Wishing you a speedy recovery @cloudjumper and great work on your bmi.

MananaPenelope · 20/04/2025 07:18

It’s so variable isn’t it @HeavyHeidi , attitude, experience, personality and a host of other human factors.

I’m still feeling rubbish, so rubbish that I’m going to take a break from MJ next week, see how I feel and if I decide to try again go back to 2.5mg.

Five days on from my injection I feel sick, hot flushes, slightly raised temp intermittently, lots (but not absolutely 100% constant) of stomach pain, largely left side, lower and upper. Feels like cross between adenomyosis pain and constipation, which can go above my waistline, but the potential side effects mean I’m not sure if I want to risk it. I only managed about 600 calories yesterday.

Planning on having a piece of toast and going back to bed once DC has gone to work.

Happy Easter 🐣 everyone.

myladyjane · 20/04/2025 07:23

oh chaps I’ve proper broken myself. My back is agony after getting so much better and the pain is putting me off decent food. I ate shite again yesterday (not much of it, well in my calories) but the half a white creme egg has not sat well and I woke up at 6 with the most horrific heart burn and sulphur burps and bubbly stomach. The kids left the house in a right shit tip after all my tidying and I can’t bend to pick stuff up or put a wash on. I am meant to be cooking and I know my mother will ‘help’. The thought of eating is repulsive. I quite want to cry tbh.

i do very much hope you all have a nice easter, enjoy a bit of chocolate if you are so inclined and have restful and merry days.

HeavyHeidi · 20/04/2025 07:39

Sorry you're not feeling great, @myladyjane and @MananaPenelope
Honestly aging is over-rated, I have such a long list of ailments I need to keep notes, otherwise I will forget what I need to see the GP about..
Hope the weekend improves a little. But yes certainly I would also take a break in those circumstances.

Jins · 20/04/2025 07:51

Sorry you’re not feeling great @MananaPenelope and @myladyjane - it’s been a week for it. Must be something in the stars. I’m improving but still feel bruised. Almost like someone has punched me in the stomach but nobody ever has so I’m guessing.

Went off to help DS1 in getting his house fit to move into yesterday and he’s doing a really good job of decorating despite never having picked up a brush in his life. Next door is a doer-upper as well and the owner is very friendly, offering coffee and alcohol if it all gets too much.

Food wasn’t great tbh. Highest levels of MJ in bloodstream yesterday and usually go for small, nutritious meals but the combination of sore tummy, being busy and higher suppression meant I skipped breakfast, had a banana for lunch and the only thing I fancied in the evening was a yellow stickered GF cupcake which I heated in the microwave and had with a tiny scoop of DS2’s fancy ice cream.

Zempy · 20/04/2025 07:59

Big hugs to the poorly people!

Take to your bed and let someone else do whatever needs to be done!

Thelittlestranger · 20/04/2025 08:17

Yes, sympathies to @MananaPenelope and @myladyjane

@cloudjumper glad the surgery went well. Did they tell you how much your uterus weighed? I’m really keen to know what my beast of a fibroid weighs. But I’m worried they will think I’m weird if I ask them to weigh it 😂

@Polkadotdashmy uterus weighed 1.7 kg! For reference, a normal uterus is 60 g… I can even see the difference now it’s gone, and so can DH.
I wish they’d taken photos, but unfortunately they didn’t.

2025istheyeari · 20/04/2025 08:43

I’m in Skipton at my mums to Easter and just catching up. Oh no @myladyjane that sounds awful, you poor thing, hope you feel better soon.
@MananaPenelope so sorry to hear you’re still suffering, you’ve been through the mill over the last few eeeks, really hope the break helps. Look after yourself and feel better.
@Jins hope youre better too.
@cloudjumper so pleased you’re home, take it easy too.
Hugs to you all and let others look after you!

BlueLimes · 20/04/2025 09:12

Hope people feel better sooner, can you take yourselves off for baths / naps/ books/netflix?

Happy Easter all 🐣

MJalltheway · 20/04/2025 09:34

Happy Easter all! Hope you all feel better soon @MananaPenelope, @Jins and @myladyjane 💐

Blimey @cloudjumper , 1.7kg! Literally like a weight lifted off you! I had a prolapse repair several years ago which is apparently similar recovery to a hysterectomy so my advice is - DO NOT OVERDO IT! Rest, rest and more rest.

Sneaky weigh this morning and am officially down 2 stone! Thought I'd weigh now before I have any Easter goodies. Not that I have an egg, but I've bought a pack of my favourite hot cross buns (lemon and white chocolate ones from Waitrose- they are amazing!).
feeling quite 'bunged up' today though, haven't had this as a side effect before. Need to get on the chia seeds I think.

Caggers65 · 20/04/2025 10:10

I been on 5mg for 4 weeks now not lost a pound any ideas as why

DGonMJ · 20/04/2025 10:11

Hope the toast and bedrest helps @MananaPenelope 💐
@myladyjane hope you manage to rest your back today 💐
@cloudjumper that’s a whopper, you must feel so much lighter now!
@MJalltheway well done on hitting your 2 stone loss milestone 🏅🏅

Jab #16 this morning. Weight is the same as yesterday. So officially calling it:
Week 16 Day 1 - 5mg
SW 79.6kg
CW 64.3kg BMI 23.6 - loss this week 0.8kg
GW 62.4kg

I’m very grateful and feel lucky that my progress has been steady, averaging at 1kg per week including the 4kg loss in the first week (assuming that was all water retention). If I don’t include that week it’s more like 0.8kg per week.

