasing and/or vomiting which makes me nervous to increase after the last two doses of 3.75mg.

Enjoy the ☀️ everyone.

Jins · 11/04/2025 09:02

Some wonderful stories here. Much I can relate to!

Week 13 ended and weigh in complete. 1.6lb lost this week which has been a week of ups and downs ending with a mini whoosh. However, as you’ll see from my stats, there’s a tiny bit of frustration.

SW. 11st 5. BMI 28.2
CW. 10st 0. BMI 24.8
GW. 9st 0. BMI 22.3.

So close to being in the 9’s 🤣

in other news Renpho is showing green for all stats except sub-cut fat and metabolic age. I’m just a year older than actual age now though.

Muscle pain from Lazy fit day 3 now resolved and I’m looking forward to today’s workout. I’m definitely subscribing for the year as there are a few 28 day challenges I like the look of.

HeavyHeidi · 11/04/2025 09:14

I got me one of those body composition scales with a handheld part, supposed to be more accurate. Happy to report that fat is going down, but muscle mass % has increased. So all the fearmongerers who keep posting how you'll lose all your muscle: ha!

BraveStarr · 11/04/2025 09:34

Checking-in as a fellow 5”8er!

Love reading everyone’s progress, well done on the fantastic losses.

My weight loss over the past few weeks has been slow but steady, averaging 1kg per week. But happy today to have finally reached the 79.5kg, 4.5kg from my goal weight of 74kg which will take me into the Healthy Weight category. At the start of this journey, it felt impossible!

SW 98.3kg
CW 79.5kg
GW 74kg

I am currently a size 14. Previously size 18 (although, I suspect really a size 20 in denial!)

Jins · 11/04/2025 09:37

My muscle mass has decreased a bit but I can pinpoint it to a dose of flu. It was in the high range originally but now dipped to the top of average and holding. Nothing a couple of miles of swimming won’t sort out and I’m starting to see a hint of muscle in my arms and top of belly this week.

It is feeling like a bit of a slog at the moment. I’m not tempted to go off track but a few ‘treats’ have sneaked in this week because that’s how life is and that’s what naturally slim people navigate all the time. I’m not going to rush to goal, I don’t mind if it’s half a pound per week but the artificial target of under 10st has featured too prominently.

I’m staying on MJ for life or as long as it suits me. The decision has been made and the finances worked out. Perhaps a few years down the line it will be more affordable or maybe it will be licensed for other conditions but I’m not turning my back on the cure for my IBS for the sake of a fiver a day
