New thread as I am sure we will fill thread 2 up by the end of today!

Welcome back everyone and well done for all the losses. Some have 5-6 stone to lose, some have 2 stone and me I have put 4 stone but looking at the BMI chart I could lose 6 stone and still be in the healthy range.

I'm finding combining MJ with marathon training quite hard - its a fine balance to get the calories in to fuel well and then not to overeat. I've stuck with 2.5mg to get me through to after my marathon at the end of April because I think going up a dose will leave me struggling to fuel; I already find runs harder in the first couple of days post-jab when the effects are strongest. Good luck with the marathon at the weekend - I'm sure you'll get back on top of things once the race/recovery is done.

Thank you @seasidehunter. I managed a half a couple of weeks back and probably wasn't very well fuelled. But a marathon is a whole different ball game.. I crashed and burned at 21.miles in my last one and really don't want to repeat that.

soupforbrains · 03/04/2025 11:51

Well done @AddictedtoCrunchies for even attempting a marathon it’s something I can’t imagine ever doing! My eating is up the wall because of the zero hunger so I can’t imagine trying to balance carb loading for a marathon with the goals while doing MJ!

thanks to those with kind words re:my dad. It’s pretty awful but not much I can do about that so just ploughing on.

I had a great evening last night, no vomiting or anything at all really so the microdosing is definitely the right way to go for me. When I get to the end of this pen I may try the golden dose as a 2.5 full dose to see if my body is getting used to the MJ and see if I can maybe go back to full doses. But it doesn’t really matter. So long as I have suppression and the numbers on the scales keep going downwards then I’m happy. I have to keep reminding myself that pre-MJ if the scales showed a loss every week (even if only 1lb) I would have been over the moon. Because when I ‘only’ lost 1lb one week I was disappointed which is daft.

@GameOfJonescongrats on hitting that milestone. I almost can’t imagine not being ‘told’ I’m obese by the BMI charts! What a huge NSV for you.

Random Q; I’m with CheqUp and a sharps bin wasn’t provided, where are people disposing of their used needles as I’m just collecting them at the moment but want to get rid of them-just wondered what others are doing?
@AintNobodyHereButUsChickens i got headaches the first week and extreme coldness but didn’t have those SE’s after that, hopefully it’s just a week one side effect for you xx

Personally I would just get a sharps bin, ask at a pharmacy? Or look online, you can buy them quite cheaply. It’ll take a long time to fill one up with the old needles so it’s not like you need to buy a new one regularly.

Are you telling me the reason my nose has been like an ice cube for the last few days is because of Mounjaro?? I’ve been wondering why my nose has been so cold!!

PlexGirl34 · 03/04/2025 12:56

Afternoon all Wk3 weigh in this morning and happy to have another pound off I did not think I’d lose any this week due to TOM.

SW 13.5
CW 12.8
GW 9.5

So happy with the results three weeks into my my journey

I hate food, hate eating and just feeling 💩. Awful indigestion particularly after eating, it's kind of like my stomach is one pool of acid. It's making me feel so sick.

Before anyone says it's what I'm eating I'm not sure if it is. All I eat is wholemeal toast, porridge, yoghurt, berries, ham, avocado, cold chicken, hard boiled eggs, almonds, cooked white fish and a variety of veg, brown pasta and brown rice but can only manage a few mouthfuls of those.

Just had a picky plate of eggs, salad stuff and an apple and I'm fighting nausea - it's horrible.

Any tips - I've just started omeprazole, I take gaviscon but have pepti bismol waiting in the wings 🤢🤢🤢

TheBossOfMe · 03/04/2025 15:08

@Yellowsubmarine55 the indigestion is because of food sitting in your stomach for longer, that's part of how MJ works, it slows down your digestive tract. I don't have that problem but a lot of people on other threads say that eating much smaller meals more often works better for them. And a lot of people say eggs are an issue for them.

I had a really lovely dinner out with a very old friend I hadn't seen in ages last night as well as a working lunch that included fries. Was a bit worried that my willpower would go, and that I'd gain yesterday, but it was actually super easy to stick to high protein, high veg tapas, avoid carbs (apart from free flowing wine, although even with that I went for a light white vs my usual heavy red, don't seem to want that anymore) - and the scales held steady overnight. Super pleased because I had written off yesterday as a gain day, to be corrected over the next couple of days. So no further loss, but no gain feels like a win.

Avoid eggs. They are well known to give you sulphur burps and nausea on MJ. Also avoid onions and garlic

Also try an actimel a day. It seems to work for me most of the time at least 😂

Justformounjaro · 03/04/2025 16:13

I’ve been continuing to think that I’ve not got much suppression (as I still eat the exactly the same meals but don’t want to snack) but today for several logistical reasons we had to have fish and chips from a chippy for lunch. I knew this was coming and I was really looking forward to it. First mouthful, and I thought, I don’t think I want this. I ate all the fish out of the batter for the protein and a few chips but I wasn’t really enjoying it so I think this is the Mounjaro effect.

