Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Hi can I join, just taken my first jab this evening.

Have spent weeks reading these boards for tips and advice. Almost talked myself out of it by reading to much into side effects, but I'll deal with them if it happens.

Wondering whether to stock up on supplements, have multivitamins, fibre, electrolytes, peppermint capsules in my basket. Hesitating to check out might give myself some time and see if they are actually required.

What are you worried about happening? Remember, nothing is forever. If you get side effects, you can stop taking it. Worst case scenario, it will be a few days of chucking up, no worse than any virus.

But best (and statistically most likely) case, your blood sugar will level out, and you will lose weight and feel stronger and better x

Edited to say, MedExpress are a very normal company. My cousin, Auntie and BF have all been on their products for weeks / months (both Wegovy and Ozempic), with no ill effects or dodginess.

Edited

I’m not really worried about side effects as I’d just have to handle them if and when they happen but I just read some extreme stories (hospitalisation etc) but I think if you looked deeper it’s most likely people misusing it

Me too on stocking up! I'll deal with each thing if and when it happens!

@QS90 this is all I am hoping for, that it works just enough as a supplement to my healthy eating and exercise. And to reset my portion sizes.

The more I read, the less worried am about side effects. I just hope it works, and I'm prepared to try it for 3 months to be sure!

fourapples · 05/04/2025 07:37

Morning all, So glad I found this thread. I took my first injection yesterday afternoon (ordered from MedExpress). So far the only side effect has been a headache. I feel nervous about other potential side effects and also have this weird doubt that the injections will actually work. I don't know why but I just worry I'll somehow manage to over eat anyway.
CW 71.2kg GW 57kg - I'm only 5ft so carrying the 70kg is not great. I'm 44 and have put this extra weight on since a herniated disk and the resulting surgery that followed. I tend to be a big eater and managed it in the past by being active but the last 4 years have really gotten the better of me. Last time at GW was May 2021 and it just kept creeping up after my injury as I never got back into the habit of exercising after the long recovery from surgery. I'm hoping this will be the kick start that I need to get back into a healthy weight range again which will be more motivation to get back into the gym!
Looking forward to supporting each other on the journey.

Mounraine · 05/04/2025 07:44

Second night and no tight chest or weird taste in mouth.

66babe · 05/04/2025 07:57

End of 1st week - 4 lbs off - this is not my 1st week of healthy eating as I’ve been doing slimming world but losses slowed down to 1/2 lb a week so I’m pleased with that
Do feel some appetite suppression but unsure if that’s MJ or mindset as I’m determined
Will do 2nd jab soon as I get home from Tesco 😂.. just bringing forward from PM to AM
Absolutely no side effects at all

2025health · 05/04/2025 08:45

its 2nd jab day for me today. Round up of week 1
• I’ve had no side effects other than very mild nausea when I woke up on day 3, fixed as soon as i ate something
• I’ve had a couple of episodes of what I think is low blood sugar where I’ve not eaten enough. I’ve not struggled to eat at all but for the first time in my life I forgot to have lunch and i got super tired and lethargic. Banana to the rescue

• I have (even today) no desire to eat sweet stuff. Zero food noise on all the days but deffo felt appetite increase towards end of this week but still made good choices and it wasn’t hard to do so
• apart from the blood sugar thing I’ve been full of energy. 12k steps per day and been to the gym three times without dragging myself there- I’ve been dragging myself there once a week for a year against my will so, this feels like a massive mindset shift

overall the brain chatter has gone- I’ve realised part of the food noise for me isn’t about food but lots
of negative thoughts about being overweight. Now that’s lifted I feel great

let’s hope it continues! Oh and 3lb off this week

Doidontimmm · 05/04/2025 09:17

@66babe @2025health sounds like we are all at the same stage and doing similar. Woke up today after 2nd jab and feel a little nauseous. I’ve no energy though but it’s a really busy time at work and I’m mentally drained so most likely the reason.

Off out for lunch today so will be interesting my first temptation out, so far doing even feel like eating!

shrinkingthiswinter · 01/04/2025 20:54

Just popping in from the December thread to wish you all good luck and happy shrinking!

I’m down 18 kilos, BMI 35 to 29, UK size 18/20 to 14/16. Can’t believe it tbh.

What people are describing after first dose - feeling more satisfied with less food, less bothered about food, not wanting the cake/latte - that’s the effect.

I still feel hungry towards meal times but nowadays I eat at regular times so my body knows when it’s getting food and that’s it. I have breakfast including protein, lunch, Huel bar at 4pm, supper. So I never get too hungry and that helps me not overeat. Wherever possible I have lean protein plus vegetables. Chicken salad, skyr with seeds and fruit, chicken soup, vegetable and herb omelette, meat or tofu with roasted veg, prawn stir fry… I really enjoy food still, but am suddenly drawn to healthy choices.

Protein is important for feeling full and also maintaining muscle. Exercise is a really good idea for maintaining muscle and preventing regain in the long term, and also obviously looking and feeling better, including preventing wobbly skin.

Eating anything deep fried or melted cheese upsets my tummy. Otherwise only side effects are thirst and feeling cold.

It’s important to learn to listen to the feeling of fullness. I always liked to eat beyond it. Now I don’t, but I had to practise paying attention to it and stopping before I was over full.

Hope you are all some pounds off and starting to feel better by the end of the month!

Thank you for this, nice to have an insight a few months on.

