New thread for those who started in January 25. 3 months in and we're still going strong 💪

Hm, another unexpected side effect - not sure if mj itself or just eating less. I've always had extremely oily skin and greasy hair, have to wash it every single morning, otherwise it looks like I poured a bottle of oil on it. But this morning, it's perfectly fine, not even any dry shampoo needed. Anybody else noticed the same?

BreezyPeer · 10/04/2025 07:39

I'll be around for a while! Still got a lot to lose
Weigh in day today, lost 2.75 lbs this week.
Starting to feel a bit different. Literally take up less space! Got a monthly in person meeting at work today so my colleagues haven't seen me. I wonder if anyone will comment ( or too polite!)
Good luck to all jabbers and weighers today!

Zempy · 10/04/2025 07:59

@HeavyHeidi yes!

Despite being 59, and despite my Scandi heritage, I still have greasy hair and skin.

I have noticed the past couple of weeks that I can let my hair go three days without washing. Unheard of!

HeavyHeidi · 10/04/2025 08:22

oh @Zempy interesting, not just me then. Skin is also drier but I can just slather on some heavier creams.

Lovetoridemybicycle · 10/04/2025 08:26

I'm a long term plodder, I'll be here for a year or so if not longer, also it's lovely to hear about the success of people, so don't worry about upsetting the long termers!

Randomusernameforcode · 10/04/2025 08:43

Would anyone mind sharing their height along with weight and size please? (Current or goal)
I know we all carry weight so differently but I feel like I'm driving myself a bit crazy by watching a few too many tiktoks where people my height seem to weigh practically nothing! They look great but for me a weight of under 10st doesn't seem realistic or achievable.

Don't know if I'm deluding myself in thinking I will feel as great as I hope to at target.

For context.. I am just under 5'8. My first goal weight of 11st 7 would see me comfortably being a small size 14. Second goal weight of 11st would see me being a size 12.
My strating weight was just under 14 st and i was sqeezing into a size 16. Currently 12st 2 and lots of my old size 14 clothes are starting to fit again, but would admittedly hang better with a bit more loss.

I know in the grand scheme of things it doesn't matter. Comparrison is the theif of joy and all that. Just curious I suppose.

meatyryvita · 10/04/2025 08:45

Disappointed with my first STS this week (week 11 day 1)

SW 15st 10lb
CW 13st 11lbs
GW 9st 10lbs

I’ve eaten well, worked out 3 times this week (cardio and weights), probably not had enough water but stuck to 1200 cals (I use MFP so understand my TDEE, calorie deficit etc.). I hope it’s a blip!

unicornsaremagical · 10/04/2025 08:48

@Randomusernameforcode my start weight was 14.11, goal weight 11, 5ft6. Currently stuck at 11.11 and fitting in size 10. I’m quite happy with where i’m at although it took ages to feel that way, i think i’d look awful being smaller than 11stone but agree many people my height are smaller.

myladyjane · 10/04/2025 08:48

@MananaPenelope I hear you. I left the house at 6.30 yesterday and got back at 11. I have swapped my wfh days as a result today as I didn’t get to sleep til after midnight then woke up at 4.30 to drift off at 6 just when I was due to be getting up.

I have still stuck to my lent exercise challenge just about. Some of my sessions have been short (10 min yoga last night but a day with a lot of walking). I have got to the stage where I miss it if I don’t do it!

UnderandOverwhelmed · 10/04/2025 08:48

@Randomusernameforcode
I'm 164cm (just under 5'5) CW 13st 9lbs and a size 16 i think. GW 10st and hopefully a size 10 again. I think i was an 18 when I started at just shy of 16 stone, but I may have been fooling myself!

I am 160cm (5ft3)

SW: 265lb pushing a 22 but squeezed myself in to my 20 jeans or wore leggings.

CW: 226lb 18/20 - I have lipedema thighs so they're not shrinking as quickly as I would like.

