I started Mounjaro on Feb 27th, I have lost 10lbs since then. I've never really felt that it's having much of an effect on my appetite etc. I've felt all along as though I'm relying on will power. I was excited last week to move up the 5mg dose, hoping it might improve the appetite suppression side of things but it didn't. Sunday was day six for me and I felt ravenous, despite trying very hard to stay in a calorie deficit I did go over slightly.

Monday was the opposite, I felt satisfied after a light lunch and didn't feel like an evening meal at all, I just had an orange. I jabbed with my 2nd 5mg dose again this morning and today I've felt bloated and full, couldn't eat my chicken salad for lunch.

Could it be that despite not feeling any effect for the first five weeks this drug has all of a sudden 'kicked in' for me?

Hi everyone,

Late posting for me, week 6 weigh in -4lb!

Sw 17s2lb
Cw 15st 13lb

So not only did I crack 1 stone loss I also ended up in a new stone bracket!

Really am pleased and massively surprised. Not that I should be, I've increased my exercise and staying in my calorie deficit.

I did my second jab of 5 mg to yesterday, so far no huge side effects other than I get a really achy back on the day and day after jab day. It's like a period pain ache so I could be due on. I never had it on the 2.5 🤷‍♀️ not overly worried though.

I've 7lb until my first goal on nutracheck which in all honesty I never thought I'd reach.

Have a great week everyone 😊

OntheTrainX · 01/04/2025 18:48

Well done on reaching the 15s @Marypoppinsisnosaint !

Loving all the happy NSV and loss posts!

What are people who are at/nearing their target planning to do? Sorry, I know there have been previous posts on this subject on this and other threads!

I've just started my third pen (7.5mg) and honestly don't feel the need to lose more weight - the scales are static and although I'm not quite at my (admittedly arbitrary) goal of 60kg, I'm feeling really good and healthy and like I'm losing fat and gaining muscle. So I'm really at a happy balance. Part of me feels like I should just stop after this pen and stick to good habits but I'm worried I'll undo all the good things that have happened (not just re MJ/weight loss - my life has done a 180 since this time a few months ago when I was frankly a fat, depressed to the point of being suicidal, alcoholic, self sabotaging, unemployed loser - sorry for cheesy overshare but the turnaround has been nothing short of miraculous!).

I'm scared of going back to the person I was 😬. I can afford the pen so I guess maybe I should drop down to 5 or something and then maintain? Any thoughts/advice??

Still along way to go for me yet, but I have been looking into what to do when you get to goal weight It appears studies suggest its best to titrate down to a low amount before coming off completely and the most sucessful people do this and adopt a generally healthier diet and lifestyle that they keep up.

mumandgran24 · 01/04/2025 19:11

So I guess like many of us I have watched alot of videos and read alot about weight loss drugs. I can't find it but I saw something about a recent study that looked into how where u inject effects results. The sum up said the following. In the stomach-absorbs much faster into the body so tends to provide better weight loss results, but also more likely to give you side effects like nausea etc. In the thigh-not absorbed as fast as the stomach so tends to be lower results, but also lower side effects. Finally in the arm seems to be a much slower burn so to speak and may be useful for those who get alot of side effects.

Interestingly this does match with what I have experenced so far, this week tried the thigh and got pretty much no side effects after weeks in the stomach with some mild nausea on the day after the jab every time. But my weight loss is lower this week, though that could be a bit of a plateau after bigger losses in the first few weeks.

Anyone else found differences with where you inject? About to take my second to last jab in my second 2.5mg pen so torn if I should go up to 5mg to see if that increases my losses again? Maybe counting clicks to go to say 3.75 for a few weeks?

aylis · 01/04/2025 21:02

I'm having a bit of a couple of days of it, second week on 5mg. I've eaten 925 calories today and cannot eat any more. My stomach is sore and I know my dinner is taking ages to digest. I had the same thing happen last night, although made myself eat again and then threw up every bit of undigested food I'd eaten over the previous five hours. It is absolutely disgusting. I suspect I will have to start eating earlier in the day to manage this but I really am not a morning eater in general. I wish I'd just stayed on 2.5mg. feeling quite dispirited.

