Welcome one and all to the next instalment of our magical weight-loss journeys!

Good luck over the next few weeks. Loving all the ongoing support and encouragement.

Has anyone seen a badger? I’ve lost one!

Interesting to hear that others have struggled at 5mg too. I had a horrendous week with it last week, felt permanently full and off food, have gone down to 3mg today.

HoratioBum · 08/04/2025 07:58

Weirdly my experience of 5mg has been a bit meh- will be my 4th week this week and I’ve felt food noise creeping back in a bit - suppression has been ok but the desire to make bad choices with my limited calories has been a bit of a struggle. I’m going to power up to 7.5mg rather than hang about on 5mg to see if that’s the dose that I feel best on - 2.5mg wasn’t great for me either. I’ve lost 2lb a week on 5mg so can’t complain but I havent seen any losses bigger than that which can be dispiriting if I let myself dwell on it.

I have to tell myself that the MJ is making it easier for me to lose weight than at every other time I’ve done it just by calorie counting. And in terms of food noise that is true - Ive always felt a lot hungrier on other diets. But MJ is not giving me the ‘extra’ boost that lots of people seem to be getting in terms of weight loss. I’m 7 weeks in and 10 pounds down. I’ve got near on 5 stone to lose- my kitchen roll is not shedding sheets anywhere near as quickly as I’d like!

well done to everyone else though, and fingers crossed I start seeing some physical difference soon.

Waspie · 08/04/2025 08:46

I have still lost only 1.5kg and I'm now staring at the final 5mg dose. I have put off reordering as it's simply not doing anything.

The food "noise" is broadly down but I happily waded my way through a Sunday roast at the pub and didn't feel full half way. I did leave two of the roasties so I guess that's something.

Shall I move up to 7.5mg and give it one more go, or cut my losses and accept it's just not working?

Nicecuppatea2025 · 08/04/2025 09:05

@Waspie I reckon give 7.5mg a try and see if that’s a better dose for you. I’m going up next time too.

Don't be dispirited by 2lb a week loss!! That's the max healthy amount to lose, so we shouldn't be aiming for more than that. You are having great losses!!

SpiralSister · 08/04/2025 09:35

Morning my lovelies. Just popping in with a NSV!

Went to a gig last night. DH bought me a band tshirt. I wasn’t sure what size to get, maybe the medium? So I said out loud to the seller ‘I’m a 14 on top’. The medium it was. And it fits perfectly.

I said OUT LOUD that I am a 14 on top. Staggered 😂

Waspie · 08/04/2025 09:42

Thanks @Nicecuppatea2025, I shall join you moving to 7.5ml and order today.

Great to read everyone else's NSVs and wins - I'm thrilled for you all. Also it gives me hope! Flowers

hennybeans · 08/04/2025 09:47

I’m on injection 8 this week. 9.7 kg down total.

I’ve had 4x2.5mg, 1x 3mg, 1x4mg, 1x 2.5mg, 1x 3.33mg. What a mish mash!

The 3 and 4mg absolutely killed me. Very strong nausea and extreme fatigue, and virtually no weight loss those two weeks as well!

So I’ve gone right back down to 2.5 which was fine and 3.33 which is so far ok. Might try 4mg again next week.

I’d definitely go up, I think there is a sweet spot for people that is quite different for everyone.

If you read the FAQ’s on a few provider websites most state that staying on 2.5mg is rare. So I don’t think those on this thread that are losing lots with 2.5mg are typical at all. Not that it’s a bad thing but don’t let that sway you into thinking it’s normal. The higher doses are used for a reason.

Are you keeping track of your food eg on MyFitnessPal? Are your portions too big? Are you eating enough? Are you drinking enough water/eating enough in a balanced way etc? Exercising?

HoratioBum · 08/04/2025 13:25

It’s so very odd how we are all different and there’s no one size fits all, isnt there. I know 2 lb a week is healthy and attainable. And I feel better in myself and able to walk for miles and miles and run up stairs. I’ve lost the equivalent of a domestic cat or a kettle filled with water!

This is just my experience, but I think willpower is still required- for me personally I can't just jab then forget about it and assume I won't finish a whole roast dinner. I'm overweight because I've spent years overeating long past when I'm full- I am very used to that!

The jabs cut down the food noise which makes it easier to think before I eat, but I still need to be mindful about what I'm eating, how many calories, what portion size I'm plating up etc. Basically what I assume thin people do.

I know a lot of people just get strong suppression which does most of the work for them, but it's not been my experience so I just wanted to say don't be disheartened if it's not yours either. I am telling myself it will make it easier to be sustainable when I reach target, as I am still having to engage my brain a bit rather than just assuming the jabs will do it for me.

ThatJoyousHazelDuck · 08/04/2025 13:41

For those on the fence about 7.5, this is just my experience.
Days 1 & 2, I could barely eat, I didn't feel particularly sick but didn't feel 100% either.
I'm on day 5 now and have felt much better since then. I also had sulphur burps (which eased with an increase in food).
I've just had a three egg omelette for lunch and I managed it but I don't feel the need to raid the cupboards for something sweet like I used to.
I know it's just one perspective but I hope it helps.