66babe · 05/04/2025 09:47

@2025health@Doidontimmm
Well done on the loss , yes think most of us here are on week 1 or 2
I’ve just walked past all the Easter eggs and not in the slightest bit bothered ..
Enjoy your lunch out , let us know how it went

Kleovesp · 05/04/2025 11:30

Hi all, hope you don’t mind me joining!
Day 6 after my first jab. Feeling good, no real side effects apart from tired and achy day one and weirdly cold?? Have noticed my ‘cravings’ for chocolate and fizzy drinks is much less than it was but can’t help but this it’s more psychological than anything else? I also have mum guilt for spending this money on myself but I keep trying to rationalise it that having a happy mum/wife benefits everyone in the long run. Looking forward to official weigh in tomorrow but I have had a few cheeky steps on the scales and it’s looking good.

Lundier · 05/04/2025 11:36

I've done my first jab now. Observations:

  1. I thought it would hurt and I didn't feel it AT ALL. To the point I wondered if I had done it right. But no it is just a really fine needle.
  2. You click it round for ages and ages until you see the 1. I kept thinking oh no I've clicked past and wasted it. But no, it's just a lot of clicks.
  3. I felt no physical reaction bar my own nervousness and over-attention.
  4. I felt the urge to clean. I cleaned the whole house and swept the front pavement and did all the washing and ripped up all the cardboard for the recycling. I even cleaned out my desktop on my computer.
Galadali · 05/04/2025 11:41

First weigh in today and I'm 6lb down (first jab was on Monday but I officially started "the journey" on Sat). Very happy with that 😁

Only side-effect has been a slight headache which I suspect is more to do with my body detoxing from all the crap. Energy levels are up - I've just been up a ladder painting the outside of my house which would have been unthinkable just a couple of weeks ago!

I've been eating clean and low - average daily intake around 1100 cals and not feeling particularly hungry, although my issue is boredom/emotional eating rather than hunger.

I'm feeling excited for the next week and so pleased to be in a supportive group like this. Have a great weekend everyone!

SW 14st 12lb
CW 14st 6lb
GW 9st 7lb ish...

I concur with all of this!

I think the cleaning thing might be that you are mentally in "new beginning" mode. I'm feeling similar and am just taking a break from a job that should have been started years ago - painting the outside of the house.

No one mentioned number 4 as a side effect. I’m really worried now! 😳

RhaenysRocks · 05/04/2025 11:46

@Galadali similar here..including stats. I'm about 4.5lb down since Wednesday morning but I'm sure it's mostly water. Hoping I don't get suppression ease of before Tuesday PM. Next week is tricky as I'm staying away from home in catered accomodation. I'm not so much worried about temptation as availability / choice. I have a tiny mini fridge I can plug in in the room but I might have to spend a bit and eat on the hoof a bit. Any recommendations for protein bars that are not vile?

I’ve done the rounds with protein bars. In my opinion, the best ones out there are Grenade Carb Killa (any flavour) or Slimfast rocky road bars.
Good luck!

SW 217 lbs
GW 175 lbs
168 CM and 40 years old size 16.

Hello! Also an April starter here I have been following these threads for a while and I finally took my first jab last night. Very easy to do, much easier than I had been anticipating, didn't even feel the needle or the dose.

Not having too many side effects, the main ones have been:

  1. slight headache on waking this AM but fluids have sorted that out.
  2. do have a slightly dry mouth so ensuring I am keeping fluids up.
  3. belly gurgled for about an hour this morning but wasn't a hungry gurgle.
  4. didn't feel hungry this AM but I am never one for breakfast anyway but did try to eat some protein oats this morning just to ensure my protein intake is good.

I do feel like I am having less 'food noise' because usually when I am home, the children will leave some half eaten crisps etc and I will just eat them, but I've not even felt like it but I don't feel like I am off food, just don't need it? or want it because I'm bored? Not sure if that makes sense?

I hope to keep up with my strength training and walking, so I am ensuring I hit my protein intake. For my training I will do split sets earlier in the week and then do a full body workout towards the end of the week, probably Thursday before my next jab so I can fuel adequately for that work out.

SausageCatYellow · 05/04/2025 13:44

Bit of a random one, but does anyone else suffer from anxiety and noticed a reduction in this since starting? Since my first dose, I've felt an almost brain fog numbness. It would be great to hear if anyone else has experienced similar.

End of w1 for me. -4lb and that's been passively trying with no increased activity.

Aldi do a cookie protein bar in a 3 pack that are rather nice

Mounraine · 05/04/2025 14:52

That’s weird, I’ve started a deep clean this afternoon. Thought it must be TOTM stuff.

Mounraine · 05/04/2025 14:53

I have stopped because I feel very sleepy which isn’t like me in the day time.

SusanSometimes · 05/04/2025 15:29

I took my first dose yesterday at 7pm. Woke up early feeling bright and breezy, unheard of on a Saturday. I haven't felt hungry at all today (also unheard of) but have just made myself have a protein based lunch. No side effects yet. So far, so good!

Rosiejovi · 05/04/2025 15:35

Hi all, just thought I'd check in with you all. Like a few of you have said that are on day 6, the Jab seems to be wearing off for me. I really need to be more focused on the weekends as this is when we have 'fun family time' so for example, we're having an afternoon in the garden with nibbles and I'm actually really miffed I can't eat the snacks! DP wants to pop open some prosecco and I would love a glass but obviously, not a great idea! So I've decided to move my Jab day to Thursdays (last injection was on Sunday) so I'm going to inject tonight, then move again next week to Friday, the the following week I will inject on Thursday. I need the food noise out of the way on weekends! I will not fail! I've had a cheeky weigh in today and I'm down 7.8lbs so far, official weigh day is money so I'm wondering if I can hit double digits! Hope you're all enjoying the sunshine 🌞