I moved to my arm from my stomach on the last two jabs of my 2.5mg and the suppression was stronger. I went back to my stomach for the first jab of my 5mg as I was worried about it being too strong, and it’s been about the same.

Solidarity. I had nausea and uncomfortable fullness on 5. I’m taking the last dose of it tomorrow but I’m not going up to 7.5 next week, I’ve just ordered another 5.

Same here! Was violently sick last night two days after taking my 4th 5mg. I’ve been almost too nervous to eat anything today but have forced some dry food down. I’ve got another 5mg pen in the fridge but seriously considering lowering back down to 2.5mg. The past two months have really been a rollercoaster of side effects for me. I guess some of us are more sensitive to the drug than others. Hope you feel better soon.

FunnyCrabDance · 01/04/2025 22:17

Im finding some side effects the last couple of days ( had 3 x 5 mg doses now). The dreaded sulphur burps and generally feeling a bit grim. Think I'll count clicks this friday and lower the dose as away this weekend and dont want to be burping rotting egg gas at everyone 🤢

WLINewbie · 02/04/2025 08:04

I'm on my third 5mg dose, halfway through the week. The first 2 doses were fine, motivation in a pen type effect. This week is the first time I've felt bloatedly full, first time I've not been able to finish a meal.

I've been going to the gym, doing my 12000 steps, working etc but otherwise am soooo tired and don't have much motivation to get things done.

Will see how the rest of the pen goes but don't think I'll be increasing the dose yet.

CallIpswichNow · 02/04/2025 08:24

Day 6 of my first week on 5 mg. Jab tomorrow.

I’m not complaining, because I did want to lose slowly to minimise worries around gallstones and loose skin and so on. But it’s still kind of surprising to me that my loss is so slow compared to some on the thread. I’m barely half a stone down from my starting weight despite decent suppression. And I’m not ‘fighting’ the drug — I’ve been eating so much less and definitely feel the difference.

Also still no side effects. 🤷‍♀️

sweetpickle2 · 02/04/2025 09:09

NSV this morning- I have a pair of jeans I bought about 2 months ago that wouldn't even go past my arse, I wouldn't normally keep clothes that don't fit but they were a total sale bargain and I knew I was going back on the jabs so I thought I'd keep them as a sense check of how much my body was changing on the loss. Well today I zipped them up! Still a bit too snug to actually wear probably but I'm amazed at the difference. Glad I kept them now!

It really does impact everyone so differently- even being on the jabs again for me this year having done the exact same titration last year, the weight loss and side effects are so different.

How much do you have to lose? What calorie deficit are you doing?

Dozycuntlaters · 02/04/2025 09:57

Ive finished my second 2.5 pen so going up to 5 which I'm quite apprehensive about. I took my golden dose on Monday and had enough left for 3.75 and I feel fine on that, no different at all.

I cooked the kids a roast on Monday night and did too many roast potatoes so thought I might as well have those rather than having a jacket so as not to waste them. Big mistake, will not be doing that again.

On week 10 now and lost 19 lbs. I seem to be consistantly losing 2 lbs a week which I am happy with. Will do my first 5 mg on Monday and if its hideous I will just do 45 clicks of the pen and take it to 3.75

OvertiredandConfused · 02/04/2025 11:38

I'm on day 4 of my first week on 7.5mg. Supression is much stronger than it was on 5mg. I weigh twice a week and over the last 7 days I've lost 3.5lbs which is my biggest loss since my first week.

@Feb2025start, things have settled a bit and I do feel that I can eat small, sensible amounts today. I have been plagued by insomnia for the last couple of nights but not sure if it's related.

Supposed to be out for supper tonight. Hoping I can manage two starters......

