@DGonMJ I set my initial goal at 62 kilos and am now 62.1, so guess that counts.
But I'm not done yet. Want to see if I can get to below 60, which I haven't been since..I don't even remember. Would still perfectly healthy mid-range BMI, not getting anywhere near too skinny, like some people love to tell us.

Chopsticks888 · 02/05/2025 15:52

@Gintime74 I’ve gone way over the 30 days, kept in fridge and used alcohol wipes each time, and of course visually checked pen contents. After chatting about it with a clinically qualified friend I decided I was comfortable with it.

Thank you thats reassuring. I have been trying to research and all i can find is that it may not be as effective but i cant fimd anything to suggest it will do harm.

MananaPenelope · 02/05/2025 16:10

There's loads on reddit about it @Gintime74 .

discov · 02/05/2025 16:25

I booked my maintenance consultation with Oushk way back in march as they are booked up for months in advance. It’s on 5th June and im still 9lbs away from my initial goal and I have recently decided on lowering it by another 7lbs. So I’m not sure if I should cancel it? I’ve STS the past two weeks so can’t imagine I’ll be much further by the 5th June…

MananaPenelope · 02/05/2025 16:43

I'd give them a ring @discov , they'll tell you what you need to do.

tinyemmy · 02/05/2025 17:59

DGonMJ · 02/05/2025 15:19

@TicTac80 congrats on reaching your goal weight 🎉
Is this a thread first or are there others lurking who have also quietly got there?

I think maintenance support varies between the pharmacies. There’s a thread on the WLI board somewhere that collected all the links to different maintenance plans. As @discov mentioned Oushk have various models of maintenance plans you can subscribe to. I’m hoping my next order with them will be a maintenance dose to titrate down from 5 to 2.5mg. I have my video consultation with them in 3 weeks. This is what they say about bmi:
Ideally you should commit to one prescriber when you start or reach a healthy BMI, however we do understand that some patients may already have reached a BMI below 25 and would like to find a maintenance plan which will allow them to continue their journey. Anyone with a BMI of 19-24.9 will be considered on a case to case bases and will need to provide their weight loss history during the consultation process. The final decision will be made by the prescriber.

I'm just over 4lbs away, I have already asked to drop from 5mg to 2.5 and took my first 2.5 on Wednesday this week. I definitely feel like I can eat more. I wouldn't say I had food noise but I was tempted by some pudding when I went out for lunch today. Hopefully I can still lose the 4lbs whilst being on a lower dose!
I'm with SheMed, so not sure what they are going to offer longer term for maintenance

DGonMJ · 02/05/2025 18:09

@tinyemmy have you gone straight from 5 to 2.5mg or did you do a halfway dose between? Are you tracking calories or just eating when hungry and stopping when full?

tinyemmy · 02/05/2025 18:30

DGonMJ · 02/05/2025 18:09

@tinyemmy have you gone straight from 5 to 2.5mg or did you do a halfway dose between? Are you tracking calories or just eating when hungry and stopping when full?

I've gone straight from 5 to 2.5 but I logged it in Dosediary and it looks like it doesn't go straight down. So you can see on the longer running graph that 2.5mg actually goes up to 4 and then on coming down that the 2.5 went up to 5. So it could take a month before it looks more like a normal 2.5 dose. I was a bit worried about coming straight down. If I hadn't been with SheMed I probably would have stayed on 2.5 as it worked for me that first month. I do need to come down though as I have struggled to eat extra and I do want to start to maintain in 4lbs time. I think there will be an element of willpower to it now and knowing what a weight loss day looks like. Now I need to learn what a maintenance day looks like.
I haven't calorie counted but only eaten a light lunch (yoghurt and two hifi bars) followed by a normal dinner and small pudding. When I've calorie counted the odd time my day tends to be between 800 and 1200 calories.
I think with maintenance I might add breakfast back in or make lunch a bit bigger. My main meals were never the problem. It was boredom/stress/loneliness snacks mid afternoon and in the evening and I had a tendency to binge eat which I haven't done ✅ n 4 months!
On my I've struggled to fancy food and I rarely finish food, I'm hoping with a lower dose I can start to enjoy food a little more but still remove the need to binge eat. I think I probably have ADHD / ate for sensory needs which has been removed by using mj so I'm not keen to come off it!

