New thread for those who started in January 25. 3 months in and we're still going strong 💪

I’m sorry to hear the sad news about loved ones passing. It really puts life in perspective. Whether it was a life lived to its fullest or one cut short - it’s a reminder to make the most of our own lives, we only have this one.

Jins · 02/05/2025 09:07

Morning all. Sorry to hear of another loss of a loved one. 💐to all those affected.

Week 16 complete with a 1.8lb loss

SW - 11st 5. BMI 28.2
CW - 9st 10.2. BMI 24.1
GW - 9st. BMI 22.3

Mum’s advice from beyond the grave was spot on. Milk of magnesia seemed to soothe things nicely, untrapped some wind 🙈 and had a mild osmotic laxative effect. Cheers Mum - miss you

Thelittlestranger · 02/05/2025 09:31

@DGonMJ nice exercise plan. I started introducing more yoga about 3 weeks ago on recommendation from my physio. Love doing it in the morning and my husband and I have start following 30 days with Adrienne - on YouTube. The Flow version from last year. On my 'heavy weights at the gym day' this week I got overexcited and decided to push it on the deadlift. Seem to have exacerbated my tennis elbow because of it 😢 Hoping it will settle down again.

Feels like a few of us are having some slower weeks. It's the tough part, but what doesn't show on the scale is still happening.

I finally decided to cut out my one sugar from my teas and coffees this week. Really hasn't been that bad!

Oh yeah, and I wanted to add.

Has anyone else got a Garmin watch? My body battery since increasing my dose this week and eating less is so low - and I'm showing more signs of stress. I remember this happening when I first started, but it seemed to improve. Anyone else found this. Pic attached from two nights after I'd taken the jab (it was the same the night before too)

Stress levels while sleeping (unusual unless you are processing alcohol - I haven't drunk in a week) and your body battery is supposed to recharge while you sleep. Not flatline.

Exactly the same here - I've been a lot hungrier this week and have eaten chocolate and crisps when before this they haven't even entered my mind. I attacked a leftover Easter egg last night. Weird!

Week 14 I think for me, I've just weighed and I'm very surprised to have lost another 2lbs. Really didn't feel like I'd lost anything and have felt very sluggish and quite hungry this week so I'm really pleased.

SW: 13.6
CW: 10.10
GW: 10.6

I shall be using that emoji 😖 more often now I know what it means thanks mananapenelope I am often finding things a confounded nuisance as I get older. Including going out tonight - I was about to text with an excuse when friend messaged me to say how happy she was that im going 🙈 how could I then let her down? So we're going to the beach tomorrow morning instead which at least will give me an excuse for not drinking! I'd better go shave my legs and armpits and all that kind of stuff...eurgh😖

At least I can fit into my dressy stuff now 💪

Im just impressed and scared by the words "push it on the deadlift" 😂 hope your elbow gets better.

Jins
I think I remember my mum giving me that years ago - is it kind of chalky? Mums usually always know best and sometimes the old remedies are much better than the modern equivalent. I still quaff my peppermint tea when I have wind and it usually does the trick. Dd messaged me a few weeks back saying she was "dying" with stomach pain and I said first and foremost to try peppermint tea. She sent her bf out for some and then texted a while later saying she'd done a big trump and now felt great 😂 I got second hand satisfaction.

Can I please ask if anyone knows about levels of MJ in the blood? I went up to 10mg on Sunday night and expected an immediate effect. As it is, by yesterday I was ravenous. Does that mean that 10mg is not going to work for me or is there a cumulative effect that might kick in? Fingers crossed

Thelittlestranger · 02/05/2025 11:12

@0ncemorewithfee1ing it continues to build in your system. Usually takes around a day and a half to peak, and then slowly goes down. But each injection makes it go a little higher.

My graph from shotsy...

Thank you. There is still hope then!

There’s an article in the Times today about the prospect of high street pharmacies giving free MJ et al to overweight people. I made the mistake of reading the comments which are vicious and really depressing.

TicTac80 · 02/05/2025 11:45

Hi all!

CW: 57.7kg, BMI 21.2, fat 28.8%, sub cut fat 27%, water 48.9%

I don't know what week I'm on!

I've got a bit of a problem...unsure if anyone can help/point me in the right direction. I went to order another pen from Zava (for maintenance dose) and they wouldn't allow it. I telephoned them and spoke to a guy (not a doctor/HCP to be fair) and he just kept saying that my BMI was too low. I kept explaining that I was looking for a maintenance dose and NOT to lose more weight but he wouldn't budge. Any ideas? Seeing that even for normal white British/European people, an average healthy BMI range is, what, 18.5 to 25(?), then I'm not sure as to why they won't allow maintenance doses! Does anyone think it would be possible to switch to a different provider for the maintenance doses? I'll give them another call in a sec and try to speak to a medic to get proper clarification about this.

I'll do my injection this evening as I think it works better than a morning dose.

Thelittlestranger · 02/05/2025 11:53

What's your end goal @TicTac80 ?

