Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow yes i am on levothyroxine after post partum thyroiditis. Been stable for 14 years with meds but will keep in mind to look out for possible changes!

Mounraine · 07/04/2025 17:23

W1D4 Decided that my sore throat and RHR and HRV changes were nothing to do with the Mounjaro, but an infection. So, that leaves weird taste and some problems with going to the toilet as side effects. I'm glad we have this 2.5 adaptation period. Still not tempted with my usual junk food and still under-eating (because although I get hungry, I am very quickly satiated). There was a wobble at work where a usual trigger made me think, "god, I need sugar" but it passed in a second and I wasn't really tempted.

Skinni · 07/04/2025 17:30

I took my 2nd dose 12 hours early, last night as I was getting hungry.

Had 'mild and transient' side effects. Felt cold last night and this morning and had slightly a looser stool. I only know these are MJ related as I had these last week on the first and second day and experiencing them again today. So I assume / hoping they will be transient like last week. But for a 9lb weight loss in a week, shifting my BMI down 1.5 - I am delighted.

I am doing IF 18:6 and 2 meals a day (cc to roughly 1000) - making intentional changes to up my protein and cut refined carbs. I was on 3 crumpets with butter for breakfast and have replaced it with overnight oats, greek yogurt, chopped apple, milled flax seeds and a sprinkle of granola at 3pm - its glorious.

I ended up having only one meal yesterday, a roast late afternoon - but was starving by 10pm and sniffed out a Danish pastry. Rookie mistake should have had my healthy 3pm breakfast.

W1D1 for me. Are really healthily today and excited. Although I'm now freezing, ive heard that's a side effect but surely wouldn't happen that quickly?

I’m W1D5 and the only side effect I’ve had is sometimes being freezing cold, but it’s like a coldness from within rather than cold because the room is cold IYSWIM. Otherwise I’ve been really pleased with it so far, I’ve not felt hungry and I’m eating less, I still think about food but mainly out of habit and I'm
able to resist eating snacks which I wasn’t before. I’m waiting until Wednesday to step on the scales but my jeans already feel looser.

Yes that's exactly it, freezing from within - I can cope with it but it's such a beautiful day I thought I'd get away without a jumper (not so)! I really hope the scales move for you!

Potato1234 · 07/04/2025 18:21

Hi all, just started on Saturday night. So far nothing has changed for me, if anything I’ve been way more hungry than normal and thinking about food a lot. So I’m 48 hours in and no difference. I’ll keep going as I’ve paid for it but really hoping that it starts to work for me.

Eclecticstuff · 07/04/2025 18:22

Hello, I’d like to join you. Planning on starting MJ on Thursday too @EllaSaturday I’m on levothyroxine too after post-partum thyroiditis and been stable on it for 15 years.
@HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow Thanks for the advice to look out for symptoms of too much thyroxine!
I’m 55 and have a long history of losing 2 to 3 stones and then putting it all back on again. Highest weight over Covid was 257 lbs but sitting at 228 today. I do heavy weightlifting and was losing slow and steady but had gall bladder issues and lost 2 stone over 3 months and went down to 198. After surgery, I was ravenous constantly and have eaten my way back to 228lbs over 8 months. I am feeling so down and angry at myself for this but it made me realise that my body is fighting to keep the weight on and that led me to MJ. I am quite scared of the side effects but just need to get on with it. Looking forward to sharing this journey with you all.

Hi guys I was hoping I could join you. I've not started yet but I have an appointment with my GP this afternoon to double check there are no contradictions with my current meds before starting (I don't think there are but want to be sure) and then I'm ordering. Super keen to get started. I don't know if people are introducing themselves but a little about me

35yo mum of 1 🩵
I've been doing SW for a year and while I lost 7-10lb initially, I've struggled since to get anywhere.
I have recently been diagnosed with insulin resistant PCOS which explains alot so hopefully mounjaro will help.
Currently UK size 18/20 (realistically a 20 more often) and I'd love to be a 14/16.
My aim is to lose a few stone before we start TTC for #2 next year.

How is everyone finding it? Any tips for a soon-to-be new starter? Xx

Hi,
I started last week and am only on day 4 but so far so good!
I haven’t weighed myself yet but my stomach is flatter and jeans looser.
I haven’t felt hungry at all and am having to remind myself that I need to eat. Also am naturally wanting healthy foods!
My husband and son stopped for a Maccies at the weekend and the thought made me feel sick.
I started with a BMI of 33.5
15st 10lb and 5’8
Would like to get down to 12st and then see how I feel.
My tip so far would be not to worry as I was so nervous about starting and then doing the injection.
I needn’t have worried at all as I didn’t even feel it!
And have been lucky to have no side effects so far other than a slight headache and feeling cold on day 1.
If you decide to go with Medexpress DM me as I have a code which gives £40 off to both of us which is a huge help!
Good luck & look forward to reading about your journey on here. xx

Hi, I started today too. Very excited. Was delighted the injection didn't hurt at all either. I've got about 4 stone to lose and really can't wait.