I've lost 5 stone once in the past and it took an awfully long time (about 3 stone) to change dress size, I was always disheartened when others changed after say a 10lb loss.

Randomusernameforcode · 10/04/2025 09:02

@unicornsaremagical

@UnderandOverwhelmed
Thank you. There really is so much variation isn't there.

The smallest I've ever been as an adult was just over 10st. I was a size 10 and people would comment that I was looking too thin!
My BMI healthy range is utterly ridiculous too. I'd look seriously unwell if I was at the bottom of the BMI reccomend weight range.

@RosaBaby2 I hear you on the 10lb thing! For me it's defo much, much more than that to drop a size!

RosaBaby2 · 10/04/2025 09:09

@Randomusernameforcode someone told me that I didn't need to lose any more the other day (I'm still 16st!) I'm going for 10st as my target so another 6 stone and that's the top end of BMI for my height.

DGonMJ · 10/04/2025 09:29

Morning all! Was DS2’s birthday yesterday so I baked a cake after work and ate a small slice. Popped all the ingredients into the recipe section in MyFitnessPal and it was over 400 calories per slice. Was Nigella’s Victoria Sponge, but a buttercream icing instead of whipped cream and jam - by special request from the birthday boy.

So no surprise that I’m back up to 65.9kg today - lots of sugar & carbs consumed, probably not enough water, expecting some sort of inflammatory response.
Dust sheets are off the ground floor and I managed to do my 30min dumbbell session this morning. Put that sugar to good use!

Despite being tantalisingly close to top of goal I expect this last slog of trying to get to the middle of my goal bracket will take a while and to be honest I’m fine with that. I like the accountability and support from this thread. I hope I can hang around when I get to maintenance as I think that will be even more challenging.

HeavyHeidi · 10/04/2025 09:47

I also am wondering what maintenance will be like once I get there. Like all of us, i've lost and gained many kilos many many times..

Jins · 10/04/2025 09:51

@DGonMJ I’ve got a bit of cake related gain this morning. GF chocolate cake, reduced to pence on the shelf of shame. I had a small slice and have definitely had a negative response. I’d like to say lesson learned but cake can be unavoidable on rare occasions.

On height, weight and size I’m just under 5’3”” but obviously use 5’3” for BMI calcs, currently weighing 10.1 which is just under BMI 25 and I don’t fit into standard sizes at all. Bust 41.5, waist 36.5, hip 37 which in M&S would put me in 16/18 in tops and 10 in bottoms as long as they were low slung. It will take another stone for my top and bottom to look more aligned but with my wide shoulders and rib cage I’ll be surprised if I meet the measurements for size 10 in tops at 9 stone.

At least we aren’t talking about sewing pattern sizes which are based on women from another era. In one make I’m size 20 bust, 22 waist and 14 hip.

HeavyHeidi · 10/04/2025 10:06

Vanity sizing is definitely a thing. I have a vintage H&M suit, must be a good 30 years old. It's marked as EUR size 40 and it's smaller than their size 36 nowadays.

millenialmolly · 10/04/2025 10:10

I’m a long term plodder too, expecting I’ll be around at least another year!

I’m 5’8. Highest weight after having my second baby was 19st 12. I’m currently 17st 2 or thereabouts, have lost 21lbs on MJ so far, the rest was painfully slow through diet and took forever- joys of underactive thyroid!

When I got married in 2017 I weighed 11st 7 and wore a size 10 wedding dress. My BMI was around 24 so only just in the ‘normal’ category and I definitely looked very skinny so it just shows BMI is a load of b*llocks!

I’ve been overweight for most of my life really. Lost weight countless times and sometimes managed to maintain it for a few years with exercise and diet but post having kids and approaching my 40s it just seems to have been harder!

I weighed this morning and I’ve more or less stayed the same the past two weeks, so fingers crossed taking my first 7.5mg jab last night will get things moving again.