Oushk offers maintenance plans, might be worth going there

Gintime74 · 02/05/2025 11:55

Morning, i took a break after feeling awful on 7.5, last week took 5mg (40 clicks of the pen and will do the same this week but then the 30 days will be up. Has anyone used the dose past 30 days? Potentially i could still get another 2 weeks out of the pen so it feels such a waste.

MananaPenelope · 02/05/2025 12:51

Not yet @Gintime74 but I’m going to. I started a 5mg pen on 31/3 and I too had a break and have dropped back to 2.5. I’m going to take my next 2.5mg dose from it before I bin it. That’ll be day 35. There will technically be another 3 x 2.5mg in the pen but I’ll probably leave it there at day 35.

TicTac80 · 02/05/2025 12:58

I think I'm pretty much at my goal. I was looking at a weight between 55kg and 60kg, which is where I am currently. I'm about halfway through my 10mg pen at the moment (which is why I was looking at my next pen being a maintenance one), so thought it prudent to get the order in now, so that it's on time.

It IS normal to go onto a maintenance regime, isn't it? The guy I spoke to just couldn't seem to get that. I'll speak to the docs (hopefully!) at Zava and then see what happens.

discov · 02/05/2025 13:03

I think some providers (such as Ouskh) are very progressive with their approach to maintenance, and others not so much, which is a shame really. I don’t believe it should be a hard cut off once you hit a certain BMI - surely that’s just setting most people up to fail!

Jins · 02/05/2025 13:41

@JoanCollinsDiva - that’s the stuff. White chalky looking stuff with a minty metallic taste. Our medicine cabinet at home had milk of magnesia, Andrew’s liver salts and the pink germolene ointment in a tin. You could cure anything with that lot and I still miss proper germolene

Edited

I have a Fitbit which does the same sort of thing - it gives you a readiness score each day which is calculated based on your sleep, heart rate variability etc.
I hadn't noticed it before but went to check and there's a definite pattern for me too, readiness drops the two days after the jab. It's a temporary thing for a couple of days (for me) and not a big drop, but it does appear to be pretty regular. I don't particularly notice eating less straight after the jab, but I have been on 7.5mg for 6 weeks now I think?

HeavyHeidi · 02/05/2025 14:15

@Thelittlestranger odd, I posted a comment but has gone missing somehow.
Yes you seem to have a lot of stress. I went from 3 to 4mg yesterday but seems fine

I went to local TK Maxx and clearly I have not gotten used to my current size. All clothes I picked up for trying, but thought they will probably be too small - they were too big.

Reminded me of a shopping trip late last year, when I was going to shops I often used, picking up clothes in 'my size' and everything was for some reason too small. Reason of course being that I didn't try things in my size, but the size I imagined I was.

I much preferred it this time around :D Didn't end up buying anything, but honestly I have enough to wear at the moment anyway.

DareDevil223 · 02/05/2025 15:10

Hi everyone

Good lower body weights session today did 90kg hip thrusts for 6 reps. So weird that's now over 20kg more than I weigh.

I also went for a good walk around town to get my steps in and had my monthly hour long massage. I'm feeling quite sleepy now!

Weather is lovely here and trotting around in a vest top and wide leg linen trousers instead of covering up is not going to get old any time soon.

I do yoga four or five times a week for around 30 minutes a time. It really helps with stress reduction and keeping everything mobile and working which is so important when you get older. I've been doing yoga on and off for years. I have a subscription to Bad Yogi Studio online, run by Erin Motz. She's not at all woo and very into functional mobility. There's Pilates on there as well. I really rate her and love her style of teaching so I don't mind paying for it (about £9/10 a month so not excessive).

She has free stuff on YouTube if you want to check her out. I couldn't get on with Adriene.

@TicTac80 congrats on reaching your goal weight 🎉
Is this a thread first or are there others lurking who have also quietly got there?

I think maintenance support varies between the pharmacies. There’s a thread on the WLI board somewhere that collected all the links to different maintenance plans. As @discov mentioned Oushk have various models of maintenance plans you can subscribe to. I’m hoping my next order with them will be a maintenance dose to titrate down from 5 to 2.5mg. I have my video consultation with them in 3 weeks. This is what they say about bmi:
Ideally you should commit to one prescriber when you start or reach a healthy BMI, however we do understand that some patients may already have reached a BMI below 25 and would like to find a maintenance plan which will allow them to continue their journey. Anyone with a BMI of 19-24.9 will be considered on a case to case bases and will need to provide their weight loss history during the consultation process. The final decision will be made by the prescriber.

I know a few people who have gone to 35 days use having kept pen in the fridge the whole time. I might keep mine in the fridge after first use now it’s getting warmer.

Twiceasnice25 · 02/05/2025 15:26

A word of warning

Don't switch to Numan! I did a week ago, took them a week to approve photos and then they said they were out of stock of pen I needed, no answer from customer services
They said same strength pen probably just as good

Useless and no way to contact them online as they don't answer

Chopsticks888 · 02/05/2025 15:52

@Gintime74 I’ve gone way over the 30 days, kept in fridge and used alcohol wipes each time, and of course visually checked pen contents. After chatting about it with a clinically qualified friend I decided I was comfortable with it.
