Mounjaro April 2025 Starters

1000 replies

OpheliaABC · 26/03/2025 19:28

Anyone else starting soon/in April? I've seen there has been lots of threads for new starters for the previous months which looked helpful so I'm starting one too.

Starting weight: 98kg
Goal weight: 75kg

I will be starting either at the end of this week or early next.

I have a huge appetite, lots of cravings for junk food, and I'm hoping to get my portion sizes under control. Three members in my immediate family have now been diagnosed with diabetes and I'd rather not join them.

I'm having full blood work done in a few days to make sure I don't have deficiencies, thyroid problems or overly high blood glucose levels. Trying to give myself a full health MOT but I love my food so it won't be an easy ride. I can only hope this works for me and that my portion sizes will be halved without going hungry as I've seen happen to some people.

Welcome, if you are joining me! 😊

@SurreyGirl69 mine is coming tomorrow and I’m out for lunch on Saturday too. I’ve checked the menu and going to swap my usual sandwich and chips for a salad.

It's ok to eat an occasional treat, but you'll probably find that you want to eat less anyway. My DH and I would probably share the chips 😊

As long as everything is really cold it will be fine

My email from the supplier said - don’t worry if the ice has melted. It should still be cold but above all, check the fluid is clear not cloudy.

SausageCatYellow · 02/04/2025 15:24

Day 4 for me... already 3lbs down according to the scales.

The most interesting thing for me has been the natural draw towards more healthy foods. Assuming this is due to not having sugar crashes throughout the day? Im really enjoying my fruit and veggies!

Mounraine · 26/03/2025 21:06

How do you decide? I’m dithering

I’ve mulled it over for months, wanting to prove I could do it without medical intervention. I just keep losing and regaining the same half a stone. I’m so fed up with being fed up. I think about food all day. The only time I don’t think about food is when I’m eating.

Like me, and probably most of us, we have tried tradition methods of weight loss but then find the weight lost comes back. I have huge problems with eating sugar and pray that mounjaro will help me with this. I don’t want a heart attack, stroke, or diabetes so after many months of co soldering and reading, started my first injection today, so fingers crossed

Excited/scared/relieved I've made the decision!

This about sums me up too.

Same here, started today

I’ve not got cravings for sugar either anymore which is totally unlike me!

I’ve uploaded my id and video and have been approved. My first pen is on order.

I’ve gone with Lloyds pharmacy online. It combined the reassurance of an established high street name with a reasonable mid-range price. Now I’ve made the decision to do it I’m impatient to get started.

JMSA · 02/04/2025 17:51

First dose done! I felt a little bit stressy in case I wasn’t administering the dose properly, and I’m not sure any liquid came out of the pen when I prepped it. But the dial thingy went back to zero at the end, so I think I’ve done it right!
I’ve started Mounjaro on the back of an extremely strict, very low calorie diet for 10 days. I lost 10lbs on that alone. So I probably won’t get much of an initial loss on this. Still, at least I’m starting today with a cleansed body 🤣 And it will be so nice to go back to ‘normal’ food, albeit in small and healthy portions.

MrsB2389 · 02/04/2025 17:57

I’m over 48 hours in now. It’s definitely doing what it says on the tin. No food noise and once I’ve had my meal (no matter how small) I’m done. However, I’m feeling pretty weak and headachey. I’ve just realised apart from fruit I’ve not had any sugar since the weekend, and I’m also eating a good 500 calories less a day than usual. Perhaps my body just adjusting to the change in diets. I hope the headache doesn’t last too long.

Queenelsarules · 02/04/2025 18:08

Hi all, wondering how everyone is getting on. I had my first injection Monday evening and so far no obvious side effects. I think I can feel the effects already although may be placebo! I work in a school and we had a little party in class this afternoon, with chelated, crisps and cake, normally I would just have loads, and I just genuinely didn't want it, it wasn't all all hard to not have it and I wasn't thinking about it the whole time trying to resist it. It felt amazing.