Not sure of Easter lunch plans. DM (who lives with us) has been in a very sour mood since we got back and has gone out to visit extended family with no word on when she’s returning. Maybe I’ll do a roast today 🤷🏻‍♀️

DGonMJ · 20/04/2025 10:50

Hmm - jab site seems to have developed a small lump. Anyone else have this before? And did you notice if effects were lessened?

myladyjane · 20/04/2025 11:11

Thanks for all the good wishes. Have moved around a bit which has helped the back and drunk masses so feel a bit better.

@MananaPenelope I am sorry things are feeling so awful. The side effects you are experiencing sound more than ‘mild gastric’ and affects that most of us seem to get so a break sounds like a sound idea.

@MJalltheway whoop whoop my twinnie. 2stine is immense. I am about 2lb behind you so you are my inspiration.

@DGonMJ sometimes I find parents more difficult than kids. Love them dearly but jeez.

@Caggers65 how did you do in 2.5? Are you feeling it? (Fullness, lack of food noise etc). Are you tracking cals? If all of that is a yes then perhaps your body is holding on a bit to the change in fuelling. If it’s that it will shift although may be frustrating. If you are not feeling it it may be time to go up.

MananaPenelope · 20/04/2025 11:14

Thanks everyone, I am bored silly, just had a bath and 750ml of fizzy water am reclining. I've had three baths in as many weeks, I only ever have a bath when I am feeling rubbish. Thought I would watch Laura K and Politics North in bed but it wasn't on today 🐣. I must get up soon.

Glad you're up and about @myladyjane .

@cloudjumper that is a huge!

@2025istheyeari I grew up ten miles north of Skipton.

@DGonMJ no I have never had that before. My weightloss is similar to yours, 0.9 kg a week. If I still maintain that rate of loss without injecting I will throw the towel in with MJ. I think I've learned that I just need to eat fewer than 1200 calories a day for whatever reason. 🤐

Reallyyyyyy · 20/04/2025 11:30

Hope everyone who is feeling poorly is on the mend quickly!

So today is the first official day i am not on MJ. I normally inject on a Saturday.

I have been really ill this week so not sure if today is because I'm feeling a bit better today or because I'm not injecting but actually felt hungry for the first time in about a month!

I had 2 eggs fried in butter with 1.5 slices of toast..not the healthiest but I haven't eaten anything really in ages as been ill and MJ took my appetite away completely.

For those wanting to come off soon I will keep you posted as I have scared myself liste into those who came offload turkey saying they are ravenous. I have been on 2.5mg since 22nd January. So just about 3 months and lost 20 kg which is slightly over 3 stone.

I still feel a bit peckish but I can ignore it. Before MJ I couldn't. So either It's because I'm still poorly, or I am better equipped at controlling impulses. We shall see!

Oh and period shoukd be due in the next few days, so let's throw that in there too!

UnderandOverwhelmed · 20/04/2025 11:34

Sorry to hear about all the people suffering today, hoping you feel better soon.
I'm feeling possibly my first urge to just go mad today and eat all the rubbish. I had a hot cross bun and a handful of mini eggs yesterday, granted that was all I had all day aside from dinner. I could totally do the same again today. I went down slightly this week to 5mg from 5.6 the previous week, I guess I should probably go up for my next jab. I've stopped calorie tracking as well, so I need to have a word with myself. I'm not even at my halfway point so I can't be slacking now!

DGonMJ · 20/04/2025 13:00

Glad you’re feeling better @Reallyyyyyy and looking forward to hearing how the rest of your week goes.

@MananaPenelope interested to hear what you decide to do and whether your weight loss has been purely a calorie deficit or something else.

I don’t suspect mine has been calorie deficit propped up with the appetite suppressant, and then maybe a bit of insulin/blood sugar stabilisation thrown in too. With a T2 father and pre-diabetic mother I expect there’s something I’m predisposed to.

discov · 20/04/2025 13:10

I usually jab on a Thursday night but totally forgot this week so didn’t do it until yesterday lunchtime. Felt so nauseous last night and still do today but just had a hot cross bun which has taken the edge off a bit. DH bought me a big Forerro Rocher egg but I feel very bleughhh about it!!

myladyjane · 20/04/2025 14:09

@UnderandOverwhelmed I have had my ‘worst’ week in terms of bad food quality. Chocolate, ready meals etc. I have many overeaten at all but I have wanted crap. I have put it down to being tired and in pain but it’s a bit sobering to see how much I am relying on the mj. It’s made me conclude that I do need to start working up to 7.5mg and not just stay on 5 for another month.

today I am not really gonna track and just let the mj do its thing. I am still getting full quickly but celebrating is part of life isn’t it and I haven’t really let myself ‘go’ since starting. I have to put some trust in myself I think.

i had a nice walk in the sunshine with my mum which was just what the back needed!

myladyjane · 20/04/2025 14:09

That was meant to say haven’t overeaten!

Thelittlestranger · 20/04/2025 14:12

@myladyjane I've decided not to track today too. Relax, enjoy and get back on the journey tomorrow. That is how life is.

@cloudjumper hope you are feeling well today!

@Reallyyyyyy keep us updated. And good luck.

@DGonMJ i have a similar family history with diabetes/prediabetes. I wonder if in future this may be a factor in prescribing before diabetes hits, for now I’m ok to pay as it’s working!

MananaPenelope · 20/04/2025 15:32

@DGonMJ , yes I will be like a real life experiment 😜. Definitely not injecting this week. I’ve made myself eat half a sandwich and have now had 2l water. I’m cooking roast chicken/trimmings for dinner and I’ll eat what I can. Feel better than I did at 8am.

I keep forgetting to ask how often people are taking things like Pepto Bismol. I take omaprazole daily anyway but on 3.75mg of MJ it hasn’t been enough to stop serious acid reflux. I know we’re all different, I just don’t have a measure for what’s ok.
