Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Something for us to bear in mind then, lack of hunger suppression might not last long?

Maybe who knows it’s definitely a learning time for us all at the moment

LoopyLou94 · 05/04/2025 21:42

Hi all, 5'7 and 120kg here- BMI 40.3. Hoping to eventually lose 55kg with medication, not eating UPF and weight training. That would bring me to a BMI around 22. Due to start on Tuesday. Looking forward to it! Nervous but looking forward to it.

NZLurker · 05/04/2025 22:01

Hi everyone
W2 D1
SW 85.0 kg
CW 80.4 kg
GW 63 kg

2nd jab today. Had good suppression since almost immediately after 1 st jab. Eating overnight oats, lots of fruit and trying to increase protein daily. So far eggs and roast chicken but intend to increase fish, beef intake this week and add protein powder. . I have been really constipated, worrying me as usually regular. Increased chia seeds, prunes and tangerines, with little effect. This week will try 2 x daily kiwi fruit as well. Drinking loads of water and herbal teas, also daily instant coffees. Over 3 litres fluid per day.
Bloated stomach, eventually took 1 x dulcolax, which definitely moved things along. Took about 14 hrs. I really wouldn't recommend taking more than 1 pill.
I'm hoping this week, the constipation is managed with extra protein and fibre.

No other side effects ( fingers crossed)

I have up alcohol 2 months ago ( really needed a reset) but majorly compensated with sugar and carbs. So the big weight loss this week, actually takes me back to what I was 2 months ago.
So I am super glad to not have alcohol, sugar or carb cravings. Hoping that continues. It's a miracle!!

Good luck everyone!

Hi everyone, I jabbed on Friday morning so I guess I’m day 2 today. I had a good start - had a small late breakfast and lunch - felt full by the end of both of them then no snacking till dinner which is rare for me on a sat. Had our planned dinner - felt full at the end. Thought things were going well. Then I had a really stressful time sorting out kids bedtime and holiday prep and drank a beer and ate a handful of curly wurly squirlies on the sofa - I’m not feeling that my food noise is quietened 😞 I’ve prepped healthy food for our day of travel tomorrow but was hoping the MJ would be giving me a bit of help by now - I think day 3 is highest levels in bloodstream so maybe I’ll get a bit more suppression tomorrow.

GrumpyWombat · 05/04/2025 23:03

I’m really tempted. I’ve tried Saxenda for a short time in the past and it worked but wasn’t keen on side effects.

I’m heavier than ever though and can’t stop eating crap.

Where is the best place to order from? Is there anywhere I can physically pick it up from rather than getting it delivered?

I believe you can pick it up from Asda - might well be others. Whats your concern about delivery - there are no markings on the packaging, it comes with cool pack - but doesnt have to be stored in a fridge anyway.

Hi all, just thought I'd check in with you all. Like a few of you have said that are on day 6, the Jab seems to be wearing off for me. I really need to be more focused on the weekends as this is when we have 'fun family time' so for example, we're having an afternoon in the garden with nibbles and I'm actually really miffed I can't eat the snacks! DP wants to pop open some prosecco and I would love a glass but obviously, not a great idea! So I've decided to move my Jab day to Thursdays (last injection was on Sunday) so I'm going to inject tonight, then move again next week to Friday, the the following week I will inject on Thursday. I need the food noise out of the way on weekends! I will not fail! I've had a cheeky weigh in today and I'm down 7.8lbs so far, official weigh day is money so I'm wondering if I can hit double digits! Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine 🌞

FWIW I've had a few glasses of red over the weekend, with no ill effect. It's weird because I normally wake up ravenous and craving junk, but this hasn't been the case.

W1D2 and my Fitbit is telling me that my resting heart rate has increased and heart rate variability is down. Neither of these are a good thing. A quick google suggests these are a common side effect, not a concern to doctors, and return to normal as soon as the medication is stopped.
Anyone else experienced this?

My resting heart rate went up 20 beats per minute. But I'm on Levothyroxine and the mounjaro appeared to kick start my thyroid so I was over medicated, after a reduction in dose I'm almost back to pre MJ levels

My journey has been similar to @diian and I'm looking at maintenance at the moment. It was surprisingly fast compared to standard healthy eating/diets.

I have changed eating habits to 2 meals a day. Focus on protein and nutrition but not cutting all treats out. I love chocolate coated almonds and they are a great occasional treat.

I'm exercising most days now, the first few weeks I felt a bit tired and didn't but from Xmas I exercised almost every day, about 30-40mins

I went up in slower steps as I felt strong suppression and didn't feel a need to move on to higher pens quickly.

Lovely to see your whole journey and your average loss per week at 3lbs as some losses I’ve seen have seemed unrealistic for me but it depends how much you have to lose I guess. You must feel amazing now, really well done for your success.

