Can I ask what people are saying when asked how they are losing the weight? I have been asked 5 times now in the last week. I have not mentioned MJ. Only mum/DH/siblings know I am on it. DSis was previously on ozempic so no judgement from them. I just can't be bothered with opinions, one person asked directly if i was on WLI? I don't know them that well and found the question quite intrusive....I say I am eating less and moving more. Hive thoughts on this appreciated X

Fasting (true), shit loads of exercise (true) and being really bloody hungry (not true but it’s part of my tactic to deceive them 😜).

HeavyHeidi · 23/04/2025 16:03

I've told a couple of close friends. But yes a lot of colleagues and acquaintances have started asking, and I do not need the entire company gossiping. So in that case, I will show you my food tracking app (Foodvisor, it's actually quite fun) and lament how we middle aged women really cannot eat that much any more.

I’ve had three people ask and I’ve said fewer than 1200 calories a day, prioritising protein and veg, limiting sugar and drinking at least 3-4 litres water a day. All of that is true so I’m not technically lying! I wouldn’t disclose other meds I took to these people so I’m not sure this is their business…

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 23/04/2025 16:35

Well, that’s a silver lining at losing in barely visible increments! I don’t think anyone will ask me how (if?) I am losing weight!

It’s completely true to say you’ve drastically cut the quantity of food you eat - you don’t need to say that this is more do-able with MJ.

I feel strongly that MJ is just levelling the playing field, as it were. You’ve worked hard at this and your achievements are your own.

Plus, it’s bloody nosey!

HeavyHeidi · 23/04/2025 16:39

that's what occasionally enrages me, all the 'but it's cheating!'

No, it's levelling the playing field. Now it's as easy or as difficult for me to lose weight as it has always been for you, Linda. Who has really been cheating here?

Yeah Linda

Zempy · 23/04/2025 17:08

I tell everyone but I haven’t been Linda’d to my face yet.

I don’t really care what anyone thinks or says tbh. One of the few benefits of being old.

2025istheyeari · 23/04/2025 17:58

Hi all

I’ve only told my dh and my mum. To everyone else I say fasting and calorie counting plus high protein, low sugar and no alcohol, all of which is true. None of anyone else’s business and drives me mad that Linda is so nosey!!

@Thelittlestranger I’m the same, I’m desperate to get to goal now as a bit bored with limited calories. I’ve just finished my second 7.5mg pen and the suppression is def wearing off, and like @Jins the creme eggs are calling me 🫣, but Oushkk suggested I stay on this dose because of my stomach probs a few weeks ago so stay I will!
I think I need to mix things up a bit though, does anybody have any good high protein lunch recipes please? Am off eggs atm and struggling to think of ideas! I eat meat and fish, but prob less red meat!! Thank you!

MananaPenelope · 23/04/2025 18:20

Hi everyone, must catch up later, home early enough to take DC out driving 😬, I’m not a natural 🤣, but I did it for no1 so I must endure it for no2!

I’ve started taking movicol - nil progress so far.

MJ side effects have completely disappeared, appetite just the same as on 2.5mg. 1000-1200 max cals a day.

I think I’ll start again when movicol has done its trick🪄.

BlueLimes · 23/04/2025 19:33

I flipping love creme eggs.

I’ve only told DH, know too many judgy people and I think I was quite convenient as the chubby mate/ sister.

@2025istheyeari i chop up a chicken breast and have with half a pot of soup. Or roll a slice of cheese with ham and cherry tomatoes on the middle. If I’m feeling crazy I put a spicy pepper in.
Could you tolerate smoked salmon egg muffins? You can’t really taste the egg.

Thanks @BlueLimes love your crazy pepper hack 🤣
possibly to egg muffin but I’d rather have smoked salmon with salad I think! Maybe I need to get over the egg thing and have smoked salmon and scrambled egg, think I overdid eggs a bit but need to try again!

myladyjane · 23/04/2025 19:48

@2025istheyeari is it the taste or the impact of the egg? It’s a major sulphur burp trigger for me in any form tbh (although less impact if it’s beaten - so scrambled is better than boiled). It’s a bit of a pain in the butt as I am a pescatarian and find easy snack protein hard to source. If I am out and about and feeling flush I may get the M&S prawn and sweet chilli snack packs. Also apparently the Pret skinny latte I had today to keep me going was 9g of protein. But to be honest I mainline babybels - 3 babybels is over 15g of protein and 160 cals.

0ncemorewithfee1ing · 23/04/2025 20:26

M&S do these ‘crisps’ which are kind of air fried Serrano ham. 99cals and 16g of protein. That and a can of V8 is pretty much my lunch al desko. NB they don’t smell that great but they are really tasty. And they do other meats like chorizo but the Serrano ham ones are lowest cals.

DGonMJ · 23/04/2025 20:26

Hello losers - it’s been a long old day and only just heading back from work. I have some lower back sensitivity which is making me think ‘kidneys’ as it’s not muscular, more skin sensitivity. Maybe I’m not drinking enough water today. Or maybe I have chronic kidney disease. Where’s that book of hypochondria?

I found some of those mini Lindt bunnies on my desk that someone must’ve left me and mindlessly ate one of those today - like it was 2024 and I was DGonLindtChocBunnies. It then gave me a small tummy ache. Must be the kidney disease.

@2025istheyeari i shamelessly use chatGPT to help me plan high protein evening meals that can be packed for lunch the next day.

