Welcome one and all to the next instalment of our magical weight-loss journeys!

Good luck over the next few weeks. Loving all the ongoing support and encouragement.

Has anyone seen a badger? I’ve lost one!

NSV- have now lost 4 inches off my waist!

I'm so glad I've been measuring, its much easier for me to see/accept a change in my body.

I'd guess that it would be metabolising slower.

I've taken ibuprofen and it's worked fine.

Did you eat when you take the pills? You have to eat. Slice of toast, or a banana - something like that. Eat first then immediately take the pills. Painkillers just aren't as effective on an empty stomach.

I only ever take it with food, it's probably the slower metabolising. The slowing down of my digestive system is really strong, i can feel full from breakfast for the whole day so it would make sense. It's just frustrating that what usually works, isn't.
I've gone and got some ibuprofen gel to try, just applied it so fingers crossed it works.

MJSpideySenses · 15/04/2025 13:15

I'm going out for a bottomless brunch this afternoon. None of my friends know about the jabs. They think I'm just calorie counting. I'm hoping it goes OK!

More immediate issue is - I can't find anything to wear! I started in a snug 18 and can now fit easily into 16s and some 14s. I just don't have much to wear in those sizes. I can't buy a new outfit every time I go out, when I'm hoping I won't be this size for long. This is tough, I just look a mess.

ctrlaltdelete1 · 15/04/2025 13:24

SW:263 lb
CW: 247.2 lb
GW: 160 lb

so finally over the stone!

Have 7.5mg sitting in fridge for next dose but thinking 5mg is working quite well so regretting ordering the higher dose. Have contacted Zava to see if they have any advice. Wondering if I could order 5mg now and keep the 7.5mg for later - has anyone done that? I know I can take 5mg from the 7.5mg but it is much dearer and would end up wasting a load of it with the 30 day thing.

If a drug is metabolising slower generally I'd expect the effect to be stronger, not weaker....

Another horrendous nights sleep. Think it's the drop in estrogen due to the reduction in fat and I'm so reluctant to increase my HRT to attempt to compensate.

I went and bought some really nice belts. My dresses are all looking much better when I wear belts, then it won't matter if they are too big as I keep shrinking, as I'll have a nice defined waist etc.

I like all my dresses to much to thrown then away or donate them. I also don't want to keep buying new clothes every month or so

Has anyone found that painkillers, particularly ibuprofen isn't as effective? I pulled my calf muscle last week and then my lower back. I've been in constant pain for over a week but what usually works is barely touching it. I've had issues with my back for years but this is the worst it's been. I wonder if I should try an ibuprofen gel instead.
I tried dr Google but there wasn't a lot of evidence to suggest there's a link, other than the MJ being less effective

I’m wondering this about my antihistamines too. They’re not having any effect on my hayfever at the moment.

Agree, belts have been my best friend over the last month or so.

Where did you get them from?

I am looking for a wide leather belt to nip in some of my dresses

Have you tried Vinted? You can sell what no longer fits to fund what does. It's my favourite way to shop now x

I've no idea how it all works to be honest.
I hope your sleep improves

PurpleCoo · 15/04/2025 15:00

@Febnewbie

I got a couple from Accessorise (sort of wife straw woven ones, got one in black and one in cream)

I got a great wide leather one from Fatface

Yeah same, i've got a really painful hip and while I wait to see the physio I'm relying on ibuprofen to get me through work. It definitely is not working the same as it used too!! Took tablets at breakfast but it took hours to even feel any relief ! Also went to buy ibuprofen gel today...

Lola50 · 15/04/2025 16:05

@WLINewbie same! I dropped to 3mg from 5mg and and starting to feel a lot better. Most noticeable in my energy levels.
Agree about the total suppression - I found it miserable and am
able to eat and enjoy a bit more now. The great joy is that food noise has not resurfaced at all.
I watched a video the other day and the doctor was talking about ‘appetite control’ rather than ‘appetite suppression’ - that really resonated with me.

It would take longer to get into your blood stream though. Generally it takes 20 minutes for ibuprofen/paracetamol to start making its way into your blood stream. But if your stomach is taking much longer to break the tablet down then it would enter the blood stream slower meaning you wouldn't feel the effects quite as dramatically, meaning the relief from the pain wouldn't feel as strong.

But I have absolutely no medical knowledge and can't honestly say whether I'm just talking out my ever decreasing behind - I'm being Dr feels like that makes sense😂

That’s correct, it takes much longer for oral medication to be absorbed into the bloodstream when on Mounjaro, so of course it takes longer to feel the effects. My migraine medication barely works now, though luckily I’ve had much fewer since starting Mounjaro.

