New thread as I am sure we will fill thread 2 up by the end of today!

Welcome back everyone and well done for all the losses. Some have 5-6 stone to lose, some have 2 stone and me I have put 4 stone but looking at the BMI chart I could lose 6 stone and still be in the healthy range.

I just wanted to comment on rapid weight loss. You really can only lose about 2lbs of fat per week. Above this and you are likely losing muscle. This is really bad, lack of muscle is ageing. Better to lose a steady lb of fat, than 3-4 including some muscle loss.

I've had an injection site reaction the past 2 jabs. Last week was using a syringe fir the 5th dose so put it diwn to that. It didn't come up til a few days later though, caused, slightly warm , red rash.

Jabbed using new pen last night, and this morning has the same reaction, although smaller. Anyone else getting this? Not an issue the first 4 jabs.

I had the same thing and still getting them now on jab number 8 they are huge and so itchy nothing seems to work 😢

I think sometimes it's just water weight - which IME is linked with hormonal changes during your menstrual cycle. But in general I agree that 2lb per week is a sustainable and healthy pattern.

soupforbrains · 21/04/2025 23:23

@JudgingJudythats not quite true. You are broadly correct that for healthy continuous loss a couple of lbs a week is most sustainable. And you are correct that muscle loss is ageing. However how much fat you can lose in a week is variable, particularly if you are extremely overweight (such as class 3 obese like me) then you can lose more than 2lbs a week without losing muscle. But the amount you can lose (without losing muscle) will reduce as your overall weight reduces.

additionally as someone else mentioned. Most women experience 1 week/month when they will lose more weight. This is usually during or after their period when their body releases fluids retained in addition to any fat lost.

JudgingJudy · 22/04/2025 08:18

I don't know how much fat an extremely overweight person can lose per week. And of course water and constipation can affect the number on the scale.

But we only want to lose fat. None of our muscle. It is safer to lose 4-8lbs per month, than 14.

Don't despair if you feel you're in the slow lane of wt loss. You are likely losing actual fat, and try to do a few exercises as well to give those muscles a wake up call. Sit to stand from a kitchen chair is a good start off.

SharpOpalNewt · 22/04/2025 09:22

It's unlikely that you'll lose no muscle at all.

A stone lighter, burpees are still horrible but a lot easier than they were two months ago.

Back from a long weekend with family and a lot of entertaining; had my fourth dose of 5mg on Sunday.
SW 84 kg
CW 77 kg
I’m hoping that 7.5 will impact the feeling of fullness which I really never have. I don’t mindlessly snack but otherwise have no clear signs that I am on mounjaro. I am eating what I would consider an average dinner portion, very small lunch and no breakfast. We eat a varied and healthy diet with all food groups included . I am struggling with the wine which I know is a lot of empty calories 2-3 glasses most nights . Lots of great numbers above and , to be fair, I have had a lot of social occasions over the last few weeks and am still managing to lose gradually so shouldn’t complain .