It’s definitely good to see it written down like this isn’t it as it makes you realise that fluctuations are normal and doesn’t necessarily mean things are going in the wrong direction 👍🏻👍🏻 I feel like it’s normal to get a larger loss on the first week (but as you say dependant on how much you have to lose) and then for it to slow down a bit which is fine I’d rather lose slowly and be able to maintain it than suddenly lose loads in one go and it be a shock to my system

Mounjarogirl25 · 06/04/2025 08:48

Morning everyone, 2nd jab last night. Weigh in this morning and I lost 7lb in the last week which I am very happy with. Obviously I know a lot of this will be water and it will slow down but it's a nice kick start. Very few side effects last week, a bit of heartburn and 1 short bout of diarrhoea yesterday (I had some apple juice so I think that's what did it) so let's see what this week brings 🤞

wordywitch · 06/04/2025 08:50

I am on day 4 after my first injection and I can’t say I’ve felt much difference. Very slight headache and tiredness on day 2 but was also on my period so could have been that. I’ve felt no discernible difference in appetite though I have been trying to control snacking and portion sizes anyway so just carrying on making healthy choices where I can. I’m not too worried as I know that not everyone gets much from the first one, though I’ll be interested to see if the next injection has any more noticeable effects.

@TimeToGetThin I did 2.5 for 6 weeks, the 3.75mg for 5 weeks, the 5mg for 6 weeks

I went up gradually as I had strong suppression and didn't feel the need to move up in line with pens.

You can adjust your dose using pen clicks. There are 60 clicks per full dose in a pen so you can choose how many to do. So say you bought the 5mg pen when your 2.5mg was due to run out you can choose to do a 2.5 dose from it using 30 clicks, or a 3.75mg dose for 45 clicks etc

The pens are supposed to last 30 days once used, and if you do the adjustments I've mentioned that can mean a pen is in use longer than 30 days or you end up throwing some medication away. That does come down to your own risk appetite. I've judged that the needles are sterile and my pen is kept in the fridge so if I get an extra dose out I'm taking it.

Tgis is helpful, how did you decide when to increase your dose, was it because the suppression was waning? Can you say what your SW and CW are and how much you had to lose in total. I don’t have as much to lose as some so think that your approach may suit me and also it’ll be cheaper.

Oh really? My concern was it being left outside and spoiling as it’s Easter hols we will be out a lot.

lovechocolate · 06/04/2025 10:47

Really helps to read the successes people are having- thanks for sharing! Took my first dose 24 hours ago and no side effects yet…, how long does it take for side effects to kick in?

Mounraine · 06/04/2025 11:55

I don't think there's any rhyme or reason to it @lovechocolate.

W1D3
No hunger suppression here, my tummy was rumbling all morning. It's fine, I'm used to that from fasting and I think it does me good to sit with it rather than react to it. Finally ate about 11am and am just stuffed after a small bowl of yogurt, fruit and seeds. Like, uncomfortable-just-eaten-a-massive-takeaway kind of stuffed.
Also, I have always run cold, but the last couple of days I have been freezing. Wearing two pairs of socks and gloves indoors cold.

As Skinni says, you can collect it from Asda, but you’ll pay much more for it than if you ordered online.

Does anyone use Shemed?

Lundier · 06/04/2025 14:31

W1D2

Not wanted to eat anything since a few hours after dose 1. I ate a few bites last night through politeness and then at lunch I worked on a piece of toast and marmite and got through about half of it. I worried that maybe my blood sugar was crashing so I tried to eat something. I don't think unplanned fasting is a great idea.

Then I tried a cup of tea and that made me rush to the loo. Now I just feel sick and cold and my tummy is upset. Basically like a hangover. I feel rotten! I hope it settles down as I have a ton of work on this week. And I've friends arriving in half an hour!

Oh really? My concern was it being left outside and spoiling as it’s Easter hols we will be out a lot.

I picked mine up from Asda. It was £169 I think. I wasn’t sure if I had to be at home for delivery - a lot of the companies are very keen to take your money but don’t provide much info on the delivery process and I work full time so it wasn’t an option. For my next dose I’ll probably ask on here for a company that will be happy to leave it on my doorstep.

I was told to store it in the fridge until the first dose - but from my reading it’s fine for it to be in the ice packs for ages so wouldn’t matter if it waited a few hours for you to put it in the fridge. Weirdly, once you’ve taken the first dose it doesn’t need to be refrigerated.

HesDeadBenYouCanStopNow · 06/04/2025 16:39

@Autumnleaves4I was 14 stone 3.8 when I started and I’m 10 stone 12.2 now

SusanSometimes · 06/04/2025 17:12

I'm 48 hours in from my first dose. No side effects so far, but strong suppression. Just back from Sunday lunch at a friend's house. Normally I'd be an 'eat everything put in front of me then hoover up any leftovers' kind of gal, but I could only eat half of it and didn't want dessert Confused. I hadn't eaten breakfast either.