My new spare time waster addiction is browsing Whistles clothes in a size 12 on Vinted. But can’t quite bring myself to order something I still might not fit into, especially as I’m still only just comfortably fitting into the small 14s in my wardrobe. When I measure my waist it’s 76cm which is 30”. But my Levi’s curve jeans from 12 years ago are a 32 waist and fit perfectly. And then my Whistles high waisted wide leg jeans bought 7 months ago are also a 32 and won’t stay up. I haven’t measured my hips but have a feeling my they are still a 14. I think I do need to go into a store and try stuff on first.

Thelittlestranger · 23/04/2025 20:27

@2025istheyeari My favourite lunches currently consist of 1 piece toasted sourdough with either a poached egg and smoked salmon, tuna mayo and salad, chicken and salad or prawn and salad on it. Had an omelette today and a few salads last week.

I've started taking collagen in my coffee which has so much protein in it, it's like having flavoured protein powder, without the flavour. I haven't been able to stomach standard protein powder since I had it right at the very start when I didn't want to eat much.

And I'm not telling anyone else I'm on WI. I've had too many shocked faces and the feeling of being judged. This is my journey thank you very much - keep your sour bum face to yourself

I've been listening to this podcast episode. It's really interesting and informative. It's worth a listen, it'd be great if some of the "eat less and move more, WLI are cheating" twats on MN could learn from it but they won't!

Hello! I’ve not been able to find this thread for a few weeks! Think I posted somewhere completely differently!
so glad I found you all again! I’ll have to do a thorough read through tomorrow.
I started on 20 Jan / current weight 9st 5lb / started at 12 ish st. It’s such a miracle drug! Although the weight loss has slowed right down but then that’s expected I think as there’s less to loose now.

BlueLimes · 23/04/2025 22:24

@Upperroom that's amazing. We started at the same time but you’ve lost a lot more than me - are you super strict?

BlueLimes · 23/04/2025 22:25

@2025istheyeari can you link the collagen please?

Upperroom · 23/04/2025 22:42

BlueLimes · 23/04/2025 22:24

I think maybe it’s because I’m not a particularly unhealthy eater but I would emotionally binge eat… so chocolate every night, wine and crisps some times 5 days a week! I feel free of that food noise but also the emotional aspect. 7.5 really cut out the wine noise too… i just can’t physically eat much. I’m probably not eating enough. I’m starting to wonder about going down to fortnightly injections.. but I’m literally praying if I do come off it completely (it is expensive) that those old habits have gone and I’m content without using food as this treat or perhaps sensory pleasure?! Does that make sense?!
wish I could transfer some of my tummy weight to my now
tiny bottom! 😳

Upperroom · 23/04/2025 22:43

BlueLimes · 23/04/2025 22:25

@2025istheyeari can you link the collagen please?

I’ve also been on the collagen band wagon - it’s good protein isn’t it?! I bought the nutrition geeks collagen glow up powder and have it in coffee.

HeavyHeidi · 24/04/2025 05:49

Only lost 300 gr this week. But on the other hand, if I can eat like I have the past couple of weeks, and still lose, that works very nicely.
But have to be more strict next week, really want to get to my original goal soon. And then maybe my secret dream goal. And then the ultimate, that will surely never happen, goal.

2025istheyeari · 24/04/2025 06:43

Ooh thanks al! @myladyjane i think it’s because on f800 and at the beginning of my MJ journey, i ate a lot of eggs! I need to get over myself and have them a couple of times a week as like you say, they’re a great source of protein. The prawn and chilli pot sounds amazing, I may have to do an Ocado order and grab one of those plus the Serrano crisps recommended by oncemorewithfeeling.

@DGonMJ hope your pains have gone. ChatGPT is a fab idea, will steal that and look this morning!

@Thelittlestranger love the sourdough ideas, thanks! I think Blue Lines may have been asking you for the collagen info, I’m also interested, I’ve noticed that I’ve got a lot of flabby skin so as well as exercise I def need to up my protein. Can you taste the powder of the nutrition geeks powder?

@DareDevil223 thanks for the podcast link, I’ve listened to the first section and on my list for this morning, so interesting so far ‘obesity is a disease’, can’t wait to hear more!

@Upperroom 👏👏, you must feel amazing !
@HeavyHeidi 👏too, a loss is a loss and you’re doing brilliantly!

BlueLimes · 24/04/2025 06:58

Thanks @2025istheyeari i did mean to ask @Thelittlestranger about collagen.

@Upperroom you’ve done so well and hopefully you’ve formed new habits 🤞

@HeavyHeidi a loss is great over Easter?

Thanks for the link @DareDevil223 will listen later. Hope you feel better @DGonMJ

I think I’m the opposite to a super responder. Which is obviously marvellous.
I think I’m going to stick to 10mg and try to have better will power. I’m still very snacky. I guess the fact I still have food noise might be easier for when I do stop - trying to think of a silver lining for my slower than tortoise pace. Is anything slower than a tortoise - maybe a sloth- fabulous.

On train to work and people next to me are talking loudly- it’s driving me mad. Not the done thing at all !!

MJalltheway · 24/04/2025 07:32

Morning all! 13kg down today but not counted until official weigh day tomorrow.
Noone has mentioned weight loss to me apart from DH so haven't needed to say anything yet. However, I have radically overhauled my diet anyway, started IF, cut out almost all UPFs, only snack on fruit and nuts, cut carbs, upped protein, stopped eating white bread/white pasta and switched to wholemeal. I've also increased exercise from nothing to 4/5 times a week. I've been upfront about all of that so it would be more surprising if I hadn't lost weight I think!
I seem to have been very lucky in not having hit a plateau yet, the losses have been very steady and in fact have increased from a regular 0.8kg loss a week on 5mg up to around 1kg a week on 7.5mg.
@BlueLimes hope they shut up soon, it's adding insult to injury having to be on a train so early for work and then having to listen to loud people!
