Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Any tips on how to reduce residual medicine coming back out injection site once dose administered? Or is this a nominal amount I shouldn't bother about?

NinetyNineRedBalloonsGoBy · 06/04/2025 18:10

24 hours in and only side effect so far is a slight headache and a kind of hangover-like nausea. Water seems to help that, I don’t know what else might?

Appetite suppression good, I haven’t wanted any snacks but still slightly hungry this morning for my breakfast (yoghurt & nuts) and a late lunch (bacon and egg bagel thin).

Mounraine · 06/04/2025 19:06

Urgh, I feel 'flu-y with a sore throat all day. Might be jab-related, might not be, but seems to be a common early side effect. I've eaten well, again, and been to the gym. I've never done anything like this and finding it a bit nerve-racking.

Mounraine · 06/04/2025 19:36

Thank you @50FootWave.

I don't think it can be a reaction to the Mounjaro 3x 24 hours after jabbing. Everything I can find suggests throat/neck issues arise within minutes/hours of injecting.

Weirdly, I've had zero temptation to snack or graze. Have managed to eat really well - high fibre, high protein and very low UPF. This could be a game-changer for me.

50FootWave · 06/04/2025 20:10

Feeling rough aside (and likely unrelated by the sounds of it), this all sounds really encouraging! So pleased for you @Mounraine !

I've convinced myself I'll be a non responder. 😥

Still, this time next week I'll be in the club, so then I'll know for sure. 🤞

Completely lost my interest in food. Yesterday, I was on my own all day and realised I'd only eaten 2 slices of toast and an apple.
Today I had chicken salad for lunch and again (with added egg) for tea. No snacks. No hunger.
As I said before, I had massive heartburn on friday night, but last night was much better.

Feeling hopeful...

Ikr? It seems to good to be true and perhaps it won’t work for me because I’m too old or don’t enough to lose or been overweight/obese too long…

Completely lost my interest in food.

Yes, it’s a really weird feeling. If I wasn’t keeping an eye on my protein and fibre intake I wouldn’t eat half what I have eaten. It’s very liberating.

Hi everyone,
I was approved overnight by Medexpress so just awaiting dispatch now. I'd love to join you all please.
First things I've done is prep equipment and write a list of all the supplements and foods I need to buy ahead of starting properly next weekend.
I must say, I'm extremely glad I got a new set of scales, I was using some older style traditional scales. Well my biggest shock was even though I'd been calibrating the needle to zero, the scales were damaged internally and were out....by HALF A STONE!!! This has obviously shocked me because it means I'm a lot heavier than I thought.
So I'm now more determined to get this sorted.
I've always been "chunky" but I am definitely at my heaviest now. I'm a single mom to a wonderful and supportive teenage daughter and I'm very excited to introduce the new me to her when I finally achieve a weight I'm happy with 😊

Hi, I’m just about to order and start this journey too. I’m curious to know what supplements are on your list? I’m going to have a ‘getting sorted’ week so I’m ready too. Wishing you success on your weight loss journey

The instructions on mine, say to leave the needle in your body, for give seconds after the plunger is at the bottom. If you're already doing that, I don't suppose there's much else you can do. How much comes back out, roughly?

LindaSWFrance · 06/04/2025 22:17

Just taken my first 2.5mg shot and hoping for few side effects and some suppressed appetite! It took several minutes to pluck up courage to jab my thigh but I must admit I felt nothing. So much so I actually wondered if I'd done it properly! Good luck to everyone.

Not sure where I want to get to, just lighter!

I’m slightly more hopeful that I’m not a non responder…

Definitely had some food noise this morning while I was dealing with a stressful situation but then only had quark, berries and seeds for breakfast and didn’t eat again until I had some chopped up veg at 3pm. Had a big bowl of broccoli based slaw for dinner and haven’t felt the urge to snack at all since.

I’m still thinking and worrying about food a lot though. I’m also worrying about getting enough
protein -( I’ve done rapid weight loss in the past and lost a lot of hair). I’m a veggie and trying to get lots of protein while also eating whole foods is quite tricky. I’m going to have eggs for breakfast tomorrow and tuna for lunch so that should help a bit.

That's amazing going! I would say definitely not a non-responder - especially as you must only be on 2.5 dose atm?

I've lost hair before because of rapid weight loss too (due to food poisoning). While not ideal, it did grow back and touch wood, my hair is lovely and again thick now. I'm at a stage in my life, where I'd take temporarily thinner hair, to improve my overall health. Once I'm a healthy size and eating more normally, it will thicken up again x

Yes just on 2.5. I was feeling disheartened as I’ve read so many stories of people who feel suppression straight away and mine has definitely taken a while to come but I do think it’s working now. My hair fell out for a good couple of months after I stopped doing fast800 but I think it was probably only noticeable to me and you’re right - it is worth a bit of temporary hair thinning to be a healthy weight.

Skinni · 07/04/2025 00:17

Just been reading about someone who was on a 3.75mg dose - I thought the second month was at 5mg?

Queenelsarules · 07/04/2025 00:34

I got on the scales after 5 days, only 1lb off, I'd really been hoping for a big loss first week. I know I'm in it for the long haul and I'm just going to keep on keeping on, but could do with some positive stories about a slow start to weight loss. I have 8 stone to lose so thought it would come off fast initially.

I got this from Zava today - week one for me:

It can take a couple of months before you start noticing the full effects of your treatment, but that doesn’t mean it isn’t working. You’re already well on your way to a healthier you and should start to see significant changes soon. Our patient information hub includes a variety of tools and resources to help you smash your weight loss goals.

And I posted a few pages back that the understanding is 2.5 is not a therapeutic dose and is there to build tolerance. I am doing calorie controlled now as I know I can keep up the motivation for 4-6 weeks and hopefully it will have kicked in in time for usual trowing in the towel moment. Have you read through the threads started a few months ago - might be helpful to understand how it varys and when it kicks in for differnt people.

I have read some of the shorter threads and am motivated by the many people who have lost 4st in under 6 months.

My understanding from reading other threads is that some people go up a half dose to try and avoid side effects. You can alter the dose by counting the clicks when you twist the pen - I’ve not done it as I’ve just started but it seems quite common.

Rosiejovi · 07/04/2025 07:03

Week 1 done! And I'm down 9lbs exactly.

af has arrived so I wonder if the usual chocolate cravings will appear. 🫣

I think it takes 3 days for the full effects to be seen (for the hormones involved to reach peak levels). It then wanes again, until your next dose.

But clearly you are a responder! You might just not be one of the lucky ones, who sees much of a suppression at lower doses.

TC4 · 07/04/2025 07:44

I’m one of the ones doing daily weigh ins, I weigh in kg - it’s such a relief to start to see a lower number on the scales isn’t it 🙌🏻🙌🏻

It sure is! I never used to weigh myself but it's so encouraging to see the numbers going down!

It definitely is, with weighing daily there will definitely be fluctuations up and down so have to make sure I don’t get disheartened by that but when a number you haven’t seen for a long time appears that’s encouraging!! Although I’m going to try not to get hung up on numbers and more by how I feel and how clothes fit!!