SausageCatYellow · 07/04/2025 20:11

Feeling a bit emotional with disappointment this evening. No suppression felt whatsoever with 2nd dose. Feel like I've been ravenous all day. Words of wisdom appreciated.

SausageCatYellow · 07/04/2025 20:14

Today I've eaten:

  • Fat free Greek yoghurt with banana, granola and honey
  • graze blueberry snack bar
  • lunchbox sized malt loaf
  • carrots, peas, broccoli, hummus and wholemeal pita bread
  • 7(!) chocolates from box
Terrible? Not as bad as I'm thinking? Perspective please.

No this is not terrible at all! You probably need more protein though. Has this filled you? I’m yet to feel any change, I started my first injection on Saturday :(

This doesn’t sound terrible at all. It’s still not that much food. I’m sure you could eat more so that you feel fuller.
Are you at the beginning of wk 2 or end?
Hope it kicks back in for you soon. xx

Thank you. I felt immediate suppression week 1, so maybe just my body adapting quickly this week.

It has filled me... good question and got me thinking that maybe what has came back is the food noise.

Wishing you lots of success with your journey. How have you found it so far?

Thank you! At the beginning of w2, so still time. I have an anxiety disorder so the Mounjaro not working for me seems to be a new worry. It's difficult seeing a friend lose 21lb in 4 weeks, and I don't think I'll be anywhere near that. I'm of course so happy for them, but so unhappy in my skin, it feels disheartening.

lovechocolate · 07/04/2025 20:27

@SausageCatYellow Im sorry it’s not felt like a good day. I’m only on day 3 so don’t have much to go on yet. All I want right now is chocolate but trying really hard not to have any! I think we just need to keep reminding ourselves that we are all going to have disappointing days but the good will outweigh them. Hope tomorrow is better for you x

SausageCatYellow · 07/04/2025 20:28

What a wonderful bunch you all are. It's so reassuring to have a support network for the down days.

Thank you! So far no change. No side effects, if anything I feel more hungry. I’ve noticed I’m not thinking about chocolate etc. and going for yoghurts and berries so maybe it is working subconsciously!

Yes this seems to be a common experience in that we are more likely to crave healthy food choices. I think maybe due to blood sugar regulation meaning no sugar crash where we crave it.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 07/04/2025 20:38

@SausageCatYellowi’d focus on adding a bit more protein if you can, when you’ve got a smaller appetite its important to try and fit in enough protein to maintain muscles. If I have yoghurt for breakfast I have full fat and add a paleo grain free granola full of nuts and seeds. I snack on chicken breast, maybe a babybel or similar amount of cheese. I like chocolate coated almonds. You can have 7 for 100 calories, they are delicious and really satisfying.

WellJuhnelle · 07/04/2025 20:41

Hi all, just taken my first dose so joining you all here. Was originally planning on taking it on a Thursday because that would fit in with my working week better in case of any side effects but my routine is all over the place because of the school holidays so bit the bullet and injected today. Feeling rotten with the worst hayfever I’ve ever had so may as well just add to the misery 🤣.

5’1, 14st6. I think I would like to set my first goal to a 4 stone loss. Still a high bmi but that is where I look most healthy I think.

I’m one of the ones doing daily weigh ins, I weigh in kg - it’s such a relief to start to see a lower number on the scales isn’t it 🙌🏻🙌🏻

I’m also weighing in daily and so far 3rd day checking in and each day it’s going down. Today was 200g down and every little bit is a motivation!

I think denying all cravings might make you want something more. I’d think about how to satisfy it with a small token. Portion control is key. How about a Freddy, or something very small to not feel like you’re really denying yourself something you enjoy. It’s trying to find a balance that you can live with long term.

I’m a fan of chocolate coated almonds in the small pack so by the time I’ve shared with DH it’s the perfect portion.

I’m only on my first week so also worry that I won’t get such a good reaction in week 2.
But I’m determined to keep going and even if some days are more of a struggle I am confident I will at least stick to healthy foods as I’m scared that if I eat anything bad it will bring on unwanted side effects! 😆
So great that we all have the support on here!