Absolutely this! I’m doing one in, one out on Vinted, and it’s great! I’ll do it all again when I go down another size..

As to belts, I’m looking. I only had one in the first place, and that’s now too big..

I saw your post earlier and meant to reply.

My peripheral neuropathy seems to have gotten worse, which is odd because weightloss and giving up smoking are 2 of the best things for it (I've done both) Different kind of painkiller but it is very much like my Gabapentin is not working as it has done for the past couple of years. I can be awake all night with stabbing pains and really painful pins and needles in both feet, which hasn't happened since before I was diagnosed.

Sorry to the person who mentioned their antihistamine, I'd scroll up but my connection is rubbish.
A couple of months back I had hives all over my body due to stress. Was prescribed a strong antihistamine with a sedative effect (yes please thank you doctor!) my PN got worse when I was taking those, so the sleep I was so seeking was not happening basically.

It turns out that the drowsy ones work on the central nervous system as does Gabapentin. It's like they were fighting each other and my feet and hands were losing.

That's how it's been with MJ since I've gone up to 7.5.

It's odd. I'll see how it goes. I'm quite happy for my GP to know I'm on it. Overweight, menopause, 50, prime candidate for type 2 diabetes, high blood pressure - all changing for the better now. What's not to like?

I suppose any medication affects your CNS as its all coming via brain receptors. I don't want to make mine worse though!

Oh well.

I'm only 2lb out of the 12's! I couldn't believe when I got out of the 14s for the first time in 15 years! Hopefully not too long to go until maintenance. If I go under 11 at 5'8 I do look quite skinny.

I'm waffling!

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 15/04/2025 20:53

@TheBuffetInspector Please, waffle away! Sorry to hear about your other health issues, it's hard to know what to focus on first. Hopefully the weight loss will have a positive influence on everything else.

That's amazing that you're so close to the 12's, it's an amazing feeling when something actually works, I'm really pleased for you x

Thank you, genuinely!

I am now wondering if some other meds I'm on aren't working as well for the same reason.

OMG. Week 9 Day 2
2nd dose of 5mg was on Sunday night.
and the appetite suppression is out of control
bought a croissant for breakfast. Could not eat it. Had a tiny piece from the end. Could not bear the thought of my yoghurt.
For lunch I bought some boiled eggs, spinach, smoked salmon pots and picked at it.
have put both the pots and my yoghurt back into the fridge at work……

then took my team out for a planned dinner. Could barely eat a thing.

Christ. Hope this wears off before the weekend.

unsure I want to try 5 again on Sunday…..

has anyone else found this? Did it get better?

am feeling very queasy now. Not sure what to do with myself!!

and I find I am clenching my jaw more…..

tbh feeling very sorry for myself. Last of my first block of 10 PT sessions yesterday and I’m so sore today! Can barely walk. Bound to be worse tomorrow….
and. I received a fine for dropping my friend off at Gatwick last month. Didn’t even think. Drove straight thru. Was there for 2mins. Drove home. Forgot about it when I got home. Would have been cheaper to park up.

wish there was the ability to pay on the way out of the drop off. So I would not forget.

it’s very anti neurodivergent people or forgetful people or even busy people.

how do people remember to pay after they have driven home?! It’s a £100 fine!! What’s the secret - not to drop off?! When I picked her up I parked up and so paid a car parking charge.

of course I scooted in and dropped her off and was probably mattering to missed the signs on way in. Don’t remember seeing a sign on way out and of course they don’t give you a ticket to remind you.

2 mins £100.
such a Swizz.

anyway. Hope everyone else is having a better day than me!!

Hangryfastjo · 15/04/2025 21:09

@strongermummy the first 2 weeks on 5 i found really hard. I stopped drinking coffee as that was filling me and leaving no room for food. I ate a few more carbs than I wanted to, but found that helped. I ate little and often. It passed by next jab

Hi, yeah I struggled on 5mg, have posted quite a few times about it (not that expecting you to find them, they just get absorbed in all the other posts). I didn't enjoy the high suppression and dropped to 3.75 on Saturday, feel much better and more energy.

Can't help with the ticket, its odd that there would be no barriers to get out

Can’t help much with the 5mg, I’ve barely felt any difference from 2.5mg so far and did my second 5mg on Monday. Things should settle down as your body gets used to it.

With remembering to pay for stuff like the airport, I ask Siri to set a reminder on my phone. We have a toll bridge near us, you can use it and pay later but if you forget it’s a fine. As soon as I drive onto the bridge now I set a reminder because otherwise I’d forget. Between AuDHD and peri-menopause I’ve no chance on remembering 🤣
