Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Just taken my first dose! Here’s hoping this works :)

wordywitch · 10/04/2025 16:40

Took my second jab this morning and am definitely starting to feel some appetite suppression and mild nausea. Nothing major but I couldn’t finish a cup of tea just now and the thought of food is not appealing.

ymemanresu · 10/04/2025 12:15

Could i have this please?

If wordy doesn’t get back to you, my referral code is RRAY8W it gives you £40 off and I get a credit on my account.

24 hours after first dose now and feeling ok. Can’t say I’ve noticed any side effect yet but obviously it’s early days. Just wondering about the drinking 2-3 litres of water a day- does it have to be water, or can it be anything that I usually drink, like tea, diet cola, sugar free squash etc? I don’t mind drinking water but I find it really hard to drink that much plain water.

OpheliaABC · 10/04/2025 16:57

Welcome to all new starters! Been mega busy but finally catching up!

I lost 4 pounds on the first week so I was happy with that.

I’m on week 2, day 6, today and it has been a straightforward week. Haven’t felt any side effects or major hunger/food noise but I definitely have the appetite for all my meals still. Overall I think I eat slightly less though.

Starting week 3 tomorrow and I’m honestly looking forward to moving to 5mg already but patience is key of course. ☺️

I’m so hungry today, not stopped thinking about food and my stomach has rumbled constantly even after eating. I’ve had porridge with berries and seeds, two salads with eggs and prawns and snacked on some nuts. It’s only 5pm and I’m starving. Really trying to not overeat but this feels like how I feel on a diet - constantly thinking about food and constant hunger. I know 2.5 is the loading dose and MJ does more than just suppression but feeling really deflated

I did read something about no fizzy drinks ?
ive prepared by buying flavoured water as can’t hack drinking plain

Bigfatsunandclouds · 10/04/2025 17:19

I'm on w1d4 and definitely feel appetite suppression and no side effects that I've noticed. I've been trying to eat healthily but I feel so full after each meal I'm finding it difficult to get all the protein in that I need. I think I need to do small and often.

I have ADHD and one thing I am finding is that I have more energy and therefore I am being more productive, so that's a positive already.

Oh 🙁
I do love my Coke Zero.
Still, I should give it up really, I probably drink too much of it. I often have 2 or 3 cans a day. Maybe I just won’t feel like it anyway when the mounjaro kicks in… ( she said, hopefully)

Thank you - have already ordered via Asda

I found Asda a bit slow. I applied on Friday. Got asked for photos on Saturday. Submitted Monday 8am. Got approved Wednesday afternoon so don’t worry if it’s not straight away.

SaddlebagSal · 10/04/2025 17:37

I’ve developed a taste for coconut water and have a daily glass as part of my overall hydration as plain water can be a bit boring. Google also tells me it counts as one of my five a day.

Which week are you on? I’m guessing you will be going up to 5mg when you can.

66babe · 10/04/2025 17:43

I also have a discount code if anyone would like it for Zava . I switched easily to them for my 2nd pen and saved 40 quid , only valid for 1 pen
PM for code if anyone would like it

I’m only on week 1 day 5 but I think I’ve been telling myself all week that my appetite has been suppressed when it really hasn’t 😆 just will power which I’m struggling with today

Hi, I’ve just had my first prescription dispensed. It’s arriving tomorrow. I think I’m going to take my first dose on Friday so if I feel sick, it should have worn off by the time I’m back at work on Monday.
Currently 117kg and my first aim is to get below 100.

Maybe then I could set a target of 70 or 80.

My first pen arrived today via Royal Mail.

Can I ask what weight tracker apps you guys are using?

Oh, try not to feel deflated. 😕 I had two days like this last week, NOTHING could fill me up, constant food noise too. I got my period shortly after - any chance hormones could be at play?

This week has been better for me but I’m definitely very far from eating like a bird. Eagerly awaiting moving to 5mg too. I know we shouldn’t expect much from the first month.

Hi all.
I'm about to do my second jab.
Do I need to prime the pen again?

screamingsiblings · 10/04/2025 17:51

By the way - I've lost 6llbs!!!

Yeah as it’s a new needle

Good to know I’m not alone. No idea about my cycle, still no period since giving birth in December!

Thank you for this, so did you have and documents off the doctor for the medication or have to declare it was in your case at all?? My only issue is I’ve not told some of the people I’m with so don’t want to have to make a big deal out of it I’d rather leave it home if I have to 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️

I’ve heard that the suppression can ramp up later for some. Fingers crossed you find yours after your second injection.

Skinni · 10/04/2025 18:07

These are the habits I am trying to build one at a time whilst on MJ so that I am in a better place for maintenance -
Sleep: this is a huge one for me - I go to bed too late - so I am now forcing myself awake earlier in the mornings so I am tired at night. I also read that sleep between 10pm and 2am is important for weight loss and that fat burning happens 4am to 8am.
Counting Calories: self explanatory TDEE - 500 so 1200max. I am trying to eat 2MAD and working out the portion size for my 'breakfast' which is the same each day.
Macros: realise that my protein in-take is v low - so I am building that up slowly, tricky as veggie and have high cholesterol so dont want to eat loads of cheese.
Drink water: also realise that I am poor at this as well - building up.
Resistance training: dont want to lose muscle and lower my BMR so aim to do x3 per week.
Steps: Aiming for 12k/day. Plan to ge these in after evening meal as its light now.
Cut off time/IF: also realise that I eat too late - so shifting my whole day back - wont eat after 7pm.

Pen arrived yesterday and I just took my first dose just now! Was fairly nervous about injecting myself so was worried I would freeze whilst trying to do it and wouldn't get the balls to do it, but I did it! The needle is so tiny! So proud of myself. I can definitely do that again. Excited and nervous for whatever is to come!
