Amazing loss @2025istheyeari
Honestly syringes are easier to do than the pens. I’ve been finding the bonus dose is more than one full dose - but do what’s right for you 😊

Thelittlestranger · 05/05/2025 08:38

Morning!

WI day for me and it's the best loss I've had in months! After weeks of going back and forth on the same number.

I cut out sugar from my tea and coffee, haven't drunk alcohol for two weeks and upped my dose to 7.5mg. That has really helped the most. My average cals were probably too low this week just because it's the first week on a new dose, but my protein was high.

SW: 12st 0.5lbs (76.4kg)
CW: 9st 10 3/4lbs (62kg)
BMI: 26.3

Today I'm going for a run, and I'm going to buy some of those body fat scales you talk about as I want to start switching my mindset to body fat rather than weight.

@0ncemorewithfee1ing I have been using the extra clicks to get the higher dose out of this 5mg pen...

Enjoy the bank holiday those in the UK!

You’re doing so well @2025istheyeari! Enjoy your cold plunge 🥶

Love Bank Holidays! I’m having a coffee in bed, thinking about doing a peloton ride. Then making a moussaka. We’ve got an ikea delivery due today, and a wardrobe to build.

I totted up my calories yesterday and managed to eat 1650 (pancakes for breakfast, salt beef bagel for lunch, roast chicken for dinner), which is very close to maintenance. I could have eaten more, but held off with willpower. I’m wondering if actually 5mg is my maintenance dose - or if having two meals with refined carbs actually stimulates my appetite more.

Thanks everyone, feeling so much better, just a bit sad that I’ve been so overweight for most of my adult life, but hey I’m sorting it now! and then maintenance to contend with, but small steps and I’m determined that this is a lifestyle change!

Ooh, so once you’ve done your 5mg for example you reclick the pen to do a bit more, is that right? Does anybody know whether the pens have a maximum number of clicks before they fail? @BlueLimes kindly told me about the 20 clicks, I may see if I can do 10 so I get an extra 1.25mg I think! I had a fail with the pen last week, the first ‘needle’ I put in didn’t work, weird! Will be interesting to see if all works ok tomorrow! Assume I can use the same needle for the extra clicks? I know I’m massively overthinking this, sorry 🤣.

@Thelittlestranger @DGonMJ @2025istheyeari
I too am happy its a Bank Holiday! And it's sunny here so planning a walk and reading 📚 in the garden after some more of the ongoing DIY! I dreamt about the DIY last night! At least I didn't dream about food 😅
I have reached my interim goal this morning-so happy to see it on the scale- but . . . Weigh day isn't until Thursday so I'll have to wait and see if its still there then.
I use a syringe to get the 5th dose. I watched a YouTube video and it is easy! The hardest bit is the pen is a sort of vacuum so it can quite hard to pull the plunger on the syringe and I have to go it a bit at a time. I've seen a hack about drawing air in first so will try that next time. I'll be starting a new pen on Thursday so I won't be trying it for a few weeks!
Happy Bank Holiday and I hope anyone working today has a good shift!

HeavyHeidi · 05/05/2025 09:10

I've used syringe, it's easy - only thing I had to check is that I didn't plunge it in the skin too deep, the syringes I have are a lot longer than the pen ones.

Feel a bit blah, probably due to too much snacking over the weekend. Back on the wagon today (no bank holiday, we had Thursday off). Spa trip with colleagues in 2 weeks! And the swimsuit arrived, it is indeed super flattering, can recommend! https://www.next.co.uk/style/st450795/e51502

Morning all! Some great work being done on this thread. Ironic when you read the ‘advice’ of the anti-WLI brigade on other threads to see that here there is a very considered approach to food intake coupled with an awful lot of exercise! But WLI = cheating! Pah!

I had such good intentions for today but DS2 is out for the day with his mates and DH and DS1 are DIYing the hell out of DS1’s house to get it fit to move into. I’m yet to get out of bed. Well I did briefly get out to make a coffee but I’m back in it again enjoying the peace and quiet.

MJalltheway · 05/05/2025 10:07

Feeling good this morning, lovely sunny day and a bank holiday! 😎 off for a walk around a lake later.
Scales dropped again this morning so definitely looking like the lack of progress last week was down to water retention in the hot weather. Now lost around 14 kgs. I had to carry a box weighing 12.7kg yesterday, that's flipping heavy! It's so much strain to put on your entire body, we're doing a really good thing for ourselves and our futures ❤️

Laura7010 · 05/05/2025 10:35

Morning all, enjoyed my BH lie in this morning 😁

I had a weight loss whoosh this week with 3.5lbs off, it takes me to a total loss of 30lbs. I have a second interim goal, which I am 2lbs off so hoping to reach that soon. My final aim was to reach 40th lbs off which now doesn’t seem out of reach.

Also had a NSV yesterday when I bought a SIZE 10!!! Pair of work trousers from M&S! My current ones are too big so I went to get a size 12 but they looked stupidly baggy also, I was in shock. It will take some getting used to buying smaller clothes again.

my goal weight is what I weighed in my twenties and I felt great. I’m not sure if I want to go lower, my bmi would still be over weight at gw. I suppose I will see when I get there!

Thelittlestranger · 05/05/2025 10:48

@0ncemorewithfee1ing So, with my 5mg pen I have taken the following by counting clicks and using the same needle:

1 x 5.6mg
1 x 6.5mg
1 x 7.5 mg

Which tells me I only have 0.4mg left plus bonus dose of this pen.

So today is going to be a little complicated as I will need to use the remaining 0.4mg with clicks, plus the bonus dose with a syringe, plus whatever else I need from my next pen to get me to 7.5mg!!