I’m still on 2.5mg and likely to continue next week as I’m so close to eating as I would normally if I wasn’t on mounjaro and still losing. I’ve got minimal side effects.

I weigh myself every day and it is very clear the temporary effect of having a salty meal or wine has on my weight so I’m not worried about it or beating myself up. The scales still show a downward trend overall.

6six6biscuits · 03/04/2025 17:14

Hope I'm ok to join you all as a late starter in thread 3, I've been lurking since the very start but not had the courage to post.

I am wk5d6 as I did my 1st 2.5mg dose on 28th February after being prescribed it due to diabetes and have now been moved up to 5mg starting last week so will be taking my 2nd 5mg tomorrow morning and weighing again.

Stats:
Age: 42
Height: 5ft 6
SW: 124kg ish (can't remember exactly)
CW: 117.8kg
GW: 70kg ish. This still wouldn't have me in a healthy bmi but anything is better than where I am at now.

SE wise I am absolutely exhausted and keep feeling really really cold, which is the opposite of normal for me, I am normally always melting. The food noise disappeared immediately for me and I was struggling to actually eat for the first couple of weeks but this last week since taking the 5mg I seem to have had less side effects and suppression which I've found a bit worrying but we'll see what happens tomorrow when I jab again.

My main worry at the moment is that 5mg will stop being effective as I can't be prescribed any higher a dose as that is all they are licensed to prescribe apparently.

Bipaloss · 03/04/2025 18:00

AintNobodyHereButUsChickens · 03/04/2025 11:00

Is anyone else getting headaches? I had my first dose on Monday morning and since Tuesday I’ve had on/off headaches. It’s driving me mad! I’m trying to drink loads but it’s not really helping.

It’s a SE unfortunately but should get better as you get used to the dose (had no SE week 3 and 4 on 2.5) , I have only got headaches day 2 after jab in the morning once or twice and has resolved by upping water and rehydration sachet (taste horrible but does the trick) . I avoid salty and fatty evening meals (actually I eat very less now in the evening and more at breakfast and lunch) as I’m quite dehydrated when I wake up

Christmashope19 · 03/04/2025 18:07

Week 2 day 4 for me and after feeling totally fine the tiredness has floored me today
absolutely exhausted
feeling overwhelmed with housework etc
hopefully after a good nights sleep I will be fine
hope everyone is doing well x

Crikeyalmighty · 03/04/2025 18:22

@Yellowsubmarine55 I took my first 2.5 one yesterday afternoon and I don’t actually feel hungry simply because I feel rather sick - haven’t been sick - it’s the kind of sick and slightly ‘off tummy’ feel you get with a nasty hangover. Hope it goes away because otherwise I can see I will lose weight , but purely because I wouldn’t eat much due to feeling pretty ‘off’ - I’ve had the burping too although not sulphuric . Not sure I could tackle more than a month of feeling sick all day - let’s hope it settles.

Same! As in freezing all the time when normally I’m the weirdo in sandals in march 😂 who can only prescribe 5mg?? X

Fingers crossed this is just your body adjusting to the medication and it wears off soon x

I thought the appetite suppression was becoming weaker (I’m due to inject tomorrow) it definitely isn’t we went to to sushi tonight and I completely lost interest in food at 4 plate, had one more and feel sickeningly full

At my GP surgery. My diabetes nurse gave me the option of Mounjaro or Ozempic and said that with Mounjaro although it goes up to 15mg they are only allowed to prescribe the 2.5 and then the 5 so I can't go any higher if it stops working.

Crikeyalmighty · 03/04/2025 20:03

@Lollzi86 I hope so - just eaten a decent sized prawn salad and managed that ok

Yes I've suffered pretty bad headaches too. I take a big bottle of water to bed. More toilet trips unfortunately but it is what it is. I also drink a pint of water first thing in the morning.
I also have a drink with electrolytes each day. Mine are Phizz tablets in orange flavour. It's helping a lot for me, I haven't had a headache for a few days now.

TheBlackSheepbaaaa · 03/04/2025 20:32

Hello, I've been following the threads and thought I may as well join in as I've found them really helpful.
I'm week 4 day 3.
SW : 105.9 kg
CW : 102.6
GW : Not sure yet.

I'm going to do the golden dose on my next jab day and then go upto the 5mg pen. Although I think I'm going to count clicks and start with a 3.75 and see how I go.

Oh I see so you are on it for diabetes rather than weight loss this makes sense. I was thinking it was a private chemist who had said you can’t go higher x

Thanks for the new thread.

wk4 day 3

sw 82.6

Really pleased with the weight loss. I can’t see it when I look in the mirror yet. Maybe soon.

I don’t know if it’s a side effect or just a rough week… but I have cried every day this week. It’s been tricky at work and a couple of other things just haven’t worked out and I feel like I have no resilience. Feeling really sad and lonely:(.

Paulahoust · 04/04/2025 05:57

Had mashed egg, mashed avocado and a crumpet for my tea last night and had the worst stomach ache all night!
