Good luck over the next few weeks. Loving all the ongoing support and encouragement.

That's fair enough- although why is that? The total loss would be the same?

Not trying to be goady, just trying to understand.

Because I am worried that I won't lose at all given that most of the time I have been on MJ, I haven't

Taylortaylor · 09/04/2025 11:36

@sweetpickle2 I am probably similar as @Febnewbie about being disappointed about weightloss in the 8/9 weeks. I’ve lost 12lbs which again I know you are right that it would take me months of yo-yo dieting to lose so I am so happy I’ve lost weight, not gained as would generally happen to me after a couple of months of initial losses on whatever diet I happened to be on. Plus I am so so close to an overweight BMI, not obese category.
For me, my doctor was very clear that I needed to lose 6% in 3 months to continue with it. I will need to lose approx 7pounds in the next 4 weeks to hit that criteria. Now I’m asking myself why aren’t I getting big losses? Why am I maintaining each week? I’m really hoping after my final 5mg jab, that I’ll move up and get the losses I need to keep going.
I am in Ireland and it’s a lot harder and more expensive to get MJ so investing in myself is exactly the right thing to do but it does leave a niggle with me that I paying through the nose this month to stay obese 🫣 and feel like shit with nausea!!

In saying all that, I have zero regrets and am great for having a lower BMI, less inflammation and my clothes fit better.

obsessedlex · 09/04/2025 13:47

Totally agree re PEPTO BISMOL it works wonders, can be swigged every hour or so, no more than 8 in 24hrs, however, be warned it does make your poo very black, which i found very alarming and thought I was dying until I checked out the reported side effects online!!

Mounjaronewbie25 · 09/04/2025 13:59

Today is the worst I have felt since starting Mounjaro. Awful cramps, nausea and diarrhoea. Then vomited up what looks like last nights dinner, completely undigested. No wonder I felt so terrible with that sitting in my stomach all night and this morning. Grim.

Everyothernamewasalreadyinuse · 09/04/2025 14:35

Afternoon all,

Just a check in, still on 5mg though weight loss has stalled the past couple of weeks and portion sizes are creeping up but not to the point where loss should have stopped completely. Am regretting ordering another 5 mg pen now, which i am gutted about as flipped and flopped over re-ordering. Think it is going to be a rough 4 weeks. Am gutted as did not want to move up the doses quickly.

Am thinking of trying to do a re-set, so a couple of days just eating eggs / Soup to try to kick start me again. Anyone else tried similar or advice appreciated.

SweetPeaGirl · 09/04/2025 14:47

Thank you for the welcomes 😊

@Febnewbie I think it's actually quite normal to not lose weight some weeks then have have a big 'whoosh'. It happens to me a fair bit and I think actually the fat loss is probably quite consistent, but it gets disguised by water retention or (TMI) constipation, or whatever. Personally I've been eating quite consistently and then by the scale one week gained 1lb, then the next week lost lost 6lbs. It's a lot more likely I actually lost 2.5lbs each week but with a lot of bloating covering it up. For me it's hormonal...

Febnewbie · 09/04/2025 14:52

@SweetPeaGirl I think the thing is that it's not just "some weeks" that I am not losing, it's most weeks. I would be ok with some weeks.

PurpleCoo · 09/04/2025 09:10

Actually, your post highlights your own lack of awareness, knowledge and understanding. For those of us that understand research methodology and medical trials, we know that they have to stick to very strict protocols to ensure everyone goes through the same rigourous process, hence why it's X dose for c amounts of weeks and then move up etc. People are excluded from trials who don't meet rigid criteria.

In reality, things are used differently in real life and evolve as knowledge develops with off schedule dosing and administration. I am equally baffled by people who just mindlessly follow the dosing schedule without paying attention to their own bodies and experiences, and are then baffled when they have horrendous side effects, can't eat at all and are losing weight too quickly, don't learn good habits and then can't maintain the gains they made. Also put themselves at risk of gallstones.

People administer different doses to what they are prescribed all the time. I was prescribe transexamic acid, 5 days max, 3x 2 tablets. I never took that dose once! I started on 2x2 for 2-3 days and eventually settled on 2x1 over 2 days. I had conversations with my pharmacist about what most people actually take with what is actually prescribed, and it's a normal and common thing.

People take less than needed to avoid side effects and risks associated with taking medication. It's not the same as taking antibiotics where stopping the course early leads to an increased risk of creating super bugs!

What a load of bollocks 🤣

ExplodingCarrots · 09/04/2025 16:29

First week on 7.5mg and a 4.2lb loss for me . I did find the first 3 days very tough and I hardly ate anything . I am going to get some huel shakes for lunch for the days I feel like I can't eat anything . People are starting to notice my loss now which is nice . Things that were very tight are now baggy.
SW - 190lbs
CW - 164lbs
26lbs off in 9 weeks .

What a load of bollocks 🤣

What is bollocks exactly?

I have worked in healthcare for 30 years. I have multiple research based degrees including a research based doctoral level thesis. I have won prizes for research. I am currently leading a research project in the NHS. I peer review research proposals in the NHS. I have years of formal education in research methodology. I work in a medical setting where medicines are frequently prescribed off licence. I refer patients to specialists to requests off licence prescriptions or request GPs to prescribe medications.

It's unclear from your post what your research and clinical experience is, and what training and experience you have in excess of my professional background that makes you think what I say is bollocks. I am curious to hear what evidence your opinion is based on

Probablyawake · 09/04/2025 18:43

Has anyone experienced a rash at their injection site? It has happened for my last two doses now. I always change the site but always on my stomach. Wondering if I should change to arm/thigh.
It goes within the week before the next one is due, but just seems odd after 9 weeks!

aylis · 09/04/2025 19:23

I think today is the first time I've felt truly hungry on 5mg which is very welcome. However it's coinciding with being absolutely bored of food and I don't know what to eat 😆It's not that I'm craving anything sugary or a takeaway, that's still unappealing, but currently so is all food. There is not a single thing that I feel I actively want to eat.

