Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

Mine was rejected because my BMI is 30 on the nose :(

MrsCastle · 03/04/2025 07:53

Can anyone help?

I went through the process with ouschk on Friday and paid and haven’t heard a thing since?

I thought there would be an approval email in between this and receiving it - I had to specify a delivery day when I ordered

Can I ask if you all had a doctors check up before starting? I’m considering this but am worried 😟

I didn’t have one before ordering but I have a Dr appointment this morning relating to menopause. (I’m scared of taking HRT as well 😆) so will mention it then that I am going to start on Mounjaro.
I need to sort myself out so will also consider HRT too if that’s what she recommends!

There’s a menopause board here, but I can’t recommend HRT enough. As well as sorting the symptoms that bothered me (mainly brain fog impacting my ability to work), it improved a whole load of other things I didn’t realise were menopause related.

HRT is literally replacing the hormones your body has stopped producing - I think of it as less scary than WLI and more like insulin for people with diabetes. If the GP recommends it please do consider it.

Aboutmeabouttime · 03/04/2025 08:20

Not joining (started last month) but just to say - go look at threads of starters a few months ahead of you guys… gives good picture of people’s experiences (+&-), and there is a maintaining thread too which gives hope!
I was really nervous doing my first injection, felt sick from all the adrenaline in my system but 3 weeks in, 11lbs down, minimal side effects and nothing worst than how I was feeling being overweight and miserable.
Best of luck all x

wordywitch · 03/04/2025 08:24

Morning everyone! My pen arrived yesterday and my plan is to take it soon, I wanted to have breakfast and get myself sorted first. I’m a little nervous to take it because I’m having a horrendous period and don’t want to add to the misery of that but I’ve dosed up on painkillers so hopefully I’ll be okay 🤞

Growsomeballswoman · 03/04/2025 08:53

Can anyone link to the codes thread. I cant find it 😊

wordywitch · 03/04/2025 09:04

I did my injection a few minutes ago, though I managed to mess up a bit at the end and thought I was supposed to put the clear needle cap back on after disposing of the needle itself and now it’s jammed inside the pen lid 🤦‍♀️ Not a huge deal but I had to sellotape the pen lid on. Won’t be making that mistake again!

Stepfordian · 03/04/2025 09:05

I took my first dose last night, I haven’t had any side effects effects yet except I woke in the night feeling thirsty, which never happens to me. I’ve got the WW app so I’ve changed it to the GLP programme and I’ve had their suggested breakfast of 2 scrambled eggs with low fat soft cheese and spinach, I feel quite full but we’ll see how the day goes, I’m normally starving by 11am.

I might start tonight, not sure why I’m thinking of waiting! Probably nerves!!
Not sure if I will be able to inject myself either! May have to get daughter or husband to do it 😆
Good luck!!

It's a tiny needle, you barely feel it ❤

Hi everyone.
I'm just waiting for my first pen to be delivered. Apparently it has been dispatched...
I have a question though. My eating habits are very poor. I tend to snack on crap rather than eat proper meals. Do you think MJ will encourage me to actually eat proper food rather than rubbish?

I was the same (I started a week ago btw) I could t stop eating crap- not main meals but snacking all day on crisps biscuits chocolate etc.

I can’t tell you how different I feel- I’m not repulsed by those things now but I just feel indifferent to them… there’s no draw to eat them. I have not eaten a biscuit or a bag of crisps since I injected

Ive not yet had any major suppression / aversion so I can still eat but i’ve just fancied healthier choices. Honestly it feels weird, very different to how I was 7 days ago!

Hello! My starting weight is 99kg, I'm a size 18 and I'm feeling rubbish about myself after my relationship with food, overeating and sugar cravings have spiralled out of control the past couple of years after a messy divorce, losing a parent and lots of other life stuff.

Over the past year I've really enjoyed running but my weight has not shifted at all and I keep getting injured. I think my body is just too heavy to cope with the strain of running, it's so frustrating!!

