Good luck over the next few weeks. Loving all the ongoing support and encouragement.

Checking in on the new thread. Did my first 5mg jab this morning and no side effects so far. 7lb down overall, in 4 weeks. I’m happy with that!

I’ve noticed the weight coming off my face a little bit (sadly means my under-eye troughs/shadows are more noticeable, but I can live with that) but not really noticed it anywhere else so far. I’ve felt very tired the first few weeks but this week have felt a little more energy, so have been to the new gym I joined twice (after about 7 or 8 years of not going!) Turns out I’m still quite strong, which is reassuring. Now to see if I can keep it up.

Posted on the wrong thread initially oops! Just copying to here

W5 D1 - first day on 5mg

SW: 16st 5lb
CW: 15st 5.4lb

Just missed the stone by 0.4lb! So happy with that though. I expect it to slow down now which is fine. Can't believe I'm so close to the 14s already.

Marking my place here with a wee update:

Tales from the Scales:

SW: 16st 2lbs
CW: 15st 5lbs

  • 11lb loss in month 1

Totally thrilled with progress - at my lightest for over a decade after yo-yo-ing around 16 stones which was extremely depressing. MJ is working for me!

Side Effects: Zero! I'm a belly injector. No bad side effects since a headache/bleurgh feeling right after my 1st dose.

Eating: really clean, no takeaways or junk (not had crisps other than lentil waves (yum!) or chocolates or cakes/ biscuits at all). Eating loads of eggs, chicken, veg, yogurts, some fruit, porage, salads, soups - and as often as I want but getting full quickly. I'd rather eat 2-3 meals a day as I'm 48 and set in my ways - but with MJ I am learning than 5-6 very small meals or snacks works much better to keep hunger at bay and avoid over-filling and feeling urgh.

Exercise: my local pool has been closed so I get myself out for a brisk walk for 30 mins every day except a Sunday. I do lots of housework on a Saturday (I work fulltime) which balances out so I can relax on a Sunday. Back to the pool next week when it opens, and then back to the gym for strength training come the Easter hols.

Calories: Hitting about 1200-1300 average daily cals over the week. Feel hungry often but completely manageable and just grab a piece of fruit or a yogurt and it vanishes.

Mindset: Focused and determined and just reminding myself it's a marathon not a sprint as I've been obese all my adult life. The GLP studies were done over 72 weeks - and people lost on average almost the same % of body weight.. so I console myself I'm losing faster than some and slower than others.. it doesn't bother me at all because it's my race 😊

Helpful Tools:

  1. Water - water - water. This often squashes a hunger pang easily, especially in the evening when I'm happy I've eaten well but 'could do with a wee something..'.
  2. Coffee. I take a small decaf coffee if I'm feeling peckish but know it's not legit hunger. This suppresses my appetite for more than a couple of hours.
  3. Tracker. I bought a 'journal called 'My Health & Wellbeing Tracker & Journal' off Amazon - cute rose pink cover and super helpful trackers for weight, habits, journaling, setting goals and reflection etc. It is my best buddy and keeps me motivated and zen lol!
  4. Youtubers. I follow a few YT'ers on the same journey (UK 'real life vlog' style ones so I know it's actually real!!) I find this really encouraging and interesting as no one I know is on a GLP (or letting on that they are!)
Edited

This is such a great post!

Morning! Just checking in with end of week 5 results.

Highest weight - 16st 9.5
Mounjaro SW on 15.3.25 - 14st 12
CW - 13st 10

Loss this week: 2 lbs
Total loss on Mounjaro: 16 lbs (1 st 2)
Total loss overall: 41.5 lbs (2st 13.5)

Annoyingly half a pound shy of being 3 stone down in total (and I was 13st 9.5 on the scale yesterday but typically it’s bounced up again on my official weigh in day!). Ahh well next week I will hit it. Off to take me second 5mg dose :)

Ke11 · 22/03/2025 10:11

I'm starting to work on my fitness now, not sure what kind of effect it will have on my rate of loss, just have to trust the process I guess. Just finished my first swim in ages. I used to go before work about 3 times a week but an incident with a false fire alarm where we all had to sit at the side of the pool and awful timing of my (very physically fit and slim) next door neighbour happening to be there and coming over to talk to me made me want to run away screaming.

I managed 50 lengths or 1250 metres in an hour. My aim is to get back up to at least 100 lengths in the 90 min 6.30am session. It's always been something I loved and I've been swimming since I was 2.

Once I'm established with swimming again I'll start doing body pump and eventually I'll work my way up to the actual gym (my biggest fear). I'm planning to do a few sessions with a personal trainer to learn the equipment and get some sort of routine going, then hopefully once a month with a trainer to make sure I'm pushing myself enough, upping weights, difficulty etc. My sister sent me a great home workout plan she used over covid, I'm going to try that out for days I cant mentally face a gym.

i know what you mean about the gym! Would you mind sharing the home workout? Im just sticking to walking and have some weights at home for the moment. When i lose a bit more im going to start couch25k

LollyWillow · 22/03/2025 10:45

I've had a really busy week and am just catching up. It may be too late for you @Kate240but I wanted to say that I am with Second Nature. It's more expensive, but I was worried about side effects and felt that I needed the additional support. Also, I have lost weight with them before so I am used to their methods and ethos and felt that the continuity would be helpful for me.
In practice, I have had very few side effects. I get a headache the day after my injection but seem to be able to clear this with lots of water, the nausea is occasional and mild, and I've only had diarrhea once - last Sunday, so week 4 at 2.5mg - and it lasted less than 24 hours. It was very uncomfortable but not debilitating - I still managed to paint the bedroom ceiling 😀.

