Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

I’ve ordered via Superdrug. Ready to start on Monday. I’m 54 and weight train regularly with a coach who also provides nutritional advice but I just can’t shift post menopausal weight. I’m 14stone and 5”6 and would love to get two stone off in six months. I will use that time to continue training but also look at emotional eating

wordywitch · 29/03/2025 17:26

Finally got my pic accepted (had to do bra and underwear only 🤦‍♀️) so will await an email on Monday to tell me if I’ve been approved, I hope.

Do most people jab in the morning then? Or evening?

QS90 · 29/03/2025 17:49

Hope the injection went well @2025health 😁

2025health · 29/03/2025 18:07

@QS90all done, absolutely 100% pain free!

I'm only a week and a half in and have lost 4lbs.

I started on 12st.10lbs.
I'm pleased with how its going so far. If I feel this good with 4lbs off how will I feel getting to a good BMI? I'm feeling optimistic for the first time in a long time.
Side effects have been slight constipation, then slight runny bum, sleepy in the afternoons and needing to go to bed earlier. That's it though, so nothing too bad at all.
Before I started I did a deep dive into what was making me overweight and I identified it was emotional eating so I've been reading Allen Carrs "How to quit emotional eating" to work through my issues with junk food along side the injections.
I went with Juniper as they have good availability and were quick to respond and send it out to me. I have a referral code if anyone fancies trying them.

Just message me and you get £50.00 off your 1st order.

Just ordered the book, the reviews look really good. I hadn't really considered looking at the emotional aspect of it, but that's a great idea!

Everytime I feel so stressed I can't cope, I eat a giant bar of chocolate. Would be good to stamp out the desire, whilst on the meds.

I read The Fast 800 a while back too, which was really inspirational and positive. Just felt impossible with the hunger! Going to revisit that too, after the Allen Carr book.

Edited to also say, congrats on your weight loss so far!

I just did it when it arrived, when the toddler was having his nap and I could concentrate, which was 2pm. I was really exvited to start. By dinner time, it was already starting to work! I had a meal, then no desire for pudding / seconds / snacks on the sofa!

MedExpress is not accepting my photo and I don’t know what I’m doing wrong! Any tips?

Zoom in and crop, it took a few times for it to accept mine

66babe · 29/03/2025 16:52

I did it !
Very straight forward , followed clear instructions and in it went , doesn’t hurt at all
Now sat reading the posts of last months starters for hints and tips

Did you find any useful hints for new starters - I thought I might go back over some older posts and see if I can find any

Morning everyone, how are new starters feeling?

@OpheliaABC are you starting this weekend?

Mine is arriving today. I'm desperate to start, but if I end up with awful side effects whilst we're away (and it's a city break), I'll be so cross. Plus I'll ruin it for others.

I'll use the next 2 weeks to increase my water and stock up on healthy freezer staples.

Started Friday evening 28/3! No side effects so far, apart from terrible tiredness which is more than likely to be from a night out rather than the jab, 😆

No cravings, and sensible food portions have been enough today. Pleased with that. I did have some chocolate but didn’t feel the need to go OTT with it.

Hope you are well?

I’m with PillSorted as they had £50 off first order, then £20 off subsequent orders.

i jabbed in the evening, simply because I read someone say then the injection has the time to work its magic overnight and you will wake up ready to go and not hungry. I don’t know if it might help sleeping through some of the mild side effects too?

Thanks for the update, @OpheliaABC , hope today continues OK.

Doidontimmm · 30/03/2025 08:49

Day 2 - headache & nausea subsided yesterday. Didn’t feel like snacking at all which is not like me.

No symptoms this morning but do feel hungry. Holding out until 11 if I can though.

Usually Mother’s Day would be an excuse to eat cake but not fussed at all.

Mounraine · 30/03/2025 10:00

How much did everyone’s first pen cost? Mine was £112 (including a discount code and p&p).

Mounjarogirl25 · 30/03/2025 10:15

I started last night, not long before I went to bed. Haven't woken up starving as usual, not sure if it's actually started working yet or if it's a placebo but either way it's good. Monitoring for side effects, none yet but early days

£99 but £10 p+p so £109 in total from medicine marketplace. I just went for the cheapest overall without having to faff around with codes

Sallysushine · 30/03/2025 11:02

Hello can anyone help? I want to try mounjaro, my BMI is 28 but I do have an under active thyroid meaning it's hard for me to lose weight. When I go and try to purchase it online, everywhere is saying my BMI isn't high enough? Are their companies that will sell it to me still? Thanks.

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 30/03/2025 11:02

I’m starting next Saturday as it’s the first day of the Easter holidays (I’m a nursery school teaching assistant) so I have 2 weeks to get used to any side effects.

I have Hypothyroidism and am in Perimenopause so despite eating low carb, no sugar, no UPFs and only 1200 cals a day since January, along with walking c15k steps and lifting heavy weights for 10 minutes every day … I’ve only lost 1lb in those 3 months. ONE POUND. I saw the GP this week who told me that 85% of people with Hypothyroidism cannot lose weight, and that’ll be even more difficult in Perimenopause… but ultimately advised that I “eat less and move more”.

This is the lowest point I’ve EVER been emotionally about my weight and I’m in total despair as it’s now affecting my ability to enjoy my life and my hobbies (ironically all sports).

I’ve only just had the penny dropping moment that:

a) I’m not greedy or lazy, I have a disease
b) I cannot do this without WLI.

So now I’m terrified of what I’ll do if they don’t work…

I wanted to go with ousckh given what people have said - £142 with a specified delivery day.

@NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy this is EXACTLY where I am at, too. It's so exhausting, isn't it, and demotivating, when you pour everything into weight loss but the bloody menopause just fights back.

I pretty much wrote the same post as you earlier this week, so I understand! I think lots of us here are going through the same.

I'll be starting a week after you, and our stats are practically identical (I'm 5.7). Please, please don't despair, it's a hard enough decision to make, none of us are making it lightly.

Good luck, we have nothing to lose by trying, is my conclusion!

MrsCastle · 30/03/2025 11:44

And me! Almost same stats

5ft 6

in my 50s and 15 stone

going to start a week Tuesday due to work etc

we can do this 💪

Yes, I'd forgotten, that's another reason I chose Oushk (with a £30 off). Also the maintenance plan.

Yes maintenance plan big consideration

I liked the reviews of them - family and heavily women and available to discuss and encouragement on FB

how much were yours then? I just had to do it

MrsCastle · 30/03/2025 11:46

No pun intended “heavily women” 😂

Mounraine · 30/03/2025 11:47

£112. What's the FB group called? I couldn't find it.
