Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

W2D1 and I’ve lost 1.5lb. I’m happy with that, I’ve not being making a conscious effort to “diet”. I’ve eaten my normal foods at normal times and the main difference has been I’ve eaten less and dramatically reduced snacking. I’ve tracked calories on MFP just to keep an eye on it and I’ve averaged 1200-1500 per day, which is about right for a 1.5lb loss at my TDEE.

Slow and steady suits me fine, I’ve had virtually nothing in the way of side effects so far (but am about to do this weeks injection so fingers crossed for the same). Apart from the weight loss the other thing I’m pleased about is that I feel great, lots of oomph and I’ve got my work inbox down from 350 to 10 emails.

Tambolina · 10/04/2025 10:13

I’d love to join your group… however I am still on the fence about trying it. I need to shift 3 stone at least, and I now have an injured knee which I know will be helped by weight loss. I’ve tried so many diets over the years… currently doing weightwatchers and feeling very disappointed all the time as I try so hard but don’t get great results, especially since the menopause.
I am really scared of the side effects of mounjaro though, I already suffer with tummy issues ( hiatus hernia) and on daily omeprazole. Anyone else in this position and can comment?
I just need the push and good support I think, I’m fed up of being the fat girl… my husband is so supportive of me too! But I always feel so ashamed about it all.

SquishyQuokka · 10/04/2025 10:32

I’m going to hop into this group! I was approved for Mounjaro on Sunday, and pen arrived on Monday just as we went away for a few days. It’s currently in fridge, and I figured I would weigh in when I get home and take the first dose today. I’ve been trying for years and like some others have lost a few kg and then put it back ok. Can’t work out why it keeps stalling. Maybe my age :) hoping this gives my body a bit of a kick start…mildly terrified, and not telling anyone for fear of being judged. Appreciate a space like this to share.

You sound like me! I just had a ‘fuck it’ moment at the weekend. Saw a photo of myself which was a wake up, so just went and ordered it and started today.

I figured that if I get side effects I’ll just stop. At least I can say I tried it. Im fed up of the self loathing and shame.

I can’t advise on stomach issues but I think I saw on here or another thread that the stomach meds can help with the side effects anyway.

good luck!!

Just been to the pharmacy to get some senna as my bowels were getting sluggish.
Gotten home, haven't even taken the senna and can barely stay away from the loo. Think the long walk back from dropping the car off for it's service and the extra shot coffee from Costa have probably helped get things moving too though.

That sounds exactly like my experience, also on W2D1 🙂

If anyone new is thinking of using Med Express to order, DM me if you want my £40 off code. It was so helpful to have that discount when I ordered my first one.

GrumpyWombat · 10/04/2025 11:26

I’m starting tomorrow. Technically I could lose 10 stone but I’ve never been that weight…I’d be happy with 8. I’m scared but excited!

@Tambolina I’m coming to the end of my first week. I’ve really had very few side effects. Occasional mild nausea but I think that’s sometimes caused by not eating enough. I wonder if the MJ might actually help your hernia symptoms because you’ll be eating smaller portions. I think it’s definitely worth giving it a try. Worst case scenario is you get side effects for a few days and decide not to continue. Good luck xx

HappyHugs · 10/04/2025 11:43

Just jumping on to join the April starters…approved but don’t have it in my hands yet…feels like this is a supportive group and as I’m keeping this quite private it’s good to have this place to come share concerns and ask questions.

I had the ‘saw a photo and fuck it’ moment too SquishyGloopy!

Good luck all.

Could i have this please?

Skinni · 10/04/2025 12:30

Does everyone swap suppliers each month to get the £40 discount (if no one has taken up your code)? Do you need longer to get approved by a different supplier for the higher dose - do you to supply proof you've been on it elsewhere?

Absolutely, DM’d it to you just now :-)

ymemanresu · 10/04/2025 13:06

Thank you x

SquishyGloopyBum · 10/04/2025 13:14

I also have a code if anyone wants to DM me for it. Every little helps!

GRCP · 10/04/2025 14:16

Hi all. I’ve just ordered my first dose - subject to approval by the online doctor, it should arrive at the weekend. Really hope it works!

Newmum110 · 10/04/2025 14:24

Is anyone here from Ireland? Does anyone know I can claim under the drugs payment scheme. Cost in Ireland is very high.

GRCP · 10/04/2025 14:26

How long did it take for you guys to be approved after submitting photos? Thanks!

WinterOnItsWayOut · 10/04/2025 14:29

W2D1

Really good first week 😊:
Weight: 5lbs down 💪
Food: Good suppression almost in the first 5 mins! Lasted well all week
Mainly eating low carb and v easy to make healthy choices. No desire to snack and no desperation for meals (+ smaller portions)
Drink: Drinking more water/squash and less tea. No real intent to do this but is just what I fancy
Less desire for alcohol after a hard work day
Medical: Bruise on 1st injection site in tummy so have jabbed thigh today
A couple of sudden headaches but gone away with paracetamol
Period has accelerated (although not regular in peri!)
Other: Cleaning seems less arduous!
One night of broken sleep but ok since

Bring on Wk2 - would love peri mind fog to be lessened if it can do that for me too🤞

This is brilliant! I’m a week behind you. Hoping for similar results 😀

How long did it take for you guys to be approved after submitting photos? Thanks!

I applied Monday via the P2U app , as I already use them I got a 25% discount. I was then asked on Tuesday to resubmit my photos with a date stamp . It’s been delivered today !
except my neighbour took it and she’s out now… very frustrating lol

SusanSometimes · 10/04/2025 15:47

@Tambolina I also have a hiatus hernia and am on the same medication as you. I started mounjaro a week ago tomorrow and have had no side effects whatsoever so far but good suppression. Best of luck.

I'm excited for my second dose tomorrow evening, and my first weigh in tomorrow morning!