LollyWillow · 22/03/2025 10:50

I'm enjoying all the talk about exercise. I am a long time exercise refuser, but last year I started going to pilates and took swimming lessons. I joined a gym just before Christmas and although I am having trouble building going into my routine I am determined to make it work.
Thank you everybody for your exercise stories, which I am finding inspiring.

Catmum100 · 22/03/2025 11:45

I'm really enjoying being able to get back into exercise. I've always loved running and various classes at the gym, but as I gained weight, and with health issues, I couldn't manage as much. I'm starting to run again now, slowly! But i feel so much better for it already and I'm looking forward to being able to increase how much I do as it managed my stress really well.

Weekly weigh in, 4th 2.5 injection today.

SW: 13st 12
CW: 13st 3
TW: 11st ish

Slower off this week but I’ve had my period and constipation! Sorry for TMI.

SpiralSister · 22/03/2025 13:01

Hi lovelies! In a pair of size 16 jeans today and they are comfy! They are my actual size now.

It has been decades..😁

WLINewbie · 22/03/2025 13:30

Week 6, Day 1

Second 5mg dose this morning. Pretty underwhelmed with the past week on 5mg, not in a bad way, guess I'm just getting on with life. I think secretly I hoped to become one of those who struggle to finish a meal but then I don't really want that, it wouldn't be sustainable post MJ.

Still love the freedom from food obsession, the ability to stick to a calorie deficit and the fact that I currently have chocolate in the kitchen which isn't invading my every thought.

I'm making progress in the gym and starting to see get stronger :).

No mad side effects, I occasionally (as someone said above) feel a bit bleugh but nothing else. I have a bar of chocolate everyday and the odd greasy meal with no effects on my gut.

Medexpress emailed a couple days ago about ordering the next pen, it's too early to know right now whether I'll need to move up or not.

As for actual weight loss I have no idea of the numbers but cam definitely feel it in myself :).

@SpiralSister - same! Yay!

i bought some size 18 trousers a couple of days ago and was super thrilled I could get them on. However, DH pointed out they were actually too big… so today I tried a pair of 16s and was amazed to get them on and do them up!!

I’ve somehow put on 1kg over past 48 hrs though. Very very annoying. So close to tipping below 90kg but seem to have reached a plateau this week. Grrr.

Is anyone using medicine marketplace for their mounjaro? I’m tempted to switch from medexpress as I really need to move up to 7.5mg and it’s so much cheaper but it seems a hassle to switch

Last Day of week 8 on MJ
4 weeks on 2,5 mg
4 weeks on 5 mg

The last two weeks I had really bad side effects (stomache aches, nausea, diarrhea).
Today would have been my 9th injection (staying on 5 mg). However, I have decided not to do the next shot until I'm feeling much better. Suppression and weight loss are still happening so I guess postponing the injection won't do much harm. I'll just wait and hope to feel better soon.

SW: 292 lbs (132,5 kg)
CW: 271 lbs (122,8 kg)
Weight loss of 21 lbs (9,8 kg) in 8 weeks.

pjsandplants · 22/03/2025 20:25

Hi all, checking in on the new thread.
Lost 2lb this week, 12 overall. I was starting to feel snacking again so decided to move up to 5mg.

Did my first 5mg jab last night and couldn't stomach anything today! Made myself eat something in the afternoon but could only manage half a toasted teacake and still feel really full now! This is the first time I've felt rough since starting MJ. Hope it doesn't continue like this all week, I'm so tired!

No side effects though so can't complain really. Early night tonight and hopefully feel better tomorrow.

Well done everyone on your losses this week!

Maro11 · 22/03/2025 20:45

What a day, starving all day , no suppression and everything calling me, crisps, Easter eggs etc that I have happily bought but not touched in 3 weeks.

I didn’t give in but have had to go to bed 😭

Have snacked a fair bit on high protein snacks, but a lot more than I usually eat.

Don't know why today but it’s like this last jab has not worked at all on me and I had already purchased the second 2.5ml pen which has made me really worried now.

Anyone else have days like this? Did the suppression come back?
Next jab not until Thursday

Yeah, I have days like that. I think everyone does

I'm on my first week of 5mg and every day has been like that if I'm honest! It's rough but I just tell myself that it's a chance to practice good habits. I'm still confusing hunger and thirst sometimes which doesn't help.

mysparkleismissing · 22/03/2025 22:22

Evening All, don't think I've posted for a while hope everyone is okay

Done my 2nd 5mg jab on Thursday night and it's weird. I feel like I'm thinking about food MORE and reaching for food when there isn't any hunger (sometimes cos I know I need to get more calories in me as I've not eaten enough) but that feels a little worrying for a higher dose.

I've has some weird sensitive skin to touch for the last 24 hours, on the thigh a jabbed in on Thursday and then my arm. Weird! Seems to have passed now but it was super sore and sensitive.

Still been swimming and done one resistance session at the gym - hopefully squeeze in 2 more swims and 1 more gym session b4 wi on Tuesday morning.

So close to seeing 13 at the start, that's my hope for this week!

AugustLight · 22/03/2025 22:43

Hi 👋🏼 first time poster on here. I’m on week 2 of 5mg after the 4 weeks of 2.5mg. I had zero side effects on the 2.5 mg but since starting the 5mg I have felt extremely lethargic and light headed, even on days where I’m definitely eating enough. Any ideas how long these side effects may last? I don’t really want to drop back down to 2.5mg as was getting hungry off it, but don’t want these side effects to last for many more weeks!! Any tips? Or insight to how long these side effects have lasted for others after upping their dose? Thanks in advance xx