I’m getting loads of steps in but really would love to do more exercise, the gym isn’t feasible atm but I have some equipment at home. I need a kick up thr bum! Those of you exercising, are you finding it’s helping lots with your results?

HeavyHeidi · 10/04/2025 10:13

@millenialmolly yes I do think exercise has helped me a lot. My scales say I have not lost muscle mass, in fact now most of the fat is gone, my biceps are seriously impressive. 😆Also while I initially got loose skin on stomach and under upper arms, the dreaded bingo wings, that has mostly shrunk back - I'm pretty sure exercise has helped.

Zempy · 10/04/2025 10:24

I am 5 ft 4 and very busty. When I started I was 13 st 7 and wearing a 34H bra and squeezing into size 14 clothes despite being a size 16 all over.

Currently 11 stone 1 and wearing 32GG bra. My 14 clothes fit nicely and I can get into some size 12 jeans and trousers. I would need to be about nine and a half stone to fit a size ten shirt.

At my smallest, in my late twenties, I weighed 8 stone 3 and wore children’s clothes mostly. I didn’t have a period for over a year.

2025istheyeari · 10/04/2025 10:27

Hiya

I’m also 5 foot 8😄. I started at 16 stone 3 1/2 and was an 18 bottom and too ( or so I thought, reality was probably more but I squeezed myself in and wore forgiving drawstring trousers!)
im 13stone 5 now and I’m a 14 bottom ( my Tu jeans are too big so could prob get into a 12 there) and I think prob a 16 top. I have very long legs and a short torso with massive boobs and a big ribcage so even when I get to goal I expect to be a 14 top but a 10 bottom.

last time I was at goal, which was 12 years ago I went below the top of my BMI healthy range by half a sone and looked gaunt and b couldn’t keep it off! I’d love to be 10 13 just to be in the 10s but I’ll see how it goes.

I’ve also been lax with exercise, I’m a too tired and b unmotivated, neither of which are good. Swimming starts next week though which should help me tone up!

DareDevil223 · 10/04/2025 10:33

@Randomusernameforcode I'm 5ft 7, currently 11st (goal 10st 7) and a size 10. I do a lot of weight training, carry a lot of muscle and am an hourglass with a small waist so that might make a difference.

When I was starting it took me at least a couple of stone to drop a dress size as I carry my weight all over so the inch loss seemed so slow. Now I'm lighter every pound seems to make a visible/measurable difference.

Randomusernameforcode · 10/04/2025 10:48

Ah thank you everyone for sharing 😊. I know this is an anonymous forum but it does feel more "real" than social media.

@DareDevil223 I am a classic apple and all my weight is straight down the middle. Face, boob's, stomach.
That rings really true though what you've said about being smaller and each lb making a difference. It's taken me 1st 7 to drop a dress size but it will take much less than that to drop another. (Although still more than I would like!)

Think I need to introduce some exercise to firm up.
@HeavyHeidi I know you do a lot. Is it gym or home based.. did I read you are a PT or have I made that up?

Jins · 10/04/2025 11:00

Lazy fit was a doddle this morning - used all the muscles round arms and shoulders which are my swimming muscles. I found forward arm circles a bit tricky as it was so close to the start of butterfly arm stroke and I automatically did the catch and Y on most of them.

It reminded me how far I have to go to get my swimming back up to scratch. Lane swimming is ok but I end up doing front crawl nearly all the time to fit in with others. I’ll have to hunt around for an open water area to work on backstroke and fly. Or maybe hit the hotel pool early in the day next month.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 10/04/2025 11:10

I have a lot more to lose than most, so will be here at least a couple of years. I’m losing well though and for the first time ever I actually feel like this might be achievable. I’m 5’8 and my starting weight at the beginning of Jan was 24 stone 13. Current weight 20 stone 8. So still a long long way to go, but over 4 stones down and still going strong. I will do this!