I've had my first dose today and have lots of mixed feelings - hopeful, nervous, excited but also a little bit ashamed that I haven't been able to successfully lose weight the natural way. But I'm trying to be kind to myself and remember that this is a positive step for my future health - I have PCOS and a family history of diabetes and heart attacks so need to do everything I can to make sure I'm as well as I can be for my children!

It's so lovely to read your other experiences and know that I'm not alone on this journey!

Well done on making the decision. I held off for a year because I wanted to prove to myself I could do it on my own… I couldn’t and when you read these threads you’ll realise that so many people are / were in exactly the same boat. It’s hard to forget the impacts of diet culture and shame around weight- I’ve been in fantastic shape for most of my life but the last few years have been tough and i got through it by comfort eating… now I need a little help to get back on track. Wishing you a positive e experience

TimeToGetThin · 03/04/2025 09:34

I injected last night at 10.30pm. It was more fiddly than I’d expected but the Juniper video (although I’m using Pharmacy2u) was much more helpful.

I had a scone with cream and jam and a glass of milk before bed because I’d had my dinner before 5pm and was peckish. Woke up this morning and I’m actually hungrier than usual. I normally don’t eat until midday or later but am making my breakfast in a minute. So for now it has increased my food noise. I’m dreading being one of the cohort for whom it doesn’t work.

Also I’ve gained 2 and a quarter lbs this morning, up to 215 & 1/4lbs.

Feeling deflated and anxious.

Hi, my first Mounjaro pen arrives today 😬
Nervous & excited!
Might start on Friday.
Looking forward to following everyone else starting their journey. xx

Good luck, I will be one week in on Friday

wordywitch · 03/04/2025 11:06

@TimeToGetThin Try not to overthink things, it’s only been 12 hours since you took the first dose and most people say it takes 24-48 hours to start having even small effects. Just keep yourself hydrated and eat healthy meals and snacks when you’re hungry, and try to put it out of your mind for now.

I have WW as well which i didn’t realise I was paying for until recently 🤦🏼‍♀️🤦🏼‍♀️ I was going to cancel but then decided to keep it for a bit for some ideas, i didn’t know you can change it to a GLP program so il have a look at that, thank you

Can I ask if you all had a doctors check up before starting? I’m considering this but am worried 😟

I happened to start after a woman's health check up, as my weight really hit home and I had a good discussion with the nurse about Mounjaro, as she was also considering taking it. The appointment helped me get up the nerve to do it, but it wasn't necessary to get the all clear medically.
The prescribers have to take a full medical history before prescribing anyway. Mine also write to your practice, which I think is useful

I've also ordered my first pen so watching with interest (especially for meal ideas or any vitamins to avoid side effects).

Did anyone order with Pillsorted? They seemed to get good reviews, I've uploaded my videos and am just wondering how long before you get approval?

Good luck everyone, fantastic to see the positive stories.

Yes, I did. Approval and dispatch after sending the videos was quick (next day) and then I received the pen the day after that.

Yikes! After writing my latest positive post I clearly got too smug and now I'm being punished. Since yesterday I've felt very hungry and not really satisfied after most meals. I'm due to inject my 2nd dose of 2.5mg tomorrow so I'm wondering if it's simply a case of the medicine wearing off. It's annoying to be feeling hungry and thinking about food again. :( I know it's only early days though.

how long do the injections keep in the Fridge?

I’m the same @OpheliaABC , due my second injection tomorrow too!

how long do the injections keep in the Fridge?

If unopened, until expiry date.

If opened, up to 30 days. That's whether you store it in the fridge or in room temperature (up to 30C). So a refrigerated open pen doesn't have a longer life than an open pen stored in room temperature. Once opened, you have 30 days to use the pen. :)

Is that a bit tricky then as you extract the bonus dose - which would be week 5? 35 days?

Also do our suppliers expect us to puchase every 28 days ... and will there be a problem if you are puchasing every 35 days?