Umthisisabitawkward · 02/04/2025 12:16

I’m still suffering this week with diarrhoea and nausea - second week on 5mg (no side effects at all for the first week on it) so I’ll be counting clicks to go back to 2.5 on jab day (Friday). Loperamide doesn’t seem to be doing anything, so it seems safest to go back down and then maybe try titrating up very gradually at some later point. Sorry some others are having yucky side effects too - like a PP said, maybe some are just extra-sensitive to the medication. I seem to be 🙄 I’m drinking plain kefir and eating bananas and protein shakes, but that’s about all I can stomach at the moment. Will be interesting to see what the scales say on Friday!

SpiralSister · 02/04/2025 14:08

Hello lovelies. Just chiming in with my 5mg story.

On my 4th week, and the cumulative effects are showing themselves. It’s more difficult to eat, particularly in the morning. Slight nausea, also in morning.

Weight loss seems a little too fast right now - 3 lbs last week. I’d like 1-2 lbs, for all the sensible reasons, although I must confess it’s brilliant to feel slimmer by the day! Definitely sticking on 5mg next week.

Most of the weight seems to have gone from my top half, although realistically I’ve lost off the arse and hips too. I’ve got at least 2.5 stone to go, and I can’t help wondering what my face, collarbones and upper ribs will look like at that kind of weight.
(imagines nightmarish skeletal top half with still big belly and chunky thighs 😂).

I think I imagined a return to the hourglass figure of my 20’s ( and to a lesser extent, 30’s). Post menopause, I think I need to adjust expectations!

getthingsdone · 02/04/2025 14:17

So I see that many of you are having to deal with side effects on 5mg. I postponed my jab of 5mg last week (took it Tuesday instead of Friday so 11 days in between) and I couldn't face doing my injection yesterday either. I might until Friday, so again 10 days in between jabs.
Is anyone else doing that? Just increasing the intervals in between the injections to avoid the side effects (or rather to recover from side effects)?

MissionToSize10 · 02/04/2025 14:43

I saw a summer dress online and ordered it in a size 14, a bit optimistic i thought as i started this and still fitting in size 18s although loose. Im -13lbs down now so far (wk 6).

Id begun to regret ordering that size, but it arrived yesterday so i thought, lets see how tight it is. Well i only bloody fitted in it! It must be on the big size maybe! Idk but ill take it!

SpiralSister · 02/04/2025 14:44

Can’t say I have, @getthingsdone , although I can see that it might make sense. What does your provider say though? As I understand it, side effects wear off over time, as does weight loss, and that’s when you move up a dose.

There’s certainly a ‘put up with it and play the long game’ vibe from my provider.

Hangryfastjo · 02/04/2025 14:49

I think i would worry about the pen going out of date @getthingsdone .

My first week on 5mg was hard but took my third on monday and it seems to be getting easier.
I've not needed to speak to my provider, but see it advised a lot. Have many of you done this? Are they receptive to having a discussion if needed and how long do you have to wait to speak to someone. Just curious really

ExplodingCarrots · 02/04/2025 15:18

1.2lb loss for me this week. Happy overall as I had some bigger losses previous weeks . That makes 22lb loss overall since start of February. I've just taken my first jab of 7.5mg so will report back on how that goes.
I had amazing suppression on 5mg and did have some nausea and I was annoyed I went for the 7.5mg but I'm hoping to stay on this dose for a couple of months now.

I had alcohol Saturday for the first time since starting the jab and even though I didn't drink loads and I stuck with diet mixers I found from Sunday - today a total change in the amount of suppression I had. It seemed my pen wore off a lot quicker and I was going on willpower . That's the first time that's happened . Maybe that's why my loss was lower this week too .

I have done 5 injections of 5 mg so far. Postponing my sixth right now. I mentioned the side effects to my doctor on my last appointment (after my 3rd jab of 5mg) and she advised to stay on 5mg for the next round instead of moving straight up to 7.5 mg.
I haven't asked her about postponing the injections but have decided to do so myself as I just couldn't bear the side effects (d&v). I'll ask for her medical recommendation next time I see her.
As for the pen going out of date, I'm not so worried. Lots of users seem to split doses by counting clicks which would make the pen last twice as long. They seem to be fine with that.