Thanks @tinyemmy that graph is super helpful in showing the amount in your system as you come down from 5mg.
Interesting that you preferred 2.5mg. I’ve quite liked 5mg, I’ve had days where I really enjoy food but enough suppression to stop me getting hangry. I’ve been able to eat 3 meals a day on 5 eg eggs for breakfast; chicken, veg, rice bowl for lunch; plus a normal dinner. I expect I’ll be able to eat more afternoon chocolate treats on 2.5!

DGonMJ · 02/05/2025 19:05

One for this thread as I’m cautious to post it elsewhere and attract a load of Friday night flaming…I have a friend who has been prescribed microdoses of MJ. 2 x single dose syringes of 0.5mg and 2 x single dose syringes of 1mg. It’s from a legitimate aesthetics clinic so they do lots of other weightloss treatments as well as cosmetic aesthetic procedures. But unlike the other online pharmacies I couldn’t find their registered pharmacy details on their website.
I’m supportive of my friend using MJ, and I was delighted to hear that microdosing is now legally available. But wondered why they didn’t need to be registered as a pharmacist to prescribe. They do have doctors on site so perhaps they’re prescribing it as a peptide? It’s not labelled MJ, and doesn’t have Eli Lilly packaging. Should I tell her to do a bit more digging on the legitimacy of this, or have any you heard of microdosing being cleared in the UK. I know doctors and endocrinologists do this in the US (according to the podcasts I’ve listened to).

I'm not sure how I feel about being ably to eat more afternoon snacks. I'm almost scared of the hunger I've felt today. I don't want to go back to where I was. I think I will start with having a bigger lunch and maybe a snack size breakfast. I will probably calorie count for a bit.

On your other post I would definitely query it. She should make sure it is prescribed for her and that it has proper packaging. It doesn't feel right to me.

MananaPenelope · 02/05/2025 19:46

I don’t think I’d encourage your friend @DGonMJ but what do I know? Not much!

I’ve struggled to eat today, I bought a couple of hot chicken thighs from a deli at lunchtime, walked home and made a salad. First forkful of chicken was ok, second forkful didn’t seem cooked properly and so I binned the lot. I also bought prepped chicken breasts for dinner (same shop) to have with some gastro greens. Didn’t like that or the greens, just the usual prepped M&S stuff with herb butter you just microwave - perfect on a Friday eve. Must be me as I usually love the greens.

MananaPenelope · 02/05/2025 19:47

@DGonMJ I think I’d worry about expiry dates and or within the 30 days if I couldn’t see a label. Can’t articulate any other reason for not liking the idea.

I was supportive when I thought it was legal, but then she sent me a pic of the syringes and it’s not like the single dose vials I’ve seen on Reddit that they get in the US. They look like the ones I’ve ordered off uk-medi.

IdentityCrisis101 · 02/05/2025 21:18

These companies are acting illegally, so your friend may be better seeking advice from a HCP rather than a beautician etc.

@DGonMJ Your friend should def be cautious and look into this? How can an aesthetics clinic prescribe mj if they are not licensed as healthcare providers? And the fact that the syringes are not labelled with the drug and pharma name makes alarm bells go off ….

Thanks all, I’ve told her to check their credentials, and ask them again about the shelf life of the syringes they’ve sent her. It’s a private aesthetic healthcare practise with registered doctors and nurses. They do hormone therapy, hair treatments, IV vitamin drips…all sorts of different weightloss treatments. But prescribed microdosing is news to me. Amazing if it’s genuinely approved. I bloody hope so for her sake.

MananaPenelope · 03/05/2025 07:32

Yes, I guess she doesn’t actually know what’s in the syringes either does she @DGonMJ . I’m fairly risk averse, great if this is the development someone needs in their life, but I’d want it in proper sealed and dated syringes from the manufacturer.