Wow thats a great kick start - well done.

Hello! My starting weight is 99kg, I'm a size 18 and I'm feeling rubbish about myself after my relationship with food, overeating and sugar cravings have spiralled out of control the past couple of years after a messy divorce, losing a parent and lots of other life stuff.

Over the past year I've really enjoyed running but my weight has not shifted at all and I keep getting injured. I think my body is just too heavy to cope with the strain of running, it's so frustrating!!

I've had my first dose today and have lots of mixed feelings - hopeful, nervous, excited but also a little bit ashamed that I haven't been able to successfully lose weight the natural way. But I'm trying to be kind to myself and remember that this is a positive step for my future health - I have PCOS and a family history of diabetes and heart attacks so need to do everything I can to make sure I'm as well as I can be for my children!

It's so lovely to read your other experiences and know that I'm not alone on this journey!

Fatgirlslimmingit · 02/04/2025 20:19

Hi

Can I join? First dose today so Wednesday weigh in day.

Starting weight - 91.4kg

Starting to feel a bit queasy so hopefully that settles.

Maybe try more electrolytes and water? Most people lose a lot of water at first, when they start eating less. This can cause headaches and weakness. I like miso soup, to combat it a bit (itsu do some that you can get from Tesco), but there are lots of options.

Hope you feel better soon!

I thought I was having a placebo when I started on Friday, but I think for some people it just does kick in quickly!

I'm well off cakes too. Just went and did the big shop, and it was weird walking down the aisles, being totally unbothered by all the junk! Very surreal and not something I'd thought about before starting.

Is anyone else with Pharmacy2U?

I wanted a “big name” and didn’t want to pay Boots/Asda prices and also didn’t want to go for an unknown pharmacy with only a couple of hundred Trustpilot reviews that may be run out of someone’s back bedroom (even some on Monj.co.uk give this vibe).

However, I couldn’t find info on whether Pharmacy2U support maintenance and how low of a BMI will they still prescribe for?

If you're still looking, MedExpress is one of the bigger ones, and yes it does allow maintenance doses. Not sure about Pharmacy2U, sorry. You can switch to MedExpress though, and not have to start on the lowest dose again - just whatever you were on or due (so long as it hasn't been more than I think 8 weeks). So finding maintenance if and when it comes, shouldn't be an issue.

JMSA · 02/04/2025 21:30

@Skinni thank you!

screamingsiblings · 02/04/2025 21:40

Hi everyone.
I'm just waiting for my first pen to be delivered. Apparently it has been dispatched...
I have a question though. My eating habits are very poor. I tend to snack on crap rather than eat proper meals. Do you think MJ will encourage me to actually eat proper food rather than rubbish?

I really think it will.

I've really noticed that I don't crave junk since starting on Friday. It's uncanny. I suppose because you don't get sugar crashes, your body doesn't crave a boost.

shrinkingthiswinter · 02/04/2025 21:58

Yes, but it’s worth making this easy for yourself. Get some fruit and veg you like into your fridge. Mini cucumbers, mini carrots, ready cooked chicken breast? Eggs, protein yogurts? Walnuts, blueberries?

Bigfatsunandclouds · 02/04/2025 23:31

I have just had my first pen prescribed, still awaiting dispatch. I'm nervous and excited and decided I'm not going to tell a soul - so much scaremongering going on with it all and people are so judgey.

Raffles134 · 03/04/2025 06:52

Hi, my first Mounjaro pen arrives today 😬
Nervous & excited!
Might start on Friday.
Looking forward to following everyone else starting their journey. xx

Mounraine · 03/04/2025 06:56

Same here @Raffles134 but I don’t think I can wait until tomorrow.

I might start tonight, not sure why I’m thinking of waiting! Probably nerves!!
Not sure if I will be able to inject myself either! May have to get daughter or husband to do it 😆
Good luck!!

Growsomeballswoman · 03/04/2025 07:50

Can I ask if you all had a doctors check up before starting? I’m considering this but am worried 😟