Jumped on the scale for an unofficial mid-week weigh as well and the scale hasn't moved a bit, and that's after less than 1lb off last week. I don't feel too disheartened though as if this was without mounjaro I'd probably already have started putting the lost stone back on.

Yes ive got a rash from last friday still, which was week 9. First time. A few weeks ago I had a yellow bruise, which was odd. Also a stomach jabber!

Anyone finding meal planning difficult since starting mounjaro?

I've always been 'in charge' of putting together a meal plan, shoppings lists etc (I'm part time vs husband's full time) but since starting mounjaro, I'm finding it so hard - I just don't care any more! Meals don't excite me in the same way and I no longer 'look forward' to whatever is on the menu. Often I get to tea time and I'm just not hungry anyway!
Tbh it's not ideal as I'm probably not eating the most nutritious choices by running the fridge down, so do need to do something about it!

I can agree with this!

Why do so many just ignore the titration schedule? I see so many people just making up their own doses.

Look up stratification. In a nutshell; our bodies are all different and medical trials - on which titration schedules are based - can only ever present averages from across relatively small sample sizes compared to the millions of people now taking the medication. I think by the time someone is making an informed decision to take a GLP medication, it is an empowering thing to be able to adjust according to your own body's needs and responses.

Also remember; the titration 'schedule' is set by who..? The people who make and sell the medication for literally millions, and possibly billions in profit... food for thought.

DelightfullySoSo · 09/04/2025 21:11

SmurfKingdom · 09/04/2025 08:18

It’s not just going up a dose, it’s the counting clicks, inventing their own doses, going up and down. People wouldn’t mess about so much with other medication, so why do it with this? The titration schedule was created for a reason and based on medical trials. People just seem so blasé about it, it’s no wonder they have had to crack down on usage and I can see it needing to be made even stricter. Everyone seems to think they know better.

Edited

I am 'counting clicks' because I was on 2.5mg and started having strong appetite again for a few days but suddenly suppression returned but it was too late to stay on 2.5mg as I had to order my next pen or risk being without any at all.

So I decided as a grown, educated and informed adult to take half of a 5mg pen dose to remain on 2.5mg.

Not exactly maverick behaviour. I'm sharing this perspective because in a shorthand post I might say 'I take 30 clicks' and you may read into that I'm messing about with doses.

I am sure there are some people who actually are messing about; but they're probably the same people that mess about with other medications, or binge drink, or smoke pot are in other ways less than perfect with their bodies. Live and let jab :)

How long has he weight loss slowed/stopped? By slowed, what do you mean? How much are you actually losing? You shouldn't be aiming for more than a 1lb or 2 every week anyway, and the big losses you get in the first few weeks reduce to something more steady. If it's just a week or so of no losses, it could be due to various things, TOTM, or just your body readjusting/recalibrating.

Last weigh in was -0.6lbs (6th weigh in) and so far this week STS so grinding to a halt. I know I probably sound impatient, I'm just panicking as I desperately need this to work for me. Less than half a pound loss when I'm in a significant deficit is freaking me out. No idea when my 'time of the month' actually is anymore thanks to perimenopause 😂so I will blame covid / inflammation for now and hope for the best on Saturday at my 7th weigh in..🙏

Any thoughts on moving down to 3.75mg from 5mg? The suppression is so absolute on 5mg that I can’t even force myself to eat now. I don’t feel particularly sick, but I don’t feel healthy either. This has only happened on second 5mg pen. Any advice appreciated

Same, I'm really not loving 5mg and not eating properly on it so for next jab I'm going to 3.75.

ivegotthekeyivegotthesecret · 10/04/2025 05:32

5kg down in 7 weeks for me. That's exactly where I want my weight loss to be so I'm very happy. Still on 1750 calories and 3.75mg and feeling pretty good all in all.
Great to have sailed through a set point I've struggled with for years too.

OntheTrainX · 10/04/2025 07:00

I didn’t feel great on 5mg but I stuck with it. I didn’t go up to 7.5 the next time.

Zibb · 10/04/2025 07:31

Other than low mood I haven't had any side effects on 5mg, good or bad. So no nausea or sulphur burps but also I constantly have food noise/head hunger, I never feel full for long. It's been horrid compared to how I felt on the previous dose. Is it the jab or is it just my brain? Idk.

I've decided to go back to 2.5mg. I know that technically I should still go up to 7.5mg if I feel that 5mg isn't working for me but I don't want to risk the low mood getting worse. If I feel better then great, I'll stick with 2.5mg even if it's only giving me minimal benefits. If I still feel horrible then I think I will stop taking MJ rather than go up. At least for a while to get the depression under control and then consider starting the jabs again.

Oushk and my GP are on board with the plan.

SW 16st 10
CW 15st 4

end of my 7th week. I stayed on 2.5mg and had had a couple of weeks of low on no loss then 2 lb this week. Still getting high suppression low food noise and feel full fast so again stuck with what to do. I don’t want to go up a dose and get more nausea. Thinking of ordering some needles for a bonus dose. But not sure if I should order 5 mg and count clicks or stick with 2.5mg as so far only mild nausea and mild headache the day after the jab and feel full etc on the low dose. Anyone stayed on 2.5 mg for a long term period?

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 10/04/2025 07:46

Weighed in day, another .9kg/2lb gone and I'm now overweight instead of obese!

SW 82.6kg
CW 74.4kg

Still not setting a target weight, this is my last pen so I'm hoping to get close to 70kg and then carry on with just willpower 😳
