Welcome one and all to the next instalment of our magical weight-loss journeys!

Good luck over the next few weeks. Loving all the ongoing support and encouragement.

Has anyone seen a badger? I’ve lost one!

Unsure of what to do next. Had 2 doses of 5mg and a message off supplier to prompt me to order the next one. I’m thinking I may stay on 5mg for the next one as I’m still getting losses. But a quick question… the pens are for 30 days once you start using them not from delivery date aren’t they? Don’t want to order too early and not be able to use it by the time I get to dose 4!!

alwayshavebeenfemale · 08/04/2025 20:31

@GrannyDoounI am in a similar boat. I can't think about or face food when feeling nauseous so I've just ordered a 1 week supply of Habitual meal replacements. I'm not sure how I feel about this but I go on holiday a week tomorrow and will be doing an awful lot of walking and want to stop any 'shaky' moments. I'm hoping that proper Vits and mins will set me up for an epic walking (but also eating and drinking) holiday. Give me a week and I can let you know how I get on!!!!
And welcome. Im here for the long haul with a lot to lose! X

DelightfullySoSo · 08/04/2025 20:56

Do you go up a dose if you're having good suppression but loss has slowed/stopped? I'm worried as I don't want any more suppression or I won't want to east at all...! Eating 1200-1300 cals a day, more than 4stone still to lose.. just had covid and wonder if that can slow loss down?

How long has he weight loss slowed/stopped? By slowed, what do you mean? How much are you actually losing? You shouldn't be aiming for more than a 1lb or 2 every week anyway, and the big losses you get in the first few weeks reduce to something more steady. If it's just a week or so of no losses, it could be due to various things, TOTM, or just your body readjusting/recalibrating.

Nicecuppatea2025 · 08/04/2025 21:39

Jab day!

W11D1
SW 103.9kg
CW 88.6kg
= 15.3kg total loss / a large Calor gas bottle

BUT less than a 1kg loss this week. Need to get my head back in the game as getting impatient now. Had a pic taken with some friends today and I’m still very clearly ‘the big one’ in the group, which arises the demons.

On the plus side…

  • Now below 14 stone, after being over 16 stone when I started!
  • Half way to goal!

Congrats on everyone’s losses and NSVs so far x

I went awol for a few weeks and trying to catch up on some of the messages.
I am in awe of everyone and the weight loss and NSV being achieved. Well done 👏👏
The total loss for me is 12lbs and I’m hovering exactly at 30BMI. It’s not nearly enough of a weight loss in the 2 months especially as I should lose 6% in 3 months according to doctor.
Ive maintained the last 2 weeks on 5mg which is really bothering me. I am nauseous and slightly anxious a lot of the days on 5mg, my food choices aren’t great due to the nausea so I am picking and snacking instead of eating a well balanced meal. My food habits haven’t gone away even though the suppression is there so I figure I’ll be in this for the long haul provided I get the prescription from doctor each month.
I should be having better results so I think for me I’ll move up to 7.5mg after my last injection next week and I’ll need to start tracking food. It was so liberating not to have tracked or calorie counted for last 8 weeks but its time to be more focused.

HoratioBum · 08/04/2025 22:53

@GrannyDooun
i don’t use meal replacements insofar as I don’t use protein shakes and the like, but I am eating ready meals like the Asda calorie controlled ones, or the weight watchers ones. Or any ready meals which when I look at the calories seem reasonable.

I find it much easier to log the calories in a ready meal rather than trying to guess or weigh 100gm of broccoli / onions/ whatever.

also because I have such little interest in food, cooking big meals sometimes feels beyond me at the moment. Don’t knock yourself out. I rationalise it to myself that any nutritional losses from a ready meal are a gain when set against what I used to be able to pack away in terms of chocolate,
crisps and wine.

Ke11 · 09/04/2025 06:07

@GrannyDooun i have a huel shake for one meal every day, usually it's for breakfast, sometimes it's for dinner. On my jab day I will have it for 2 meals because I really struggle to be interested in eating for the first 12-24 hours

SmurfKingdom · 09/04/2025 06:56

Why do so many just ignore the titration schedule? I see so many people just making up their own doses.

Because we know our bodies best and what works for some doesn't have to work for others?

Whilst I'm also obese, my starting weight was significantl below the people in the trial and I also exercise a lot more. I have no interest in being on Mj any longer than I need to be so I don't want to titrate up to a high dose.

SweetPeaGirl · 09/04/2025 07:40

Hi everyone, I'm new here but started MJ end of Feb so thought this was the place to check in.

I've done 6 full weeks and had my 7th dose yesterday, lost 19lbs so far.

I'm so so glad I decided to give MJ a go. I've tried really hard to diet in the past and done well for a few weeks or months, but the energy and discipline to keep it up fades away. But with this it's so much easier because it's stopped me being obsessed with food. I don't actually feel like I've been dieting at all because I've been eating what I want... I just want less, and definitely less 'junk' food!

TBH it all makes me feel quite emotional because it's such a relief.

Nicecuppatea2025 · 09/04/2025 07:53

Hi @SweetPeaGirl and congratulations on your progress.

Can relate to the emotion!

It’s not just going up a dose, it’s the counting clicks, inventing their own doses, going up and down. People wouldn’t mess about so much with other medication, so why do it with this? The titration schedule was created for a reason and based on medical trials. People just seem so blasé about it, it’s no wonder they have had to crack down on usage and I can see it needing to be made even stricter. Everyone seems to think they know better.

Hi @SweetPeaGirl and congratulations on your progress.

I can too! Welcome, @SweetPeaGirl !