RememberDecember · 08/04/2025 14:11

It is really interesting to hear how everyone is getting in - and reactions to different dosages seem so different. I wonder where we will all be in a few months - very varied I would imagine.

I haven’t looked at other cohorts to see if they mainly end up on the higher doses but that is what I was expecting. Now I’m not so sure I will go there after my 5mg experience.

TheBuffetInspector · 08/04/2025 14:37

Week 9, 19lbs down! My Mum noticed today and is now less eye rolling and more... Let me check my BMI 🤣

5mg was a bit strange for me - food noise and hunger definitely more pronounced than 2.5, but I guess my body was getting used to it.

Did my first 7.5 on Sunday - Oh My Word!! Burps all night. I could feel them in my sleep and had to wake up feeling like I was going to be sick. Once vertical though just a massive filthy burp... Probably every 2 hours. I was wondering how people in partnerships coped as I was so glad I was single! Felt floored and tired Monday. Fine today.

I'll see how the next 3 7.5mg go as to whether I'll move up to 10.

Hopefully I will, but I'll wait and see as can't do that every week!!

Maro11 · 08/04/2025 16:11

Oh Lordy Lord

Jabbed in the arm this week, awful headaches, drinking plenty so not that, no other difference to note, no increased suppression as I saw reported.

I should have left well enough alone

What mgs? Have you just moved up? Just started?

I hope you feel better soon!

No suppression isn't uncommon if it is 6 weeks on 2.5.

I don't really understand your post tbh are you saying you feel awful because of the MJ, where you injected it, or just feel awful in general?

eleanorwish · 08/04/2025 17:59

I was unsure about going up to 7.5, I’ve been losing 2lbs a week on 5mg. I’ve decided to do 1 more month on 5mg and then increase to 7.5. I’ve been forcing myself to eat enough calories on 5, so don’t really need much more suppression. Just my luck, the suppression will start to ease off this next month! I suppose it will give me a chance to test my willpower.

Hangryfastjo · 08/04/2025 18:21

It's good to hear that not everyone on this thread has made all changes needed. I've not started exercising yet and a little voice is niggling me.
I've maintained for 8 days now, feeling determined to beat it, but just hoping it's with a whoosh. I've got another 5mg pen to go yet as well. Hope I don't regret that.
Tried on some clothes today and I was a 14 on top. Feels brilliant!

sc0ttishlass · 08/04/2025 19:15

Hello, 2 exciting things here today. 1, I went for a run with group after work, first run since beginning of Feb when started this and felt so much lighter. It's bound to make such a difference as I've lost 25lb so far and was carrying that on a run!
2,all my office black trousers are baggy. I don't go in that much and have such a lot still to lose I'm not buying anyhing new but going to make do, but was such a pleasant surprise and so much comfier than previously when they were all so tight!

Hi everyone, this is my first post on here as, like yourselves, started using MJ in February.
My decision to start has stemmed from suffering with long covid syndrome for almost 3 years, have fibromyalgia, diagnosed as pre-diabetic, needing a knee replacement asap and being the heaviest I have ever been. My bmi was 52 and I have to get it under 40 to have the knee operation.
GP refused to refer me until some of the long COVID symptoms eased,
particularly relating to my breathing.
I felt I was stuck in a rut and didn’t want how I was then, to be how I live the rest of my life, so took the proverbial bull by the horns and spoke with hubby, daughter and son about starting the injections.
With full support from my hubby, I researched for weeks before deciding on MJ.
I have worked by way up the doses each month and started 7.5mg this week (Monday). I feel really nauseous and fatigued but was like this for the first week on 5mg but it wore off by the Thursday.
I was looking for a support group and hopefully you’ll accept me within this one.
I want to ask if you have any views
on using meal replacements, as when I feel nauseous I cannot eat (I have an irrational fear of vomiting and will do anything to avoid it).
I need to ensure that I am having the right nutrients, vitamins and minerals but if I don’t eat, I’m not getting them.
There may be something glaringly obvious that I should consider but I am turning to you for your experiences and words of wisdom. Thank you x

Hello @GrannyDooun

I am sure everyone will make you feel very welcome 🤗

I also suffer with fibromyalgia, cannot even think how bad that could be alongside long Covid - whenever I get an infection I get a massive flare up.

My job is really busy, so on a normal working day I will pack a high protein Huel with me to drink at lunchtime. It's nutritious, packed with vitamins and minerals, high protein and it fills me up. On MJ, I only have half the volume, working out at around 200 calories per meal.

Supplements are also good - I take multivitamins, collagen mixed with the Huel and Omega 3 fish oil to help with cholesterol.

If you really cannot stomach food, drink your nutrition - absolutely nothing wrong with that if it works for you in my book.

MrsHero · 08/04/2025 20:05

Anyone finding meal planning difficult since starting mounjaro?

I've always been 'in charge' of putting together a meal plan, shoppings lists etc (I'm part time vs husband's full time) but since starting mounjaro, I'm finding it so hard - I just don't care any more! Meals don't excite me in the same way and I no longer 'look forward' to whatever is on the menu. Often I get to tea time and I'm just not hungry anyway!
Tbh it's not ideal as I'm probably not eating the most nutritious choices by running the fridge down, so do need to do something about it!