Weight loss is a weird thing isn’t it (well for me anyway). Whatever caused my weight gain has disappeared overnight and I’m back at 93.4, that’s 1.5kg gone overnight. I think the heat must have been a big factor. Now I just need to see that figure move downwards as it hasn’t really moved for two weeks. 😩

HeavyHeidi · 03/05/2025 07:58

There was a very interesting article posted on another thread. Afain stresses that people struggling with obesity are not just lazy greedy gluttons.
https://www.statnews.com/2021/09/13/how-a-fatally-tragically-flawed-paradigm-has-derailed-the-science-of-obesity/

Positive energy balance — more calories consumed than expended — is a description of what happens when people gain weight. Consider using the identical logic to describe, say, why people get wealthy. Economists would (I hope) be embarrassed by a money-balance theory of wealth: People get rich because they take in more money than they spend. Clearly wealthy people did. We know that because they’re wealthy. The increase in wealth is the positive money balance. But this says nothing about how or why they accumulate such wealth.
“To attribute obesity to ‘overeating’ is as meaningful as to account for alcoholism by ascribing it to ‘overdrinking.'”

How a 'fatally, tragically flawed' paradigm has derailed the science of obesity

Watching researchers in the field of obesity almost blindly follow a failed paradigm has led me to cross a line that few journalists ever do, to publicly embrace and promote a minority opinion that many in the obesity field think is quackery.

I posted on that thread @HeavyHeidi then thought what a waste of my time and deleted the thread from my view. Largely a thread full of judgy swines.

2025istheyeari · 03/05/2025 08:08

Morning fellow losers!
Hope your night out was good @JoanCollinsDiva.

Agree with what others said re your friend @DGonMJ glad you mentioned it, hopefully all above board but def worth a check especially as they’ve cracked down recently.

Massive congratulations to @HeavyHeidi and @TicTac80 on reaching goal, that’s amazing news🎉🎉🎉.

I’ve got a few stressful weeks ahead, ds GCSEs and redundancy looming at work, I’m kind of ok with the redundancy, have been part of engineering it as went in and set up a new department and now BAU but feeling a little unsettled. My son is at grammar school and wants to stay, so pressure on to get good grades. He should be fine, but I’m worried about him not burning out and what happens if, we have a plan b but I’m a natural worrier. I’m not sleeping well so clearly something on my mind. In the past this was when I would have eaten/ turned to alcohol as my crutch so thankful for MJ, and trying to get outside, do exercise and eat well.

have a fab bank holiday weekend everyone!

HeavyHeidi · 03/05/2025 08:14

I know @MananaPenelope
The usual nuggets of wisdom. No thank you, I don't need cooking classes and being advised to eat less and move more.

Thelittlestranger · 03/05/2025 08:30

@HeavyHeidi the stress seems to be just this week. I'll see how it goes.

@DGonMJ the podcast shared recently talked about the microdosing trend and how these providers are not using the proper approved drugs. This might not be the case for your friend - but deffo worth looking into.

@2025istheyeari here's hoping the MJ gives us all new coping techniques for when stress hits.

For the other thread, which I haven't seen - that podcast also talked about there being 5 factors that lead to obesity and only one of those is within our control. The rest is genetics, environment, lifestyle and one other I forget. Really worth a listen.

HeavyHeidi · 03/05/2025 08:48

@2025istheyeari thank you! I'm not done yet though, I simply didn't think I'll ever get to the GW.
Somehow, the weight has gone off from various body parts at very different rate. Stomach went first. Then boobs - like pancakes. Arms - looking good and not like Christmas hams any more. But barely lost a few cm from thighs.
However, just the last few days I can see that the fat loss has finally reached my thighs, the fat layer is a lot softer and wobblier, but I can sort of see some muscle definition below. So I want to try to get a few more kilos off, to finally be proud to show my legs off.

Jins · 03/05/2025 08:50

Morning all. Recovering from a reasonably strenuous walk yesterday and my knees are feeling fragile. I discovered why nobody seemed to have noticed my weight loss in DHs pics though - It doesn’t look as if there’s been any! He takes shocking photos though, I did think about asking him to do my photo for my first prescription but I didn’t want that out there in the world.

It’s encouraging to hear that there’s some common sense being talked about obesity but it’s not going to change the long held contempt of lazy fatties any time soon