It’s such a revelation, all this. I’m really enjoying looking after myself as well. I’ve realised that I’ve neglected myself for years. Decades. The head space freed up by not having a never satisfied hunger, the inner arguments about what I actually needed, what I wanted, what I would feel like afterwards blah blah blah oh bore off! 😂

I now take supplements. I moisturise properly. I have lovely nutritious meals and drinks and neck the water.

Having said all that, I definitely let go a bit over the weekend away - not on food so much, but with keeping DH company with a few more drinks than perhaps I should have. Still vastly less than I would have before MJ, but still. And I didn’t really want them. Need to figure that one out for the next holiday, next month.

On my first week of the second month of 5mg. Definitely not as much as suppression, boo! I think it will be 7.5 next time..

Hope everyone’s week is going ok, and solidarity to those suffering side effects 💐

FunnyCrabDance · 09/04/2025 08:58

I'm not sure I've seen this recommended much on here, more on fb groups but PEPTO BISMAL!!
Absolutely brilliant for sulphur burps and gurgling tummies, tastes grim but worth it!
I've enjoyed a few days away and eaten a few things I've avoided until now, (battered cod, chocolate brownie and local cider being the worst offenders for Sulphur burps so far) Think I will have maintained this week (week 4 of 5mg).

Actually, your post highlights your own lack of awareness, knowledge and understanding. For those of us that understand research methodology and medical trials, we know that they have to stick to very strict protocols to ensure everyone goes through the same rigourous process, hence why it's X dose for c amounts of weeks and then move up etc. People are excluded from trials who don't meet rigid criteria.

In reality, things are used differently in real life and evolve as knowledge develops with off schedule dosing and administration. I am equally baffled by people who just mindlessly follow the dosing schedule without paying attention to their own bodies and experiences, and are then baffled when they have horrendous side effects, can't eat at all and are losing weight too quickly, don't learn good habits and then can't maintain the gains they made. Also put themselves at risk of gallstones.

People administer different doses to what they are prescribed all the time. I was prescribe transexamic acid, 5 days max, 3x 2 tablets. I never took that dose once! I started on 2x2 for 2-3 days and eventually settled on 2x1 over 2 days. I had conversations with my pharmacist about what most people actually take with what is actually prescribed, and it's a normal and common thing.

People take less than needed to avoid side effects and risks associated with taking medication. It's not the same as taking antibiotics where stopping the course early leads to an increased risk of creating super bugs!

WoolerOwl · 09/04/2025 09:28

I had a slightly larger than (now) usual meal last night, as we cooked for friends. With a small piece of cheesecake and fruit for dessert. Also later than I would normally eat. Acid, sicky burps all night. Need to learn from this!

Febnewbie · 09/04/2025 09:59

I'm in a similar space to @HoratioBum and @Taylortaylor - took my last dose of 5 yesterday. In total, have lost 13lb, very close now to no longer being obese.

As an average that's 1.6lb a week - which sounds fine but it's been very inconsistent, 2-3 week plateaus and then a few lb off at once. I am going up to 7.5 in the hope of getting to a point where I am losing consistently every week and preferably more like 2lb a week.

I feel better in myself and fit into some of my smaller clothes but it's not transformational at all.

I also have yet to tell DH. He and I had a conversation last night about a friend who has lost a lot of weight and DH reiterated his view that he thinks the injections are expensive and pointless and people will put the weight back on afterwards. So not feeling that positive about telling him. I was sort of hoping my weight loss would be so great that I could then show him the results faster but they hasn't really been the case.

sweetpickle2 · 09/04/2025 10:13

Can I ask you @Febnewbie - how long would it have taken you to lose 13lb without the jabs? For me personally, it would have taken months if ever to do it with my own willpower.

To me, your loss seems incredible for the time you've been taking the medication. I know its very easy to get swept up in some of the big losses happening here, but I worry that some people think that the jabs are a magic bullet that are going to make you drop 4 stone overnight, when they're not at all.

Why do you think that 1.6lbs a week is not a good loss?

sc0ttishlass · 09/04/2025 10:18

Jab day here, starting week 10 at 25lb down - half way point to goal weight here too @Nicecuppatea2025 1lb off this week which i've decided to be delighted about - previously I was going up and up - 1lb off is amazing to me.
Loving all the chat above - @SpiralSister likewise - I am caring for myself more than ever which at 47 is ridiculous! Moisturizing a lot (treating myself to a Dr. Jart face mask which are meant to be amazing - £9 so pricey but i think i deserve it!)
also just not spending the time thinking about food all the time is such a breath of fresh air - I honestly feel like I have so much more time on my hands! and the water intake is bound to be do lots of good.
FYI i took bonus dose today on 5mg pen, staying on new 5mg pen for next one as I'm feeling good..
Have a great day everyone!
PS @FunnyCrabDance have you seen the advert for pepto on Tv - such a catchy tune that my daughter keeps singing ' if youve got nausea heartburn indigestion, upset stomach - or diahorreaaaaa!' - too funny.

Febnewbie · 09/04/2025 11:00

@sweetpickle2 It's not the total amount of loss, it's more than out of the 9 weeks, I have not lost weight in 6 or those weeks.

I would be happier if I lost 1.5 steadily every week rather than losing in fits and starts

Shefliesonherownwings · 09/04/2025 11:02

I can definitely endorse Pepto Bismal too, wonderful stuff for combatting nausea and tummy aches. I also find peppermint tea really good for gas and digestion too.

That's fair enough- although why is that? The total loss would be the same?

Not trying to be goady, just trying to understand.