This wasn't planned, I just had a 5mg pen and I should have moved up last time, and I didn't. The maths is doing my head in but it has given me flexibility.

HeavyHeidi · 05/05/2025 10:51

@Thelittlestranger I would finish the entire pen with syringe, easier to calculate. Then you just need to add what's missing from new pen.

MummyInTheNecropolis · 05/05/2025 11:20

Morning all, hope you’re enjoying your bank holiday. I just completed day 1 of couch to 5k. It was so bloody hard but I did it! First time I’ve ever ran in my life, felt like giving up halfway through but I powered on til the end! 💪

Of course I should do that 🤣🤣

Well done @MummyInTheNecropolis

I was thinking here that wow, really getting some side effects today, absolutely freezing cold, haven't had that for a while.
Then my phone helpfully reminded me that temperature dropped from 28 degrees to 10 overnight, which migh have something to do with it.. 🙈

MananaPenelope · 05/05/2025 16:44

Afternoon, very well done @MummyInTheNecropolis that is amazing 🤩. I must get moving more. I might watch some of the Netflix thing on Churchill on my treadmill later if I can fit it in before dinner.

I threw a pen away today, over thirty days but with three or so of my small doses left in it. Never mind. I had six doses from it and was able to use the screw on needles. I was pleased with that as my syringes are longer too. I guess they must just be set to do 240 clicks. I might try 3mg next time, probably six days from now.

I’ve just had to make myself eat something as I realised I hadn’t had anything today. Slice of porchetta, slice of Bavarian smoked cheese, two dates = 209 calories.

Our first Waitrose recipe dinner got a 👎 yesterday. Tonight’s is Middle Eastern beef with salads and a flatbread (in my case a small piece of flatbread)!

MananaPenelope · 05/05/2025 16:45

It is cold @HeavyHeidi, the forecast here is below zero overnight.

Shirtyllama · 05/05/2025 17:31

Has anyone had achy legs? I've not had nausea as a side effect, and have generally felt really well, and am very pleased with weight loss
W17?
Sw 85
CW 73
Gw 63?

I had a touristy city break weekend away in late March where we walked miles and miles - I often walk 10k steps a day, this was more like 20+k a day for 3 days! And my legs felt achy, fair enough.

But for last month I've had really achy sore legs, particularly at night, and today I feel almost fluey with it. It's not intense sharp pain, it's a sort of sour ache but it's really distracting. Ibuprofen helps a bit.
Could be a virus, could be ongoing from my over -walking trip and not related to MJ at all but I wondered if anyone else has had this?

I did wonder whether it was lack of protein or various minerals like magnesium or iron, but I think my diet is pretty good, and I'm not under 1200 calories a day, and I always try to eat some meat, some yoghurt, some nuts, beans etc, and I take an iron supplement anyway.

I have bought some BetterYou magnesium lotion, and actually i have had several baths with epsom salts recently, doesn't seem to help, but I'll keep trying.

Any ideas?

2025istheyeari · 05/05/2025 18:54

It is indeed flipping freezing here! We had our wood burner on last night! Ice bath today was fab but we were very glad of the sauna!!
that’s BRILLIANT @MummyInTheNecropolis what a star!!!
well done on all the weight loss and NSVs, size 10s- whaaaat!!
Love that swimming costume Heavy Heidi, so glad it’s super flattering too!
I’ve not had any leg symptoms @Shirtyllama have you checked whether it’s a known side effect? Are you having enough salt etc too and water? Hope they get better soon.

Have a good week all.

Shirtyllama · 05/05/2025 19:12

@2025istheyeari I wonder if I'm drinking enough water - thanks, I'll try that, definitely can't hurt

LillethCrane · 05/05/2025 19:28

I’ve had a dreadful diet day today- I’ve eaten 1700 cals and I always aim for no more than 1200. I haven’t been able to stop thinking of food. Luckily I’ve eaten relatively good choices, but I’ve ended the day feeling out of control.

Oh, and I caught a glimpse of myself in a shop window earlier and it wasn’t flattering. It’s been a tough, lacking in motivation kind of day.

MJalltheway · 05/05/2025 19:29

Good on you @MummyInTheNecropolis!
I've just been for a gym induction and done a little bit of weight training on my legs. Still bloody hate it though! I will retreat to the comfort of my exercise classes for the rest of the week. Aquarobics tomorrow, bodycombat on Wednesday, Clubbercise Friday.
No leg symptoms here either @Shirtyllama but I agree that it could be down to lack of nutrients if you are not eating enough. Wonder whether it's worth taking a daily multivitamin for a while to see if that helps? I have some 50+ ones that I'm TERRIBLE at remembering to take, so I'm going to dig those out now I've thought of it!

MJalltheway · 05/05/2025 19:31

The thing is @LillethCrane if you were really craving it, you probably needed it. 1700 is a pretty low amount anyway, it might just take you to your TDEE for the day (it'd be way under mine) so no harm done. Chalk it up to one of those things, be kind to yourself and move on with a new day tomorrow ❤️

HeavyHeidi · 05/05/2025 19:31

@LillethCrane it happens, tomorrow will be better! And your reflection must be better than in January?

LillethCrane · 05/05/2025 20:31

Thank you both, I appreciate your replies. Hopefully tomorrow is a better day!

2025istheyeari · 05/05/2025 20:36

@LillethCrane 1700 calories really isn’t bad and the massive plus is you were conscious of WHAT you were eating for 1700 calories so I call that a win!! And I bet if you find a photo from November, you look completely different,
We all have tough days, that’s life and the important thing is you pick yourself up. Tomorrow is a new day, hope it’s better.
