Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

I’m just listening to this episode of inside health that was aired earlier this week. Really worth a listen and all about WLI…

Inside Health - NHS weight-loss drug - BBC Sounds

Is an NHS weight-loss drug a new era in tackling obesity?

Thanks, listening to it now. (NB it's two years old and about semaglutides and not mounjaro).

screamingsiblings · 05/04/2025 16:36

ugh, I had the worse nights sleep last night. (took 1st jab on Thursday evening).
I had very bad heartburn, and kept waking up.
About halfway through the night, I got up and burped about 20 times!!!

PearlFatball · 05/04/2025 16:50

i took the second jab last night and am so hungry today! Had a very strong craving for a proper American everything bagel with scallion cream cheese. Have had that, an iced latte, a carrot juice and a tumeric juice and somehow still hungry!

Will drink more water and hold out for a reasonable protein-based dinner but just odd. No side effects though.

Schoolsec · 05/04/2025 17:27

I’ve got my first dose in the fridge. Collected it today. Planning on starting on Good Friday, as I am going on holiday and don’t want to risk any side effects when I am away. I’ve watched a YouTube video about injecting and what to do. Must admit that I didn’t give the practical side any thought before but now feeling a bit anxious about it all 😳

This is me today as well, I’ve been working but feeling hungry but bloated as well - I’m starting to feel disheartened that it’s not going to work for a second week but I hope it does

No they are not a dodgy company at all. Read some of the other threads on Mounjaro on MNs to recover and step away from FB 💐

I had a Quick Look on FB and decided not to look in there again. This site is good

Hi all, just thought I'd check in with you all. Like a few of you have said that are on day 6, the Jab seems to be wearing off for me. I really need to be more focused on the weekends as this is when we have 'fun family time' so for example, we're having an afternoon in the garden with nibbles and I'm actually really miffed I can't eat the snacks! DP wants to pop open some prosecco and I would love a glass but obviously, not a great idea! So I've decided to move my Jab day to Thursdays (last injection was on Sunday) so I'm going to inject tonight, then move again next week to Friday, the the following week I will inject on Thursday. I need the food noise out of the way on weekends! I will not fail! I've had a cheeky weigh in today and I'm down 7.8lbs so far, official weigh day is money so I'm wondering if I can hit double digits! Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine 🌞

Thats incredible first week. My hunger is returning Day6....so I am going to do that same and shift inj day back to a Thursday as I reckon I can hang out on a Tues and Wed.

Someone said up thread that you can inject again any day after D3 so I will do it tonight.

Yes, sorry should have said that. And all research shows that Mounjaro is more effective so here’s hoping.

ValliBec · 05/04/2025 18:05

Hi all! Hope you’re all enjoying the lovely sunshine ☀️
I saw a few PPs mention they were hungry…I can’t say that I’ve really had any food suppression either? This is day 3 for me (injected on Thursday) and today I’ve been dreaming of ice cream / cake / bad food arrghhh. Did anyone find it took a few days for the hunger / food noise to subside or was it instantaneous? Really hoping this works for me, I have 3 stone to shift and nothing else I do seems to be working 🫤

mjaronewbie · 05/04/2025 18:07

I've lost 4lbs in my first week which isn't as much as some but better than it could have been. I probably need to start calorie counting if I am to have more of an impact. I am still feeling a little hungry after the second jab but haven't succumbed! I went to the cinema and didn't fancy the goodies at all which was good. Stuck to water - a miracle!!

Lundier · 05/04/2025 18:11

I felt nothing at first. Then a bit of a fast tum. Then I got into my bed and slept for almost five hours in the middle of the day! Thank goodness it's the weekend.

Just getting up now! I do not feel hungry.

My neighbours are cooking outside in our courtyard and texting me to come out, and then tomorrow we've got more friends coming for a BBQ... this will be interesting.

Doidontimmm · 05/04/2025 18:23

Day 2 of second jag and out for lunch, had poached eggs on a piece of sourdough with half an avocado and that’s it. Friends had cake but I wasn’t even tempted. Going to have branflakes in a bit but only vaguely hungry. So so unlike me!

ValliBec · 05/04/2025 18:23

@mjaronewbie 4lb in a week is great! The doctor I spoke to said they aim for 2lb weight loss per week so you’re doing amazingly! I would be happy with 4lb as I find even with dieting etc I’m lucky to shift 1lb a week.
im so envious of you not wanting sweet things at the cinema - I’m such a sugar monster, I can’t wait for these cravings to go.

lovechocolate · 05/04/2025 18:33

Hi all, would love to join you all! I have been trying to lose weight for 4 months this time and have gone up, down, up down. Have lost 1 stone in that time but decided to take my first injection this morning as I need more help. I’m 15 stone now and want to get to 12. I’m very tall so 12 stone looked right when I weighed that many, many years ago! Great idea to have this support thread. Look forward to losing our weight!

Minuethippo · 05/04/2025 19:25

Took my first jab yesterday at 4pm. No side effects so far. This morning I woke up not hungry and only ate a salad at 2pm. I have had my dinner and feel full-ish now. Had some prunes in fear of constipation.

VoluptuousVillian · 05/04/2025 19:40

Hi everyone,
I was approved overnight by Medexpress so just awaiting dispatch now. I'd love to join you all please.
First things I've done is prep equipment and write a list of all the supplements and foods I need to buy ahead of starting properly next weekend.
I must say, I'm extremely glad I got a new set of scales, I was using some older style traditional scales. Well my biggest shock was even though I'd been calibrating the needle to zero, the scales were damaged internally and were out....by HALF A STONE!!! This has obviously shocked me because it means I'm a lot heavier than I thought.
So I'm now more determined to get this sorted.
I've always been "chunky" but I am definitely at my heaviest now. I'm a single mom to a wonderful and supportive teenage daughter and I'm very excited to introduce the new me to her when I finally achieve a weight I'm happy with 😊

W1D2 and my Fitbit is telling me that my resting heart rate has increased and heart rate variability is down. Neither of these are a good thing. A quick google suggests these are a common side effect, not a concern to doctors, and return to normal as soon as the medication is stopped.
Anyone else experienced this?

You might be coming down with something. I know I can sometimes tell if I am about to come down with a cold due to those two things changing.

Mounraine · 05/04/2025 20:19

Yes, it could be a coincidental infection.

TC4 · 05/04/2025 20:44

Ok maybe my second jab is doing something as I could hardly eat any dinner so we will see

I remember that my Fitbit recorded an infection back at the end of January, also both a leap in RHR and drop in HRV. Checking these, so far Mounjaro is not causing as much change as the infection did (if it is caused by Mounjaro). That's quite reassuring.

Did you lose any weight in your first week? Or experience any side effects?

I did yes I lost 5lb so quite happy with that as a kick start!! Not expecting losses like that each week though. Only had very mild side effects like a very slight headache one morning, and a sudden bathroom trip after a Mother’s Day chocolate waffle. Other than that all good. I have chose to weigh daily so I can see how I fluctuate over the month around my cycle and had a slight increase in Friday but then a slight drop again today although I think I’m going into the phase leading up to a period as I have the familiar back ache creeping in and slight bloated feeling so I won’t expect much over the coming days but we will see

Mounraine · 05/04/2025 20:58

Something for us to bear in mind then, lack of hunger suppression might not last long?
